Marilyn Manson : I wouldn't say a single word to them. I would listen to what they have to say, and that's what no one did.

That whole album, really. Heresy March of the pigs Hurt A note on hurt. Johnny Cash gets a lot of credit for his cover, and he should. It's phenomenal. It also comes from a very different place. Marilyn Manson is honestly one of the most intelligent, thoughtful and eloquent 'stars' we have right now. He is so incredibly well spoken and if you watch interviews with him, he *thinks* before he speaks, he *knows* what he's talking about (if he claims he does) and is always informed about the topic he's debating. He did interviews with people who were openly against him, his lifestyle and music and on stations who usually painted him as the devil incarnate or at least mocked him. Always calm, collected and witty, he challenges a lot of people to think not exactly like him, but outside their usual comfort zone and pushes boundaries. On top of that, he's humble enough to not brag about it!!! What a great mind!
The album this song came from 'Antichrist Superstar' is one of my favorite albums of all time. It scared all the fundamentalists more than any record of my lifetime and it was powerful. With MM you have to look past the 'shock value' and read the lyrics to understand the deeper message. His music helped me (and many others) feel accepted and understood in a world that had made us feel like outcasts and weirdos. Instead of putting us down, it lifted us up. So funny how you'll hear society say MM's music causes people to commit suicide, feel depressed, etc. but that could not have been further from the truth for me. In the late 90s, it made me less depressed, much more confident in myself and encouraged me to pursue my own musical work. Some of my fav videos from MM are Coma White, The Nobodies (a song about the Columbine School shootings) and Man That You Fear. Thanks and enjoy :)

I remember in the documentary Bowling for Columbine where he was asked about his music and it influencing the murders. He said music doesn’t yell at you, or make you feel bad it’s there for you when you need it and it’s to make you feel better (sorry not the exact words). When asked what he would have done differently (everyone was pointing fingers and blaming everyone - especially him for brain washing these kids and causing them to shoot up a school) he said he would do the one thing nobody did.
