I tried keto for 6 weeks straight and at 55 yo it made me feel like a live wire, in the worst way, 24 hours a day. I slept less than 2 hours a night. I saved my minimal carb amount for dinner time thinking it would help me sleep better. I slept better when fasting than with keto and I only lost 6 pounds! It made my pain with fibromyalgia and arthritis much worse too. After doing EXTENSIVE research I realized that after age forty it can totally screw up your hormones. It took me 6+ months to recover from 6 weeks of keto. This is not how God meant for us to eat. I do eat low carb a lot at times but always more carbs than keto allows and I caution every woman over forty to discuss with a nutritionist before jumping on the bandwagon of any diet. Lordy, I have tried them all, all my life and eating healthy and getting exercise, fresh air and sunshine and a relationship with God is the best combo there is! I do watch you because you often fit in with a gluten free lifestyle and that is important to my daughter and I. ❤️
With all respect you should have checked with your doctor and a nutritionist before trying any change in your diet since you already have medical issues.
You're not a diabetic. Lots of keto/vore are or have chron's or hashimotos. Also 40 is young. Women are having kids at that age. Menopause is a bit harder.
Im 50, I started keto at 48, and my experience has been completely different than yours. In 30 years of trying to lose weight and get healthy, keto is the ONLY thing that has ever worked for me. There is no one size fits all. And yes, I work with my doctor.
Keto helped me lose 65 pounds at age 57-59. I slipped off keto due to poor mental health. I gained 18 pounds back very quickly. My own fault. Now I'm getting back to keto because it makes me feel so much better.

I went keto for many months to get into keytosis and low glucose due to i had cancer..im still eating purple potatoes sometimes and i cheat with sourdough bread...Then i fast to get back into ketosis...Its annoying lol..i don't high carbs ..my digestive issues have really cleared up on keto too..

They aren’t high, depends what level of carb you are going for, and of course how many you eat. Raspberries and blueberries are the lowest I think, but check online for accurate amounts. The proper human diet consists of app 60% fat, 35% protein, and 5% carbs. Apparently you are aware that low carbohydrates are the way to go, but you appear to think the misconception that eating fat makes you fat. This is not true. Eating high carbs and processed foods cause you to get fat, not fat consumption. Why not eat a full fat, or whole milk yogurt instead on the garbage you are eating? I would not feed zero fat anything to a dog, let alone myself.
High carbs are bad for you! High carbs will make a person gain weight,and high fat foods are even worse for your body.I was perfectly healthy when i was a vegan. Later on down the road i was told keto diet was the best for me....5 months later i am 53 pds lighter and sick in my body with chronic IBSC. The vegan diet is so beneficial because protein and fiber promotes healthy digestion and consuming no animal fats in the body is super bemeficial for the body in so many ways.I am back to being a vegan and staying that way because i never had health issues being a vegan.
