@GalactaGirl those liberal California policies are exactly why it's an ineffective dangerous policy.. regardless of the initial crime starting the pursuit.. failing to pull over... fleeing & eluding itself is a Felony. Hmmm... if you watch until the end, just before it ends (1:06:18) the reporter gets word from a colleague or someone and then says, "that's horrible" ... then talks about there being video of "it" and then says "well hey, that's manslaughter, you know, he's going to jail". Since the woman was driving, I wouldn't think it would have to do with the truck she hit during the pursuit, because then SHE would be responsible, too, and getting manslaughter, not just him. So either this guy did something before the pursuit started or this reporter is talking about a whole other story. That said, I have to wonder if this woman wasn't forced to drive this U-Haul, even if she is romantically involved with this guy, because she is clearly trying to keep him from hugging/kissing her, even tried to head-butt him ( I saw another angle from different video) and hit him with her elbow at one point. She also was blowing out of her mouth when he was trying to kiss her (saw in other video). I'll be interested to find out what their stories are.
The suspect driving just 15 mph and the world famous LAPD follow for a full hour without even trying to pit the truck . They only had about 237 chances to stop the vehicle, but LAPD just waited until the truck stopped on its own !! LA's finest .
As far as pitting the truck, the police need to get right next to the vehicle, and if they have a firearm this could turn out badly. It worked out well.
They stopped musing the pit maneuvers because of the lawsuits departments were getting when they would pit someone and they end up crashing or flipping the vehicle and the suspect sustains injuries from the pit maneuvers. Its easier and safer to disengage from the chase and have the chopper track the vehicle until it comes to a stop. Then they will close down the area and move in to arrest. Studies show backing off a fleeing suspect will reduce the speeds that the suspects will reach when they attempt to put distance on the cops chasing them. California see's ALOT of chases almost daily so they have plenty of experience dealing with these chases. The goal of the current tactics is to reduce risk to the innocent motorists who are usually victimized by fleeing suspects. Everything changes when the suspect is wanted for a violent crime, they will pursue them and try to end it as soon as posible if its a violent crime the suspect is running for. For example assult with a deadly weapon, robbery, murder, etc etc etc. A simple gta charge or failure to stop will not garner an escalation and they will back off and let the chooper follow them
one day someone will actually go somewhere instead of driving around in circles. if you're gonna run, at least head for new york or niagra falls, instead of sightseeing in LA.
This went on longer then it should have, they will pit at high rate of speed but in this guess they were eating lunch as they drove. Wow! Why they did not end it sooner.

No. I’ve watched videos of the NYPD in car chases and it took them awhile to catch the person trying to get away. Police in every state know not to risk other people lives if its in a busy area, streets, freeways, neighborhoods. So no, you’re wrong and no cop could stop them in the first minute, especially if it’s a car chase. Also police cars sometimes have to keep their distant in case they’re racing through busy streets. Go ask your NY cops if they would be able to stop a car chase in the first minute, they’ll probably laugh at you and tell you they’re not gods to be that fast. Smdh. Lol 🤦🏻♀️
Well this all started out as less than what was expected. Now I wonder if this started because of him. Yes she done the driving but when she wanted to give up he held her in the truck where she couldn’t get out and then when she did get out he placed her in a bear hug. She slapped him to let go but it took the taser to make him let go.
