    If you got a loose canon in a car, you need to forget about “officer safety” because the public is in danger if the officers let the car keep driving.
    officers get paid to put their lives at risk. They have body armor and guns and vehicles. They should pull in front of that car and stop it.

    I dont understand why they did not give the driver a round of teargas when they had him stopped after the PIT, AND then negotiate after the driver was out of the car. This guy was a lethal weapon with his car and as far as I am concerned was let go needlessly. Sorry for my negativity and its only my personal opinion based upon what I see.

    Thanks Fox News for covering this from start to finish I think you were the only Network that actually did follow it closely...
    It was implied that there was a child endangerment situation and perhaps a child inside the car so if a child was in the car and the top speeds were hundred miles an hour plus that wouldn't go very well with being chased and I'm sure the child would have been very scared so I don't know if the police chase is always the best approach...
    It was suggested that the police agencies can use drones to find out where the suspect is going and then swoop in and box them in..
    And at the very end when they finally comes to a stop and they surround the car how are they going to carefully get the endangered child out of the vehicle without potential bloodshed...
    It would be nice to know what the end result was on this Chase and that maybe how long after the crash and stop was the suspect apprehended or what was the outcome what was the end result...

      This is all we do in Australia. Follow with a Police helicopter which can track the suspect with modern cameras while being high in the sky and have ground units ready to pounce when the suspect stops. I simply cannot understand the American system of having 30 Police cruisers follow a suspect for hours. They do literally nothing to try and stop them and all it does is create a dangerous situation everywhere the pursuit goes.

    why do they always ask about gas. scion xB gets 28 mpg highway and that will be little lower with faster speed but with full tank can go over 300 miles so why do they always wonder about running out of gas. it wont use that much more gas because going faster and it is a chase now.

    What ever happened to the old-fashioned HIGHWAY PATROL road blocks, or some quick, easy to implement intervention or trap a suspect could drive into and be stopped? Might make such a long-lasting tie up of so many police resources unnecessary.

    • @Caseytify

      They had tons of time to deploy spike strips in front of the car they "boxed in" about 43 minutes in. That is, if you want to call "not blocking the car at all from the front or sides" blocked in.
      Somewhere else someone mentioned the Grappler, and a third party said it was too expensive. And just how much did this low speed train wreck cost the county?

    • @bil94134
      @bil94134 Рік тому

      You're thinking of the movies where the writers decided where the cars would go next, and not real life where there are any number of streets, exits, etc., that the driver can take that police can't possibly cover every possibility.

    • @user-sb3du4oq8e
      @user-sb3du4oq8e Рік тому

      That is a liability thing too. You can’t just block off streets like that because it would get somebody killed and all the costs to the department to fix the vehicles damaged would be ridiculous. Also, reference the guy that said box in. Per policy, patrol units out west cannot “box in” or perform VCT, vehicle containment technique, on a moving vehicle. Only specialty tactical units with the proper vehicles can box in a moving vehicle.
