I think Billy laughed a bit at 2:09 because Conan set him up beautifully for the medication joke. Billy was probably wondering how to work it in...and then chuckled because of how easy it ended up being due to Conan's setup. Great. Only this master of comedy could make light of his own disease. One of, if not the best, jokes I've ever heard.
Seen Billy on the Television awards the other day. Horrible to see him so motionless. It looked like he had to really concentrate on what he was doing. Best person to ever come out of Scotland. What a man!
The great king Dain II of the Iron hills... No but It's good to see that he can still joke about his condition because Parkinsons is very serious and could also cause you depression.. Stay well Billy!
Jon Klein I am not American and I don't know what you mean with "Hill billy accents", but I personally find these "old-timey Southern/Wild West accents" you hear in movies awesome! For example the people in No Country for Old Men, or The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Just saw that recently, LOVED the accents there!! It sounds somehow intimate, poetic and raw, all at the same time! Love it!
That man,has been through a LOT in his life, yet he is very optimist and extremely funny, something i greatly admire. The strength of his will is simply amazing!
Jason Kaiser You're so right, I watched my poor father wither away with Parkinsons, it's terrible. I've seen Billy 7 times. My all time comedy hero. :)
Phyl Renshaw well my father has parkinsons disease also, but the main thing that he does with Parkisons disease is that he has good humour about it. I mean he is not going to be able to do the same thing as he was used too, but he is the same person, my grandad also had parkinsons, but i never thought of him to have it, i just thought that he was old, cause he was so lively and willing to do things
Karl Gustaf Ah my grandfather had it and it really took a lot out of him, so that was what I was basing that on. I guess I shouldn't assume it's the same for everyone.
My favorite comedian of all time and I had the pleasure of meeting him when he was shooting Journey to the Edge. You couldn't imagine a nicer person to meet. I asked for his signature and he said, "I thought you'd never ask."
That was the best part of the movie when he came running down the hill with his army and spoke. I had no idea he was going to be in it and I almost creamed my pants.
I love he took a role as Dain Ironfoot, his accents fits perfectly as dwarf, he was such a badass along with his loyal Dwarven warriors, I really enjoyed his battle scene.

Alot of the things in the movie that arnt in the book are taken out of Tolkien notes... he didn't make most of it up, Legolas was added because he is around during the time and his father was in it.
Eh, I guess I don't mind Legolas' fair face, but I hate how he cut out so much of the cool stuff about Beorn, and I can't stand how he added the ghosts to the cave in Return of the King. It was an eery part in the book when they were following in the dark without being seen, but the scene with them in the movie was cheesy and annoying.
tSGtGaming Nothing that Peter "The Jewish Dwarf" Jackson added to the movie comes from Tolkien, that's just a big hoax. Everything that Tolkien left now belongs to his son and he will never sell it to Jackson, since he realizes how much he butchers his father's work for money.
Compared to his 2012 interview on Conan, Billy he seems so much smaller and quieter, frail almost. I hope he keeps going strong in everything he's doing.
Gareth James yea, Parkinson's is a bad disease but by far not the most horrific one. Many people live with it for a long, long time. It's hard to see them go through but not the end of enjoying ones life. It's good to know there are people like your father who do not dwell on it. My sister has Multiple Sclerosis, unfortunately this will preclude her from enjoying anything about the latter years of her life. This has led her to realise that she needs to enjoy life now while she can. I think what will happen to her scares me more then her.
Joe Robinson Look up the symptoms of parkinsons, full on parkinsons is about the worst it gets, sorry to hear about your sister though, good to hear shes happy.
Dont try and make this some fucked up competition mate. But these are some of the full onset symptoms of parkinsons: Muscle tremors that start in one area then slowly spread to other parts of your body, you eventually get regular muscle cramps and lose the ability to move your limbs/body. You lose the ability to move your face and get a fixed expression of nothing. You become so dizzy even if you could walk, you would fall over constantly, you get eye problems, being blurred and double vision and struggle to move your eyes. You get bladder and bowel problems and get have trouble sleeping, getting batches of insomnia. You struggle to swallow and lose the ability to speak and struggle to communicate. Your whole body aches with pain. Im not saying one thing is worse than another, but parkinsons is definitely one of the worst things out there. The fact people live with it for such a long time in cases makes it even worse, as you slowly lose control of your body and mind.
"I was on your show and meet a doctor who suspected I had Parkinson's Disease.". "Wow.. So basically you were on this show and meet a doctor who suspected you had Parkinson's Disease"? Wow... quite intuitive Conan...
This is how normal conversations go when shocking information gets revealed though. It's natural to want a repeat confirmation when something shocking is said. Blueswailer Ian Clarke It's not just old age guys, lets not forget Billy was not long diagnosed with early stage cancer and parkinson's disease which must be taking their toll also.
Blueswailer Not really natural. These days the people you see who you think are in their 60's are usually in their 70's. People are living well into their 90's and making it to 100 like never before and are aging much, much better as well. He could be living another 25 years of life easily. It wouldn't be an easy 25 years living like this. Thankfully the same science that helps us prevent aging prematurely and keeps us healthy can also help treat and cure diseases like these. For Billy and for many others, this may be possible and hopefully prevent us from getting them too. ;)
Its almost the same when Marshall (in How i met your mother) said the only ones in the planet who didnt saw Star Wars were the actors, because they Lived Them!
While Parkinson's is a serious thing, Billy should consider himself lucky. He's in his early 70s and was just diagnosed last year. The type he has looks like it's slow in progression, too. Sure he looks like his best years are behind him, but dang, he's still working. I know a woman that's gone from shaking wrists to full-body quakes in two years, and she's not quite 50. I do wish him the best, though! Great guy, brought many laughs to this world.
So very sad that he has been struck by Parkinson's. It was because of that that he wasn't able to portray Dain Ironfoot on screen and was actually all CG. He still voiced the character, though and the voice made Dain Ironfoot a badass dwarf! Bless him for his continuing sense of humor.
If I didn't know about Billys condition I would have noticed something was not right about him in this video. He has a stare in his eyes and a slight tremor in his left hand. My father had parkinsons so I recognise the symptoms.. I'm guessing the doctor he met saw it too..
For everyone wondering billy connolly wasn't cgi in the movie he was actually in makeup it just appeared that he was cgi because of the grey filter that was in the movie.

Uncle Billy such a funny guy.
I recognized his voice as soon as I heard it even though I didn't know he was going to be in the movie! Was pleasantly surprised. :D
The Las Vegas joke kills me every time.
1:17 lol he just was being serious lol
Fair enough!
He is honest..Thats good enough in my mind! :)
I died at 2:29. That's also honestly EVERY man in in Las Vegas though XD!
For everyone wondering billy connolly wasn't cgi in the movie he was actually in makeup it just appeared that he was cgi because of the grey filter that was in the movie.
Wrong
Love the Big Yin!
I just fell in love with Billy Connolly. What an incredible man.
