This was the dynasty that never was. Penny was EASILY my favorite player back then and I always loved watching Shaq dominate. But, if he wouldn't have left, I would have never got the Shaq-Kobe combination that I loved more than any duo in basketball ever.
Where did they get their information ℹ️ from? The Magic played Boston, Chicago & Indy on the way to 95 Finals vs Houston. Why does Bouhmani have NY stuck in his mind?
After MJ's return in '95, his Bulls went just 2-6 in their first 8 meetings with Orlando. The Magic spoiled his home comeback game and ended his comeback season. Then they handed the 72-win Bulls their first loss in '96. MJ didn't need to make up some pie-in-the-sky reason for getting motivated against them that season.
The Magic did go 45-37 and lost 1-3 to Miami in 96-97, 97-98 they were abysmal as Penny only played in 15 games that season and they were 33-17 in 99 but lost to Six Seed Iverson and Sixers.
Nobody talks much about Shaq getting swept 6 times. As dominant as Shaq was it was clearly evident that if he didn’t see a light at the end of the tunnel then he didn’t try hard to will his team to victory. If he did see the light he then played up to his potential and often dominated.
This team is the one team that is genuinely able to make the argument that their playing style in the 90s would be competitive in today's current shooting playing style with multiple 3-ball shooters on the floor with a dominant big man too. Yeah, I said it!
Pierce was as strong as an ox though, don't get it twisted. When did you ever see him bodied? Even Dwight and LeBron struggled to bump him off his spots.
There was nothing Penny Hardaway couldn't do. He became Orlando's best player and more popular than Shaq. Out sold Jordan with his sneakers with the Lil Penny commercial. He would have been Top 10 all time easy. Shaq was jealous and left to get his own team with a little help from Stern who wanted a marquee player for LA. I think they would've have had a real shot at defeating the Bulls in 1997, 98 if they kept the Orlando Magic team together. Took Jordan and the Bulls a couple years to defeat the Pistons too with the same team. Experience and mental toughness plays a huge role in the play-offs and finals.
One of those common situations in NBA where one team is so talented enough to beat a great team but just so happens u meet that team in conference Finals and not actual Finals so by time u get to Finals u have no more gas to win it all . SUPER DUPER FACTS
Jordan was NOT rusty in this series. Total myth. He averaged 31 points and led the team in steals and blocks. The real reason the Bulls lost was because they were weak at the PF position. "We're a Horace Grant away", Jordan said.

If Shaq kept his body from the magics days and stayed in Orlando while Penny never got injured, we might have seen another dynasty after the Bulls era was over.
MJ did not destroy them. The Bulls defense with Rodman and the fact that Horace only played 1 game destroyed them. Shaq and Penny's numbers were better in the 96 series but their support was worse. It was the same reason Jordan lost the year before. The Bulls were dominated on the interior. Not because Jordan played a shortened season.
Yeah you're kind of right. 6-1 maybe. No way does that Bulls team beat the Rockets. They had no answer for Shaq and Penny so the Dream and Drextler would have swept them also. But 2 be fair. The Rockets don't win back to back finals if Jordan didn't retire.

In the modern league there are too many star players with short stature. Because the league is soft.
5"8 Isiah Thomas, 6"1 Donovan Mitchell, 6"2 Damian Lillard, 6"2 Kyrie Irving, 6"2 Derrick Rose
6"0 Kyle Lowry, 6"1 Lou Williams, 6"1 Chris Paul, 6"2 Goran Dragic, 6"2 Jason Terry,
6"0 Kemba Walker, 6"1 Rajon Rondo, 6"1 Trae Young, 6"2 Tony Parker,
None of these players are taller than 6"2.
Short and non-athletic players thrive in the modern league.
2019/20 season:
6"1 Trae Young ( age 21 )= 30-ppg FG-44%
6"3 Bradley Beal ( SG ) = 30-ppg FG-45%
6"6 JORDAN ( SG ) will be dominate in this era.
@@allanhouston6759 all of the players that you named are supremely skilled. Wasn't Mugsy 5'3? Stockton? Mark Price? Micheal Adams? Quit being a hatin old head
@@cojack636 Don"t be so stupid, 5"3 Mugsy was never a star in the 90s.
There were short players ( stars ) in the 90s, but there weren"t as many of them as in today"s league.
5"8 Isiah Thomas in the 2016/17 season: 29-ppg and top 5 in the MVP vote.
Top 5 ? ?
In the 90s, he will never even be in the top 10.
Go watch tennis.
That’s when the NBA was good..miss them days
i love shaq and penny they are in my 2k myteam starters always along with mj and scottie.
Why is it Grant hill is in the Hall of fame but not Penny?
Hill had more productive years before he got hurt just as he was reaching his prime, made more All-Star (7 vs 4) and All-NBA (5 vs 3) teams, and managed to come back from injuries into a role player for good Phoenix playoff teams. Hardaway sadly, just was never able to comeback from his injury :(
@@kaizerchief17 yup, plus his college career was much better than Penny's.
@@hennylo68 yeah that's true! those early 90's Duke teams were dominant
kaizerchief17 you made good points sadly I have to agree .... ok now I’m gonna test ya again, why is a Grant hill in the HOF and not Chris Webber?
@@nguont i think he should, but timeout mistake and the UM scandal hurt his chances from hall voters the most. Career-wise, a lack of team success like never making it to the Finals hurt him. Probably would have 1-2 more All-Star or All-NBA teams if it wasn't for injuries.
This was the dynasty that never was. Penny was EASILY my favorite player back then and I always loved watching Shaq dominate. But, if he wouldn't have left, I would have never got the Shaq-Kobe combination that I loved more than any duo in basketball ever.
He said 45 ain’t as explosive as 23 , so he came back as 23 and gave em 45
Where did they get their information ℹ️ from? The Magic played Boston, Chicago & Indy on the way to 95 Finals vs Houston. Why does Bouhmani have NY stuck in his mind?
I had to rewind the video to make sure that was what Bomani said. The Knicks and the Magic have never met in the playoffs.
Penny Hardaway my favorite player ever, coolest name, smoothest game, illest jersey in the league and sickest shoe collection
Lmfao One Cent Hardaway.
Did you like anything he did on the court groupie?
Nice narration Uncle Drew!
The Magic and Knicks never met in the playoffs. The Magic and Pacers met in the ECF in 1995.
I hate when they incorrectly state these kinds of things. It’s like where’s the editor to catch an easy mistake like that? Lack of professionalism.
very sad that Penny isn't in the HOF, unfair. Kudos Penny
"Hardaway may never make the hall of fame".... that knocked the wind out of me I dont know a more captivating point guard
Host is legit. Keep on Mr. Jones.
The Magic did go 45-37 and lost 1-3 to Miami in 96-97, 97-98 they were abysmal as Penny only played in 15 games that season and they were 33-17 in 99 but lost to Six Seed Iverson and Sixers.
New kid on the block but already amongst the best if not the best commentating on BB.
the bulls really dominated the magic in round 3 of 96 getting a 4-0 sweep winning by 38 4 19 and 4 so 65 points combined
Nobody talks much about Shaq getting swept 6 times.
As dominant as Shaq was it was clearly evident that if he didn’t see a light at the end of the tunnel then he didn’t try hard to will his team to victory.
If he did see the light he then played up to his potential and often dominated.
Rest in Peace Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant.
Produced content and not just jibber-jabber? Awesome and thank you.
Best vibe in sports broadcasting: Bomani Jones.
When Rodman came to Bulls and Jordan got his legs back it was game over for Magic Believe that.
2:54 Rodman with the Spurs now that's a throwback!!
This team is the one team that is genuinely able to make the argument that their playing style in the 90s would be competitive in today's current shooting playing style with multiple 3-ball shooters on the floor with a dominant big man too. Yeah, I said it!
You mean the TIME Shaq and Penny bounced MJ out the playoffs? 🤣I love the music in the background and amazing information almost like a Dj. 🔥
Paul Pierce took over the "hooper who clearly doesn't lift weights" mantle from D. Scott.
Pierce was as strong as an ox though, don't get it twisted. When did you ever see him bodied? Even Dwight and LeBron struggled to bump him off his spots.
Your good at narrating thats the way of telling good old story, ilove it
Wow, I didn't think anyone would remember Anthony Boie's infamous Triple-Double! It's why I am subscribed here, he know his sh**t!
Sick content!
love this series
My favorite music of all time....💟💟
One of those common situations in NBA where one team is so talented enough to beat a great team but just so happens u meet that team in conference Finals and not actual Finals so by time u get to Finals u have no more gas to win it all
.
SUPER DUPER FACTS
Jordan was NOT rusty in this series. Total myth. He averaged 31 points and led the team in steals and blocks. The real reason the Bulls lost was because they were weak at the PF position. "We're a Horace Grant away", Jordan said.
@bleedingkansai9961 No you ignoramus Jordan was rusty and out of shape . Just because he good numbers doesnt mean he was the same player
Never say never about Penny getting into the Hall Of Fame. Only time will tell. If Walton and Sampson made it, we'll see Penny get inducted in the next 5 to 10 years.
Walton?? Bill Walton the 2 time champion,78 nba MVP, 77 finals MVP and 86 sixth man of the year? That Walton??
@@chrissantiago8076 And that's not even getting into his collegiate career!
@@oMaJoJ yea 2 time NCAA champ and all of his individual accolades
@@chrissantiago8076 Penny: 4x All-Star, 2x first team All-NBA, 15.5 career PPG.
B. Walton: 2x All-Star, 1x first team All-NBA, 13.3 career PPG.
HOF probability: Penny 29%, B. Walton 2%. Walton had a great College career, and so did Penny. But yeah let's put Walton in the Hall and don't give Penny a chance.
Penny hardaway is one of my favorite all time player.
During his time with the magic he was one of the best PG in the history of the game...
Unfortunately he get this injury...
Happy to have been able to see:
1993 Michael Jordan
1995 Penny Hardaway
2008 Kobe Bryant
2015 Stephen curry
If not for that infamous knee injury, Hardaway would've been a no-brainer Hall of Fame inductee. That's how great he was.
I noticed every time that MJ and his bulls sweep a team that team doesn't be the same again. Once you face the wrath of MJ that team or that player is done.
That is def not the case, Shaq didn’t get the amount he wanted from the Magic
Stupid title, Penny played hurt, Horace injured dislocated his elbow in game 1, then Anderson and Shaw followed in game 3. Return the situation, the Bulls lose Rodman in game 1, Kukoc and Kerr in game 3 and Pip played injured the whole series, what happens in your opinion ?
Bulls mj had hard times with opponents like shaq, hakeem with supreme talent in the shaded area.
Penny and GH were 2 of the biggest what ifs in the history of the game. Len Bias could be but wed never see glimpses of him like GH33 and PH1
Forgetting reggie lewis.
Air Penny 1s are still my fave shoes ever.
Mj and Denis Rodmann up 1996!what a Team
He deserves a show
The city I love... 407 Orlando The City Beautiful
I remember shaq and Penny and their duo was almost as lethal as Stockton and Malone in their prime.
Shaq leaving Orlando was 'litigated' for 25years? Wow
Man..the Magic’s was dangerous back in them days
I still have that "Repeat 3 - Peat" t shirt...
good times. The Orlando Magic were unlucky at exactly the wrong time to stay contenders ( Shaq leaving, Penny getting injured ). Lots of the fans here still salty about Shaq leaving Orlando for L A
If you were there to see him play. The term load management doesn't sound so crazy nowadays. Just imagine how different things would have been
Kobe's athleticism+Magic Johnson's Court vision
+Bill Walton's health=
and you got Penny
Penny should still get to the hof he had 7 great years
If Shaq kept his body from the magics days and stayed in Orlando while Penny never got injured, we might have seen another dynasty after the Bulls era was over.
Wish they show magic moments (30 for 30) on netflix.
So the title should be the Bulls destroyed them.
If Shaq didnt become all star struck, and stuck with ORL, they could have stayed contenders and probably won a title.
Jordan’s finals record got saved that year. The bulls would’ve lost to the rockets if they would’ve made it to the finals regardless. Lol
Nahhh michael take cares of them in 7 and im generous
Greg Hubbard well he lost before the finals so should’ve could’ve would’ve..
@@goated3285 In 1995 JORDAN was rusty
If Jordan never retires ...Dream would be ringless
Yeah you're kind of right. 6-1 maybe. No way does that Bulls team beat the Rockets. They had no answer for Shaq and Penny so the Dream and Drextler would have swept them also. But 2 be fair. The Rockets don't win back to back finals if Jordan didn't retire.
