  • Right now it's really hard to find anyone to play with and the struggle to level alone is real. Join me as I rant about the current state of partying in the official international Ragnarok Online servers and how this is pretty much a 1 player MMO now.

As a novice near the sewers, being mobbed by bugs and helped by this swordsman guy passing by, saving my life and asking me to join him so he could help me level and become a swordsman too, he was almost going for the knight quest. I would later get to know his wife and son. A natural spontaneous friendship that i will never forget this game for. Nostalgia at its finest.

Gravity just needs to remake this game and stay faithful to the original.

You literally do a better marketing for the game than Gravity.

  • @TehMarche

this is what happens when gravity kills private servers. now NOBODY wants to play ragnarok servers

I remember playing RO in a internet cafe in Bangkok, Thailand back in around 2003-2004. Man that was an amazing times when every PC was playing RO and we all team up in a party to level and go on a adventure together. Using skills from all the classes to support everyone. Now it is just a 1 player MMO....

thank you for being one of the few who show how badly this game has gotten. People love to parrot their love for this game by remembering the good old days, high on copium with nostalgia glasses on trying to ignore why the game has fallen off. I played pre ren, renewal years, on and off, and eventually finally decided to quit few years ago with no desire to ever return again. The only nostalgia i have left for this game is the bgm, i'm so done with the game. It has a lot more wrongs than rights than people want to admit. It has aged poorly, and has no future, especially with the way gravity ran it through the ground. I blame korean gaming culture for this, p2w, rng and grinding like a second work is the norm for them, global community is a second citizen to them, they have had this issue back then and still now, they'll never learn. Look at lost ark, bdo, etc etc, the list of dead, struggling korean mmo is a meme within the mmo community. They have not fixed their image of this for a decade. I see it not changing.

also dont use flywings, get a giant faceworm snake skin(1m each) and exchange them in merry badger inside eden to get a 10 day-belzeebub wing(teleport)

You’re absolutely right. I literally downloaded this game and played it for like 2 weeks to relive my memories. After 2 weeks, I was “done” and I stopped playing. Maybe I’ll log back on in a few years… if they’re still around. I’ll still listen to the BGM though.

Thanks for creating this video! I grew up playing RO since 2004. I played it on and off throughout the years and it'll always have a spot in my heart. I played in pRO, iRO, and many private servers. No other MMO has replaced it for me :( lately I've been longing to return again but I've always played as a priest on any servers I joined and now that it's empty, it would be impossible to play :(

I tried to replay ragnarok recently, to have some little fun with a childhood game, and i gave up after some time exactly because of that. No parties, everybody play solo, and every where i tried, looks like solo play was even more encoraged. Maybe i felt that more because i play more party dependent roles like tank and support, and felt asking the exact same question "Is it me? Am i doing something wrong?"

Great video! The only reason I got to play RO back when I was 16 (33 now) was via private servers. When Renewal dropped and it became F2P I decided to join iRO and pay for VIP and while it was fun, (got an FS Archbishop to 115), the game had changed way too much from what I used to love. On private servers you get to be part of a small community, while on iRO I constantly felt isolated despite the thousands of active players (and oh God, the bots).

Glad to have played during the golden age of iRO. Back when your only form of communication were forums and ventrilo, RO was your glorified chat room with hats. I even met my wife on iRO lol. We've thought about hopping back in and checking on our god items, but after watching your video I think we'll just stick to new experiences. Thanks for the vid!

It's always a good day when there's a new Amber Evelyn video! I recently returned to the game and main a ranger as well. I found this guild full of old players that have returned to RO and they have been absolutely amazing. They are super friendly and what I like the most about iRO since returning. It's the Gatecrashers guild. I will RODEX you, J_son.

Ragnarok Online was definitely nostalgia from high school (2000) to maybe a bit post college (2009) for me. At first it was iRO beta, but didn't have the money to pay for it online so switched to private servers back then. Boy what a TIME SINK it was back then and I only made it to a level 82 Hunter (bow and arrow, with hawk) which was considered a fast leveling job back then.

20 years ago, you can drop an item inside Lower Mid Prontera City and you won't be able to see it again for 2 reasons:

I agree with most of what you said. They've changed it recently so you can do the main quests or illusion dungeons to level up. Then once you're at a high level you can start doing instances like OGH or Faceworm Nest.

The teleport attack only really works if you can kill in one hit. Maybe you can try bounty board quests or the illusion dungeons. But love your videos. They are great content.

It's a shame they never remade Ragnarok properly.

I felt the same way. I was told at around the 150 mark, that's kind of the breaking point where you can potentially start really getting stronger and there's some quest gear sets etc that are decent. Thing is, just as you mentioned, it's not how I enjoyed ragnarok back in the days of alpha/beta/and release in 2003 for NA. So unfortunately, I've kind of thrown iro to the side and delved back into the pserver world again on a nice classic server with a little bit of custom content, no cash shop as of yet (tho talking about it for cosmetic only) and they really push for party leveling and not just soloing the whole time, though that can also be done just like before. It's been a great time, but it is classic in the full sense, it is 1x just as it was back in the day, so the grind is there, but I've really enjoyed it because I'm once again playing with people and making good friends in game. Completely feel where you're coming from though for sure.

I remember playing this way on turtle island leveling to 99 as a hunter. This was waaaay before they introduced ascended classes or whatever they're called. Unfortunately I was in a different time zone than the majority of my guild and was playing on Chaos when everyone was asleep. Never got to really experience iRO properly even though I hit 99 and never did MVPs.
