Crafting in Albion is important because literally every single item, every single drop in the game is crafted by players. Next time you loot an item click on it and you'll see it was crafted by a player. It's done through the Black Market system in Caerleon, you sell your crafted items to the Black Market and it is then used as drops from mobs. A really unique and intuitive way to balance an ingame economy imo.
@@TomDonnan the black market always buys items from players, if no players are selling the item that is supposed to drop the buy price goes higher and higher until the order is filled. so you can craft and sell an item to it for millions potentially. EDIT: I will say it still will drop an item, just an alternative one.
If they really want to balance the economy they need to put a 1-2 plot limit for cities per account/IP. These cartels just bully any new player who tries to build a plot to sell whatever he is trying to sell. Plus some cities are all owned by 1 player at some extremes.
@@TomDonnanmob drops are the demand for black market. For exemple : If the game doesnt have enough tier 6.2 acceptable quality hellion jacket (an item in the drop table of some mobs) it's price will go up in the black market. Someone will notice and sell some before the game would actually drop the item. In summary (it's not quite exact) the answer to ur question is that the game has a bank of items and can go on debt by raising the black market buy orders. Anyway the truth is dropping a rare item dropping it's value in silver cuz 99% of the time ur selling it there's no such thing as dropping a cool new weapon and equipping it right away like a chad past a few dozen hours.
@@NatoRadeXgo sell whatever you re trying to sell wdym you need a plot to sell ?? If you have enough money to buy plots and make money from taxes i'd say you're on the winning hand of the balance lmao. Go lose 100M in 8.3 in mist asap xD
To answer your question about crafting in Albion, it does make a load of money for a small minority. If no one crafted, the crafting would make you tons of money. This is because of the city you mentioned at the end, Caerleon. There is something called the Black Market here. The Black Market is similar to the Auction house/GE that most people would be used to. But instead of another player buying the Two-Handed Axe you are selling, the game buys it. Then the game takes your Axe and puts it into the loot pool for the reward chests that you open in PVE or PVP content. This is because nearly every item in the game you interact with (with the exception of crafting materials and things like experience tomes), was crafted by a player and sold to the black market. So if everyone in the game stopped crafting and supplying the black market, the game would eventually run out of loot for dungeon rewards (and the Black Market buys things at the lowest offer that people post it for, so eventually it would start to offer two to three times the value of an item for someone to supply it). Moreover, gear is lost to other players on death in full loot PVP zones (red and black zones). There is a chance that gear "trashes" and becomes completely worthless and unrepairable. So crafters make sure there is a balance in the system of the loot supplied to PVE-ers and the money that the game provides for crafted gear.
OOOOOH!!! So that's why most of the time, some legendary chests (outside of Roads of Avalon) had loot worth of less than a million silver because selling T6~T8.4 items was way rarer (all because of how less crafters/gatherers play this game due to gankers tho-, which results in less items to craft and sell)
@@everythingpony Player sell to the black market for better prices than the cities and the game uses the black market for loot drops. You can't buy off of it, only sell to.
This whole comment is accurate, but misses the fundamental point: All gear, consumables, and mounts in the game are crafted by players (with some minor exceptions such as low tier tutorial stuff, donkeys, tomes of insight, and some others - where the exceptions do not impact player interactions at the mid-late game.) You cannot own a tier 4 bow if someone didn't craft it. You cannot own a horse, if someone did not raise it and saddle it, and you cannot drink a health potion if someone did not craft it. Gathering is foundational - without it, there will be no materials for crafting. Crafting is essential, without it there would be no tools of war for people to use to fight, and the rest of us who can't be farced with crafting because we're too interested in fighting are farming silver to pay those people for their work. Most players at endgame take up gathering professions, many will take two or three and focus on them, but more dedicated players will train up all of them because it is very easy to just grab a gatherer set from the bank and go grab some materials and in a quick hour or two make a few million silver. It's one of the fastest and easiest active methods for earning silver in the game, and since it's a full loot PvP game, it's quite possible to burn through a lot of it very quickly :P
“Oh no, I don’t think-“ (I don’t comment much but I love your videos, and wanted you to know you have fans watching them all the way through! Keep up the good work!)

albion is a great game, but the reasons it isnt big is a few things right. full loot deaths scare casuals away, and zerg pvp controlled areas scare people away. if you have mechanics like that in a game its bound to never have a truly masive audience, but it is one of the few mmos around that still has a steady playerbase, i dont think that game needs any help and i dont think ppl arent aware of it existing

Yeah, every profitable PVE are always littered with PVP. Which sucks, because people who hunt PVE group will always be a win since they only bring their PVP gears, and Albion are very punishing when it comes to switching items mid fight. World boss -> A lot of low tier gear rats that will mess up your pull Ava raid -> Gankers / divers that will follow you and fight, your death is a huge loss because you bring two set (PVE and PVP), their kills are always a win because they get two set. There are no other noticeable PVE in lethal zone, and even these in lethal zone only relies on "dont get caught / spotted by enemies" in the first place. Which is kind of dumb.
The game is build for pvp and NOT for pve... that is the whole premise for it... on launch YZ Faction was also foolloot, so it became way softer compared to back than ... Albions strongpoint is the PVP and the fact that it is everywhere.
Just to clarify: it takes more than a year for a focused player to complete all branches of the equipment tree, so the "non-existent PVE in the endgame" is not a short-term statement. You will probably spend years playing PVE at maximum tier without completing the entire equipment tree. And I haven't even mentioned the crafting and gathering tree yet...
@@znttthefox369 I guess, if that is the only type of content someone is interested in. But most PVE players want substantial dungeons and raids with mechanics that don't require you to be a member of a big guild.

@@adoorknob7053 idk i find solo mists and group roads pve pretty fun. Its not thrilling but its engaging enough. Blackzone imo is pointless unless your in your guilds zone
Recon bots? I love how i got banned for 900 years for auto running in alpha, yet, we have recon bots. And they refused to unban me. I tried getting back into it at launch. Just couldn't. Burn out is real in this one.
I used to play Albion with some online friends. Outside of guildwide dungeon/ZvZ content, they all did *one* thing. They gathered, refined, crafted, farmed, OR did pvp- never more than a couple of these. Me? I tried to do everything, with varying levels of success. I actually got to T8 herb farming, maxed out a few fire and healing staves, crafted some T7 gear. But for the Idea of being-self sufficient? No, I would NOT recommend that ideal.
So, the crafting system is how the drops are generated. Any time you get an item from a chest in a dungeon or where ever. The game buys items from players from a special market. (It's a little more complicated than that but that's the basics)
Great video man, really had a blast watching it. I must say if you join a guild the layer of depth in the game tenfold, all the group content, guild dynamics and drama is pretty fun and also helps to keep the game engaging. One of my best memories in this game is playing in a small guild fighting to place a hideout in the black zone and claim our right to live there. It is true that the only lore this game has is the one that the players themselves create, and i think that is pretty dope.
Always been interested in albion maybe ill give ut a go now. Also please make a runelite plugin that plays Nigel Thornberry saying "smashing" when you use a dragon pickaxe spec
I have been playing AO for about a year and a half, I love the game, and you did a great job describing it, and yes, once your spec is high enough in crafting you can make good money, you also get higher yield in gathering as you spec up gathering.
Crafting items is really helpful when u get to T8. You can craft your item with max enchantment which u can not buy in the market. Oh and if you can craft a max enchantment gear you can attune them to add unique stats based on your playstyle.

Ya, I do feel like the premium price is kinda ridiculous, especially since it doesn't even really give you extra content, but once you get to a certain point, or if you get pretty good at the pvp it is actually pretty easy to fund you membership with in game currency. It definetly takes a while to get there (unless you have experience with similar style combat. If you are less mechanically talented you can get a group together and gank people. It is very possible to pay for your membership entirely with in game money once you get rolling.
its not an regular mmo its a PVPmmo with tiny microscopic pve in it and i even bought into the beta and never played it since it was entirely like eve online where you lose everything on death. Just not fun in my opinion, but the graphic styles does look nice still
A lot has changed since then, with tons of pve content, raids, etc. But yeah, the focus is full loot pvp, you gotta think of your gear like it's a consumable, like food or potions. You should maybe give it a go. If you bought the beta, you probably have founder skins that are worth a lot, and i mean A LOT of silver today.
I'm a vet in this game. This is the best MMORPG for people who like playing with others and for people who like pvp. The economy is 100% player driven. 99% of all items are crafted by players. All the mob drop items besides stones ARE crafted by players through the Blackmarket system. Large groups of players have debuffs in stats to balance PVP. There are only 3 servers, no channels. The game is the most alive MMO ever because of that decision. You can play with ANY quantity of friends: 1, 2,3,4,5,20,30,50, you name it. There is content for any group size. There are NO classes, you can play a HUGE number of combinations, and EVERYTHING you level is worth leveling since it powers upthe other branch weapons of the same tree. Having a guild feels amazing, the content you are able to participate is immense. There are all sorts of RISK REWARD mechanics in Albion. It is a full loot game, the higher the risk the higher the rewards. I've started on the new server (EU) in the blackzone. Dont be afraid of dying. Dying and losing everything in your equipment and bag is normal and thats why people buy cheap sets. And thats also why as a new player you can have a good experience. It is rare for people to go full maxed out to pvp zones, so you are not facing an Immortal being camping on you. All systems are meticously thought out, the timers to avoid spawn killing, the invisibility potion you can take to go to pvp zones to get away from spawn, the dismount cooldowns, the mount's health, the anti cc gear, the cc gear... Everything is polished. The coolest thing for me is going roads of Avalon wich limits groups to average 7 player count, with my discord friends and having small fights for the sweet sweet loot from players and the insane XP this zone provides!
@@TheOtrebor19 any form of solo pvp is hit and run. perhaps group content isnt. maybe you only play non lethal arenas tho. thats why cultist robe is always meta in cd's or any build that can reset endlessly. thats why stalker jacket builds have been meta in mists since day 1 with weapons like bloodletter. purely for mobility to hit and run.

I played Albion several years ago, but I only stuck with it for like 3 days. It's not that it wasn't fun or anything, but it was mainly two things that pushed me away: 1) seeing that END GAME, like tier 5 and 6 stuff or however high it goes, was basically all going to be PvP, and 2) seeing how long the grind was GOING to be.. I just said, nah, nope, not gonna get involved in that, see ya. Shame, really, cause it's not a bad game.
I’m so happy seeing this channel growing steadily. Idk how you edit and script but as someone who’s trying to do the UA-cam stuff too (on a different account) it definitely makes me curious. Your humor and niche resonate with me and I am taking notes
This is old but I just came across this dude. He literally just watched j1mmy as osrs content creator and does his videos the exact same way. So to answer your question, just take what others are doing and copy
We forgot the maffia and how it's allowed for horde players to rip on refining with bots and tax raises. It's just not a solo, nor beginner friendly piece of gamery.
two things that will turn me away from an mmo: 1. dailies/weeklies that are required to progress 2. to play effiencent you need to play multiple classes and do said dailies on them 1 part 2. bosses that you can only kill a limited number of times per day/week
At the end of the day, Albion has only one meaningful daily quest, and it is for 10 learning points, which is very helpful. Even when I wasn't actively playing the game, when I was bored I would log in on my phone and chop a couple trees just to get my learning points. It was fun, it was just enough. Albion also has daily crafting bonuses and 2-day rotating activity bonuses. Crafting bonuses add some strategy for crafting, which won't affect you unless you like crafting. Activity bonuses are right-sized. They give a real incentive to try a part of the game you haven't tried before without making your go-to activity a waste of time.
1. the dailies in albion are not important you dont need to do them. 2. you dont need to level multiple weapons and gear if you want to play only one type of content. 3. albion is not a gacha game you can grind all day long.
binging this channel rn despite my very limited mmorpg experience... your attitude and video style is not only very entertaining and charming but its addicting and making me wanna get back into mmorpg stuff reeeeeeaal bad despite my lack of money or time to do so. super good content
I played quite a bit of albion (around 250 hours). For me too much focus on open world pvp which is almost always unfair, it makes some experiences especially rewarding, but most of the time will leave you salty after you losing everything over and over again to a bunch of gankers
legit the exact reason why i stopped playing. I worked my ass off to get the ability to gather high tier resources with tools i crafted myself. Hours of my time put into this game, and from time to time money put into the game that i was having a good time with. well cut too this month when i realized how im basically at the mercy of gankers if i want to continue my gatherer journey as im forced to go into PVP zones to harvest and gather and it sucks. its actually almost impossible. so i quit, i wont waste my time like that, hoping that the hours of my life pay off, only to realize they wont pay off, and im actually being held back from "play the game the way I wanted to play", which is the games way of trying to attract players with that moniker. Its a good game, its well made, and you can tell the dev team cares, but its just not for me anymore and it sucks. I didnt think this would happen with a game I constantly talk positive about. I dont mind ganks in games for the record. It just doesn't feel right in Albion online I can't put my finger on it.
@@bagofchips885 honestly i dont even think it would be a problem if the game didnt sell itself as one of those "do what you want games". no its not one of those games. yes you can be a fisherman and just fish and contribute to economy and buy stuff sure, but you will be stuck in low level zones forever if you dont want to PVP, and you will never be able to work your way up the rarity tier of fish.
I was one of those fishermen, I got to tier 8 fishing in the red zones, but it wasn't fun. I stayed hours in the same map and same spots because it was the only viable way to get good fish, and every time a flagged name appeared on the corner of the screen I needed to run for my life. And the black zones are even worst. So much time wasted...@@sketch2347
The crafting system in Albion is pretty much the backbone of the game. The items crafted by players are used to keep the games economy going and through caerleon's black market they become loot drops for mobs. Some servers like EU servers who dont have, for example, players with islands to craft mounts like the riding horse that server is out of luck and their markets or mobs won't be able to feed the need. This also means that prices fluctuate in a way that is very closeley similar to our real world economic systems. Its really just incredible.
I like the player driven economy in this game, but too many bots took over blue and yellow zones. It's very hard for new players to make enough silver to buy premium.
@@baumapfel4463 That's the problem. Black zone are fun, but it's very stressful when grinding there for hours. Sometimes I just want to be a filthy casual and chill out in the safe zonle.
Idyl bro you're funny as shit. Great content as always just wanted to tell you almost every single bit you do actually makes me laugh out loud or at the very least exhale air more quickly from my nostrils.
I was kind of interested in the Albion Online from this video, until the point where it talks about the cash shop, i was like "holy shit, that's a lot of stuff you can buy, i'm out of here".
It's only cosmetics and offers the ability to trade for ingame usable currency, if you think that's bad then just know it was gonna happen anyways since people RMT in every game just like runescape...
There are a number of "starter bundles" that give you cosmetics for the price of premium itself. So, free cosmetics. I never use them. In a WoW-type game, you raid the final boss and get epic armor and its cool. In Albion, if you die you drop your gear. All gear is basically consumable. So, no gear is epic show off gear. Cosmetics just give you a theme. It is completely unrelated to the game, and it is just for fun.
Used to play albion for a few years and was a crafter/zerg player in the black zone for a medium sized guild... I used to maintain 6 accounts with 3 characters each all with premium just with the crafting(did not spend a cent for premium just for cosmetics)... what I did was buy and transport stuff in all the cities and would mainly craft meta items for Zerg vs Zerg(ZVZ) in all the cities and eventually got tired of it as was basically doing it like a job... the best and worst part for me was the ZVZ in the game.
Albion crafting system is such that you only make money if you use focus and fill journals while crafting, otherwise you will at best break even. Aside from having to have premium to really use focus, I actually like how it works because it forces you to specialize on just one crafting type, but one specific thing like if you do cooking, you will use your focus more efficiently if you max out specifically pies, then it’s like yeah you’re the pie guy in your city and every day you got your eyes on what pies are selling for, it’s like a stock market mini game.
advice for new players: don't gather or craft, get some silver from yellow zones, use that silver to go the red or black zones (mists are good), focus on one weapon at a time, save up for premium (then you can gather and craft bcs it saves a lot of time), AAAND only use learning points on gathering
so also it didnt seem like you touched on the market enough which is completely player driven as well as drops from dungeons, everthing on the market was either crafted or gathered by another player, as well as any gear drops dungeons, which come through the black market in the center city. So gathering and crafting fuels pvp as well as the economy as a whole.
As a OSRS (3yr) player that moved to Albion it was funny watching your vid. I know exactly how your transition was. Albion has it all, worse camera movement, jankyer traversal, boring grinds, more pay-2-lose. The faction warfare discords are hella fun. And the guild structure is more meaningful than OSRS. And the best thing, no questing and spacebar pounding......
Albion is like a 4/10 it is definitely not the best MMORPG lol. I've played better mobile games than Albion. Funny video though love your content Idyl.
So; TL;DR: - which skills you are leveling depends on what you are using to level - the skill tree is immense, but it's actually a merged overview of RS's many skill menu's - equipment tier system is similar to Minecraft's pickaxe system - combat is simplified RS3 combat oh no... I don't, think
@@Kenionatus was considering that, but at that point it would make more sense to compare it to something like CS:GO or smth, since the skills vary depending on the weapon. Moba would be more like WoW combat
The reason I'm comparing it to MOBAs is because both have a small number of abilities with relatively long cooldowns, where the player skill lies in using them at the right time in the right situation. Albion and MOBAS also share the concept of spammable and ultimate abilities, so if it's comparable to a shooter then a hero shooter like Overwatch.@@MrSimpsondennis
Got a bit burned from OSRS and tried a bit of Albion. It's fun at the start but the novelty wears off quickly. If you want to try out this game and do some pvm/pve, don't do it, this game it's focussed around pvp. Probably the best way to enjoy Albion is to play it with a group of friends or guild(with other people that want to do pvp). It's not a very good game to play as a solo player. Generally I want a world that feels lively(other players around) but want to play mostly solo. It's a sandbox pvp mmo, and most of my negative feedback has to do with me looking for a different type of game. So here we go: Once you've done a couple of dungeons, you have seem them all. There are limited amount of mob types. The map is not special, it's a just a bunch of squares linked togheter with no remarkable points of interest. You don't get the wow-factor that you get with other mmos when you discover a new big city. Speaking of cities in Albion, apart from aesthetics and crafting/refining bonusses they all feel like carbon-copies of eachother. Speaking of crafting/refining/gathering, if you don't have premium don't even bother, it will just result in losses. There is no point without premium. You can do stuff like the mists, so you don't encounter large groups. But you will encounter people with double your IP there, and even if you play it perfectly you will still lose because the other person out-gears you. Don't come in and expect it be a competitve environment with a level playing field. Don't come in and expect quests, meanining full gathering/craftging, pve. Only play this game if you like the combat system and like pvp.
Okay a player here with over 10.000+ hours in albion online (ex-player tbh). The game starts off great thats 100% true, looking back that was my best time it. To get your first cow mount, to get the first few hundred K silver, get your island and your crops going etc. But then it just gets worse and worse and worse. You cant play solo (if you looking for solo game, just look elsewhere), you are forced to cooperate with all kinds of stupid people or people who simply seeking their own gain and leave you to die. But lets say you get lucky and you find your second family over there. You are still going to be grinded down between two wheels. 1. You will be a small spec of dust with no power: You (your guild) dont own any high tier black zones, you dont own any safe land where you can safely farm up from high tier resources / dungeons etc; you will have absolutely no money or you will have to work for the same amount of money 10x more, and you will feed the big guys guilds with your corpses and loots day by day. 2. You will be a small spec of dust with almost no power: You (your guild) does own a high tier black zone, or own hideouts in influental zones. Now you can run around the high tier zone, watch how every resource is already farmed out, or being farmed out by your "teammates". If you get lucky or just have a ton of time, you can eventually find some high tier resources and farm them, trying to dodge rival guilds ganking squads to make it back to the HO, thinking to yourself that "ohh boy, this is nothing... you have to transport it all the way back to the main cities and how hard that will be". Ofc being part of the guild has its benefits as i described, but has its downsides: you have to go to CTA every day/multiple days a week. That means maxing out specs that you dont want for the team (like a job) and then come up multiple times a week to defend those aforementioned high tier zones from the enemy guild. How does this looks like? Well you wil have to follow your shotcaller that means running around in a zerg with 2fps around multiple black zones until you find the enemies (this can take hours) or the enemies decide to attack. Then you will be probably dead in the first few second or if you are lucky you can do that for 2+ more hours.
If you want a solo game, why not play one of the many single player rpg's out there? To me the point of an MMO is to play with others, having a 100v100 guild fight where other guilds can potentially come to third party you, or rat you is a whole other experience. Also its not THAT hard to join a top 20 guild, but of course you will have to follow their rules/system.
Man honestly thats your experience, cause is the "meta" experience of the game but for me, i played always on chill guilds, idk if it is cause us hispanic community are always more friendly or chaotic, but on that guilds i met so many good people! People you laughed with on a gaming night doing group pve or even yell each other and hyping each other after going roaming on bz, repeating the next day, and they didnt wanted me to tryhard the game and be "efficient" even the leader that had 1.2b pvp fame didnt wanted to milk us for content, honestly i dont regret playing this game cause was one of the best online game experiences i had in my life! ;)
Part of the reason for the crafting grind is the upgrading of already existing gear. There is a merchant in the towns that lets you roll for a bonus to items that you give him, usually ur already equipped gear, and u can make ur items more powerful without needing to craft higher tier gear. BUT u have to bring him the raw materials for this. This is basically a flat bonus to things like damage, cast time and attack speed
i played both albion and old school runescape but god osrs is so much better although i wish that some things in albion could be ported like the fact that the game is very dependent on other players
@@paulallen2680 in albion there isnt any quest or anything like osrs has in osrs there is a lot of quests which to me is more exciting because it puts a little bit of a path for you to move on but in albion its like YOU are the one who chooses what you do and no quests dictate that its a little bit harder for me to play like that
@@paulallen2680 also it seems that most people that talked to me about albion say the skilling is very limited so once you've run out of content you just do pvp and im more of a pve/skilling person in osrs and in osrs there is almost infinite content for that
The idea behind crafting ties tightly to Black Market which you can only find in Caerleon. For every drop you get when killing mobs or opening chests, those drops are managed by the system. And Black Market npc is a market which is run by the system. You can't purchase stuffs from Black Market, you can only fill their demands and in return they pay you. So imagine yourself crafting 50 pieces of the same gear, cuz you want the crafting fame or something similar to that. No one is going to just buy all 50 of them. But with Black Market, you can fulfill around 10 pieces of their orders every 5-10 minutes. That's when crafting becomes very lucrative.
ok ok I have a F ton of hours in albion and u want to know the reason why I still play this game? PROGRESSION. This game does prgression REALLY well and it stimulates my ADHD brain knowing I am improving all the time.
Albion Online started off very strong for me. crafting actually felt useful unlike other MMOs. I hit a massive roadblock going from T3 to T4 (i think at least, not loggin into the game to check lol) as crafting just became such a slog it was no longer fun. I don't mind grinds (hell im doing mlm on OSRS as i type this) but such a crafting heavy game shouldnt have shared resources. That and knowing for every resource I collected i was at a disadvantage because i wasnt a premium member (small benefits sure but still a benefit). That and learning everything basically lead into PVP. Want to do the best PVE stuff?? Well good luck as its in a PVP zone which is NOT optional PVP. Those just really killed my enjoyment of the game.
You shouldn’t be crafting all your own gear. It’s basically a waste of time. You craft mass quantities to make money and then buy the single items you need. But crafting like that without premium will always lose money. As for the heir tier content you should join a guild and make friends. Albion is actually an mmo where you need to play with others to do content
@@cooltjh4 Make a spreadsheet. Crafting is the only thing I do to make silver in Albion and I do just fine without premium. I just don't craft things if they're not profitable. It's always possible to find something else to craft.
The game kills itself by having all black zones controlled by ganking guild cartels. The majority of the endgame content is undoable. Add in the fact that people are years ahead in grinding, means we are not only fighting Superman, but it’s usually an entire squad of supermen hunting us down on every black zone map. Markets are so monopolized that crafting is like trying to start up a mom and pop drug store, next to 20 Walmarts. Add in the most toxic backstabbing community. GG

Albion is not for everybody. You barelly scraped surface. It's a high demanding pvp game or pve with pvp involved. Basially Imagine you had only wilderness in osrs. Yeah you have blue/yellow/red areas where's there's limited pvp but it takes week or so to geow past that. Majority of time from mid to end game content are black zones with full drop enabled. If you want to do pve there, be on the look out for gangers. It's awesome for people who loves pvp, or like being on somewhat on edge durring pve. But most fun comes from group activities and fights. Stakes are high, therefore more fun to win.
I played Albion cause my buddy said “hey, play this game with me” and proceeded to abandon me after one session. Over all it’s interesting enough to keep the dedicated base invested, but I don’t like the dailies or lack of concrete progression/unlocks. I bought an island and farmed animals for a couple weeks, completed a corrupted dungeon a night, and promptly forgot it existed until you brought it up. The best part for me is how reminiscent the combat is of early league of legends, but that’s also a downside because it requires much more attention than I’m willing to give an mmo on a consistent basis. Thanks for shedding light on this coolio game idyl
This game would've been very good if it weren't for one big mistake: mobile compatibility. Back in 2017 when they decided the game had to be mobile compatible I knew it wouldn't be as good as it could.
Having a lot of experience with many mmo's and their history.. the reason nobody is playing it is because most people know this one won't last. You should especially be warry of free to play mmo's in general. I don't know of any one that is actually good and that lasted. It might be good now, but as you know, an mmo is a time investment, and this one will make you regret that in 1-2 years from now.
@@Ghi102Thats not the same. A free to play portion of an mmo that is essentially a "trial", like Runescape or Final Fantasy 14 or even WoW has is not the same as full free to play mmo. You still have to pay a monthly sub to get to the actual game (through FF14's is very generous). Or, in the case of Runescape you can get a bond; but someone still paid for that at some point. Once its actually fully free to play, you'll get a whole slew of issues of how they're trying to make money off of you. On top of that its a PVP focussed MMO, those are even less likely to do well over time; because a small active portion of players gain all the power and everyone else gets left in the dust... and no new players will come in.
@@SawGudman Thats just them preparing it for the whale market. They'd rather have a sub-par game where a handful of people spend a ton of money on. Even more reason to not touch that game at all.
I have to say, I quite like the simple combat mechanics. There are so many pieces of gear that it's already hard enough to gain good game knowledge. (PvE is rather meh compared to MMOs that focus more on it, but that is imo at least as much due to it not being the main focus of the devs.) @@SawGudman
What are you talking about? You can only purchase gold for the game sure you can buy some higher tier gear but you don’t need it in any way and I regularly beat people in gear that is 2-3 tiers higher than my own.
@@Real-Ruby-Red It's a full loot pvp game. Players don't mind (actually i'd say most enjoy) fighting whales and players in higher gear tiers because they are very profitable to kill and the difference in power between the tiers is not that high. If you fight whales in 8.4 gear 40 times (which is very rare sight btw) while you wear 8.0, you only need to win once to break even. Whales in albion mostly have a really bad time, since if you're not a decent player, no matter the gear you're wearing, you're just a loot pinãta.
@@Pixelest001 I'd like someone to find me an mmo where players don't purchase in game money lol. Sure the actual devs allow you to purchase in game money which is a pay to win offering, but lets be real, players would purchase in game money even if the devs didnt offer it. It is just something that will always exist in games like this, you will always have people farming in game currency and selling it for real world money
Albion is pay to win? LoL, try me then, lets go 1v1 with your 8.4 gear in the black zones, with my 8 flat gear and I'll show you the reason why Albion isn't pay to win.
...if only the grind is less enough to afford any gear they lost from full-loot PvP zone due to how mediocre the chest loot had in comparison to marketplace item pricing
Just a few things, pvp also exists in bz if you re flagged for faction ( and you encounter someone of a rival faction ) or you accept a duel. And.. you don t gain focus daily without premium
About Crafting: What is special about Albion as a Sandbox is that the whole economy is Player-driven, meaning that the game itself does not produce equipment (like armor or weapons) -> They are ALL player-crafted This is due to the Black Market (in Caerleon). When you loot an item out of a chest in a dungeon, you are not getting a game-generated item, but something that another player crafted and sold to the black market, which distributes those items throughout the world. (You can even see the crafter's name on the item) That is also how the system balances itself. The more players craft, the more loot there is and the less items are worth -> leading to people tending to do other content instead. If less people craft it, the value goes up, and loot becomes less, -> doing dungeons becomes less profitable and more players tend towards crafting again. Also what you mentioned about higher-level crafting: Most players don't craft every item they wear. Rather, they specialize in crafting certain items (which will in turn make it more efficient the higher your crafting spec is), they will buy-order the materials, craft en masse, and then sell it across different markets (which is also a thing because every city has a separate market) then they will buy whatever they need for themselves. Of course, there are many different ways to play the market, like Transporting between the cities, selling to the black market, manipulating market prices, investing into high-value items, but that would go into too much depth here What might still be worth mentioning: There are actually many players buying Premium with Silver, but it is hard to do for a new player. Investing and making money becomes easier the more you get to know the game, and the more silver you can spend on investments as well. There is no 1 way to make money though, everyone needs to find their own niche to profit from.
Short version: the game is ok, besides forcing the full loot PVP, and community management is toxic and disrespectful. Long version: Albion is far from the best MMORPG, it is not bad, but the fact you are forced into full loot zones, plus toxic, disrespectful, petty and Draconian moderation, the worst customer support and general SBI's attitude towards players, even founders of their servers is making this game problematic. I recently got permbanned on forums for "being toxic" because I stood up for YZ faction warfare PVP players, I also once got banned for 30 days because I posted that support is unhelpful, they didn't even delete my threads. On the forum, moderators help trash the topics by posting off-topic stuff. I had a moderator spamming my thread with unrelated nonsense, and when I told her not to do that, I got banned for hounding the moderators. Because you have to read in a topic about faction warfare repairs about what movies and their endings moderator likes. And if you mention the game admin's forum account, moderators edit it out. Ah, about combat - this is not a sandbox, you either play meta or you always lose. And no, the game without premium is not viable, you will never make profit from crafting, gathering, refining, or farming without premium. This is not possible. This is why big, old rich players have 200 crafting chars which are premium because they accumulate so much silver they can pay for it. All economy balancing changes only hit new players. Faction Warfare, especially in yellow zones, is the only reason to play this game. Unfortunately SBI doesn't understand it.
Unfortunately that's just another video about positive aspects of Albion Online begining experience. Which literrally dries up after 100 hours of gameplay. Later you just find toxic ganking enviroment, elitist guilds, no way to realistically catch up. Pay to win gold buyers, RMT in way of guild buying each other etc.
Depending of what u gather u must go to the city that have that resources, on bridgewatch leather and fiber is more common, for wood is lymhurt etc etc
if it wasn't for 90% of the game being forced PvP it would be very enjoying. But unfortunately it turns into a complete unenjoyable game after the first time you have to venture into the tier PvP zones where the game turns into complete Gank rpg and no longer is enjoyable..i defiantly would not recommend this to anyone other then players that just want to steal gear from players that have no idea what there playing..this is not MMORPG focused.. it is 99% forced PvP rpg..
The importance of crafting in albion is, everything is made by players, literally everything In Caerleon you have the black market, with is basically: When a player opens a chest, there is a 10% chance you get a Sword, if the black market have a Sword, yey you get a sword, if not, you don't get a sword, but he increase the price of that sword in the Black Market, so you can sell the sword to the game so the next time a person drops a sword, he gets a sword, made by you :D So everytime you get something from a chest or a mob that item was crafted by a player in some point, also when you die in a Red or Black Zone, there is a chance your gear explodes, so that keeps the demand for new stuff all the time, specially the high level gear so people can win more in PvP In a nutshell, you can make money either selling directly to players in the central market of every city, or risking a bit and selling it to the game via the Black Market Is the best crafting system i ever seen in a mmo, not becouse the system perce, but all the games systems working together so in some point somebody have to craft the stuff people is using
The way the combat system of Albion Online works is similar to moba combat system (which also my style of gameplay), which is why most moba players play this mmo game. But other than that, its "tier list" tier is alongside FF14, ESO, WoW, Warframe, Old School Runescape, EVE Online, and Black Desert Online, however, this tier still won't get into the higher tier that "Guild Wars 2" sitting for (I supposed to include Old School Runescape if it wasn't for its outdated combat type known as "tab targetting" 😅) specially its everything it had Edit: Anyway, can you please also try Guild Wars 2? If already made a video about this game, please give the video link
Crafting in albion is the most important thing because without it, there would be no equippable items in the game. Every item you wear, besides the tier 1 items and tier 2 donkey the game gives you, was crafted by a player. The whole trading market is dictated all by players in each city's market, as well as the gold/silver market being influenced by the players as well. All this combines to create a true player driven sandbox world.

That's a cool loot system. How does it work if nobody is selling the items that the mob drops though, does it just drop nothing in that case?
For exemple :
If the game doesnt have enough tier 6.2 acceptable quality hellion jacket (an item in the drop table of some mobs) it's price will go up in the black market.
A good explanation of the black market, it is rather unique to AO.
OOOOOH!!! So that's why most of the time, some legendary chests (outside of Roads of Avalon) had loot worth of less than a million silver because selling T6~T8.4 items was way rarer (all because of how less crafters/gatherers play this game due to gankers tho-, which results in less items to craft and sell)
@@KevinZ.000wait its real? Where is it? I wanna buy on thr black market
@@everythingpony Player sell to the black market for better prices than the cities and the game uses the black market for loot drops. You can't buy off of it, only sell to.
This whole comment is accurate, but misses the fundamental point: All gear, consumables, and mounts in the game are crafted by players (with some minor exceptions such as low tier tutorial stuff, donkeys, tomes of insight, and some others - where the exceptions do not impact player interactions at the mid-late game.)
You cannot own a tier 4 bow if someone didn't craft it.
It's one of the fastest and easiest active methods for earning silver in the game, and since it's a full loot PvP game, it's quite possible to burn through a lot of it very quickly :P

bro injected so much humor into this video, deserves more subs
The coolest thing for me is going roads of Avalon wich limits groups to average 7 player count, with my discord friends and having small fights for the sweet sweet loot from players and the insane XP this zone provides!

two things that will turn me away from an mmo:
1. dailies/weeklies that are required to progress
2. to play effiencent you need to play multiple classes and do said dailies on them
1 part 2. bosses that you can only kill a limited number of times per day/week
None of that applies to albion, but that doesn't mean doesn't have it's cons.
1. the dailies in albion are not important you dont need to do them.
2. you dont need to level multiple weapons and gear if you want to play only one type of content.
3. albion is not a gacha game you can grind all day long.
@@Matt-eg9dlI've literally been playing since beta and I didn't know there was a learning point daily.

binging this channel rn despite my very limited mmorpg experience... your attitude and video style is not only very entertaining and charming but its addicting and making me wanna get back into mmorpg stuff reeeeeeaal bad despite my lack of money or time to do so. super good content
@@bagofchips885 honestly i dont even think it would be a problem if the game didnt sell itself as one of those "do what you want games".
no its not one of those games. yes you can be a fisherman and just fish and contribute to economy and buy stuff sure, but you will be stuck in low level zones forever if you dont want to PVP, and you will never be able to work your way up the rarity tier of fish.
the lack of any substantial pve. also, crafting sucks since its so expensive since the game doesnt have a standard fee...
@@lovathon6365 yeah you really have to hope the station owners dont tax your crafting to death
Yeah! Most bots stole nearby resources from nearby real players, which is simple but irritating
if you want to make money dont waste your time in blue and yellow zones go in to black zone/mists with a cheap set
@@baumapfel4463 That's the problem. Black zone are fun, but it's very stressful when grinding there for hours. Sometimes I just want to be a filthy casual and chill out in the safe zonle.
That doesn't matter cuz you can't make prem in yellow or blue zone lol. Shouldn't be In those zone anyways it won't get u anywhere.
Yeah bots own the safe zones and guilds/gankers own the others.

The cosmetic shop was a big nope, glad it was highlighted
@@johnhale2632 I play AO and you are correct that is mostly cosmetic, and RMT is a real issue is many MMO's
It is completely unrelated to the game, and it is just for fun.
you can turn off cosmetics in this game
Used to play albion for a few years and was a crafter/zerg player in the black zone for a medium sized guild... I used to maintain 6 accounts with 3 characters each all with premium just with the crafting(did not spend a cent for premium just for cosmetics)... what I did was buy and transport stuff in all the cities and would mainly craft meta items for Zerg vs Zerg(ZVZ) in all the cities and eventually got tired of it as was basically doing it like a job... the best and worst part for me was the ZVZ in the game.
This man seems like he's losing his mind and it's beautiful. Loving the direction your channel is going - as a osrs only player.
Faction chat sounds awesome. I'm sold!
Just here to say as a near two year player of this game if your new save your learning points for gathering!
That sounds like a lot of "play the game MY way or dont play at all"
@@Egghead012 no it sounds like a great advice for new players
You should review every mmorpg like that. Or atleast the ones that are popular or have high active player count.
in FFXIV you actually can start from desert funny enough if you choose Ul'dah as ur choise from 3 starting areas! So some MMO start with desertt!!
I’m not even lying I saw the tire v dagger earlier
so also it didnt seem like you touched on the market enough which is completely player driven as well as drops from dungeons, everthing on the market was either crafted or gathered by another player, as well as any gear drops dungeons, which come through the black market in the center city.
What are some other good games?
This man said, "i tried it out as a tank with a battle axe." Lmfao
So; TL;DR:
- which skills you are leveling depends on what you are using to level
- the skill tree is immense, but it's actually a merged overview of RS's many skill menu's
- equipment tier system is similar to Minecraft's pickaxe system
- combat is simplified RS3 combat
oh no... I don't, think
The combat was too simplified. It got boring after a few weeks and I never went back.
I would compare combat more with a moba than with RS3.
So here we go:
Once you've done a couple of dungeons, you have seem them all.
Everyone else has failed to mention what you have👏 game aint shit without premium😂
damn dude the seinfield part *chefs kiss*
People you laughed with on a gaming night doing group pve or even yell each other and hyping each other after going roaming on bz, repeating the next day, and they didnt wanted me to tryhard the game and be "efficient" even the leader that had 1.2b pvp fame didnt wanted to milk us for content, honestly i dont regret playing this game cause was one of the best online game experiences i had in my life! ;)
Best description of the end game.
OH NO. HE USES HIS LEARNING POINTS FOR COMBAT LEVELING. GG
The game is utter garbage. The devs have nerfed solo play into the ground and the community has no morals at all. Avoid like the plague.
I've never spent so much time and effort developing my character in a MMORPG. This game truly changed my ways
Now Albion Online has a new class, the shapeshifter, Where you can transform into mythical creatures with the magic staff
I have been looking for a sandbox mmo because runesscape UI for me a new player is unbearable so thank you for this
i played both albion and old school runescape but god osrs is so much better although i wish that some things in albion could be ported like the fact that the game is very dependent on other players

This game does prgression REALLY well and it stimulates my ADHD brain knowing I am improving all the time.
idk about albion, but im glad i found your youtube man. really apreciated the fun video and your sense of humor
@@Pixelest001 even crafting WITH premium loses you money, hell crafting with fame loses money too.
GG
i remember getting banned from an guild intern pvp tournament because i had a poison dot/self heal dot build where i gave my enemy dots and went invisible or used the stonecutter boots to run away lmao
12:33 whoa that was a close one, almost had a complete existential thought!
Stakes are high, therefore more fun to win.
if we could get a short mini series of you doing gameplay commentary that would be amazing

I mean Runescape has had f2p for years that is pretty decent

When I played Albion years ago it was incredibly pay-to-win, but in the sense that you had to pay in order to win. No amount of grinding was enough.
What are you talking about? You can only purchase gold for the game sure you can buy some higher tier gear but you don’t need it in any way and I regularly beat people in gear that is 2-3 tiers higher than my own.
@@Pixelest001Your own comment defeats your opinion.
I got an ad for Albion watching this, like im already watching a really long ad you dont need to give me another one
About Crafting:
What is special about Albion as a Sandbox is that the whole economy is Player-driven, meaning that the game itself does not produce equipment (like armor or weapons) -> They are ALL player-crafted
This is due to the Black Market (in Caerleon). When you loot an item out of a chest in a dungeon, you are not getting a game-generated item, but something that another player crafted and sold to the black market, which distributes those items throughout the world. (You can even see the crafter's name on the item)
That is also how the system balances itself.
Rather, they specialize in crafting certain items (which will in turn make it more efficient the higher your crafting spec is), they will buy-order the materials, craft en masse, and then sell it across different markets (which is also a thing because every city has a separate market)
then they will buy whatever they need for themselves.
Of course, there are many different ways to play the market, like Transporting between the cities, selling to the black market, manipulating market prices, investing into high-value items, but that would go into too much depth here
What might still be worth mentioning: There are actually many players buying Premium with Silver, but it is hard to do for a new player.
There is no way i can ever get Albiboob Online out of my head again
Unfortunately that's just another video about positive aspects of Albion Online begining experience. Which literrally dries up after 100 hours of gameplay. Later you just find toxic ganking enviroment, elitist guilds, no way to realistically catch up. Pay to win gold buyers, RMT in way of guild buying each other etc.
Depending of what u gather u must go to the city that have that resources, on bridgewatch leather and fiber is more common, for wood is lymhurt etc etc
UO Outlands would be an extremely interesting, but tough video to do. It’s so unforgiving but it’ll hook ya.
This feels like a very J1mmy-inspired video editing style, and I love that.
That giraffe was so scary!! Careful with the jumpscares.
You had me at "demon fang". I will not explain myself
if it wasn't for 90% of the game being forced PvP it would be very enjoying.
5:54 I love how he curses on the public chat for no reason xD
The importance of crafting in albion is, everything is made by players, literally everything
In Caerleon you have the black market, with is basically: When a player opens a chest, there is a 10% chance you get a Sword, if the black market have a Sword, yey you get a sword, if not, you don't get a sword, but he increase the price of that sword in the Black Market, so you can sell the sword to the game so the next time a person drops a sword, he gets a sword, made by you :D
So everytime you get something from a chest or a mob that item was crafted by a player in some point, also when you die in a Red or Black Zone, there is a chance your gear explodes, so that keeps the demand for new stuff all the time, specially the high level gear so people can win more in PvP
In a nutshell, you can make money either selling directly to players in the central market of every city, or risking a bit and selling it to the game via the Black Market
Is the best crafting system i ever seen in a mmo, not becouse the system perce, but all the games systems working together so in some point somebody have to craft the stuff people is using
i didnt realize that a video yelling "Speak to your computer screen!" would actually make me say something, gj
The way the combat system of Albion Online works is similar to moba combat system (which also my style of gameplay), which is why most moba players play this mmo game.
But other than that, its "tier list" tier is alongside FF14, ESO, WoW, Warframe, Old School Runescape, EVE Online, and Black Desert Online, however, this tier still won't get into the higher tier that "Guild Wars 2" sitting for (I supposed to include Old School Runescape if it wasn't for its outdated combat type known as "tab targetting" 😅) specially its everything it had
Edit: Anyway, can you please also try Guild Wars 2? If already made a video about this game, please give the video link
Crafting in albion is the most important thing because without it, there would be no equippable items in the game. Every item you wear, besides the tier 1 items and tier 2 donkey the game gives you, was crafted by a player. The whole trading market is dictated all by players in each city's market, as well as the gold/silver market being influenced by the players as well. All this combines to create a true player driven sandbox world.
