  • We will take you through all the parts we used to rebuild our Budget 387 Stroker as we get ready to rebuild. Hopefully, this will help anyone planning to build one for themselves and get a good idea of where to start. By no means do you have to use everything we did, but hopefully, this will help steer some people in the right direction.

      I'd love to find a unique car to build! Maybe the next one, we just gotta get this one ready for Hot Rod Drag Week!

    with that intake closing early (39-44) deg your dynamic compression is high, you will need to run at least a mix of 93 and 110

      We're running 110-112 race gas. We're getting ready to do an E85 swap tho

      running a little bigger cam might have helped some

      Definitely plan to upgrade more in the future! Needed to get a baseline to reference from.

    I’m doing a very similar build. I’m sticking with 351w internals. I splurged on renegade 185’s 58cc with upgrade on springs and rocker studs. Also bought new tko 600 long before tkx was released. Been 5 years collecting all the parts. I measured 7.6685 on pushrods. I’m using same rocker arms as yours. Also summit 8902 cam hoping the factory dish pistons help with valve clearance. Any advice on oil pump. I have a high volume because originally planned on going with junk yard shortblock. But have read that it may be too much and floods heads and valve seals. At this point I’m really watching my costs. Don’t have the $$ I had a few years ago.

      We have run Melling standard volume standard pressure on all our builds and haven't had any issues with oil pressure. However, I definitely recommend upgrading your oil pump drive shaft.

    Do you have to do the clearance in the cylinder walls, for this build? I might just go 351w lol

    • @QuarterHorseCustoms
      @QuarterHorseCustoms  5 місяців тому

      Yes the bottom of the Cylinder walls will need a little grinding to clear the rod Bolts.

    I am eye balling the Summit 303 Plus for my budget 302 for my car. How does it handle on the street? I could only find a couple of idle clips online, but it sounds mean.

    • @QuarterHorseCustoms
      @QuarterHorseCustoms  8 місяців тому +1

      I absolutely love it, only issue I have on the street is that my compression ratio is high so I'm running 110 race fuel so it's expensive, other than that there is absolutely no complaints about the cam!

      @@QuarterHorseCustoms thank you for the feedback. For the price, it looks like a real winner. I was also looking at the Trick Flow 2 or 3, but I'm extremely cheap, and the Summit looks like an even better deal.

      I apologize for the late reply, I was also looking at those, I did the compare and for the price I couldn't argue with the summit brand.

    Nice build what’s the actual compression ratio ? Is it 12.1

    • @QuarterHorseCustoms
      @QuarterHorseCustoms  7 місяців тому

      According to Summit Racing compression calculator it's about 11.91:1 it definitely does not like 93 octane above 2k rpm!

      So basically it’s a track car not a street car ? I have the same build and timing is at 34 degree total on pump after driving it around timing had to come down to 30 29 and still I can hear the heat somewhat detonating somewhat

      @tonymontana4349 7 місяців тому +1

      Gotcha nice build but to me on a street car wouldn’t it be better to run a 72 cc head to lower the compression and benefit from the build
