@37:27 why did you guys set the fuel pressure so high? Aren't those injectors rated at 43 psi? did you tap out the duty cycle at 43 psi so you turned it up to 63? Awesome build/setup, really enjoyed this one.. I use the Terminator X on a Foxbody streetcar and a Dominator on a racecar. Definitely one of, if not the best... OK, it is THE BEST engine management on the market!

@@joshshinskey2372 @0:51 They rattle off the parts list right here. It's a 351 based block bored and stroked to 410" with Eagle crank/rods, Mahle pistons, AFR 220 heads and a Holley Hi-Ram intake.

@@joshshinskey2372 They mention every parts detail throughout the video as well, including the camshaft.. get out a crayon and paper and start making the list. They use a factory block so that's quite a bit of savings right there.
Impressive engine for a -20cc dish piston and fairly mild camshaft, i bet with a flattop, an 11r head and solid roller it would make a significant amount more power and torque.

I am working on restoring my first vehicle, a 1979 F100 Ranger XLT. I am wondering if y’all possibly have a full build sheet that I could go off to build this myself or have a shop do? I want to keep it true and blue and keep it Ford powered, and coyote swaps have just gotten ridiculously expensive, everyone LS swaps everything, that’s not my style. It has a 351m in it but I came across this build and think it’s perfect for what I wanna do.

"New tech"? "Coil near plug"? Yeah. That's pretty "new!. On any Ford but "Godzilla" maybe. But the other two of the "Big 3" aka "Ford's competition" have been using that "new tech" for a "generation" of their "obsolete" and "old-fashioned" and "low-tech" cam-in-block 2-valve engines - every "family" of them - for "decades" now. And even before the "turn of the century" in GM's case. Aren't all you Fordtards big "LS" authorities and even "experts"? Surely you must know every "LS" is "coil near plug".

    • @deeremeyer1749

What the hell is a "qualified Technician in Mechanical Engineering"? The "maintenance technician" and "sanitation engineer" that dumps trash cans, sweeps floors and cleans shitters in/for the "Engineering Department" of an "automaker"? Or a parts "vendor"?
And what is a "successful race engine developer and builder"? Someone who "builds" race engines that conform to class rules, pass tech at "teardown" after a "claim" and "successfully" get the "race car" to and from the "finish line" and "pits" under their own power at least 50% of the time plus one "race"?
If you "race" and "engine build" for 40 years and continually "develop" race engines for the entire of that time in any amateur sanctioned competition and classes much less in the "pros" and call that "success" and are still nothing but an/the "engine builder" that could be your problem.
Any "engine builder" that's worth a tin shit will tell you the "car/chassis builder" and "transmission builder" and "crew chief" and "pit crew" have way more to do with real sanctioned "racing" success at the "amateur level" than any "engine builder" and at the "pro level" the engine "build" is all but if not completely "undeveloped" and even "untouched" after a "combo" is "developed".

A number o years ago I worked at a marine dealership here in Australi called The Ski Boat Centre. The Bloke who ran it was an absolute Ford genius. One of the mods we used to do stamp out the opposing side head gasket water jacket hole to help with cooling. We had access to and engine dyno which I never got to go and have anything to do with but that was where the head gasket mod was discovered. We used that on every ski, race and general Ford boat engine and never ever had an overheating problem. I would love to bolt this weapon into my XH Ford Ute. I'm 68 and shit it would make the boys jealous. All the best boys and keep on buildin' em'. Best regards

Mannnnn….. what I’d give to have you reproduce with modern options the 351 Boss engine. The most powerful small block ever to leave the factory doors. We ran a replica in a 70 Torino circle track pure stock clas and destroyed everything else. What a sweet build and excellent guys as always, it is always nice to see you two work together on a project .this would be a dream engine that is for sure for either myself or anyone else :)

Hopefully, we'll see a small block Windsor engine with Cleveland cylinder head swap. Knew a fella that used a 351 Windsor block and 302 2 barrel Cleveland cylinder heads. Extensive modifications were necessary, but that Ford LTD couldn't be beat!!

Even though you have the new, fandangled contraptions on top of an old stand-by, you still have to use tried and true methods of the past to get it running right. I loved the last pull; you sure could hear the change in the purr when she was breathing better and not all congested. Y'all did an amazing job on this build, and I thoroughly enjoyed all of the attention to the small details to try and 'future-proof' the engine, plus the paint choice matched with the flat black of the intake and polished aluminum heads... very nice 👌

I'm wondering if the heads are slightly too big for that engine size and compression ratio? I think with a 210 or 200 runner head, the same numbers could be achieved.
I'm in the process of doing a build like this with the same heads, and after watching this, I'm going to go with at least a 427, and I believe 600 plus hp with be achieved at the same compression with a very similar camshaft profile. Great show, guys, and keep the good work up. 👏

I have a 1997 F250HD XL Reg cab 2wd 351w ZF-5 S47 and I DESPERATELY NEED THIS ENGINE I have 6 entries in for it...if I win I am going to turn the truck in to a long travel twin I beam pre-runner on 35-37" tires and I might cut out the back of the cab and the front bed wall out, weld the bed and cab together, reinforce and create my own LWB 3/4t Bronco with a removable roof (modified bed topper) and removable back seats. With this kind of power it won't be hard to Yeet 5000lbs off some dunes while creating some serious tire speed so that I can blast through almost anything with only 2wd, I will have a receiver mount winch to get it unstuck on either end . That ZF-5 S47 is going to be putting in some work but, I think it'll be fine since it's only been dealing with 215hp 315ft/lbs it's whole life thus far, it still shifts amazing after 228,xxx miles and they live behind some stout 7.3 PSDs and even Cummins swaps. I'm sure the Stirling 10.25 rear won't be fazed either. With all those top shelf parts and EFI that 410w might have to see some bigger injectors, more fuel pump, at least a 3bar MAF sensor and a turbo or two. I live in Tennessee near Columbia if you want to see what I end up doing with the engine.

@@basshead. as much as I fanboy for the SBC in general (it is probably the most proven small block family) i would do a built 460. Bomb proof internals and forced induction. But that's just me.

    • @bmstylee
      @bmstylee Рік тому

@@FreemanConcepts it's just not practical. It's big and heavy and as you said without spending several packets of cash it won't build power. Even the one HP built is busted. Watch the dyno pull in the dualy they put in. After a few hard pulls it was blowing white smoke. And that was with performance internals. It was having issues at 400 whp. Meanwhile most small blocks make 400 relatively easily.
