My current duramax is lifted 7" on 37's and I'm kind of getting tired of the added height (lifting things into the bed and climbing in is getting old as I get older)and the cost of new tires sucks. I think my next Dmax will stay at stock height and just swap out tires with some 285's (when factory tires wear out) and call it a day.
Get the rough country multi control light switch box you can hook up rock lights, light bars, horns, whatever you want and use the 6 switch panel to turn them on or off
My totally stock 07 Duramax 4X4 has been hauling my 10,000 pound boat to and out of the ocean for 220k miles so far. No problems

Just picked up the same exact truck but a 2022. I’m right down the road in Howell. After writing a check for 78k I’m not gonna delete, but will push the boundaries as I have a great relationship with my friends dealership. Im looking to go the opposite direction, I wanna lower it just a bit.
I never see the naked express chassis with the wax covered frame rust when sitting outside for months (sometimes a whole year but normally just about 1) before they ship em on the trains or truck to dealer and im the one thats gotta move em all 😂
Truck looks great.... worth it imo... but as others have said good to know how to turn a wrench if something does break. I'm really surprised GM hasn't upgraded the stock tie rods like you pointed out. I was amazed how tiny they were, swapped mine out almost immediately after purchasing my lb7 to ppe, can't go wrong with those or the kryptonites.

I voided my warranty on my 2019 L5P almost immediately when I bought it with a tune and delete. Runs like a real diesel truck now.

2018. New trucks are awful now I owned both and now I have a 2019 Dooley and I’m very happy with it.
They are new trucks so it be nice have warranty after 100k miles
2021 just because the DEF got moved and it’s in with your gas cap or your diesel cab and also I like the hood better because it’s actually functional I like the headlights better but really there’s no difference really from the 17th to the 21 just a little subtle changes but really nothing drastic so they’re both nice trucks
You don’t need a warranty 😂 the day I bought my 2014 duramax American forces went on and then a 5 inch straight pipe and then compound turbos and bigger injectors and then a lift kit when your a mechanic you don’t need a warranty 😂😂

I don’t do much to my truck till it’s paid off and warranty is over . Then the fun begins. I had a choice of buying a 2020 gm or the 2019. I went with the 2019. Totally happy with it. The upgrades to that new truck look great.

Something I have never understood, you can buy a truck with a lift and wheels for a dealership and no warranty issues. But if you by a truck and have a qualified company install a lift and the dealership says you voided the warranty. 😱😱😱

If I bought a new one, the emissions would fall off. I have no idea what would happen to them, but they would disappear. Somebody probably stole them.

I need some help on a question about rock lights that might sound stupid to most people. How long can I leave rock lights on with the truck off until it’ll drain the battery. I’m about to get some but don’t want to leave them on to long and kill my battery. I have a gmc 2500 but it’s a gas and doesn’t have the 2 batteries like a diesel so I’m assuming I won’t be able to leave them on as long.
About 4-5 hours, I know from experience 😂

Yeah, I always had work trucks that I took care of but couldn’t baby so they got to be worse for wear after some time. Now I finally have my purdy Duramax and I treat her like a princess. My friends just don’t understand when I don’t want to drive her up a 6’ wide huntin trail.
I have a 2021 L5P Duramax Dully and I would not do anything to void my warranty. Just saying, I do like watching these videos on how to make modification! The only modification I did do to it was lift the front end 2” to level it and allow me to get 20” wheels with NITO all terrain tires.

HATE the "wax" frame bs that GM still does. It's completely useless, unless you're just a lessor and go new every 3 years but, it doesn't take away from the fact that someone is going to "own it" and GM screwed the long term owner, unbelievable.

You have to fluid film the trucks in northern N.Y. or 3 years the wax is gone and we have rust.
@@mikeforand5983 I use Woolwax mostly, with an undercoating gun/wands. It's a little thicker and smells a little better. I think the tight/small areas and crevices that especially don't get "weathered" are best done with Fluid Film. My biggest question is, I am highly curious if this would keep the GM wax coating from drying out, keeping it pliable and effective. I only wish I knew about these products many years ago as I just learned about it a couple of years ago. GM really needs to paint the frame like RAM does. It seems to hold up well and early on the inside crevices of frame and body would be the only thing needed to rustproof for a while.
I just spent a couple days under my Chevy washing off all the wax with wax remover and painted it black, looked better than the wax did brand new

If your just driving the truck, Chevy IFS is solid but with a lift and big tires it leaves more to desire, but talk to the dodge a Ford boys about always rebuilding the front axles, I like them better, but still with their problems

Just bought a 2021 Chevy 2500 HD Custom Duramax. Nope, I won’t void the warranty. It’s staying stock till the warranty is over, then it’s Katy bar the doors, it’s till to get crazy. LOL.
My front diff selector fork went out 120 miles past warranty and they wouldn't honor it. Never buying extended warranty again. Was not a GM dealer, for the record. Bought my 08 3500HD used lol. My rock lights have been crucial in the California mountains n deserts at night. Especially night crawls
My 21 Duramax came factory with the Rocker Switch. I love my truck to but only thing i don't like is it's quiet and 10 speed. I plan on doing the addictive desert bumpers despite the expensive price. Trying to put all premium. Also add the GMC lit badge too. I wanna straight pipe mine. Communist epa and stupid manufacturer for making it sound like a prius. Legislation is starting to piss me off.

Wax coat is dipped on a automated line before assembly....buddy has a 2016 duramax now with 17k on it and the frame looks like is sat in a field. Those tires will knock all that wax coating off quick!! Rain especially....gm will
Fight u so turn it in to the attorney generals office for a class action suit. My buddy has cortisone protection til next year. Still won't cover it.. sorry GM lovers buy they havent been GM since the 80s ...turned into junk...give me a old Chevy any day!!! People here in NY are storing alot of them now...think it was the.80s here again. Another I use to do lifetime Rust proofing out of school and other stuff. They still can't make a rust protector to stay on the vehicles...or turn white...rubber base I used armor all to keep it sorta soft ..never turned til I stopped the armor all..hope this helps someone...love the vids and u both!!!
I returned mine and got an older one 2019….i dont like push button….too much electrical switches….my Duramax was a lemon and I wouldn’t buy anything newer than 2019
Like the new one a little better stock to stock. But I wouldn’t go over a 20 inch wheel because I tow so much and need the sidewall . Kryptonite stuff is amazing have on my 04. Still like my cateye over both. 😀 I am waiting for 24 so I can have 04 and a 24. That truck doesn’t have upfitter switches? Put switch inside console so no holes in dash to regret later.

Voiding the warranty on any vehicle for " performance" reasons is 100% a valid reason the manufacturer to void your warranty. I do believe it is bragging rights and for the prices and new car market there really isn't anything else you can call it. I am a major gear head and mechanic modifications out of spec just makes the manufacturer happy and off the hook.
Im gonna say it, if you pay for a warranty why void it if you paid for one? And if you void the warranty you cant complain about paying for something that warrenty would of covered.

I do too I bought an eight rock like OK I think I might buy another one and put 16 underneath the truck just to make it brighter and then I was thinking about buying one of those license plate frames but just buy it while they were there you’re not getting harassed by the cops you know because it’s just way and it lights up to plate only

Did you like the McCoys lift kit did you have to send that out to get powder coated or did they powder powder coat it before they sent it to you and I got a really awesome traction bar kit for that McCoys lift kit because that’s what I’m putting on mine is a 6 inch McCoy lift kit might go a little bit higher and put bag so then when I shut it off it’ll come down so it’s easier to get out there when I get it and then I’ll raise it up to three more inches to go from a 6 to 9 or 11
I guess I'm to old I just want a truck that I don't have to work on ,you spend that kind of money on a new truck then almost right off the bat you have to fix things that gm should have fix before they sold it ,like the tire rods
You void the warranty on GMC products as soon as you pay for it. Besides there are only a handfull of capable GMC mechanics at the dealer.

Do you know what you should do now put three rock lights in the front facing the McCoys crossmember bar and like that crossmember bar up that would be hot and then do three of the big rock lights down the sides and then one across or to cross the back and then like two or three in the wheel wells that truck would look really hot
I color matched all mine in front of the box the steps the steps on the bumper the mirrors though I put the clear because I had offender was fender trim painted and put a clear lenses in it and then my headlights are going out to get painted white red white and red inside because that’s the color of my truck is going to be as white red and black
