It would be nice to get a comparison of a deleted and just tuned L5P. I hear a lot of claims by some tuners (Duramax tuners primarily) that you don't actually gain that much by deleting vs just a tune. I would settle for an LML comparison too.

Talking about mileage, granted mine is an older LBZ but I did an EGR delete, straight pipe exhaust, and a EFI live tune. Unbelievable the power it has for an older Duramax and even with my lead foot I’m getting better mileage than when I pampered it before.
Damn, I would do the same but it would not pass the Cal smog. However I just put the Banks Ram cold air intake, the Derringer and the monster PDF back 5" pipe and that made a world of difference. Great video, maybe it's time to move out of California into a state that allows trucks and guns with no hassles.

CA trucks are EXEMPT from loud exhaust laws, you wont have to smog in CA till year #6, the chances of a CA cop trying to pop a trucks hood is super low. Not like its a subaru or straight piped G35 punk kid ride.(Stay outa Seal Beach! lol)

2013 duramax LML. Full delete and tune. 4 days solid. Rule #1 after you spend a day and a half getting to the engine... jack the cab up off the frame... makes everything work easier 🙌

I have a 18 Denali L5P and loved this video! I could not imagine doing all of that work or paying the $$ for parts. So far I've done minor stuff i.e., leveled, intake & turbo pipe, morimoto's, Banks 4" dpf-back, low profile tool box, stock tires/wheels, etc., plus a Pedal Commander which has made throttle responsiveness much more fun. So, I guess I'll stay at the kids table for now, but it still was an awesome video! Wonder if Banks will watch this and comment...

Watching Bank's video of the engine tear down, the heads and turbo are SO much better than the LML. Wish I had $80k to throw at a truck. Sweet ride!
They are better, but marketing hype, and not that much better imo....wait till these things become affordable, and grab one....I bought a LML new in '15....always keeping up with the best, and newest isn't smart use of money....unless u can burn it like that....I rather plunk it into real estate....and buy a new truck every 10-15 years

Lol i never worked on cars before. I fully deleted, tuned and installed a full wehrli 369sx-e 2nd gen kit by myself in 8 hours on my 18' cummins and it only cost 3700$. Cummins for the win
Shoeless Jack yes because it’s a in-line engine, everything’s easy to get too. Try the on a power stroke or duramax and you’ll have to call for help. But they sound better than a shitbox Cummins so in the end it’s automatically more satisfying

That's a bad ass truck I just bought a new 19 HIGHCOUNTRY Dually a month ago and I would love to do that to mine. I would imagine that totally voids any warranties on the truck. I bought mine to pull a 44 foot toy hauler with me and my wife's Harley's around the US Canada and Alaska
It 1000% voids your warranty. Dont do it till its got some miles. Im a chevy guy so im not here to trash them but ive had multiple friends with l5ps that have had a number of issues so far. Injector failure is starting to common, they short out and then take out the injector drivers in the ecu. Trust me you dont want to have to float that bill on your own. You can check into what im talking about on the l5p forums im not just talking out my ass.

Truck manufactures are making it much harder to do deletes on the new trucks. I did a full exhaust, delete, and pcv reroute on my LMM in half a day.
20 yrs at a company was late my first day because clock jumped two minutes a click after that never was late again ...I also missed 8 days of work in 7 yrs it’s in my personal file. Was allowed 21 days vacation 6 sick days 3 personal days ...I’m retired now enjoying life.

Yeah after I get away from my loan on my new car. Idk if I’ll drive it ‘till the warranty expires but there is way too much over engineering in new vehicles that will cost a fortune is maintainence as they age. Rather invest my money in tools overtime then overpay for a new money pit and just wrench on it myself. More pride that way anyway.

When I was selling these trucks, we had a hot-shotter that would come in every year and a half, and trade his for a truck identical to the one from the year before. He had been doing this for decades. The last one he traded in when I was still working there was a 2015-2016 with 225k miles. He said all he did was a maintenance, and never had a single breakdown. According to Global Connect (Essentially GM's back office for customer records), it was true. Regular maintenance was the only thing done on that truck. Still ran strong too.

@@magnacartasamadams8189 I hate all the EPA emissions crap that is required. If these engines are going 200k-300k miles with all this EPA B.S, it will go many more without them. I will say though, for the most part, they have been good on catalytic converters. Many diesel racers, including Bank's Power, have proved Diesel do better without being tuned to roll coal, and you can get them to blow almost as little smoke as a gas engine (Visual-wise). You are right about all the stupid emissions, but I have seen enough of these trucks traded in from the big three to know these new trucks (especially the deleted ones) are no joke when it comes to reliability (And power). I was super bias towards old diesel trucks before I started selling them and getting hands-on experience with them. I won't even get into how many miles I have seen from 10-year-old diesels from the big three, because you won't believe it.

Fuel mileage lol, let me tell you that the guy who has the 75k for the truck and 15k for the mods , lift kit , wide tires and voids the warranty on a brand new truck .... then runs on the street with off road deletes . Something tells me they don’t care about the fuel mileage one bit...just sayin
It's an added benefit. You can do all that and still get 18mpg. If you gotta have a lifted truck, itll work out the best with a diesel if you're gonna drive it daily. I get 16-17 with my duramax driving to work everyday. I cant afford two vehicles, I need a truck for daily life, and I get okay mileage for what it is. New dodge 2500 hemis are only getting like 12-14 mpg... stock. And I get 17mpg on a 5 inch lift with 35 inch tires.

Did you do it yourself? I just bought a '19 Denali 3500HD and I want to do this in the worst way. I couldn't care less about the voided warranty. I need a mentor! I would love to just hand it to a guy and say have at it. Make it run like it's supposed to run.
My buddy and I did it at his shop. Took a day to tear down and a day to put it back together. Make sure you tune the new ECU before you take everything apart. If you don’t you with throw permanent codes and they are a pain in the ass to get rid of. PPEI tuning is the way to go.

Eric Lakin the Democratic Party as a whole supports more emissions regulations and the epa. The hardest states to own deleted pickups in are democratically controlled ones like far left California. Not all democrats like yourself may support stricter emissions but the Democratic Party as a whole will support and push for regulations. Almost all the democrats who plan on running in 2020 support the new green deal and that deal is so radical and out of context on so many issues past just deleted pickups.
@@Logaweed Yep, in general, we do support controls on emissions. If you were ever in California before Nixon started the EPA you'd remember what the smog was like back then. I believe the EPA did some good stuff early on. I'm not an expert tho. I know around Michigan the "deleted truck crew" gets a bad rap because of the coal rollers. Every day on my commute there is some clown throwing a cloud of smoke from every stoplight. A few idiots can spoil it for everyone. You guys should have fixed all this when you had all 3 branches of gov't prior to the mid-terms!

Eric Lakin yeah I know what you meant and there’s a lot of things I wish would have gotten passed through when they controlled all three cause now it’s going to be nothing but a fight. I believe the epa had decent intentions when Nixon started it but now its just a ridiculous amount of regulations. We need to cut down on emissions stuff but I don’t think dpf/def/egr are the right way of doing it. It’s such minuscule changes and so expensive for the consumer it’s not worth it. There are better ways to cut down on global emissions if you want to. Like getting a lot of the Asian countries to cut down they’re the worst when it comes to polluting. It’s like all the places that have bans on plastic straws. They are so minuscule it’s literally changing nothing but it makes people feel good and nowdays it seems like most people care more about feeling good than facts.

The entire EGR system can be removed as an assembly in about an hour.....done it several times. L5P is the simplest and easiest Duramax to work on.

I don't have a video for this. I work at a Chevrolet GMC dealer and do all the Duramax work. I've had the R&R the EGR systems to replace injectors and a couple of DOCs behind the turbo.

Just wanna point out that there is a couple dozen deleted l5ps in California. My personal truck was done back in November.
The L5Ps will be fast than the LMLs for one reason the injectors pulse 9 times a stroke while the LMLs pulse 7 times it’s going to be crazy when these become common
Lol you need to watch Gale Banks break an L5P. You'll learn alot about these engines. They're great strong engines stock but that factory turbo gets maxed out easily plus he shows fuel system upgrades that are available right now. Including lift pump and injectors.

A semi truck system (scr box and all nessecary parts ) is about 15k$ worth of shit. That constantly breaks. When u do 500-700 miles a day hauling 80k lbs shit breaks on those like there is no tomorrow.
Most of us are rebuilding our pre o7 trucks.
There are delete kits for the semi trucks but if u get cought it’s a big ticket. Big freaking ticket!
The ones who have deleted their semi trucks , hide it and never tell anyone cause of fear of a ticket. If a dealer catches u , they will turn u in if they are dicks. If they get cought wrenching on your deleted semi truck , it’s like a 10k fine for them if cought inside their shop.

Is it possible to delete the DEF tank and run an after market exhaust? I am a new L5P owner and a non mechanic when it comes to diesels. I would love for my truck to sound like a diesel. I am ok with the 450ish HP it has. Thanks for any responses I get!

I like the truck but I’ll stick with my LML. It just doesn’t pay to go through all that and the money it cost for a L5P. Hopefully in the future it will get easier to tune the L5P.

Also heard rumors that the Allison transmission wasn't holding up with all the power. Please tell me that's not true. Lmao
WC Fab stuff is great. I got their stuff for my LML, I got their high flow kit, and their is a big difference. I recommend their products

Question, will the larger tank be on the way of any takeoffs of the DEF hardware. Or should I do "delete" first then replace the tank? any advice would be appreciated. LOE THE TRUCK!! LOOKS SICK
