Doesn't get any better when a son does tribute to his father like that...RIP John
awesome. John was a master at what he did...Jason is also excellent.
Still can't beat the master
I know right this actually brought tears to my eyes!!!When they put them side by side it blew my mind Great tribute to his father!!!
Smack Fu Master He has his place Mr Smack but this is about something much deeper my friend!!!
R.I.P. John
If Jason were anyone else besides Bonzo's kid....most people would be like "wow, this guy is great". Jason's a great drummer in his own right....period.
You hit the nail right on the head!
@@SlightReturn666 again the curse is that his dad is John Bomham
"oh nobody can replace jb hurr"
firstmusic00 no. ... he is ok . But he ain’t his daddy or Keith moon or neil pert
@@davidcoleman913 no I was referring to John bonham, making fun of people that just say "oh nobody can replace bonzo"
Everybody says John Bonham is a Legend...and he is. But IMO, Jason Bonham is also a living legend like his father. Cheers Jason, this is awesome! :) ! RIP John.
No he's not even close to good as his dad there's guys are way better than Jason get in line buddy
Jason Bonham? a living legend? no way.
@@JoeSmith-dh1rz settle down mr ego
@3:50 when Jason honors his dad by stopping with a pondering look. Literally brought a tear to my eye. What a great drummer and person Jason turned out to be. John is in Heaven, proud of his son. Love the Bonham’s!!!
Well said and this tribute made my eyes water too. So awesome the way his son did this for his fantastic Dads legend.
This is a example that a drummer does not need a 20 pc drum set to sound effective.
This is an example of someone riding the coattails of their famous, more talented father and the band he played for for their entire carreer.
Lol His Ol man is in the video as you can see. doing exactly as I explained
syntheticrebellion I mean if my dad died when I was young after getting me into the drums, I would want to carry on his legacy too. It probably makes Jason feel closer to his deceased father.
the Rival Sons drummer uses even less.....it's even a little too minimalistic
syntheticrebellion and your an example of someone who wants someone to argue with him so he can feel better about himself, nice
When Led Zeppelin played two concerts at Knebworth Stadium in England back in the summer of 1979, "Big" Bonzo (John) had "L'il" Bonzo (Jason) sit in for him during the soundcheck before the first show. He played "Trampled Underfoot" with the rest of the band, who were stunned by how hard then-thirteen-year-old Jason beat on ol' Dad's kit.
Jimmy didn't even noticed they switched until he looked up lol
Is there footage of this Lol omg I would love to see this haha
Love Jason’s approach to drumming and a great player in his own right. Hard to carve your own niche when the shadow of your father extends so far!
Hello, how are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
That's right even Jason is good
His father just had that groove.
I CALL JOHNS PLAYING VERY
PRIMITIVE PLAYING HARD AS
CONCRETE . MEANING HEAVY
HE WAS NOT A FLASHY PLAYER
MORE LIGHT AND SHADE.
BUT A FORCE. POWERFUL.
BUT HIS BASS DRUM WORK.
TRIPLETS WERE FANTASTIC
AND FEEL. LISTEN TO HOW
MANY MORE TIMES ON ZEP I
HE HAD THAT JAZZ FEEL .
TO IT. I PLAY THE DRUMS
TO. A VERY BIG INFLUENCE
IN MY LIFE MORE THAN PLAY ING
LIKE HIM. STUFF IN MY TIME
OF DYING . THE RAIN SONG
AND BONGOS ON FRIENDS.
FOR EXAMPLE. ROYAL ORLEANS
OF PRESENCE ALBUM. HE DEFINITELY KNEW HIS FEELING
OF LIGHT AND SHADE. PLAYING
TO WITH HIS BARE HANDS.
DEFINITELY A MASTER IN
OWN. RIGHT. WHEN HE PASSED
AWAY. ZEP WAS NO MORE. THAT

BONHAM THE MARRIAGE OF.
THAT BAND WAS NO MORE.
PAGE PLANT JONES. SADLY THEY
KNEW THAT. PLANT TO LOVED
BOHNAM VERY MUCH. BECAUSE
THEY WE'RE TOGETHER EVEN
BEFORE ZEP. THE BAND OF JOY.
AND I THINK CRAWLING KING
SNAKE. BUT JOHN JASONS
FATHER WOULD BE PROUD
OF HIM . BUT AS YOU SAID
RUBY TUESDAY .ROLLING
STONES. JASON'S DRUMMING
HAS A STYLE OF HIS OWN
CHEERS.

Tears running down my eyes , when I see them playing together , Jason lives perfectly to his father's legacy
I'm not even going to lie. I tear up when I watch this, too.
pops would be proud
larry b indeed!
larry b Jason is good, but he uses a double bass pedal, John Bonham never used a double bass pedal, nor double bass drums if am not mistaken, John used a Ludwig speed pedal, single pedal I may add, straight from the 70's. John is rolling in his grave most likely.
Yes, Bonzo used a single kick drum and Ludwig Speed King (that's why I used one). Disappointed that Jason is using a double, but his technique and tempo are right on.
John is looking down and beaming.
Pops is proud!
Kudos to him for keeping his father’s legacy alive. Plus, he clearly inherited John’s talent. I’m so glad John had a son.
Because a daughter couldn't play the drums like a son 😁😆
That’s sexist and untrue. Gender has nothing to do with talent. This little girl proves otherwise, and Robert Plant himself approves.
m.ua-cam.com/video/-XYr6H2mGxk/v-deo.html&pp=ygUhZ2lybCBwbGF5cyBsZWQgemVwcGVsaW4gb24gZHJ1bXMg
You can sooo hear your father's style in your play, but make no mistake, you stand alone with your own talent Jason. Rock on brother, and I'll be there every time you're near Ohio.
There’s something other worldly about John Bonham’s drumming and drum sound.
What a great duet between father and son. This really is a tribute.
I guess it is a duet...but is it more a mash-up?
@@alexkx8599 That's ridiculous.
Following in his father's footsteps - or should I say drumsticks.... Jason is a damn good drummer too. That bit at 3:46 when he just stops and admires footage of his daddy brought a lump to my throat. Coupled with the rest of the historic footage through the rest of this drumming, perhaps the best Bonham drum tribute I have ever seen. Awesome.
Agreed.
Well spoken!
I would’ve done the same thing
Yes!
VauxhallViva ~ So well spoken. Everytime I see him speak of his dad, he brings me to tears. He lost his dad way to soon and he still misses him. John Bonham was larger than life! I still miss him along with the rest of the world!
Jason is amazing and the only 1 who should ever be on stage with Led Zep.
No drummer has ever come close to being as good as John Bonham other than his son Jason Bonham. Great drummers.
Right.
Who else could be accepted to play in Led Zeppelin?
Sure Foo Fighters played along but that was Page and JPJ with Foo Fighters. Not Led Zeppelin.
Neil Peart is better than John imo but that’s it
@scotstephenson838 no he's not. He's better at his style.of drumming. There both great drummers.
@@scotstephenson838nope
I really believe that Jason even if he could play exactly like his dad he wouldn't because he knows his dad playing was that good that he wouldn't desrespect his father's legacy, you can see he really love's his pop and misses him every time he play's! It's not easy being JOHN BONHAM's son. God bless them both.
John Bonham was the best drummer I've ever heard play DRUMS that's why he is and will always be my HERO!!! rip,...BONZO.....\"/.....
+martin750hp Jason is a big cry baby I know I went drinking with him and his band years ago.
@@gerry3x just saw this. Totally snake belly low. Go back to pushing your broom looser.
We're so lucky to have them both to listen to. Bonzo and Jason 4 ever.
Really like how he stopped playing a few times to bow down to his father. It shows a lot of respect. Jason is very good and did surprise me. But john has the feel and groove that can't be replicated. A single pedal probably helps with that too
That really moved me when Jason did that. Jason is great in his own right but Bonzo is amazing.
You have to appreciate the kindness and grace that the members of Zep extend to Jason allowing him to make a living with their music. It is fitting of course but truly beautiful.
This is the best drum tribute and you cannot change my mind.
i hope this legacy continues forever..
Good work Jason

Jason, you must be immensely proud to be the son of the worlds finest rock drummer.
Jason had one great teacher...both are incredible powerhouse drummers
Some drummers just always seem to want to compare compare compare. I highly doubt that Jason would ever even compare himself to his dad, but you can certainly hear the influence that his dad had on him in all of his drumming. Great tribute to his father. And, exactly what is that DJ guy doing back there? He's turning knobs and stuff during a drum solo, maybe he's listening to something else. He needed to get off the stage.
I agree, I hate comparisons, this video is also full of bonham haters.
The APPLE doesn't fall too far from the tree! Great playing, JB!
Justin Bieber? LOL
Danang Seta You are just terrible!
Danang Seta youre a butt lover arent you naughty boy
Jason has his own and his dad too. Very nice to see a son pay tribute to his father- with dignity and respect.
nut
Son of his father!!!!! Great!!!!
Damn sure does his Dad proud!
you guys should heard his band Bonham..in the 80's sounded like zepland ..lead singer sounded like plant..It was to bad zeppenline did let jason fill in for his dad back then..I know his dad wouldve approve it!..Hope zep make some new albums see them tour with jason in the band..2014..
Loved Bonham....excellent music.
Son of his father. That’s normally how it works! Lol
son of his father --yes. but let's not start counting THAT as some accomplishment
I love that Jason show’s incredible respect to his dads memory by continuing on the magic that was in Johns playing and then just as amazing Dweezil Zappa follows with Zappa on Zappa touring.
Got to be hard to be a drummer when your dad is widely regarded as one of the best drummers to have ever lived, but Jason is a hell of a drummer in his own right.
Saw my hero John Bonham 19 times, I've seen every rock/metal hard rock drummer alive, no one even comes close, what a gift he had, Page was very lucky and he knew it...when he saw John, he knew what Zep would sound like...and he always got the biggest standing ovation at every show...good on Jason, but he knows John was a force of nature...irreplaceable...
mppaiges yeah he's my favorite musician as well.....and I'm a guitar player for over 24 years...lol...love that Bonzo
mppaiges Except for Neil Peart.
The only way to find anyone better than John is to go to the jazz drummers, like Buddy Rich. There's 3 maaaaaybe 4 jazz drummers better than John.
@@brr8888 wrong side of the tracks dude. Best to take yourself back to the other side, cause trust and believe me, not only are you wrong but you lose as well. Only thing peart did was master mixing rudiments that didn't belong together, and have a set that was 50 times what Bonham needed, and would still get shown up by the great Bonzo, had Bonham ever felt the desire to show a dude behind a train wreck how to play drums.
Wow! Write a book....if you can remember it all. I fell asleep at MSG in NYC during his solo. Had to wait for the Song Remains the Same to hear what I missed! No drugs...it was just a long day....
As a father I would be so proud.
To see John Bonham do this live was a very special time in my life to see his son do this is even more special to me what a absolute honor that I will cherish and be forever grateful that I got to see both of them !!!!!!!!
Incredible, what a moment in time. Thanks to technology, we can do these things today...
Awesome! Imagine trying to walk in your Dad's shoes if share his passion and you're Jason. Give him the love and credit he deserves.
What I love about JHB solos is he always let the solo breath, it's like his solo's had air in its lungs - always full of dynamics and crisp, just incredible!! and his sound is all his own. A one-off drummer forever. Sincerely to John Henry Bonham. David Curtis.
Agreed, it's like he didn't have an exact strategy or pattern to follow, it was very natural to John with alot of jazz aspects of improv and off the cuff. Whereas Jason is more mundane, not horrible, just sounds rehearsed, generic in ways, and repetitive.
John would be so damn proud of his son of how much he sounds like his dad. So sad we lost John at an early age. But now we can see John through his son when he plays which is fantastic.
Amazing tribute to his father John, but can't believe it's 14 years old and I'm just seeing it now,Well Done!
Joe Bonamassa on Guitar.... damn this would have been incredible to see live!
jason Bonham is a great drummer ! he's on of the best out there. But when you listen to the old man and jason side by side there is a difference.
when the old man played ,it sounded like thunder , when jason plays , he's a better rhythm drummer than his dad. But bonzo sounded like thunder and no one will ever come close to that !
If you’ve ever wondered what John Bonham’s playing would have sounded like if he had played to a click track or if his performances had been quantized. Just listen to Jason Bonham play any Led Zeppelin song.
It doesn’t appear as though Jason’s play thoughs are as off the cuff as John’s were but Jason has certainly studied his fathers grooves and intricacies. And Jason displays his degree of drumming discipline in this tribute.
Amazing!!!
He Honours his Father and very well. He stated that if his Father hadn't Passed, he probably wouldn't be so Dedicated. He Lost A Father And An Icon.
He was playing and twirling sticks when he was three.
It's in his DNA.
Excellent
Hagley junior school 1973 or 74, Jason played to assembly. I had never heard of Led Zep - I learnt a thing or two that day! This little bundle of energy smacked hell out of his drum kit to his dad's tunes, and us older kids were gob smacked. Still sends a shiver up me spine.
Like father, like son...brilliant.
The master and the apprentice.
Now u take over my son.
That was AWESOME!!!
What's with everyone pointing out that Jason isn't at the same level as his father was? Such an obvious and irrelevant comment to make.
Fiontán Ó Cathail but something my so obvious is that he is using K customs on a Ludwig Acrolite kit in a tribute to his father who used Paiste’s
Actually Jason is much more refined and dynamic a player . He has more technique. I’ve been playing for 38 years and can make this determination very easily. No one respects his fathers abilities more than I do but that’s the simple truth . Thanks for saying it though . There are lots of idiots out there.
Derek Frampton John Bonham is not overrated
Agreed. I saw John perform live with Zep and he’s definitely not overrated. It’s important to remember that when we look at Bonham in his hay day it’s over 50 years ago. No one else was doing that stuff then. Not Baker, Moon, not Ringo, Watts. The only one who came close was Powell. But Bonham was an innovator.
@Derek Frampton another Bonham hater!! Overrated? Only the driving force behind one of rock's most legendary bands....
Its a good thing the son followed the footsteps of his father and became as equally GREAT!!!!
Jason does his dad proud, plain and simple...❤
Hes def his fathers son.great job jason.a pleasure n treasure to watch.
That's awesome I bet his father is looking down n at him and saying thank you son.
Jason Bonham is a true gentleman! Great ability and honouring his Dad, good on ya lad!
Love hearing Jason come on my local radio show here in Miami. He lives here and is always on.
Awesome job Jason and great tribute to your Dad!…well done!
Jason Bonham is one amazing rock drummer and you can hear it's in his DNA.
I love Jason bonham with all respect , but I love how he couldn't even keep up with his dad @ the guitar center session screen above, John bonham can never be replaced not even by blood RIP John Henry Bonham for ever keeping Led Zeppelin music alive
I have seen Jason perform 3X. Once on his Led Zeppelin tribute tour once with his band in the mid late 90s and once as a 22 yr old playing drums for Jimmy Page on the 1988 Outrider tour. He never disappoints.
I LOVE seeing the son pay tribute to his father like this. Very special thing this is.
can u tell this guy idolizes his dad, despite his alcoholism? Jason obviously has eaten, drunk, & breathed his father's life & skill. perhaps it's the only way he can keep him alive awhile longer.... great job from a grateful son.
This really cool, I feel the connection between father and son.
John was a beast on drums. I'm glad Jason doesn't try to be his father, but rather honor him. And, he is a bassass in his own right. There will never be another rock drummer like John....EVER! He was a musical genius. Not only in his craft but he was also so well aware of the other instruments and his part in the arrangement. May he rest in peace. Long live the king!
Jason Bonham is an EXCELLENT Drummer . Period.
No words could describe the talent of both Dad and son, thanks for sharing this. Its amazing how far drumming has come and continues, thank you John where ever you are...........
both great drummers ( love them both ) but there are far far betters ones out there...get real
these guys do, by todays standards basic rock stuff, there are guys that play harder, faster with feel with one hand.
I think John was blessed to be part of such a great band. Each member contributed to the sound that was Led Zeppelin
he'll never be as good as his old man! but that's not the point he wanted to honor his dad. rest in peace John! wish you was still alive to show these drummers how to solo
👍👍 the split scene was
BADASS AWESOME
That was so excellent and very moving with your Dad with you Jason. You are a Lucky Man to have know John. God Bless you Jason!!!!
The best father son drummers
I had tears in my eyes watching this. It's like an intimate conversation between father and son using the language they speak best - drumbeats.
Just like the Senior Bonham, the drums can be enjoyed on their own. Love from Bangladesh.
RIP, Bonzo
Great tribute to his dad. His dad would be so proud. Great job Jason. JOHN BONHAM greatest drummer that ever lived.
Class act all the way around...His father would be proud, i'm sure.
Wow, brings tears to my eyes. This is amazing. I was a teenager in the 70's. Led Zeppelin were like gods. Bonzo didn't screw around.
Love Jason Bonham! I don’t look at it as a shadow of his father or anything. He’s a continuation of his father’s legacy!
Yesss
Jason, as a father that loves his son more then life itself, Your father is in heaven, could be the proudest father there. You have followed in his footsteps and have become one of the greatest drummers to walk the earth. Keep doing what you do and you, you have made your father and all his fans proud of the man, and musician you have become, and will be. Thanks you :)
It 's always difficult to make comparisons, Jason is the son of the greatest drummer in rock history. Perhaps the thing that makes them different it's their body and long hair. :) God bless them both!
What a superb tribute to his dad. My favourite drummer of all time.
You nailed it Jason that was Beautiful. Your Dad is so proud of you.✌️🙏 He's forever the Best. Thanks for honoring Him.
Two of my favorite drummers in the world being shown together. Be still my heart. John would definitely be proud Jason.

Goosebumps!
When Jason let his dad play in the video it was like saying to everybody that everyone can get close to John bonham but only John bonham can be JOHN BONHAM
Great Respect to Jason Bonham, this is a great tribute !!!!!!!!!
Keeping the memory alive to the man who made me want to play drums John Bonham!! John RIP.
Thanks to Jason for his talents, awesome drummer. Can you imagine growing up and being taught by John himself? Also thanks for sharing this video.
To be sure, he's no Bonzo, but he has some of his own unique style which I like a lot.
Jason drumming is solid and perfect
Father would be so proud
great drummer he's come a long way from when he was a kid..listen to Paul Rodgers Muddy Water Blues Jason does all the drumming on it ... it is some of the finest drumming you will ever hear ,he puts a great twist on all the tunes
I love you Jason. It's no picnic to hang in your father's shadow. You are incredible in every good way.
Jason you are my favorite rock drummer since the moment I got to watch you playing with your daddy 's band!! I have been teaching drum instruction since I was just 16yrs old and I know how great you are and never forget that my brother!!That's a Rap there's nothing more to say...PEACE
I don't want to lose an ounce of respect for one of out generations Great Drummers......
Jason I *technically* a great drummer. Great to listen to, and feel....
BUT - there's a reason his Dad was called "Bonzo" .......
When the Great John Bonham went off on a solo - or just a musical tangent... it became an out-of-body experience!!!!
You KNEW you were going on a trip,
your right.....you could tell he put body mind and soul into his playing.....you can feel it.
Sure could !!
+Carmine Allocca Are you sure that wasn't the effect of something else combined with the drumming?
Probably!!! ;)
+einarabelc5 ...no...just a big coincidence that nothing is awesome now that all those old folks are sober...
Did his dad proud, amazing legacy and an amazing lineage, it's in the DNA
Trying to do best by his dad...BIG respect for Jason. The drumming skills don't even have to be mentioned.
Like father like son !!!!!!!!!!!!!
holy cripes!
It's so sad John died so young because I could not imagine what the 2 of them jamming together would be like.
Jason is awesome 😎👍 & a great man & good father to his kids. Rock on brother.
What a way to keep your father's legacy alive Jason!
That's really cool how they had the vid playing and he played along with his dad. 👍👍
Sorry, but no. Take a look at Moby Dick by John, lots of vids in different places, and turn back to this video.😕 If you love Jason as much as I do, take a look to him, playing in front of his uncles, there you will see his talent... 'and the sound is good, not like here)

To the 199 thumbs down. Go to the doctor right now. You must have serious chemical imbalance. You need medication. This is AMAZING... 😊💪❤👍✌John is smiling from ear to ear watching this . Watching his awesome son play like he did... except that one roll. Jason just let's his Dad go to town on his own...
If I was Bonzo watching this, I'd be soooooo proud!!
It's so sad that John never had the opportunity to see Jason play. R.I.P John Bonham.
THIS is drumming!!!!!! Like father and son, earthquake!! Eternal Bonzo!
5:40 Ooops left the snares off. I thought I was the only one that did that..
Jason can play the hell out of those drums. So sad his Father isn't around to see him play.
Maybe he would not play if his dad was alive .
I’m sure his Dad his watching him from Heaven
