Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.
if you are a drummer, you have to appreciate this historical drum solo, soo good
Will Perrone i am a drummer and this still blows me away. The things he was able to do is unreal. And he didn't use a big setup like today when people are pretty much surrounded by drums and cymbals, and he had no double bass pedal. Just talent, the man is unreal on the drums.
I'm a guitarist and Bonzo blows me away. Very few drummers have an instantly recognizable tone and power.
He invented triplets! 😁
so i am neither a drummer nor a musician at all but a passionate listener. i lately got really into drums and great drummers and their impact on songs but i dont like solos like this one. so pearl, rich, bonham etc all their solos just sound like how to hit a lot of drums really fast. their techniques may be really impressive and all the theoretical stuff behind it but it does not change the sound. it sounds more like a demonstration of skill than music.
here is the only drum solo that i found until now, that is really impressive and feels like music

@@rocknrollguitarman9756 I also drum and yeah
No double bass pedal, not a bunch of drums and cymbals. Just a simple setup and raw talent, Bonzo was a master. Perioid.

Exactly why, in my opinion, he was a better drummer than Neil Peart. He made more out of less equipment
That's why he still holds the record !

Was so lucky to see John do this in six concerts...it still gives me chills.
Wow… gives ME chills, I can’t even imagine
You lucky bastard
God you must be old as shit.
Wow what a privilege lucky
I'm not even a drummer, but I watched the whole thing and now im watching it again. It just goes to show how great John Bonham was at his art.
Bonham is the reason why most people either pick up the drums or throw them away.
Best comment! 👌✌️🤘
I think the best day of my life was having bought Vistalites, tho I see the charm in these (maple? I'm a fan of maple). Ludwig rules.

My reason was cause of Nigel Olsson and Dallas Taylor.

While it is certainly a category he could be worthy for, "best drummer alive" is so subjective it hurts to think about. But I will agree with the title of "one of the best in the world". That at least opens the door and allows room for other drummers who are just not even human.
this man is from another world
He's considered the greatest rock drummer of all time. . .When you accomplish something like that, let me know and I'll take these words back, "FUCK OFF, MORON." And show some respect for the mighty Zeppelin.
Phil Moseley .fuck you Phil Moseley. fuck you
Phil Moseley Haha, Sounds like Phil here is a Baker or Moon fan, clearly not a music lover like most Zeppelin fans are. "Grow up" - not sure what that means in this context, but clearly Phil is such a serious guy, so serious he wound up on this video, watched the video, read a comment, and had plenty of time to show everyone what an idiot he is. Well done sir, well done.
Phil Moseley you have no life you scrawny lump of shit

My son said he wanted to play the drums, so my first thought was “show him who John Bohnam is” we watched this and his mouth was dropped open the whole time. There was once a time, when I couldn’t play those. But after 3-4 months of practice, I can play them with just as much accuracy and speed as Bonzo himself

Incredible dynamics and speed. What a legend. Love the sound of his snare too.
1:54 is no joke, literally!!! The crossover triplets Bonham plays here isn’t just fast, it’s unspeakably fast u can’t even see his drumsticks playing at all. That’s why he’s ranked No.1 of the best of all time drummers. He must be a drumming GOD not a drumming king.
As a soon to be 60 year old drummer and human, not too many things make me cry. But this is one of them. God love you John Bonham.
John Bonham is the grestest rock drummer of all time. what made him so great was that he used every part of his drum kit.
"I paid the whole speedometer so imma use the whole speedometer"
What made him so great, was the SOUND he get out of them and the inevitable rhythm!!!
Sorry bro, but that is incorrect. Bonzo was the greatest because of his ability to create a dramatic dynamic sound around Jimmy Page. Bonzo was more than just a great drummer, he was an artist who painted epic pictures with the sound he made.

What I love most is the sound. Professional drummers are packed with techniques and skills, but sound is what makes them authentic and unique.
Since I was 13 I played drums, didn't go to far still I know a lot about drummers. Buddy Rich first solo I ever saw, unreal. When it comes to rock drummers I know there's a lot of greats. JOHN HENRY BOHNAM still the best 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 I never get tired of this solo ✌️

John Bonham, sorry
There is no best, only personal favorites. My personal favorite drummer of all time is Ian Paice. But I would never say Paice is a better drummer than any of the other great rock drummers. That's just foolish. In the meantime, Buddy Rich is looking down and smirking while shaking his head. John Bonham was without question one of the greatest rock drummers of all time. So was Moon, Paice, Copeland, Ginger, etc
@@englishbobhuntley634 Ginger Baker is great, but isn't even close to Bonham
Back in the day John Bonham and the band came into the club I played in (on the river walk in San Antonio). I played In a really kick-ass group called Cat's Cradle. I was able to meet John who gave me the best compliment I ever received. He said "You have more class and color than any drummer I've seen in the States." I'm not exactly sure of what he meant by that. But I took it as a big compliment. He was the greatest rock drummer who ever lived!
OMG, FOR REAL!!?? You met him that day, lucky man. I was born in 2005, never was around that time to get an autograph from him. Lucky you
Now that is a drum solo context, speed, beat nothing out of place a TRUE genius
I love playing the drums.
Both Neil and Bonham are the reason I love to bash away on the drums. Those two are my heroes when it comes to the drums.
Can’t help but get a touch bit emotional when I play a Zeppelin song on the drums.
Unbelivable Drum Solo, John Bonham Was An Legend!
Neil Peart of the legendary Rush..G.O.A.T.
The man was unreal. RIP Bonzo
Bonham the true technician behind the drums.
What a talent he is a legend RIP
The best thing about this guy, jpj and jimmy also, is the older you get the more you can appreciate them. After drumming for 30 years, (and still sucking) i have gradually understand a little of the purity, poise, restraint, power and gift bonzo had. Not just the greatest drummer, but so good infact he makes all other look like bufoons. Wish i could thank him personally for countless hours of sheer joy he has given me. I've laughed, cried, stood and screamed, ran thru the house kungfu kicking mid air, curled into foetal position, howled like a wild wolf....... No other musician can do that. Just him. If anyone ever asks why led zep is the greatest band in history, dont answer. Just think of bonzo while you punch them in the face. We know!
100%
John Bonham was the best Drummer in the world I don't think anyone will ever be as good as him Led Zeppelin was always my favorite rock band I went to see them in concert when I was a teen it was Amazing thank god I got to grow up with the greatest music I listen to led Zeppelin everyday and I can never get tired of it great music last forever

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Have you heard drummers today? Blake Richardson? Tony rooster jr? Joey jordison? Vinnie Paul?
@@Kyle-vj1by People can form an opinion based on the style of a drummer so maybe he just likes Bonham's style. I liked it a lot as well but my favorite drummer is Neil Peart because he's so technical and I love his style. Who's your favorite and why?
@@Kyle-vj1by ask them who is the best and get the answer..
John Bonham created the style of rock drum
The comment was that there will never be a better drummer. That’s what I disagree with. Yes he was good, he was a pioneer. What I’m saying is that saying there will never be a better drummer is kinda ignorant to the progress that has been made by current drummers. Drummers today can drum freakin circles around Bonham.

To me the biggest drummer ever.
Well he was the best. 😍
I've always had the thought that one of the biggest reasons that Bonham is so good is his mastery of his footwork. His right foot was INCREDIBLE, and his left foot was so insanely independent.
Dude it’s so fucking cool watching him do the cross-over triplets once you’re able to play it yourself, shit just makes you feel like a fucking rockstar

Page is better guitar player than Harrison. Every Led Zeppelin member is more talented than The Beatles
Beatles were no where near this talented, they’re so overrated
@@jasonbrown9161 lol you can have your preference but saying Beatles is "overrated" is getting lame now. You clearly don't know what you're talking about. Led Zeppelin wouldn't have a chance if Beatles didn't pave the way for them.
@@nikitazogas3676 They were more technically proficient as instrumentalists, almost certainly. Whether they were more talented is a very different question, I'd say. Lennon and McCartney are the most celebrated songwriters in popular music history, whatever your opinion of them. There are many, many great musicians but there is only one act in music history that has literally dozens and dozens of songs that have entirely infiltrated the public consciousness to the point where literally everybody of any age would know them. They probably have more songs of that type than the next five acts put together. That isn't a coincidence. If we are discussing talent, in that regard they are absolutely unique. Not that Page and Plant weren't extremely proficient songwriters. They wrote many great songs.
Peace Love and Led Zeppelin 💙 RIP Bonzo 💙

Not only is bonzo amazing & one of the best drummers, but jimmy is one of the best guitarists. Robert one of the best vocalists. This entire band is the best of best. Just pure, raw talent, and complete focus on creativity and each individual. In an interview with Jimmy, he stated that when people listen to led zeppelin, he wanted them to be able to zone in on one thing or another, and then as a whole. Meaning, you can very clearly hear Robert. But also the guitar. And the drums. They are all clear. They're all phenomenal. Another band even comparative to this talent has yet to be created.
