- THREE thumb strengthening exercises with the Theraband Flexbar! If you have pain, weakness, tingling, numbness, or other conditions of the hand that make it difficult to perform well in your sport or even difficult to carry out your daily tasks I'd encourage you to try them! I'll show you thumb strengthening for the flexion, abduction, and adduction movements.
Thumb strength exercises with the Flexbar are excellent for high-level Gamers, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes, rock climbers, CrossFit athletes, or anyone who relies on grip strength to perform well in their sport. If you've had a hand or wrist injury, they're also helping to strengthen the muscles of the thumb and hand.
I use the green Theraband Flexbar in the video which provides a medium level of resistance. Depending on where you are in the rehab process or how strong your thumb is, you can use the blue Flexbar which is heavy resistance, or the red Flexbar which is light resistance. Other companies also make similar pieces of equipment that provide a yellow Flexbar alternative that is extra-light. I would suggest using the Theraband Flexbar and not the alternatives, when possible.
You can buy the Theraband Flexbars I use in this video AND in my clinic here:

Thanks so much for these videos, I've been getting awful pain and burning in my hands, thumb muslcles, wrists and especially the forearms for years and years, which I believe is from playing guitar. I've been doctors and hospital to check for Carpel tunnel etc, and nothing was found, and I've basically been dismissed from the issue alltogether, so I came across the theraband recently, and got it today. A lot of the videos focus only on tennis elbow which is a bit limited. It's great to see you have a series of all types of exercises for this. Thank you
Thanks for the kind words, I really hope you're able to find some relief with them!
Very helpful. Much appreciated
Thanks for checking out our channel!
Thank you it is a good find to get my thumb strength back
No problem, I hope you've found it helpful! Thanks for watching :)
Really good, thanka
Thanks for watching, I hope you found it helpful!
Can you do these if you're already doing the flexbar rehab exercise for tennis elbow?
I certainly use them in combination with each other with some patients.
So will these also help my general wrist tendinitis condition, or strictly the thumbs? I don't want to overlap this over my other wrist exercise if it will be too much at once.
It depends on which tendons are affected and which movements of the wrist are bothersome.
@@JasonWilliamsDC-Chiro-Rehab it's generally my flexors on both hands
@@settlingorca5374 Usually I'll start with the golfer's elbow exercises for wrist flexors, we have a video on that as well.
@@JasonWilliamsDC-Chiro-Rehab alright, I'll try them out
