Holy crap thanks so much! I really needed this. When I was around 11 years old I ended up breaking my wrist due to me attempting to preform a "backflip" off a swing set. I ended up fracturing my left elbow, which casting led to me only gaining around 60% supination and 100% pronation. Applied Dr. Ortho oil as well. Eucalyptus oil also helped. Only thing is that daily push your limits with great love and care. It took almost 3 months plus to fully recover from pain. Everyone has different situation but whatever it may be I'm sure that you'll do better.
2am very tired of my tendonitis pain in my wrists especially on my recent fracture these are absolutely immaculate. Lol will be adding pencil grip techniques to every lift I do in the gym when I’m healed. Your forearm stretches make me feel like the incredible hulk.
NIce. Thank you. I added guitar to my piano skills 60 years ago. Easy piano playing for me. But supination of the guitar neck forearm is very limited. I developed workarounds, including "thumb chords" and working with open tunings to create surprises where I just can't do normal professional fingerings. I'm now 72 and it's supposed to be "too late" to do anything about it medically. But again today--flying over a guitar neck but crashing unnecessarily into the problem out at the end of the runway---here I am, looking some idea to improve my range. I will try your exercises
Thank you so much! I don't know what is my "reason" for a reduced lef forearm mobility, but I am 36 and it just has always been like this, I think... Now I am in some sort of "self-improvement year", so I am trying to work on that too. The tips about the marker, finger relaxation, muscle relaxation and doing the passive movements from the forearm and not the wrist are actually helping a lot... Thanks again...
Feel so fortunate to find these awesome techniques within one week of cast removal. I hear this is a difficult challenge for a colles fracture. Now I have some ammunition. Excellent!!! Love your hand videos too . They have helped SO much. Thank you !
I've had to deal with a brachial plexus injury from birth, having nerves taken out of my calves to make my arm at least somewhat usable. So for my 23 years of life I haven't been able to fully use my right arm, as a result it's gotten weaker and smaller than my left. I might not ever be able to get it to fully extend, but here's hoping that I can at least restore my rotation to some degree through doing these exercises.
Broke my wrist (radius) 4 weeks ago and had surgery with 2 screws. They removed the cast yersterday along with the screws. I thought i would be able play golf and soccer today... little did i know 😫 but this has def helped me just in these 2 days.🎉
Thank you for explaining about the pain and stiffness, it's been a month out of the cast and have only had two 30 minutes physio sessions. I don't feel I am getting anywhere. But now I have found your channel, I am more hopeful. I was beginning to think that I would not be able to work again. My accident was almost 3 months ago, and my last plaster was on for 5 weeks but too tight, so was in a lot of pain. Thank you for the video.
Thanks for providing this well explained insight. My supination of 45 degrees (as measured by a physiotherapist) plays havoc with trying to play barre chords on guitar. I'll now focus on stretching the muscles (etc) around my radius.
Thank u Ma’am I m learning a great deal from ur videos when I exercise, the opposite side of radius on the little finger side I get pain but ur advice re using tape or band sounds very helpful I m going to try this and c how the pain is u r an excellent Physiotherapist 👍🏼👍🏼
This is super helpful. My fingers and wrist and all the way up to my deltoid have been so stiff and sore. My rotation has been minimal. I thought this was something I would have to adapt to (live with) instead of fix. Now I feel hopeful. Thanks!

I am nearly done with a month of PT. I find your information helpful and reassuring to know that I am doing a particular exercise properly and then finding additional ones to support my recovery. Hi, I shattered both the radius and ulna very near the elbow on November 16, 2021, had rods, plates and screws implanted and am currently in PT and OT for Lymphedema rehab and to get function back. I have had progress with OT on flexion and extension of the forearm but have not had much success with supination, I currently cannot supinate very much at all. In addition, I have a lot of swelling and pain in my wrist and all fingers especially the pinky and ring fingers. The doctor ordered the supination Dynasplint and I have been using it for several weeks and only ended up with more wrist pain. So, I tried your supination exercises as well as the hand and wrist exercises and am thrilled with the increased ROM. Thank you so much for posting these.

does it improve supination and pronation movement ?Before 3.5 month i had radial head fracture and ulna fracture , after 35 sessions of therapy , only 20 -25% supination and pronation still pending , plz explain your experience
Michelle, thank you for your videos! You have helped me more than my sessions of therapy. I had a fracture of the ulnar styloid and your exercises for supination are so effective. I followed also the extension exercises and it makes so much more sense to not go directly into flexion as my therapist suggested. It was so uncomfortable and was making little progress. Just by allowing the stretches to go deeper in extension I made significant progress with less pain. Your explanations are so good in how the forearm is moving and how the exercises should be done. So very helpful!🙏
I found these exercises very helpful easy to understand and very well demonstrated- it helps as I am 7 weeks since wrist plate operation- Thank you Michelle .

It's been 2 weeks since the slab is off and I can hardly supinate 25%.(it was 15% after week 1 so definitely some improvement) I've been doing PT sessions 4-5 days a week. But progress is very very slow and it's hampering my daily activities as I can hardly supinate
@@sushilsalins3576 I broke my radius and ulna was dislocated. It took 3 weeks before I got surgery and now 6 weeks after surgery I am allowed to rotate my forearm but I can't move it much, it's blocked. 10-15 degrees is what I can do and it's a bit frustrating but I see slow progress. I should rotate and hold it there for 5 sec, 3 times a day and after 2 weeks 5 times a day and it shouldn't hurt very much, max 5 of 10 where 10 is very painful. I can't bend my wrist very much either, about 30 degrees. How are you doing now?

I just got an elbow fracture treatment ..so now need a physiotheraphy excercises. your sessios are very helping. thank you
Hey I'm currently 2 months in recovery from terrible triad elbow injury, pronation and supernation has been very stiff, your video really improved my supernation will implement these exercises with my other physio program thank you! :)
That's a wicked injury! But I am glad to hear this video is a great supplement to what you are doing in physio. Best of luck to you!

@@sushilsalins3576 hey it’s been 19 months since my accident, i fell of my bike and dislocated my elbow, fractured my coronoid and radial head plus tore my ulna ligament. Recovery was very challenging and a horrible experience. Since then I have lost around 30% of my ROM that I can’t seem to get back.
@@barryscowen I have the same injury - which motions in particular are you struggling with? Have you tried wearing a static progressive splint? I'm still trying to get my flexion, pronation and supination ROM back.
@@AdityaKhuller I would say I’ve lost 15% on pronation and supernation. Flextion and extension I’ve lost around 25% each. I haven’t tried one of those no one has recommended it to me. Doctors just said that I would lose some range.
Holy crap thanks so much! I really needed this. When I was around 11 years old I ended up breaking my wrist due to me attempting to preform a "backflip" off a swing set. I ended up fracturing my left elbow, which casting led to me only gaining around 60% supination and 100% pronation. This was horrible for me, as I played guitar frequently at the time and could not play most of the notes on the fret-board. Thanks to you, I am now able to resume my 90% supination and am able to play all the notes on my guitar without problem!
This is wonderful to hear!! Thank you for sharing 🙏
All your video's are amazing! Helping me much better than physical therapy for a Colles fracture. Thank you, Michelle!
I broke my ulna and radius a month ago. Will get into the 3rd session of OCCT. Still cannot rotate my arm and my fingers are 70% stiff. Watching your video make me excited to do exercise at home. Thank you.

This is great. I had a radial fracture and double ulnar fracture, You described axactly where the pain is in trying supination. I will exercise these every day. THANK YOU
does it improve supination and pronation movement ?
Thank you very much. Excellent exercise after elbow surgery that my PT didn't mention.
Thank you for this wonderful explanation and exercises about supination and pronation. I just dislocated my elbow last month and I cast it straight and after a month it stiff and I have a lot of problem in twisting my wrist. I watch the video about elbow flexion but its say that I need to focus first in supination and pronation. I wish that I heal faster so I can help my family. Thank you again for this video. We really appreciate it. Greetings here in Philippines.
You are welcome. I truly hope they help! Keep up the hard work!
Hi Mark, how many weeks before you started seeing improvements in supination? I’ve been exercising my arm since July 22 yet There’s no improvement of my supination :(
Hi Michelle My name is Lina - I found your videos on You Tube and I wanted to thank you for the great information and reassuring commentary which I value during my distal radius fracture recovery ( injury almost 9 weeks ago) I was able to avoid surgery but boy the stiffness associated with supination is a challenge due to ongoing swelling) - other functionality is coming back nicely and faster so far - will keep working on it and keep patient as well! best wishes from Toronto Canada
R u able to supinate now?
spiral humerus fracture 7weeks on. tried physio 3weeks ago, omg I nearly passed out wrist pain. stopped doing now hand frozen. elbow stuck 45deg. doctor said I need to start up he actually got some movement. you've explained the pain was from ulna. am gonna retry. still got brace on for another six weeks. think I'll get a wrist brace. big thanks

Thank you so much Michelle virtual hand care for this information and exercises, you are doing a great job, I am 4 weeks down with a bike skid resulting in left forearm radius and ulna fracture followed by a surgery and implants of plates and screws in both the bones, quite painful, but I am recovering, I was having a lot of problem in forearm movements, but your videos are really helping me , n have reduced the pain which i used to get during supination, still I am not able to rotate it completely, but I am hopeful to get there, thank u so much for these exercises

This is wonderful to hear! You are welcome!
great improvement on my stiff wrist.. great help!. thankyou
Thanks so much! You were really clear and that helped a lot. Thanks for explaining that the ulna doesn't move, but the radius does. My therapist didn't tell me that. Also, grateful that i can do some of these things while watching tv or walking. Helps a lot.
You are welcome! I am happy to hear these are helping. Good luck on recovery!
same here re not being told about ulna. I was trying to rotate it all. excruciating pain. I stopped all physio waiting for a x-ray, I thought I'd broken something. back at hospital and surgeon very strict telling me I need to seriously move everything or I'll end up with permanent disability.

@@sushilsalins3576 Hello sir! Thank God that you're doing better now. Be persistent in suggested exercises and don't force out of proportion. Body will heal in due course of time. I know it's very very challenging but with strong will and regular daily care you will get better very soon. I was practicing regularly and also tried hot and cold compression of water. Applied Dr. Ortho oil as well. Eucalyptus oil also helped. Only thing is that daily push your limits with great love and care. It took almost 3 months plus to fully recover from pain.
Hi got my sutures removed yesterday and watching your video
Thank you so much! I don't know what is my "reason" for a reduced lef forearm mobility, but I am 36 and it just has always been like this, I think... Now I am in some sort of "self-improvement year", so I am trying to work on that too. The tips about the marker, finger relaxation, muscle relaxation and doing the passive movements from the forearm and not the wrist are actually helping a lot... Thanks again...
Very instructive and helpful. I've had radial distal fracture and wrist surgery.
Feel so fortunate to find these awesome techniques within one week of cast removal. I hear this is a difficult challenge for a colles fracture. Now I have some ammunition. Excellent!!! Love your hand videos too . They have helped SO much. Thank you !
You are welcome! Sending well wishes on your road to recovery!
Thank u so much but i cannot bent my thumb sorry what can i do
I've had to deal with a brachial plexus injury from birth, having nerves taken out of my calves to make my arm at least somewhat usable.
You are welcome! Best of luck on your recovery! 🙏
Thanks for providing this well explained insight. My supination of 45 degrees (as measured by a physiotherapist) plays havoc with trying to play barre chords on guitar. I'll now focus on stretching the muscles (etc) around my radius.
Just finished my tfcc surgery 3 months ago and still have difficulty on supination and other movement. This video is really helpful! Thanks a lot!
Thank u Ma’am I m learning a great deal from ur videos when I exercise, the opposite side of radius on the little finger side I get pain but ur advice re using tape or band sounds very helpful I m going to try this and c how the pain is u r an excellent

This is super helpful. My fingers and wrist and all the way up to my deltoid have been so stiff and sore. My rotation has been minimal. I thought this was something I would have to adapt to (live with) instead of fix. Now I feel hopeful. Thanks!

This is one of the best youtube videos ever for those of us with wrist issues. I wish you would train OTs to do what you do. Do you do private sessions? I am recovering from an open comminuted fracture of the ulna and radius and another bone that was disintegrated. Your exercises are giving me hope and I was not feeling that at all. Supination is the toughest as well as stiffness in the fingers and wrist all the time. Thank you for your giving this to us. I would willingly pay

Hello, I have been watching your videos and listening to some of the tips and suggestions that you give. I fell and broke my radius and ulna in the end of February. I am nearly done with a month of PT. I find your information helpful and reassuring to know that I am doing a particular exercise properly and then finding additional ones to support my recovery. Thanks for sharing these!
You're welcome! Sending strength on your recovery!

Thank you. These are helpful. Do you have any exercises for pronation? I had an internal fixation on my radius.
Thank you so much for this lecture. Actually this PT video is easy to understand 'supination' and 'pronation'. Because I couldn't catch the difference of the movement of our body when I only read and watch illustrations of a textbook I used in my school. Very many thanks again.
You are very welcome! Happy to help you understand the differences better!

Thank you so much. It helped me a lot. Both my ulna and radius were broken. I had a surgry for radius frantıre. I could not do supınation proporly. Especially the ball exercise helped me a lot.
Glad it helped!
Hi,
I shattered both the radius and ulna very near the elbow on November 16, 2021, had rods, plates and screws implanted and am currently in PT and OT for Lymphedema rehab and to get function back.

Thank you for posting this video. I’m in the UK and Im 4 weeks post radial head fracture. My physiotherapy consists of a 2 phone calls so far which needless to say aren’t helping much. I’m following your exercises so thank you so much 😊
does it improve supination and pronation movement ?Before 3.5 month i had radial head fracture and ulna fracture , after 35 sessions of therapy , only 20 -25% supination and pronation still pending , plz explain your experience

Broke my radius in two places on my left arm from playing basketball 2 weeks ago. Ended up getting one long rod and 9 screws to hold my bones together. @@sushilsalins3576 hi, it's been a little bit more than one year since surgery and I've recovered almost 100% of movement. The only thing is that sometimes I have pain with some repetitive movements (computer work). Surgeon still controlling me as I have minor synovitis, but in general I would say that I didn't expect to be that good today.
My advice, go to physiotherapist and do all exercices kine gives you, it is painful and desperating sometimes as you don't see progress but that is the most important step on recovery. Good luck!
