Love the power of the 1994-98 theme!
My favourite bit of that is how the first "do di da do" in sync with the horse riders! Followed by the land rover driving through a puddle!
The 1998-2005 and 2005-11 is what I grew up with watching Emmerdale with my parents before going to bed!
98-05 being the better one of the two thanks to the real power of the theme tune and the little snippets of village residents as it pans over the Yorkshire dales and finishes in the village of Emmerdale!
The 2011-present theme is good as well!

No they're tasteless and cheap in comparison to the talent put into the origionals. This list is diabolical.
I've got the long version of the original first theme on a rare compilation CD, and it really is a beautiful piece of music in its own right. Tony Hatch always did write a bloody good theme tune!

You can't beat the old original theme from the 1970s. Good old days. Just how our country should have been kept

94-98 is goated. Best era of the show with the Tates, Glovers, Dingles, Sugdens and Windsors.
I agree the 00's orchestral version was the best, but I prefer the titles used in the 2005-2011. It was like being whisked away from wherever you're from across the country into the Yorkshire Dales and into Emmerdale. The one before it with the square clips of random actors slapping each other and cheering was a bit random. The ones before that were showing hang gliding and rock-climbing. I don't ever remember those things being prominent in Emmerdale. To me, the 2005-2011 were the best fit.
It wasn’t random. It represented the human emotions. So much more creative than a boring flight over the country.
@@BLTKellys It was random 'actors'. If they had shown characters from the show I could understand it, but it was just clips of non-descript people arguing and cheering.

1994-1998 was my favourite.
I can't listen to the original theme music without a year in my eye. I was 4 years old and used to sit in front of the fire with my mum in my pre school years. Days that have long gone. My mum is 83 tomorrow.
No 9 was my favourite 1975-1989 childhood and Clive Hornby.

I think all the versions have their place, I'm just about old enough to remember when it changed from the original
piano and oboe arrangement to the 1992-1998 midi version done with either a Roland U-20 or U-220 but I think back
in the 90s they also did reruns of classic Emmerdale Farm episodes. Both orchestral versions are good and fit
the era in which they are used perfectly, even though the 1998 orchestral version is higher quality the modern
version fits the more modern times better despite the strings sounding thin but it still fits in better with the last
decade going into 2023 and however longer it's used for until if and when they decide to redo it again. I stopped
watching it on TV back in 2018 but I still watch clips of it on UA-cam. The 1998 orchestral version was also used
on 1992-1997 reruns around 2000.

Not my choice for number 1 spot. I mean who were those people in the titles?
I'd probably agree than the epic orchestral music with the floyver of Yorkshire countryside and the village is probably the best, I still find the music of the 2011 onwards theme good, ithe video in the new titles show it's gone even further from farming and rural life of course in the pictures of classy interiors shown in it of course!, as music it's an even more hard hitting orchestral theme in some ways.

Have too say 1980s titles where kinda cute with the Calf feeding from it's mother cow and I like the theme going with the sun set but the show wasn't as dramatic as it is today. But my all time favourite theme is 1998 too 2011 but my favourite intro scene has too be 1998 too 2005. Especially the longer ending credits in 1999 of the 1998 theme and exit outro scene from 1998

The best one was the worst in my opinion as we did not know any of those people! They were not characters in the show.
I admit that is random but I think it represents Emmerdale as an ensemble show. Having unnamed actors is a good way to avoid the problem Hollyoaks has with their intro.

Your choice of #1 is probably one of the worst - it features stylised characters who weren't even in the programme

Believe me, it was close between the top two. Comfortably the best version of the theme in the whole series. I want it back badly.

Never liked the 98/2011 theme. The piano version from the 90's had a real country village feel to it.
It sounded tinny and very computer generated. The orchestra version from 1998 was the best of all Emmerdale themes
98-05 is the worst. Who are the random people in black and white? They're not even on the programme. I prefer the mid-90s intro. The jumping lambs can't be bested.
#2 was better than #1. I never liked those ugly people blocking the beautiful scenery.
