I watched that recently, I found it funny when they compared how they both said ‘who wants to be a millionaire’. Tarrant had much more charisma, I think he was the better host.
Gotta say, I much prefer the classic intro with the various people all staring in wonderment at the logo, like their futures are all mere inches away. Monochrome figures are awash in colour in light as they approach their potential destinies... The new ones are just a bunch of swirly CGI. Not nearly as interesting or well directed.
@@GoldenPrimvally I mean... yeah, obviously. That was rather the point of the comment. I ain't saying what I put is the objective best, I just like it more.
Well... I'll have to wholeheartedly disagree with you here. For context: I'm from Vietnam, and I've seen all 3 types of WWTBAM intro here. A lot of Vietnamese REALLY prefer the Rave intro and, ironically, like the Classic intro the least. It's that, to us, the Rave intro is a simple, swirly CGI, but conveys the idea of WWTBAM across very well. You see the money, then the lifelines, then the gradual rise of the money tree, which is of course the entire point of the show. The Classic intro though, makes a lot of us unable to sleep at night. It has good subtexts, like you said, but the direction that they chose makes it... weirdly nightmarish. To us, it feels like people are being hypnotized and the logo is their cult-leader. It's unnerving. So yeah, we Vietnamese like the more modern style intro than the older ones, but that's just our opinion.

I think they're all great, but I especially like the shots of the people in the first three versions. There's something oddly... powerful about it, with the way the show's main title/logo is like a formidable god in the sky, ready for its next challenger, someone worthy to step into the light, drawing people towards the allure of glory, and they're gathering together looking up at it, wondering if they themselves could be the one...
The original titles were classy and dramatic and then ITV made the titles look and sound like Catchphrase - completely stripping out the soul of the programme. Glad to see an effort to rekindle the original feel and drama with the Clarkson-era titles. Pity about the question and answer graphics, though! Horrible!
Weirdly enough, I like the Rave titles more than the original one. The "look and sound like Catchphrase" one conveys the idea of WWTBAM across a lot better (the money, the lifelines, and the money tree). You said it's "stripping the soul of the programme". I'd say it's "introducing people to the programme very well) The one that you said "classy and dramatic", I'd say "unnerving and uncanny". It really feels like, to me, a cult looking up to their leader. It just feels... wrong. Also the question and answer graphics are just normal though, but that may just be me (I watch the Vietnam version of this) But hey, that's just my opinion. I just want to respectfully and healthily disagree with you on the matter.
@@NguyenCaoThang1504I will give my opinion with respect of course: 1. You are a Vietnamese so you have nothing to say and you don't have to give lessons to the British 2. Normal that you say that because you never grew up with this kind of intro You're just a kid again, it's no wonder

This has got such catchy music. 2004-2007 seems so underrated
I remembered the 4th opening titles as it had everything to do with the main suitable host Chris Tarrant.
1998 version will be better without sound effects one
Matthew Strachan made the music. God rest his soul.
Back in 2000 Chris Tarrant was interviewed by Regis Philbin, who hosted the American version of the show. Regis died on 24 July 2020 at the age of 88.

these are absolute tunes.
0:55 could have been a Doctor Who intro
There’s two presenters on this show first was Chris tarrant and now it’s Jeremy clarkson
