I'm 23 and Balamory was probably the only recurring children's show throughout my entire primary school life. I remember it would always start a few mins before the bus would arrive outside my house. I rarely caught the full episodes but the intro and character songs remain etched into my brain.
@@declangaming24 We visited shortly after they stopped filming. My son and daughter have severe autism and not much speech. But my son used to sing the balamory theme tune when we went down the front. My daughter was obsessed with the yellow house and looking for Josy jump. The family who lived in the green house got so fed up of people walking into they're home it was turned into a hotel. Might be why filming was stopped.
@@Justabitnosey yeah that's why but I don't get it the production company's where using there houses with there permission. Also CBBies went down hill when they got rid of gigglebiz made something special not as fun with the where all friends thing also grampa in my pocket got ruined because they made the kid older and not a 10 year English kid not being offensive or anything it sucks with them new kids. Also why would you get rid of gigglebiz the show where Justin played every character.
I'm 25 and the nostalgia is hitting me so hard I want to cry 🥲 I remember so many mornings and afternoons curlrd up on the sofa with my brothers, eating jam sandwiches and watching Balamory on CBeebies. As a disabled person, I especially loved the disability and diverse racial representation,. Felt so natural. It was definitely ahead of its time :')
Watched it with my daughter when she was tiny she's 17 now.... Last September I was touring Scotland on my motorbike and booked a sailing to Mull so I could see the place for myself. If you're up that way visiting I definitely recommend it.
Balamory introduced my, now teenagers, to story writing/telling long before they reached school age. Such a great preliteracy program for youngsters. The house and character colours, the problem to solve, the solution and the recounting all played important segments. Plus it introduced my Australian family to different children’s names, backgrounds, abilities and the gorgeous Scots accents. Thank you for broadcasting this wee reunion. Condolences on the loss of the lovely ‘Susie Sweet‘ Mary Riggans in 2013.
My son is 17 tomorrow and is autistic. He always goes back to watching Balamory. PC Plum as his favourite character and his songs too. But he loves the show no matter what. Shows how deep that went. Even I know the songs and words
Omg why have they not aged?! My son watched this as a toddler and now 19 looks almost older than they do. Balamory is legendery they made this so catchy i got involved with singing and dancing..
I have a 19 year old who was Balamory super fan. She still knows all the words to the songs. We went to Glasgow transport museum and they had the bus, pc plums bike and spencer tricycle on display. I was definitely more excited than my daughter at the time.
I could listen to Julie/ Miss Hoolie's accent all day. In fact when my kids were young I probably did! I suspect Balamory was switched on for my enjoyment more than theirs!
I loved this show. My son grew up with it, we have the entire box set and I grieved the day I realized he'd out grown it. Truth be told, I watched it after he stopped. All the characters were fantastic. Years later, when Mary Riggans (Suzie Sweet) died, I cried. We've lived a lot of places, but this was the best child show on tv. Their accents are still amazing (love a Scottish accent!)
Remember in primary school all us kids who were a bit old for Balamory would sing "what's the story in Balamory wouldn't you like to know? NO!!". Always thought most kids were secretly watching it when their wee brother or sister had it on on the telly though 😂
Brilliant memories of my daughters first TV show that taught her so much. She starts uni this month which tells you how long Balamory has had an impact for.

I stood outside after the show, just so I could meet him and get his autograph for my youngest son . This panto , I went to 3 times . He was a true gentleman, and talked to each and everyone of us x
