What kind of Christianity do you mean? There are so many groups? Do you all worship the same god? If you do then which one of you have it right and who are the ones that are wrong? Is your christianity just inference or are the rules plainly stated?
Hoo boy, yes there are a lot of Christian denominations, but the Bible doesn't have any real restrictions on where someone fits politically. Just because you are Christian does not mean you are conservative. In fact, I've met Christians who try not to align with any particular political party, and just vote however they themselves feel is correct. This is a lot to go into in one comment, and I suggest you do your own research rather than just asking in UA-cam comments sections. But hopefully I helped a little. One big thing to realize about Christianity is while Christians are urged to respect human authority, their highest authority should be God, and any human political group and government is WAY less significant
So we weren’t allowed to watch Captain Planet because they talked about saving the planet and my dumb ass mom thought that meant that population control aka abortion would be shoved down our throats. 😐
Earth -chan my mom was quiverfull. I guess there was an episode about how the earth was overpopulated or something so she felt that meant they were promoting abortion. She also didnt/doesn’t believe in climate change or basically anything to do with saving the planet like recycling etc. she thought it was all part of the evil liberal agenda lol
That was always so weird to me. I really missed out on the best childrens entertainment all cause of a silly name. They weren't even bratty. Bratz is to them what Bad B*tch is to many. A compliment when used the right way.
My mom didn’t let me watch it or have any of the dolls because she said they were hookers. At the time, I was too young to know what a hooker was. She wouldn’t tell me what a hooker was, so I tried to figure out the definition by myself. I thought that maybe a hooker was a fisherman (as in a fish hook) and I got really confused as to why fishermen were bad. 😆
Funnily enough, I actually wasn’t allowed to watch VeggieTales because my mom found it disrespectful to portray bible characters as vegetables and to alter the story/make jokes lol
That’s why I hate it now, I used to love it as a kid, but not anymore. I’m not even gonna allow my kids to watch it either if I become a parent someday in the future
The thing about that is that basically every single rendition of biblical stories that is(are?) put out changes the story. I like Prince of Egypt, a lot of it was changed, the dynamic between Moses and the pharaoh, the fact that Moses had no prior contact with his family (his mother nursed him herself and he clearly knew he was an israelite), the dynamic between Moses and Aaron. I wouldn't mind letting them watch it but I'd make sure that they understood the real issues in the story.
I hate that angry parents made them change the bunny song to make them repent. I grew hearing “I won’t go to school” and look at me getting my bachelor’s degree so???
The only one I thing it would be disrespectful to represent is God. No man has seen the Father, the Spirit has always been represented by either a bright light or a dove nowhere is he referred to as a dove, and Jesus has almost always been represented the same way long flowing hair and pale skin, always ignoring the fact that Jesus was a Jew and as such followed the Jewish law therefore he would not have long hair and he would not have pale skin; even in the media that shows the more realistic way the Israelites would look they still have Jesus with pale skin.

...and you were under it's spell, weren't you? Weren't you?!! Lol! Look it's really about parents doing what they think is best for their children. Many christians are taught to see the whole world as dangerous with hiden adversaries coming at you from every which way. Personally. I think it's far more about the amount children consume and far less about what shows in particular. A child needs an opportunity to develop an imagination and that's less likely if he can watch as much cartoons as he wants. A child needs time to be bored enough to find his imagination.
I mean, I was watching pg13 movies (Spider-Man mostly) when I was like 7, and spongebob and stuff. Kids aren’t stupid, they can tell what’s real and what isn’t. And if you’re a good parent and teach your kids right from wrong, kids can tell the differences in that too I believe.

100% feminism. Just because you find love doesn’t mean it expresses “toxic masculinity”. Not all men are out to get you and hold you back. Maybe reframe you’re position to “finding the right guy empowers both the man and the woman.” If you aren’t with someone that makes you better that’s where the issues arise.
@@alightened I think she had a problem with 20 year old guys finding teen girls in comas in the woods and the only way to save the girl was for the guy to kiss her. (If she did think that, she would not have gotten married and had me). She just didn't want her *8 year old girl thinking about guys* so soon. For instance, most of the stories are about young women who don't have parents/ run away from parents/ disagree with parents and then they find the man of their dreams. The contrast is this: bad or non-existent parents and authority figures vs perfect men. That's going to make an impression on a young girl's mind.

Charis M Shinto actually does influence anime (just like any religion influences art), and what we watch--especially as kids--influences us whether that's the intention or not. They were right. I couldn't watch Dragon Ball (but I could watch Pokemon).
I didn't allow our kids to watch Caillou only because he was a whiny, undisciplined child and after watching any of the episodes, our kids just got whinier and whinier. Who wants to listen to four kids whining all day?! ;-)
I didn't say I didn't allow them to watch Dora, just that she was always yelling, which I found obnoxious. ;-) They DID watch Dora. In fact, my eldest daughter, as a toddler, would yell "Ayudeme!" from her crib whenever she was awake from her nap and wanted me to come get her. Given that we are now missionaries in Mexico, it's really too bad our kids didn't pick up more Spanish as children.
This brings back so many memories. One in particular being that I wasn't allowed to watch wizards of waverly place because in one scene in a specific episode the main girl was wearing peace sign earrings and peace sign were from the devil. God knows what would have happened if my mom knew the show had magic in it

Oh god, I’m torn on whether or not conservative Christian parents would like or not like NGE. On one hand, the depictions if the “angels” are a lot more Old Testament and monstrous and could be used as an example as to why you should listen to adults (don’t listen to the adults in NGE btw), but on the other hand there’s a lot of sexualization of 14 year olds, gory violence, science jargon that doesn’t make sense and when you examine it closely the story makes very little sense. I guess when in doubt they’d forbid it.
Sea-Salt Art We don’t speak of that. But yeah I lumped that I’m with the sexualization bit. I also forgot everything with Shinji and Kawrou easily being slapped with the gay label (even though I personally don’t ship it), which is high heresy in conservative Christian belief. When I started watching Naruto, my mom googled it and she casually found hentai 😂😂😂😂 I wasn't even aware of Naruto's hentai existence, but we fought a lot because of that lol
Christian parents who don't allow their kids to watch certain shows doesn't make sense to me. I grew up watching at least every show on this list and didn't turn up being some witch or athiest (or wanting to be). If you teach your kids morals and responsibility and let God become their biggest influencer you won't have a problem. My entire childhood I loved singing hymns and praises for God but I also watched Scooby Doo, Thats so Raven, Spongebob and more shows some Christian parents would never let their kids watch. If the goal was to teach your kids that their is a darker side to this stuff and it's wrong then just teach them that, stop teaching fear and being fearful of what your child watches. Having faith and trusting that God is covering their lives and resting in their hearts is how the devil won't snatch them away, however, not telling them not to watch My Little Pony is just ever more reason for some kids to wind up losing faith. Some can't see the difference between their parents overbearing limitations and God's, causing them to see God as a dictator instead of the loving father that he is. Fear is a open door for the devil to enter through, Faith is the sanctuary that keeps him out.
Izzy Boi Draws ah yes because allowing your kid to watch a show with lgbt characters will *definitely* make them gay. because sexuality is a choice and you can’t be lgbt and christian at the same time because God hates all the gay people
@@emogeesus9497 And yet while homosexuality may be listed as a sin, it is also a sin to persecute/hurt, or even kill someone for any reason at all. Sadly, many Christians and non-Christians don't know or fully understand that, causing both sides not to listen to each other. And, theoretically speaking, your sexual orientation *is* changeable, we just don't have the medical technology to do so currently. By simply tweaking your brain's chemistry a bit, you can make substantial changes to your mind. People who specialize in gender-reassignment are being required to ask someone if they are *sure* they want to become transgender, because so many transgender people, particularly teens, are actually regretting the decision they've made and committing suicide. Just because you've always felt like a square peg that won't fit into a round hole all your life doesn't mean you can't change your mind. Plus, the Bible states that God sacrificed his own son to save humanity from sin because he poured out his *love* on us, and no one is unable to be forgiven. It would be infinitely better for someone who is LGBT to turn their life over to Christ than to choose the tragic path of ending their own life due to suffering mixed with unbelief and regret.

I also forgot everything with Shinji and Kawrou easily being slapped with the gay label (even though I personally don’t ship it), which is high heresy in conservative Christian belief. But my Christian kids are allowed to watch Harry Potter so there’s that.

I had a friend who couldn't watch He-Man and the Masters of the Universe because Skelator looked like the devil and that He-Man was the Prince of Eternia, and the only Prince of Eternia was Jesus.

She had no problem with Superman though, which is basically the same thing.

@Pippi Longstocking all you gotta keep your kids from is just steven universe and the last episode of adventure time.
Permission to piss you off?
@@HybridGib You can't change your sexuality though. That would be like trying to make someone who is heterosexual become gay.

When I was a kid someone told my mum a lot of characters in Harry Potter were named after demons and she believed them. She now loves Harry Potter
Wait, did she ban it while you were growing up?
What made her change her mind?
She figured once we were in highschool we would be smart enough to know that witchcraft wasn’t real so when my sister got the movies she watched them with us. Weird thing is she let us watch stuff like lord of the rings and pirates of the Caribbean.
Too bad my mom and dad aren’t like that, I’ve gotten into it some but they still insists that just because the Bible says “witchcraft is evil”
My parents put a ban on the whole series even after I read the whole thing

For a few years when I was growing up, I lived next door to a family of religious fanatics, and everything that _wasn't_ Disney or VeggieTales was strictly off limits. If they came over to my house to play, I had to make sure the channel wasn't on Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network, because all of those shows were "bad." Worst offender, as far as they were concerned, as COW AND CHICKEN, because of The Red Guy practically being the Devil.

I did not like watching that. It freaked me out and scared me.
Pee Wee is a degenerate, a pervert.

I along with He-Man (see my post for this video) I was not allowed to watch Pee-wee... "It lacked a certain amount of intelectual vigour".
Kat Terrific--There was a mid-20th century TV show for children called "Pinky Lee". "Pinky" told jokes throughout the show and had a pie or two shoved in his face per episode. One day, he said: "My girlfriend can't make apple pie, but she sure can make my banana cream." The screen went blank within seconds and my father (who used to watch with me) fell off the sofa onto the floor laughing. Sophia is pure evil. She may seem sweet and all, but wait until Mr. Cedric gets a hold of her... she'll take over the whole Kingdom of Enchancia!
My Little pony is awesome! It teaches that no matter how bad someone may seem, there's always some good to be found. The writer makes it a point to always turn the "bad guy" good. Good vs evil and good always wins.

We weren't allowed to watch Spongebob cause my parents thought he was voiced by a girl. We weren't allowed to watch Pokemon cause it meant "pocket monster" and we dont like any kind of monster in our house. And the Simpsons, for some reason it was specifically the Simpsons that was forbidden, no mention of Family Guy or South Park.
Well, the Simpsons came out several years before either of those two other shows. Did they even know about Family Guy or South Park?
Joel Stucki That was really early 2000s. They probably didn't know those existed. All they knew was the Simpsons is bad and sinful.

I couldn't watch Simpsons because it was "vulgar" Even now my parents won't let me watch it when I go to their house. Which is weird because they watch other shows (the office, parks and rec, blackish) that I would say are just as vulgar if not more so

The Simpsons because Bart talked back to his parents and called Homer by his name and not "dad"
DannyB Plays well Homer’s a shit dad especially to Bart so I understand why he calls him by his first name. Also Bart is a very realistic child character (what do all Christian parents think that the only good children are children like Rodd and Todd?)
