Capt Mike, Been watch watching your channel for awhile now. I retired on Oct 3 and 68yrs old male, so now I have more time to fish. Anyway I have a 5ft net I have been using for about 4 years, maybe 25% of the time I'd get a pancake on a good day. I recently bought an 8 ft net and what a difference. Could not do squat with it. It's kind of heavy for me, but I throw it everyday. Since watching tutorial, I got better, but the weight is a factor for me. Have to get it done quick because I run out of steam. I changed 1 of your steps, the part where you divide the net 50/50. Half is high, and half is low on my strong arm. I do 75/25 where 25% is the low part. Redistributing the weight helped a lot. This A.M. I threw 4 the net 4 times, 4 pancakes. Thanks for your help, great tutorial!
Congrats on your retirement Don, I’m about 5 years and 10 1/2 months but who’s counting lol anyway, keep on casting & good luck. Capt Mike, you’re very knowledgeable, patient and seem like an over all decent human being. Keep the videos coming!
Subscribed after watching this! A very busy guide, businessman and UA-camr that would take time out of his day to personally tutor a stranger says a lot about him. 👍
Your technique is dead on for me. I have a 12 ft. and was having trouble casting from the dock which is about 15 ft. off the water. Your videos have helped me immensely. Hardly anyone uses live bait here where I live because it's simply too hard to come by. A couple of years back ADFG legalized cast nets for herring. Now I'm catching some unbelievable snapper (yellow eye) and halibut with live bait. They can't resist it.. LIKE and SUBSCRIBED! Kind thanks and greetings from Alaska
Finally checked the “successfully throw the 8 foot cast net” item off my bucket list. Been trying for so many years and using Capt. Mike’s method, it happened. Thank you so much to Capt. Mike!!
BROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I finally got it!!! I got a 12’ cast net that I’ve been letting sit in a bucket for over a year. And I finally figured it out because of your video! Thank You Thank You Thank You. I can finally throw a big boy bet! Thanks brother
this is the best way i ever seen make perfect circle every time..If anyone not you twisting throwing to hard its half twist easy throw to PERFECT PANCAKE EVERYTIME i wish i would learned this way years ago i wouldnt had to throw net so much to get bait to go fishing
Mike, that description of how you hold your hand up and turn as you throw...money bro! If you are in Tampa area...and wanna fish...hit me up. JUJU Baby!
Mike, Thanks for the new found technique that I now use . I use an 8’ cast net and prior to this video , good throws were consistently inconsistent . Since watching this video I practiced a week before going down to the keys and upon arrival I was throwing pancakes pretty much every time, yielded great results . Keep up the great work !
I just bought 8’ net and was struggling, tried Captain Mike’s method and BAM first throw pancake. Now I’m constant and can’t wait to catch bait. Thank you Captain Mike
Love and appreciate your videos bro! This method has helped me catch bait with ease and confidence for over a year now. I used to be embarrassed to try cast netting around people because I sucked at it lol
Simon's. reviewing many, many videos proclaiming to be " the easiest" way, I found your cast net loading and throwing technique to be the best and easiest to understand. I can throw a net well consistently now.
I just got my first cast net (8ft) and using your method I was able to catch a few mullet on my second real throw...I did practice a few times in my front yard before heading out, but I just want to say thanks! Finger Mullet around here can be $10 a dozen. With a bit more practice I'll be catching all my own bait!
You rock!!! I tried several times with several methods from other videos and totally failed. I was throwing perfect pancakes on 2nd throw with your method.
My grandparents are fishermen but never saw them using this technique in fishing,, I'm gonna try this technique in my coming vacation in the place of my grandparent😊😊😊, and im ryt handed . Such a detailed step by step... , 2nd vids to watch... Thanks a lot....
Amazing video I was also struggling throwing my cast net and couldn't find a good method this i feel is the best way to throw it you don't need to put any lead in you're mouth and also you wont be soaking wet in the beginning of you're fishing day. Thank you Capitan Mike
Just ordered a 10 ft cast net can’t wait to try it out and finally get some good bait. Awesome video learned a lot in a short time watching this. Thanks for making this video.
Dude thank you soooo much no more paying for bait 🙏😁 I actually went out yesterday used your technique and caught nice size mullet. I let them all go I wasn’t going to fish just wanted to put my skill to the test. Im Very grateful
Excellent instructional video. I tried several so called easy and best technics and threw a taco instead of a pancake every time . This technique is clean and easy and you don’t have to put that dirty rope in your mouth or throw part of a wet net on your back and shoulder. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
I got a net over the weekend. Went fishing today and caught 3 little bait fish at the second cast. Didn't open up a circle like that so I was very surprised. Learning new things is great.
I see video from time to time and I just have to question how and why someone would put a thumbs down I have thrown cast nets for awhile and came across this video and now I don’t have to hold it in my teeth when throwing in nasty water great job teaching us how to throw
Mike you have become my fav channel to watch on UA-cam by far. Can you do a video on just how to find baits and some details like moon phase effects on bait, tide effects, etc. Thank you for the great content!
Very excellent tutorial. I watched it several times and am positive I can throw it ! Now all I need is a net, an body of water and a reason to catch the little buggers!
Awesome video, awesome page. Recently got into saltwater fishing and your videos have helped me out big time. Went to doctors pass here in naples today and thanks to what I learned from your videos I was able to catch some live bait on the 5ft cast net and caught 4 snook. Keep up the good work and thanks again !
I learned how to throw from this video on a 7ft now i've moved to a ten caught thousands of shad since and taught several other people how to throw in this style
I like this method because its easier to load, I just bought a 8 ft cast net and I'm getting good results with this method. I started with a 5 ft net, went to a 6 ft net but the deeper bait fish require a bigger net which is why I steping up in size, Great video,, thanks
Dude that's awesome stuff right there... And I'm not just talking about that badass cast net technique... This video made me a lifetime sub... No doubt. Just ran across your channel last night Tight Lines Brotha 😎
I just got my first cast net so I was watching a lot of videos trying learn how to throw. There were some that were helpful but no matter what technique I tried at best I would throw a banana. I watched your video and gave your technique a try. My first cast sucked but I must have loaded it wrong. My second and consecutive casts were almost full pancakes. Thank you for this seminar.
This quickly became my favorite channel! Keep them coming sir ! Greeting all the way from Del Rio, Tx Headed to the coast in a few days Can’t wait to use the tips and tricks you have shown on here! Thanks !!! Tight lines!!!
This technique works so well for me, I throw my 6 foot net from my kayak while sitting and get pancakes 90% of the time. There old way I did it I had to be standing and still didn't get the net to spread as well most of the time. Thanks for your video!
7:05, you know, I never pickup on this part watching your other videos on the hand technique. One day while practicing, I stumbled on to it all by myself and it made a big difference. Now, looking at this video I see you mention it. By the way, I have watched this video before as well and just missed it I guess. Anyway, the roll of the hand does make a big difference.
Thanks for the instructions. Watching different styles and presentations by others. Yours is the one that I will follow. Your presentation is direct and the style is simpler to use.
Your last video got me throwing pancakes like a champ. Thanks for that. My nine year old watched it as well and got good throws with a 7ft net within mins. Thanks again brotha!
Thanks for the video....impressive first throw on the 12' .... you've got this net casting wired... I have a 6' I can't throw for jack, shameful cast netter ... having watched your video I 'm ready to give it anther shot... can't wait to try your method
I'm looking to buy my 1st cast net. Today I used frozen shrimp and squid. Would love to get my 1st net to get some free live bait. Save money for sure. Thank you for the video on how to throw them step by step and how to store them. Can't wait till I get my 1st one. Good day🐠🎣🎣
Great video Mike! @8:03 hidden gem tip, to wrap the net around your hand before pulling into the boat. Sometimes I have to do that on the beach too, when I get a huge load of bait (or sea grass!) so I don't stretch or damage the braile lines by pulling from the horn/line. That 12'x1/4" net is gorgeous. You can clearly see all sewn six panels on the yard. I had a 10'x3/16" mesh that was like throwing a heavy bed sheet. It didn't survive an encounter with an oyster bar near Boynton inlet... Your comment about not "catching grass" at @14:15 made me laugh, because up at Jupiter inlet is a tiki bar called the Square Grouper, named for the only grass you hope to catch!😜
You’re a real ass dude man! Love it! I’ve been throwing a net since I was a kid too so I realize How much you actually helped Pedro. By the end of the day it seemed that he was pretty smooth with the style and throwing some flat cakes. Good show brother keep up the Great videos
Wow Thank you so so much I just got an 8’ net and followed your instructions and in 2 cast I got it so exciting. Am going to subscribe your the best !!!!!
Yeah mike this method is new to me as well and I can tell you now my nets are spreading way better, I can’t wait to catch some bait....tired of catching pine straw!!great video
After watching your other video and reviewing your double load technique on this video I picked up a couple more pointers, mainly initial holding position of the palm of the strong hand, flipping the sting hand palm during the throwing motion. Mistakenly , I thought my 6ft 1.3#, 1/4, 6 panel cast net was too heavy but I just have to pay attention to the details of the throw and I should be able to catch bait every now and then, thanks to your excellent videos!
Last weekend I went snook fishing from the beach, I took my new cast net and I thought that it would be easy to catch live bait. Epic fail! My shoulder is still burning and I barely got a few baits, and NO snook. You try and learn, maybe next time. I need to sharpen my cast net throwing techniques, so thanks for the "how to" videos, they've helped a lot.
I am brand new to cast nets. I bought one in hopes of catching my own bait for catfishing. I watched several videos of a so called "Easy Method" and ran across your first video but thought that your way had extra steps the other method did not have. So, I grabbed my net, went to the lake and throw after throw after throw with little to no opening of the net. At 1st I was mad lol. I decided to try your method and after just a few throws I had it opening up, not perfect but enough that I was pulling in bait. I have a little more practice ahead of me to get dialed in consistently but just wanted to say thanks for both of your net videos as they helped me a lot!
Practised an hour yesterday after your first video. Enjoyed this follow up video. Going out again today to practice. Pretty sure I will master your technique today. Thanks.
I’m going to adopt your throwing technique because I don’t do very well with my current technique. Unfortunately, I won’t get any practice until I get home from Afghanistan.

Try my 3 piece method as well. It works much better for a bigger and heavier net. Thanks Donald
Congrats on your retirement Don, I’m about 5 years and 10 1/2 months but who’s counting lol anyway, keep on casting & good luck.

Still messing up couldn't get pancake, but thanks
@@OMOLMentoringinc When you throw your net before letting go with the other hand count 1 it is The second hand that opens the net.

Great video. Tooks parts of it and applied it to my style. Was instantly throwing perfect rings more consistently. Thanks.

I got a net over the weekend. Went fishing today and caught 3 little bait fish at the second cast. Didn't open up a circle like that so I was very surprised. Learning new things is great.
Bro, appreciate this simple tutorial...Made it so easy for me now‼️💯
