I have tried every method out there and have never been able to throw a larger net well. I have tried for years!!!! Thanks a bunch, so easy using this method is unbelievable!!
I’m 69 years old and just started cast netting for shrimp. I’ve been struggling to find what works for me. Your method worked from the first cast. Thanks.
On the surface, the most logical way to throw a net and the most concise instruction. I am a second day net owner and so far, my results have been pure crap. I am going to try your way, ASAP. Thanks!
Didn’t make heads or tails of the instructions that came with the new cast net. Tried a easy method with mixed results. This 50/50 method has been full circle from the start ! Thanks for sharing! 😃👍
Got to get a new cast net this weekend. Ripped my 7ft on rocks at Pendleton last weekend. Bait was tough to get there. Planning on a trip to osceola next weekend if the sippi keeps dropping.
Found this vid accidentally (searching dehooker videos) after watching dozens online. Out of best two (one islamorada style and the other a single handed method similar to this one except for the last loop that separates the two levels; over the bundle vs your tiny loop) and this is my new method of casting. Easier to follow and measure (HALVES) quickly on the fly. Just gotta remember to do the little wrist twist to loop before getting the two hanging lead lines. Thank you!
New to me and will try that..I use the 50/50 on the top half, but not in the second half and sometimes I Got a good throw sometimes and sometimes not. It was pot luck at best. But big river is over 29, couldn't wait till 21'?😀😀😀
Really enjoy your videos as a new subscriber. I have the itch to build a boat myself. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery you know. What happened to the promised boat build videos?
Hi friend I couldn’t see if you did or didn’t have the American Flag on your great pontoon. If you do please don’t pay me any attention, if not Please put one on her. I’m challenging ALL FISHERMAN to fly Ol Glory on their boats to show support for our Veterans and active Military. Thanks 🇺🇸
I just got a cast net yesterday and went and caught a bunch of baby Asian carp for bait. My half circles still did the job lol. But I'm gonna try this way next time
Hey sir, a quick question for you. I'm watching your videos, loving them BTW. the one where you taught the kids how to throw and gave them an AHI net. Are those nets worth the money? I'm looking for a 6 or 7 ft net, and the local walmart has them in stock but some of the reviews aren't great on the red rhino net by AHI. Not looking to spend a whole lot of money on my old age fixed income, LOL but don't want to waste money on one that's not worth it. Thanks!
I bought a 7 Ft BC I can trow a 5 ft, Wrong. But after watching your Vidio I went outside and after a dozen trys, I wish I bought a 10 ft. I now can trow this 7ft net further and Better than my 5 ft. Thanks, Big time
That wasn't " half bad". 50/50 I mean. Nice video. Thank you. I've been struggling with just a little 7-footer despite hours of UA-cam. I think I'm just a hammerhead. Sometimes they're perfect circles and sometimes they're pork chops, bananas, etc... I'm going 50/50 tonight. Shrimp or running in the St Johns River in Jacksonville.
This will be my technique. Never seen a video of people in undeveloped countries put lead in their mouth or any of the craziness. It’s simple from the hip
Thanks for the great "How Too"! Now I think I'm ready to order a larger net then the silly Walmart one I have. One video I would love to see you do is a short one on how bait looks like while on the water. I search and search but just have no example of what to exactly to look for. Again great videos and Happy Fishing!
@@catfishkarma1 I will check it out! I was on the water today and couldn't tell the diffrence between a breeze on the water and shad busting! LMAO Happy Fishing!
When you know how to do something it is hard to break down each step because to you some minor parts seem to be common sense. Your way is the best way and others do the same with out naming it but by saying 50/50 it does reinforce the process. My biggest flaw was that once I had it all in place I would spin to fast and not give the net time to flow open. I have a 6 and 10foot net and now I can get some use out of them.
Thank you for this video. Very helpful! However, as someone who has been using the teeth method of casting nets for 35 years, I noticed that in order to learn this method properly, I had to unlearn a few things from my old method. For example, the directional force of the hands is complete opposite. For the teeth method, my left (nondominant) hand would extend out in 12 o'clock position mid cast, while my right hand follows the left as it releases the net. In your method, the right hand throws first, while the left hand follows. In the teeth method, most of the net is on my right side. So upon twisting my body, I focus on building energy into the portion of net that hangs down to my right. But in your method, because the net is already partially opened (due to the Half technique), energy is initially sent to the portion of net hanging down, but as that part of the net extends out and opens, it "pulls" the remaining net from your hand. So in a sence, in your method, the cast net casts itself! A brilliant method if I could just forget the ways and habits of my old method.
i thouht it was easy to throw it but iam wrong its not easy..hope i can learn watching to your video..iam just a new blogger to hope to help me MONITIZED my channel. thank you..so much..
Understandably , as how place for, thus way improvised , and this seems mainstream vehicle no prototype permissibility for usefullness , the that kid is prodigiously, and not all are gifted 😢
there are a few ways …dark patches in the water ….fish jumping ….a fair few seagulls hovering over a area (they are attacking bait schools) buy a nice pair of spotters sunglasses (they are expensive like 200-300$ but man are they good …I’d recommend a brown lense but everybody has a preference there) watch for water movement at the top….like long streaks moving (may not be a school but a couple or one nice fish) there are a million ways ….but sometimes if all else fails cast cast and cast again all the way along your area ….all the way back …try different distances…..it’s a good workout to have lost a ton of weight ….I’m fairly new but that’s all I got for you
This is the most forgiving method for me. I'm a 67 year old 5'9" novice throwing a 9 foot ⅜" 9 lb net (didn't know better, next time I'll get a 6 foot 4½ lb net). Anyway at least the net opens adequately (about 10 Foot diameter) in the pool most of the time after about 10 practice throws. At least good enough to go try some bait. My 2 cents addition keep the dominant hand stretched out from your body to get a wider throwing arc, if the net pendulums back away from the throw direction throw when it's swinging back to the throw direction and accelerate the throw slow smooth and easy, it seems to open the net better than when you try a fast accelerating launch. Net throwing might be and look effortless and easy to all the pros that do these "easy" how to videos but for a first timer it ain't easy. I've watched all the vids and this method works for me, somewhat, the 50/50 tuneup on it is what I'm trying now.
Just got a 7ft net, with this method I threw two perfect throws right out the box. Thanks a ton!
I tried half a dozen different methods and this one opened up the best for me. Thanks

Thank you!. You nailed it. After only few minutes, I feel like a pro.
That seems like the easiest way to throw a cast net thx definitely going to give it a try
As always another helpful hint to improve my time on the water. Thank you!
Perfect Buddy. I have learned a lot from you. I can now throw the net on a circle throw. 50/50 is great

This is a great video.
One of these days I'm gonna have to invest in a cast net. Great tutorial bud.
Thanks for the video. Been struggling trying to throw these things. Still no pancakes but I’m okay with a avocado or a pear. Great info. Thanks
