- There use to be a way to change the file explorer in Windows 11. Unfortunately in Windows 11 23H2 Microsoft broke the reg hack that would revert File Explorer to the old Windows 10 File Explorer. In this video I will show you how to do it anyway.

Here's one you can mention in a future video. Found a setting microsoft quietly slipped into the windows 10 an win 11 settings menu without users even knowing or being informed of it. in windows 11 go to TIME & LANGUGE/TYPING/TYPING INSIGHTS there you will find a setting that is on an allowing AI to log your key strokes. IN win 10 you go to DEVICES/TYPING/TYPING INSIGHTS to get to it.

Well, there could/would be a lawsuit if you can prove they do collect the data as it states they DO NOT collect it. It says it is machine based only...but, who knows. I tend to think they don't, because that would be a MASSIVE invasion of privacy lawsuit that they would not win.
What I don't like in Windows 11 is the inconsistent UI of File Explorer. The standalone version of Explorer has the W11 UI, but the pop up version (when you save or open files) uses the W10 UI.

I remember even when Windows 98 came out, people would revert back to the old Windows 95 file manager.
I love the "Tabs" in explorer. It makes so much easier ti work with multiple directories.

hey ;) wondered few days ago how to bring back the option that every drive is showed separated. or i remember wrong ? if i have external drive with more than one partition it shows as a part of big group of the pc. so for example 3 physical drives but 8 partitions. but in explorer they show in one group as it was one drive . have you tried to deal with that ?

Everytime Microsoft releases a feature update for Windows 11, they have been disabling Control Panel and opening in settings. There are some things better in the Control Panel like the Devices and Printers that was introduced in Windows 7

HI !!! THANKS FOR YOUR GREAT VIDEOS, Do you plan on doing a work around video for windows 11 24h2 that has another even worse restriction on older cpus, its name i don't remeber but something like :popcnt instructions and if the cpu doesn't have it it won't boot into windows 11
Is there a way to get the right click menu back to the way it was? I use the cut/move/new folder features regularly and for some reason they have suddenly become really hard to locate. It seems like change for the sake of it rather than to improve anything.
I’ve watched a couple of your videos, and they are very helpful. I’ve a PC problem myself, it’s a bit off topic but maybe you or someone else here can help. I’m running windows 10 and recently my mouse starting acting very weird. If I try and drag and drop, it will deselect as I move and open the file. If I try and drag multiple files, it will do the same mid drag it will deselect and open one. If I’m using photoshop, it will randomly open dialogue boxes, and if I press the back or forward icon on my internet browser it will jump back 2 or 3 pages. My touch pad mouse has no issue. I’ve tried to disable the touchpad, to see if there is a conflict but I couldn't. I’ve ran sfc /scannow and dism restore health which I followed from one of your videos, but it didn’t stop the problem. I’m thinking could it be a hardware problem? Please help.

At 22L39 you talked about the Use classic drive groupings. And you were correct as to what the setting does. But, the reason you were unable to get it to work. Is because you failed to restart File Explorer. Yes! It is one of those settings that require the restarting of File Explorer in order for it to take effect.

Got any suggestions? Running UA-cam on the laptop causes my CPU to go high. My laptop is an acer aspire es1-512 upgrade to a SSD and 8 gigs of ram the processor seems slow it's only 2.16ghz. thanks for any suggestions

Yea i don't think so man. You'll need some program or something for that, not that I know of one.

Explorer Patcher worked! (not the other solution with a new registry key). Together with Open-Shell Menu and QTTabbar (QuizoApps / Wikidot - tabs in a separate toolbar, that you can modify/group - not the clunky Windows 11 tabs) I'm back to my W10 set-up: smooth, versatile and functional - thank you!

recently my pc has gotten the blue screen error loop and i tried everything to stop the issue like restore points it never worked i had no choice but to reinstall windows and so i did and lost all my gaming apps BACKGROUNDS data and stuff i want to know how to recover it all back. I also deleted my partiotn by accident in trying to fix the problem if you coukd help

I love Explorer Patcher i have it on all my PCs, its great to have the Ribbon back and the context menus and not to mention win-10 start menu, Just hope MS won't break it with an update
They probably will since they hate that kind of stuff instead of doing it on Windows 11 I would just use Windows 10 LTSC it won't get any feature updates that are anti-customization.

Hi, thanks for the awesome videos. This is one that i cannot figure out. My youtube audio losses sync with the video after about 3 mins. I have to refresh my webpage in order to correct it everytime. This happens on all browsers i have treied. Chrome, Edge and firefox. It doesnt happen in windows 10 but in windows 11. I have reinstalled my OS, but the same thing happens. Updated my Drivers....SAme thing. Maybe you can try to help. Thanks Again!!
My Windows 11 File Explorer with tabs and everything, suddenly broke when I did some Powershell command which had nothing to do with File Explorer and now I have the Windows 10 File Explorer without tabs and I hate it. Even Explorer patcher doesn't bring it back for some reason :( What should I do????
I think it breaks drag and drop into programs because my other laptop running windows 1122h2 I can this one after running this program I can’t
Now that you can drag tabs from one explorer window to another, and drag a file or folder from one window, onto the hidden tab off another window and that tab comes to the foreground allowing you to drop the file or folder into a folder in that tab, I haven't looked back at the old Explorer. This has revolutionised the way I use Explorer. But all power to those who just want the old clunky way 😄
I did the windows 7 explorer and it dosent give me an option to view large or small on the right..
I have been using open/classic shell for start menu ever since 7 and altap salamander as file manager forever as well and it is now freeware. I had bought it in the past. The combined network/volume tray thing is kinda a copy of what gnome has done. It is kinda annoying if you install eartrumpet for example.
20:00 setting it to "left/top" does not mean "top left" but rather "left" for horizontal taskbars and "top" for vertical ones 😎😉

i like that weather settings mod but... i kind like new UI and that doesn't support weather widget. BUT.... since i installed it i am having issues while booting MY PC. and it sometimes crashes my PC. After proper boot up then suddenly the screen goes dark for more than 30 sec and restart my PC. 1st i thought i had to reset my bios because the time was not syncing at all and Asus Aura was going crazy full ON. I ain't gonna use it anymore. So i just kicked this patch from my PC with Revo uninstaller and all good now.

I miss the windows 10 ribbon context options... I like to select a music file and click play all in the folder
I do like the new tabs in file explorer. What i hate is the interface itself and how it looks. Which ExplorerPatcher doesn't change. Open Shell did, but it doesn't fully work on Windows 11. But i am still happy Fie explorer exists.
i tried to "setup" it simply runs once in the background. changes a bunch of settings and disappears. i can't even undo the mess it made on my system.
Installed Win11 on unsupported hardware - seems to run correctly with no problems - ExplorerPatcher will not show after clicking to run as admin.
In my experience, these types of hacks end up creating more issues than they may resolve.
Better to invest in time understanding how new features work.
Microsoft should have stuck to their statement Windows 10 would be the last OS release.

I was hoping to see the ONE thing I really want back, but alas it isn't there, which is the ability to make my task bar multi level. I miss my 2 level bar with apps on top and running apps on bottom. I don't understand why MS won't put this ability back. Surely they are smart enough to know how to do it. LOL None of the hacks work anymore and as part of the testing team I have asked directly for it over and over again. Someday, someone will crack that puppy....

Did this help anyone with slow explorer? When I open it it takes 1-2 sec to load the ribbon. It's annoying af.
To have tabs in both Windows 10 and 11 File Explorer I use Total Commander =)
I certainly will get Explorer patcher, can't stand the thought of having to move Windows 11 the way it is without now.

Windows 11 file explorer is very smilar to XP explorer and I like it but I hate this white and black theme bar. In Windows 10 I set blue theme and explorer have blue bar.
Dont install the explorer patcher, when windows get an update there is a chance pc will not boot. it happend to me few times.

Since windows 3.,11 I patched things only when I updated to a major version. Since window 8 I fight sith it monthly or weekly, redoing things blocking new invasions to workflow. In 2019 I made another OS my daily driver, windows sits in the corner answering faxes. My PC, my rules.
The main thing that irks me about the newer file explorer is the delay that the top part of the ribbon takes to load vs the rest of the window. Does anyone else find this annoying ?
Hello. You who are so good with computers, can you answer me a HDD disk question and why this happened to me? I am running win11 23h2 with latest updates.
I have a 2TB external samsung mechanical hard drive.
I went into it and ran a program
(Toshiba bluetooth stack) Driver as I have done in win 10 without problems. The program asked me to restart the computer, which I did. Everything went well and the usb bluetoot worked well.
Then I went back to the same external 2TB hard drive to find that all the content was gone. It only said (RAW) and nothing else. Everything was gone.
I restarted my computer and win11 suddenly took a short disk repair before I got into win11.
Then all the data was back on the hard drive except that I no longer had any user access to the hard drive. I tried giving the hard drive this by tapping on the hard drive and going into security. I know how this is done. win11 started scanning the hard drive to give me permission. Suddenly, something on the hard drive failed and the User access process stopped.
I tried linux usb with no luck. Then I tried my android TV box which worked GREAT. But USB 2 is slow so transferring data from one disk to another was SLOW. I took one root folder at a time. A 450GB folder was reported to take 10 hours to transfer over usb 2.
If you have the opportunity, mount two hard drives inside a computer with a SATA connection and run Android x86 via boot usb, this is the fastest way.
Windows 11 file manager is good no issues
The best windows is XP. Vista was good too. Since then windows have gone out of rails.
Nah I would say Since Windows 8. Unlike the 3 or 4 or so pieces of garbage we received from Micro$oft Windows 7 is the last good OS made by them till anything made after I see as an afterthought I despise anything post Windows 7 Era lets all jump off of this sinking ship we call Post Windows 7/Modern Windows and go to Linux and Mac OS.

Explorer Patcher isnt trying to recreate the taskbar or Startmenu, it uses real Windows 10 ressources by replacing certain files and reg entrys
The release 5 days before Feb 20,2024 will not download on my computer - says it has a virus, which I doubt, but still it will not d/l.

My biggest complaints with Win 11 are file explorer and right click context menu, looks like this fixes them both.
I'll give you the one thing I despise about the new file explorer. I can't put my tabs side by side, or one above another. We (and by we I mean myself and the other Microsoft employees in the 90s) had this stuff in some VERY old versions of windows. Like 3.1, Window for Workgroups and others. Unless Microsoft has recently hosed their own development tools, making a multi-window interface is just a couple of function calls. Honestly, it feels lazy and/or amateurish. Literally, high school computer science kids can write this into the program. It may sound minor, but dragging and dropping files is the strongest point of a GUI file management system. If I have to open two windows with tabs to do this it completely misses the point of the tabbed environement.

Yeah but well unless you like malware and no new hardware that is not supported, windows 7 came out a long long time ago, how long did you stay on Windows XP? Only Windows 10 and later are supported by Microsoft and are patched regularly for security I am sure there is a reason you are still using windows 7.

Windows server 2022 has all windows 10 looks and windows 10 file explorer.
It has a single iso released in 2021 .
It gives 2030 updates and defender update.
So I think I can used as a alternative to windows 10.

You sound like Microsoft there at the end. When Windows 10 loses support, you have no alternative but go to windows 11 or Windows 12. Hmmm, I wonder if they are the only alternatives.
with windows 11 MS started adding stuff to the UI that clogs up the window. Taskmanager, exploerer, notepad have lower % of usable space compared to the w10 versions. W11 UI is a joke, it's made to look nice on behance and not be usable, it doesn't know what it wants to be, a touch UI or UI for mnk.

Explorer patcher looks like it might help me upgrade to Win 11 but i feel like it should not be necessery. All the features that Explorer patcher provides should be part of Win 11. I guess im gonna find out when Win 10 loses support. Until then im not upgrading. Win 11 doesnt provide enough for me to justify that upgrade. Right now it feels more like downgrade.
It would have been more relevant the opposite - to get tabs in windows 10 file explorer as Microsoft never gave it. I know there are alternative file explorer software, third-party software, with that functionality, but it would be better to have it in the regular native file explorer. Maybe there is a tweak by copying system files from windows 11 to windows 10, but I am not aware of any, and experimenting maybe too dangerous if you don't want to break the windows 10 installation.
We should always go forward not backward, windows 11 file explorer tabs constitute no problem, if you don't like it, just don't use it.
I find the new explorer VERY laggy. I double-click on an image to open in Irfanview and.........................................there it is!
Chrome tries to block it as suspicious. Then, I told Chrome to download it anyway. Windows Defender flags it as dangerous. Then I say to ignore it, and ran it through an online virus scanner, Virus Total. It shows up as "malicious", a PUA, and a HackTool...
Just a little tip: Intros for your videos are not good for your channel anymore. It can take away your viewers even if its an one second intro.

This peep runs Windows 11 default and I loves it, does everything I need. I don't store anything on C: so I can reinstall often and keep it fresh. Peeps need to accept change and get used to it.

99% of my clients HATE windows 11. I have to help them out to get back to Windows 10. Microsoft never learns...
DO NOT USE THIS APP !!!!! It totally messed up my brother's laptop. He couldn't use any browser and the computer locked up. We had to reinstall his system to fix the problem. It's not worth the risk just to get the Windows 10 file explorer. Use at your own risk !!!!!!

@@CyberCPUWe did uninstall it. That didn't solve the problem. I read online that other people have had issues with it similar to ours. I did state that in my opinion it should be used at your own risk. I emailed you for any suggestions to correct the problem but haven't heard from you as of yet.
