These short winter days are getting a bit longer each day - spring will be here before we know it! Thanks again and tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
I love watching your stuff....You two are so blessed and awesome together ! My wife has always been my best hunting and fishing partner too, has been going on now for 34 years, wouldn't trade it for the world!! We are in the process of moving to the Kenai, watching your videos helps me quell the anxiety of getting up there! Or maybe makes me even more jacked to get up there HA! Only a couple months to go and we head up God willing!! You two take care, and enjoy the journey!!!
Hi Angling Spiders thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed this halibut action! Thanks for the positive comment - it is always great when you can salvage a good catch even if the weather takes a turn for the worst. Thanks again and tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hey DirtBikeWarrior thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this halibut action! Thanks for the kind words! Haha yes indeed - sometimes during a fish battle you have to improvise and deal with less than ideal scenarios. I find that the only constant with halibut fishing is that unexpected things WILL happen so staying cool/calm/collected regardless of the situation tends to yield more fish in the boat. Thanks again and happy new year my friend! Captain Zac
Hi Mike thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this halibut action and the rest of my videos! Good luck on your trip this July - tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hi Jason many thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this halibut action! I appreciate the positive comment - tight lines in 2023 my friend! Captain Zac

@@CaptainZacthanks again for the recommendation on that 6’ heavy Penn Carnage III rod! Just got it delivered yesterday. Unbelievable to see the bend those big fish can put on your rigs!
Hi shotgunaaron thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed this halibut action! Haha yes indeed halibut are super tasty! Hard to beat smoked salmon around the holidays! Happy New Year and tight lines in 2023 my friend! Captain Zac
Hi Micky thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this halibut battle! Haha yes indeed - at first I was excited about having a big fish on and then that quickly turned intense when Mary's drag was locked up! Somehow she always finds a way to boat a big halibut - again and again each season! Thanks again and tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hi Jimmie thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this halibut action! Good question - yelloweye are actually really delicious to eat however you aren't currently allowed to keep them in Southeast Alaska. You can still keep them in other parts of Alaska. The reason the restriction is in place is that these fish grow very slowly - some of the big yelloweye are 50 or even 100 years old! Thanks again and tight lines! Captain Zac
Hey, capt. I'm looking at fishing in Juana. I recently lost my wife and em planning a trip to Alaska for fishing with our daughter. Do you take people out fishing? If you do, I would like to go fishing with you , your wife, and my daughter. Is this a possibility?
Hi Timothy I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. I'm not currently chartering since I have a full time job alongside the Alaskan adventure. If you do come to Juneau, please let me know and we can try to align schedules. Feel free to drop me an email - CaptainZacAlaska@gmail.com . I hope a fishing trip to Alaska will help you and your daughter find some inspiration and adjust to the "new normal." Deepest sympathies - Captain Zac
Awesome 👍👍
Hi Bill & Mikes Angling Adventures many thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this halibut fishing action! Tight lines! Captain Zac
I never had much luck on a rainy day fishing. Now hunting is a different story.
Here in Alaska it is more about the tides than the rain. Agree I've had some great days in the woods in the rain as well! Tight lines! Captain Zac
Capt. Mary outfished Capt. Zac. Good job Mary.

When that Mary puts the hook to em they know they've been hooked. I think her little feet come up off the deck a half a foot.
Haha yes indeed she has some pretty fantastic yanks! Tight lines! Captain Zac
I love all your videos! Had me wondering there for a moment if that big Halibut was going to pull Mary right out of the boat!
