I don't think we'll ever tire of seeing the magnificent places you take us to Gregor, and sharing your wonder and joy, which is pretty rare amongst folks of your age these days. Looking forward to the next one.
I love watching your videos of the mountains the beautiful scenery it looks so magical there. I always wanted to go to Scotland. Keep up the great work. I'm a huge fan. From the USA, Phoenix, Arizona
Hi Gregor a bothy is never full. If they are real outdoors folk they will always make space for another person. You should try Charr bothy, that the one I look after with another guy.
A Bothy is for everyone, you can’t claim one just because someone got there first it’s not theirs to decide who uses it, also it is for people not equipment.
I’m never tired of seeing your adventures you take me to all the places I can’t go to. I still watch all your old adventures never get tired of watching 👀 them. 👍 looking forward to seeing your next adventure ❄️❄️🥾🥾😁 peace
Driving hubby nuts after every one of your episodes because I keep adding a "must see" to our trip list 🤣 As an Aussie I love what you say, but even more so I just love hearing you say it, with your accent ❤ Keep up your great work G, the world is watching xxxxx
2 people? Hard to tell the size of the bothy from where you filmed, but certainly looked big enough for quite a few people. We didn’t see your interaction with them ,but I can only assume they were not very friendly. Probably better to spend time alone than with folk like that. Were they outdoors people? Or instaprats? Great video
I've stayed in it. Three people would fit in. 4 at a real squeeze. I bet those two were planning to sleep in their tent so thery should have moved their gear into the tent. I got there first and shared it with my dog and another guy who arrived later. A couple who arrived afterwards chose to camp a coupleof hundred yards away.
They should have made room for you in the bothy, they are made to shelter people not equipment. How selfish. I'm quite brazen and would have pitched up in there lol but you are much nicer than me Gregor. How beautiful is Scotland! Hope i get to visit some day. Thank you for taking us with you 🙂
Pure tranquility!! The beautiful views of stunning mountains, clear smooth waters with Swans, stone bridge and the running waters!! Always the Best captures. Bothy maybe another time, views are just fantastic!! Look forward to your next adventure, stay safe and well!!
My son and I recently visited & drove around Scotland. As Australians, we were both just astounded at the beauty of the lochs & mountains of your stunning country. And yes we actually found it to be warmer than we expected too, apart from the Cairngorm’s. Watching your vids takes me back to our magical trip. If I was 30 years younger I’d be trekking the same paths & I especially wanted to visit Luibeilt Lodge as I've heard about its ghostly notoriety. But I can live my dreams vicariously through your channel 😂 Love your adventures ❤
I love how you always appreciate the scenery and views you experience. I really feel for you not being able to get into the bothy but once again, your camping spot was just lovely. Another enjoyable adventure. Thank you Gregor.
Cracking scenery, those colours are gorgeous, especially around the loch with mountains in the background. Great vlog, nice restful commentary just right for such a beautiful landscape. Cheers Simon (new sub').
I was told, years ago, that the bothy rule is that there is always room for one more. My friend and I turned up at one bothy to find it had been taken over by a group of Sea cadets and their leader told us there wasn't any room. We didn't want an argument so we camped but he could have been more diplomatic than flat out telling us we couldn't use it.
@@pamelaadam9207 yeah, however if that was the case then they should have made provisions for alternative accommodation or tents etc. What would they have done if they had got to the bothy and there were already a few folk there? If you’re taking a group of kids away you have to be 100% sure of the environment you’re taking them to. Bothies are not a Poundland outdoor centre or Air BnB, they are for everyone and are a vital refuge due to the extremes of weather that we sometimes get on the hills. The whole ethos of bothy-ing is of community and there always being room for a fellow hill user.
Wonderful video yet again mate. Unluck you didnt get the luxury of the bothy ahaha again but your spot was still amazing! Also love the fact that you dont add unnecessary background music a lot and keep it natural. Keep going!
Let the bothy go Gregor😂 you found a great place to pitch tent. I don't think we will ever get tired of wow, incredible or awesome as it describes perfectly the scenes your filming 👍
Not casting aspersions on the folk in this video, however with the rise in awareness through social media, bothies are increasingly being used as an end destination for a night away by “wild campers” as opposed to a refuge or stopover for folk on the hills. I’ve had similar experiences with groups thinking that they have exclusive use of the facilities to have a romantic getaway or a party with their pals. As said this may not have been the case with this couple, however any walker / hill user worth their salt would always have offered to make room for a fellow traveler. 👍🏻
Nice one Big G, another cracking video mate 👍 They lochs must be full of wee brownies, would love to do some fishing. I once drove over to Torridon up the wee single track road in heavy mist, it got a bit scary at times!
I don’t know if it’s the same in Scotland but in England they’re classed as emergency shelters as in they’re for emergencies only not fill with all your hiking gear and treat as a doss house for the night and it’s never been a case of I got here first so it’s mine. It really is move on or make friends when someone turns up. You can not turn someone away from a survival shelter that you don’t even own.
No, that's not true. With some exceptions the bothies in England, Wales and here in Scotland are not 'for emergencies only'. The general etiquette is to make room for later arrivals.
@ Completely depends on the owner of the property but they’ve never been a free bnb they’ve always been temporary survival shelters as somewhere to wait out a storm or survive the night not a long weekend in the countryside which most of instagram thinks they are for.
@@TheNotoriousMIC I was making the distinction between general bothies and emergency shelters (eg. Fords of Avon or Foil Grach). Most of the MBA bothies are certainly not for emergencies only.
@ there’s no difference most of them are hunting lodges you’re allowed to use out of season. They’re all emergency shelters they’re not for your holidays though people have been using them for that historically but with social media and UA-cam blowing these spots up those days are probably over. I’m not saying you shouldn’t use them for a cheeky wild camp I was just pointing out the fact they’re not a cheap holiday home you get to reserve for yourself if you get there first. They’re survival shelters that anyone can use and it really is the case of make friends or move on if someone else turns up. You can’t turn someone away because you got there first especially when you shouldn’t really be there in the first place as it’s not an emergency.
We stayed a night at the teahouse bothy in May while bikepacking the HT550. Had it to ourselves although a guy from Belgium pitched outside. Great spot. 🙂
Maybe you could pack hot chocolate or apple cider so you have a treat. Help pick up your spirits when the Bothy's are full. Spectacular views. 🍁🍂 Please move the camera slower or pause to enjoy the scenery, a bit dizzying.🥴
Torridon is magnificent. Even the name inspires thoughts of the mountains. Your bad luck with bothies know bounds mate. Keep trying though, one of these days....😁

Hi Gregor, no way, it’s almost as though these people know you are coming and they’re doing it on purpose now! 😡 Another belting video mate, in another stunning location. All the best mate, enjoy your weekend. 😀⛰🥾🏴🏴
This is the second time I have seen people hogging bothies. I would have personally asked them to move their stuff, it is a free place for everyone to use you can't just "claim" it for yourself. I see it so much on buses, trains and loads of other places where people hog seats, or put bags on them, it's so selfish.
Wise move visiting this area at this time of year. As Mr Midge would drive you mad and you would run for your life during warmer months. A pity about the Bothy visit. Some people are so selfish.😨🤡👍
“Stolen”? Not really, you seem just to have been too shy, or perhaps intimidated, to ask them to make room as they are meant to. Their gear can sit outside, they should make room for you! They were probably being cheeky, banking on others being put off by their having taken over the whole place, and were just hoping you wouldn’t disturb them. Obviously it worked, because at least one of you is well-mannered and considerate. Great video though.
Nobody's sick of your sharing of how much you appreciate the natural world, Gregor - so put that thought out of your head right now! I think you're going to have to aim to camp and consider it a bonus if you get into any of these bothies, as aiming the other way around is disappointing for you. That said, you're incredibly good at making the most of what you do end up with, and not dwelling on that apparent lack of luck. As I've said before, it can be awkward if it turns out you're odd man out anyway; especially if it's a 3- or 5-person job and there's two or three there together... I'm afraid they're just too well-known - it's the down-side of the many folks doing just as you are and sharing it on the likes of UA-cam - but it's also progress; and who can stand in the way of that? The same happened with the youth hostels: by the late 1970s, the best ones were those in rather odd places well off the beaten track - most of which are now long gone and forgotten by all except those who stayed in them - in favour of the big cities and tourist traps - and somehow, they're just not what they set out to be at all! What did happen with some of the old ones is, they became bothies!! Maybe try those around and/or just over the English border in the winter months...🐻

where are the birds ?
