@@yatharthvats4902 Tomb Kings traded in lore of vampires for range and mediocre lores of magic :/ Their faction is one of my favorites, but lore of fire just destroys them. Maybe that's why TK is sometimes considered a counter to Skaven - the rats don't get lore of fire.
Its not the spell, it's the unit sizes, they all have lower HP, because the rules are set for large unit sizes not ultra, and that's why every spell seems so devastating, Burning Head is fine, when playing on ultra, I never feel like it really does much. But yeah I agree, it is getting boring to see the same stuff all the time.
Best cuisine would be high elves, Turin! High elves can be physically repelled by non-artistic or poorly made food, their senses are so sensitive in some ways. It's why they fall to Slaanesh a lot.

with game 3 we are going to have 6 new base factions, 1 chaos undivided(which i count it as a separate faction than warriors of chaos) and 1 pre order faction. adding that to 15 races that we have now, there will be about 506 different Mach ups. (not counting mirror matches)

Yo Hadres' micro in that battle against Brettonia/Alrik was absolutely lit. Every single time Brettonia maneuvered Hadres' infantry were right there to head them off. Incredible defensive play!

problem is that imho GS units are pretty balanced on their own, they just have a loot of versatility and are strong in many/almost all areas so that is kinf of hard to balance

Also I got a lot of questions about the soulstealer at 3:11:10. I used it because regardless of whether it hits things, morathi will still get her heals. She had just been targeted by another GS sniping spell so i wanted to ensure she stayed alive. It wasnt a misclick, but the snipe spell didnt land properly so it looks like it was unncessary in the end.
Does soulstealer heal the same about regardless of how many units it hits? I always thought that it healed based on how much damage you were able to do with it. Great job in the tourney btw! I think that's the furthest the DE have ever gotten.
The general issue is that Tomb Kings infantry has low armor and high model counts. Grave Guard have the same hp and model count, but with 40 extra armor and access to invocation of Nehek/mortis engine healing. Saurus Warriors are around the same tier, but with lower model counts/higher hp per model and better leadership, by comparison, they don't get completely destroyed by the spell. They also have access to lore of life. Tomb Kings *do* get the realm of souls, but it heals about as much as an earthblood each time and requires the death of a large part of your army before it becomes active. It almost certainly doesn't offset the healing from the vampire counts, let alone the damage mitigation of their extra armor.
@@SpiceCh Grave Guard also have thick weapon strength so while they’ve got weak combat stats they can still trade effectively against most infantry. Tomb Kings Skeletons just fall over, and Tomb Guard are just not worth the price.

The primary issue with Tomb Kings is that all of their infantry gets pretty much one-shot by Burning Head with no real way of mitigating the damage outside of having lightning reflexes, since 28 speed makes it nearly impossible to dodge.
I really felt the pain of IcePower during the last game. Whatever you do GS just outvalue you. Best sniping with snare, slows, spirit leech, and vindictive cancer spam -check. Best Skirmish cavalry, best cavalry archers - check Best regenerating super durable mass to block charges and to butcher everything -check Best frontline, with superefficient lawnmowers and unbreakable fanatics with poison -check Best faction wide buff -check Dark Elves never had a chance when facing an opponent of equal skill. You never have an advantage, they just spam skirmish cavalry and dominate the mobile game so that you can never chase the routing units and that pretty much nullifies the only disadvantage of GS, their, lower than standard, leadership. Hope that next faction war we are gonna see some other faction winning not the standard GS/VCoast/Skaven trio...

i honestly felt that he just had enough of the crap spell mechanics.i mean if you slip for one second that enemy can deal 4k damage in 15sec.losing your hero will in most cases cost you a game .DOES NOT MATTER if you have any kind of army left or not, just check the balance bar in final game 1. this should be about the contest of armies and not about dodging vindictive glares from double casters all game long..
If you look carefully, his whole front line had routed and his missile units had been engaged in melee because he had accidentally moved them to just behind his front line. This was about what happened to his army. Sometimes the player can see quicker than the caster because he has a better overview and all the unit icons. It was a bit early, but he was at a big disadvantage.
@@roberthorvath9371 the vast majority of the damage came from archers, not vindictive glare. If you watch the video, the glares only do a few hundred damage each. And the glares in early game were targeting manticores, not morathi. It was simply an overextension to get in range of effagee and the archers at the same time.
Yeah see satsuma understands. 5/95 matchup against a better player, I waste all my winds of magic, manticore lord is half hp, darkshards are sent into melee cos I'm stupid. Was never gonna be a win after that cos he'd had 10000 more casts to snipe my terror. I know it was already lost so there was no point wasting everyone's time.

Palestine vs Hadres was such a shame, but entirely accurate to Skaven! The mortar team pummelled into the backs of the Skaven slaves without hitting the ungors and it let the Beastmen into the cookie jar so much faster than it should have.

It's baffling how the most oppressive aspect of greenskins play is their skirmish cavalry. It is ridiculous that they can out-skirmish an army that has fully committed to skirmish. They really do not get properly taxed for having smaller hitboxes and more armor than any other skirmish cavalry in the game.
Funnily enough, Greenskin skirmish cav used to be cheaper/stronger than it is right now. For several years, until it took a nerf quite recently. And it was never an issue, and it wasn't even that popular. Because it doesn't actually win games on its own. What it does mostly is provide fast mass and insurance against your opponent kiting you. GS foot archers are unable to provide that kite insurance due to their low range, and GS cav are too specialist to provide mass efficiently.
Awesome tournament format, thanks! It's a little sad to see the unbalancing of the factions that was always present on the tabletop creep into the total war version of warhammer. Everytime a new Army Book was released the balance for that faction would be thrown off, usually to make it much better than before to help sell the book and the new models. I wish ca made more of an effort toactually balance the factions as well as possible, as well as buffing and nerfing the various options for each army as needed. So right now we have OP greenskins because the last DLC for them added some ridiculously good things. In addition to the fact that their skirmishers and archers are just way too good. In the lore, greenskin dakka is supposed to be super inaccurate except for the guided missiles of the doom diver. And okay yes goblins are supposed to have better aim but they can't draw anything stronger than a tiny shortbow so they should have low damage and almost no AP.
To be fair, goblins already have pretty short range and low AP. I think it has more to do with how ranged damage is applied. Always one damage more arrow and they just bring so many.
Lol. Nameless played my exact Vampire build vs Dwarfs. Down to the unit. Maybe a coincidence but i dont think so. Either way he made some huuge mistakes in the game. Moreover he forgot to bring pans pelt which is one of the reasons you bring the necrarch in the first place. You want to stack it with dark protection and get up to 69% resistance against Dwarfen missiles.
What I usually do when I'm working is set up a message replier to phone calls and then set my phone to vibrate only. that way when somebody calls me when I'm busy I can just tap my phone to send them an automated reply, convenient feature. What about the games and the casting? well I'm new to warhammer so there are many unit names and spells that I hardly recognize but man oh man how entertaining it is to see a medieval epic fantasy chess of iron, blood, magic, and orc heads flying around.

Btw Turin, have you considered running some of these as no Legendary Lords tournaments? I feel this might shake things up and make for a very interesting tournament or two.
@@ViciousSatsuma Well of course each unit has pros and cons, when you weigh lions vs your other high mobility options though, thats the cheapest one that cant get fear routed and it has armor piercing to boot, and beats their low tier high mobility chaff in a 1 on 1 so it's harder for them to screen for it

It'll likely get one in the new game coming this year. ATM no, though, the competitive scene is mostly community run. It's def alive though, most people just play singleplayer. 42k average playing on Steam charts.
As if a 10% speed nerf through wounds to someone like Grimgor or the Dwarf Lords isn't a huge nerf. I think it is for sure. Depends on the base speed of the single entity. You can't generalize that and say its no biggie.Combine that wound ability with a faction that has strong missile play and those missile units are hybrid units who are decent or even strong in melee as well and you have a potentially op combination right there, which would mean they'd need to be more expensive or lower in number. They also have fast and hard hitting cav which on strongly to the already good combination as well. But i guess especially at the start the new and shiny faction will dominate the old ones anyway.
after the last game, when one of the players droped out after 3 minutes... i really would love to hear from the players what they where thinking. after every football game you have players answerings questions. why wouldnt you do that here?
When I conceded the battle result was decided. It's a 5/95 matchup and my shards were compromised, lord was half hp, frontline was crushed. It was over. I've trained this a lot, I know when it wasnt worth playing. If you just want to watch the spectacle of the graphics, just watch campaign battles, no?
@@Skulleagleable I wasn't the one bringing a skirmish build. I offered a front line engagement every single game and indeed pushed for a front line engagement in most games. The skirmish cav is just something you need in most matchups to counter your opponent's potential skirmish options. As you could see in game 1 of the finals, without skirmish cav I would have nothing to deal with that. Game 2 of the finals I won with frontline while my skirmish cav had been totally zoned out.
@@ViciousSatsuma I get you're trying to win. I just personally don't find the games entertaining as a spectator since they're more or less the same. The wood elves were interesting with completely different builds each game or Felkon bringing rarely used units as High Elves. Greenskins bring the same things game after game when they could surely get away with more meme units/unconventional playstyles considering how OP they are.
@@Skulleagleable I deliberately didn't take their strongest lord all tournament. I took artillery. I took foot archers, not just skirmish cav. I took a lot of different inf options. I took trolls in some matches but not others. I took a giant spider. I'm deliberately not taking the same stuff each game (with exception of final game because I didn't have a different non-grom build saved and didn't want to keep people waiting). I'm not sure what you're looking for, it's fine if you don't like GS, but I made a very conscious effort to switch it up.
Bretonia was a free DLC faction in game 1. You can play them in game 2 either: if you own the first game with the original bretonia free dlc on the mortal empires combined map in game 2 or if you install the free Dlc for game 2 that adds the Legendary Lord Repanse as a free lord in game 2 directly. Was that what you meant?

Gets kind of old to just see GS win almost every game because they can max out on cheap poison skirmish cav and drag down anything fun or worth value in the game. Not to even say anything of how strong their front line is. Like how in the world did we get to a point where greenskins are one of the best front line AND probably the best skirmish faction because clearly some drunken goblins on spiders can outshoot ancient well trained wood elves?
God, I hate the Greenskins so damn much holy balls. Tbh the VCoast gunner / bomber meta were more exciting than this one where Greenskins just krumps everyone.
@@MisterFoxton I wouldn't say irrelevance, that phrase would fit BM the best, although you got a point. They certainly used to be weaker, they just had actual weaknesses to be exploited, since you know, it was pretty feasible to kill their lords and work with terror routs and what not. Yeah, I'd say VCoast are still pretty strong, but I dont recall any faction ever has been as broken as the Greenskins are now, except perhaps Skaven pre-nerf Warplock Jezzails and mortars.
@@Goony1246 Coast upon release was far worse. Chaos at the end of Warhammer 1. TK on release. WE right after their DLC dropped... there's plenty of examples. Satsuma won because he was the best player in the bracket, not because of his faction.

Greenskins atm are overtly OP compared to the other factions and it's plain to see for everyone. Besides, it doesn't matter whether or not other factions were more OP at any given time. What matters is, at the current state of the game the Greenskins are simply outperforming other factions by a rather large margin in the current meta.
@@Goony1246 they didn't even have the highest winrate in the WWC. Sure they're very good, but they aren't out of line with other factions. Yes, they could do with some minor nerfs, but the obsession with GS at the moment is absurd when WE and LZM are so strong as well.
Factor in that Slaanesh's Harvesters (RoR Doomfire Warlocks) have a bound Soul Stealer that is much weaker than the true version. Also, it's kinda like Fey Enchantress conundrum cuz it's THE spell that holds the entire already struggling faction afloat. Nerf it and DE are unplayable in 60+% of match-ups...

Satsuma didn't blob as voidlolz did in the ECL Q, so it was a useless spell. Not to mention I'm spending 2313 gold on a caster lord who isn't great in combat just for those spell casts. Start looking at the bigger picture and you'll realise it's not unbalanced at all.
Icepower was so f-in boring. Every single game the same build and the same tricks. Thankfully the other players brought interesting and varied builds. It was a nice tournament.

Beastmen in multi-player actually aren't terrible, but the campaign experience isn't great.

i honestly felt that he just had enough of the crap spell mechanics.i mean if you slip for one second that enemy can deal 4k damage in 15sec.losing your hero will in most cases cost you a game .DOES NOT MATTER if you have any kind of army left or not, just check the balance bar in final game 1. this should be about the contest of armies and not about dodging vindictive glares from double casters all game long..
If you look carefully, his whole front line had routed and his missile units had been engaged in melee because he had accidentally moved them to just behind his front line. This was about what happened to his army. Sometimes the player can see quicker than the caster because he has a better overview and all the unit icons. It was a bit early, but he was at a big disadvantage.
@@roberthorvath9371 the vast majority of the damage came from archers, not vindictive glare. If you watch the video, the glares only do a few hundred damage each. And the glares in early game were targeting manticores, not morathi. It was simply an overextension to get in range of effagee and the archers at the same time.
Yeah see satsuma understands. 5/95 matchup against a better player, I waste all my winds of magic, manticore lord is half hp, darkshards are sent into melee cos I'm stupid. Was never gonna be a win after that cos he'd had 10000 more casts to snipe my terror. I know it was already lost so there was no point wasting everyone's time.

Palestine vs Hadres was such a shame, but entirely accurate to Skaven! The mortar team pummelled into the backs of the Skaven slaves without hitting the ungors and it let the Beastmen into the cookie jar so much faster than it should have.

Spider riders really need a cost increase and possibly some other nerfs. I think they’re even more of problem than grom
It's baffling how the most oppressive aspect of greenskins play is their skirmish cavalry. It is ridiculous that they can out-skirmish an army that has fully committed to skirmish. They really do not get properly taxed for having smaller hitboxes and more armor than any other skirmish cavalry in the game.
Funnily enough, Greenskin skirmish cav used to be cheaper/stronger than it is right now. For several years, until it took a nerf quite recently. And it was never an issue, and it wasn't even that popular. Because it doesn't actually win games on its own. What it does mostly is provide fast mass and insurance against your opponent kiting you. GS foot archers are unable to provide that kite insurance due to their low range, and GS cav are too specialist to provide mass efficiently.

It's a little sad to see the unbalancing of the factions that was always present on the tabletop creep into the total war version of warhammer. Everytime a new Army Book was released the balance for that faction would be thrown off, usually to make it much better than before to help sell the book and the new models. I wish ca made more of an effort toactually balance the factions as well as possible, as well as buffing and nerfing the various options for each army as needed.
So right now we have OP greenskins because the last DLC for them added some ridiculously good things.
In addition to the fact that their skirmishers and archers are just way too good. In the lore, greenskin dakka is supposed to be super inaccurate except for the guided missiles of the doom diver. And okay yes goblins are supposed to have better aim but they can't draw anything stronger than a tiny shortbow so they should have low damage and almost no AP.
Or super short range
To be fair, goblins already have pretty short range and low AP. I think it has more to do with how ranged damage is applied. Always one damage more arrow and they just bring so many.

Lol. Nameless played my exact Vampire build vs Dwarfs. Down to the unit. Maybe a coincidence but i dont think so. Either way he made some huuge mistakes in the game. Moreover he forgot to bring pans pelt which is one of the reasons you bring the necrarch in the first place. You want to stack it with dark protection and get up to 69% resistance against Dwarfen missiles.
What I usually do when I'm working is set up a message replier to phone calls and then set my phone to vibrate only. that way when somebody calls me when I'm busy I can just tap my phone to send them an automated reply, convenient feature. What about the games and the casting? well I'm new to warhammer so there are many unit names and spells that I hardly recognize but man oh man how entertaining it is to see a medieval epic fantasy chess of iron, blood, magic, and orc heads flying around.
i would also love to try dwarnen food. the closest i've been was in rural germany: golden potatoes and meat with brown sauce

Hey, great video! One amateur question: I notice that these armies don't use as many monsters as I usually see in armies -- is that some high level strategy?
Btw Turin, have you considered running some of these as no Legendary Lords tournaments? I feel this might shake things up and make for a very interesting tournament or two.
I really hate where greenskins meta is right now, the same thing every time, mass skirmish cavalry and stone trolls.
Have you considered changing the unit banners so you can see each unit's status without having to hover over them?

Warlions are good vs undead because theyre immune to fear so they dont break as easy as alot of your other troops would :^)
On the other hand, all the units they are fighting are immune to the fear they cause.
@@ViciousSatsuma Well of course each unit has pros and cons, when you weigh lions vs your other high mobility options though, thats the cheapest one that cant get fear routed and it has armor piercing to boot, and beats their low tier high mobility chaff in a 1 on 1 so it's harder for them to screen for it

Grombrindal just threw the moment he saw the Greenskin army. Grombrindals army was a chariot killer. It had no chance against a greenskin ranged army. These weren't mistakes. This was an instant gg by grombrindal
If it were an instant GG, he would have conceded earlier, not run around with his lord for a couple of minutes after he hit army losses!
bretonnia was too ambitious, he brought too many micro intensive units and didn't have the crazy skills needed for all that micro.

It'll likely get one in the new game coming this year. ATM no, though, the competitive scene is mostly community run. It's def alive though, most people just play singleplayer. 42k average playing on Steam charts.

As if a 10% speed nerf through wounds to someone like Grimgor or the Dwarf Lords isn't a huge nerf. I think it is for sure. Depends on the base speed of the single entity. You can't generalize that and say its no biggie.Combine that wound ability with a faction that has strong missile play and those missile units are hybrid units who are decent or even strong in melee as well and you have a potentially op combination right there, which would mean they'd need to be more expensive or lower in number. They also have fast and hard hitting cav which on strongly to the already good combination as well. But i guess especially at the start the new and shiny faction will dominate the old ones anyway.

Poor sportsmanship by IcePowerTW there. Disservice to the fans and to the people who take the time to host and cast these tournaments.
When I conceded the battle result was decided. It's a 5/95 matchup and my shards were compromised, lord was half hp, frontline was crushed. It was over. I've trained this a lot, I know when it wasnt worth playing. If you just want to watch the spectacle of the graphics, just watch campaign battles, no?
It was a service. It spared us all from having to watch Satsuma's boring skirmisher build game after game after game
@@Skulleagleable I wasn't the one bringing a skirmish build. I offered a front line engagement every single game and indeed pushed for a front line engagement in most games. The skirmish cav is just something you need in most matchups to counter your opponent's potential skirmish options. As you could see in game 1 of the finals, without skirmish cav I would have nothing to deal with that. Game 2 of the finals I won with frontline while my skirmish cav had been totally zoned out.

The wood elves were interesting with completely different builds each game or Felkon bringing rarely used units as High Elves. Greenskins bring the same things game after game when they could surely get away with more meme units/unconventional playstyles considering how OP they are.
@@Skulleagleable I deliberately didn't take their strongest lord all tournament. I took artillery. I took foot archers, not just skirmish cav. I took a lot of different inf options. I took trolls in some matches but not others. I took a giant spider. I'm deliberately not taking the same stuff each game (with exception of final game because I didn't have a different non-grom build saved and didn't want to keep people waiting). I'm not sure what you're looking for, it's fine if you don't like GS, but I made a very conscious effort to switch it up.

Hi, im new in this game , why bretonian dont have legendary units in campaign?
Bretonia was a free DLC faction in game 1.
You can play them in game 2 either:
if you own the first game with the original bretonia free dlc on the mortal empires combined map in game 2
or
if you install the free Dlc for game 2 that adds the Legendary Lord Repanse as a free lord in game 2 directly.

Greenskins pretty much rolling over any other faction in multiplayer.
Gets kind of old to just see GS win almost every game because they can max out on cheap poison skirmish cav and drag down anything fun or worth value in the game. Not to even say anything of how strong their front line is. Like how in the world did we get to a point where greenskins are one of the best front line AND probably the best skirmish faction because clearly some drunken goblins on spiders can outshoot ancient well trained wood elves?
God, I hate the Greenskins so damn much holy balls.
Tbh the VCoast gunner / bomber meta were more exciting than this one where Greenskins just krumps everyone.
GS at least had to endure years of irrelevance. Coast hasn't dropped out of meta discussions since release.
@@MisterFoxton I wouldn't say irrelevance, that phrase would fit BM the best, although you got a point. They certainly used to be weaker, they just had actual weaknesses to be exploited, since you know, it was pretty feasible to kill their lords and work with terror routs and what not.
Yeah, I'd say VCoast are still pretty strong, but I dont recall any faction ever has been as broken as the Greenskins are now, except perhaps Skaven pre-nerf Warplock Jezzails and mortars.
@@Goony1246 Coast upon release was far worse. Chaos at the end of Warhammer 1. TK on release. WE right after their DLC dropped... there's plenty of examples. Satsuma won because he was the best player in the bracket, not because of his faction.

Greenskins atm are overtly OP compared to the other factions and it's plain to see for everyone.
Besides, it doesn't matter whether or not other factions were more OP at any given time. What matters is, at the current state of the game the Greenskins are simply outperforming other factions by a rather large margin in the current meta.
@@Goony1246 they didn't even have the highest winrate in the WWC. Sure they're very good, but they aren't out of line with other factions. Yes, they could do with some minor nerfs, but the obsession with GS at the moment is absurd when WE and LZM are so strong as well.
Soul stealer can be cast way too many times per game
Factor in that Slaanesh's Harvesters (RoR Doomfire Warlocks) have a bound Soul Stealer that is much weaker than the true version. Also, it's kinda like Fey Enchantress conundrum cuz it's THE spell that holds the entire already struggling faction afloat. Nerf it and DE are unplayable in 60+% of match-ups...
@@viktorvh5511 it is just such a lazy way to do it tho. This huge AOE spell that just fucks over huge awesome pit fights is the only thing that makes your faction playable. The fey can atleast be gooned out or some missile play or something, but the soul stealer is just cheap
Greenskins are in this game and here you are complaining about soulstealer? Just don't blob lol. Note the first games of the finals. Satsuma didn't blob as voidlolz did in the ECL Q, so it was a useless spell. Not to mention I'm spending 2313 gold on a caster lord who isn't great in combat just for those spell casts. Start looking at the bigger picture and you'll realise it's not unbalanced at all.
Icepower was so f-in boring. Every single game the same build and the same tricks. Thankfully the other players brought interesting and varied builds. It was a nice tournament.
