CRUSHING Leaf Cleanups Once And For ALL! ► (CUSTOM LEAF BOX BUILD)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 лют 2025
- Today we're building out a custom leaf box for the F-250 so we can haul away more leaves and eliminate a huge bottleneck in our business. Leaf cleanups are fun when you have the right setup, and today our setup goes to the next level.
We got the 18hp BillyGoat debris loader in last week, and the day after our live event I made a leaf box to marry up to the new debris loader. I think leaf cleanups are going to be 10X more enjoyable now that we have this incredible setup, which has been a dream come true for our rig!
Let me know if you guys would like to see a follow up video and more info on the debris loader in action and how Weingartz made the custom mount for the trailer tongue. Enjoy!

Taking the business to the next level! Debris loaders change the leaf game!
We used it twice day, it’s SO awesome!
As long as you learn from your mistakes that’s the big thing brother. Hav confidence in yourself, your doing great and helping others !
Stay focused. God bless you and your family
Mistakes = Learning. I am on my third leaf box build and I am still making mistakes. Keep on killing it Brian.
THE THING HAS AN ELECTRIC START damnnnn that’s lit I want one so bad
So many of you guys said electric start or die lol. So we went electric!

Hey Brian, make you a frame out of 1x2’s the same size as the opening on the top. Then you can wrap the frame with the tarp and even double it, then staple the under side with the tarp stretched on the frame. Then you can screw the frame to the top of the box and the 1x2’s will hole the tarp in place and don’t have to worry about it tearing out of the screws and you’ll have a lot cleaner look.
Nice work bee 🐝 Rob is a gem of a worker. Keep pouring into him.
Looks great guys, very professional!
hell yeah!! good luck gonna do this when i retire. maybe not as big pimp as u all but it will be mine. Get em. your boy seems like a good guy so much luck and may u have many jobs in the future
That's where I want to be in the next few years. Just starting out as a side gig next spring to test the waters with a V-Ride, an echo blower, and an echo trimmer/edger on an 18' open trailer...been watching your videos for a while now, learning and planning.
i take off my extension tube while driving, the turns have knocked it off. i have exact setup that you made.
That is awsome I'm probably a year or 2 from one of those
Yeah we’ve removed ours between driving all day today, good call
Great job Brian box looks good.

😂😂😂
Brian, & Foreman Rob, great job!! Everything came together,& looking forward to seeing it all in action. Good luck!💯❤️👍🏾😀✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
Hey Brian its Rocco from R &J landscaping here in Connecticut do your self a favor and bolt and lock nut the door believe me I know from experience that will be falling off and you end up looking like a clown so trying to save you the headache I've done it so you live and learn thanks your friend Rocco from Connecticut always enjoy your channel.
Good call!
1/4" bolts and fender washers and poly lock nuts on all those hinge bolts.
Amazing work my friend!
If you aren’t making mistakes you aren’t trying hard enough! Awesome set up!
Amazing! Your business is already next level, but this is going to push you so much further over the edge. I believe the effeciency of this will be a game changer for you
Looking good Cuzzy!! Hope you guys kill it. But, I already know you guys will!! Rob seems very respectful & willing to learn. I think with relying on each other both of you will go far. Him in learning, & you in having the ability to grow the business while he runs it!! Hoping all is well guys, Dirty Jersey out!! #broinlawns!!
Awesome! Cant wait to see it in action. Also if theirs any way to get in the box, do it!!! Since compacting leafs is key!! to doing less trips to the dump.
Sweet man. Definitely going to get that set up in the future. That’s going to help with leaves tremendously.
Looks sick. I definitely agree with other people about bolting the hinges. Those screws will basically fall out over time.
Hurry up and find some leaves to suck up Brian! I wanna see this thang work!!!
Fantastic! Can't wait to see it in action.
Very well done. You two make a great team.
great tip, take the tube off from the loader to the leaf box, just leave it in your trailer and when you pull up to the job just throw it on the loader to the box and you don’t even need to clamp it down
10:08 sounding like Keith Kalfas 😂. Just make sure that mesh vents enough, if there's too much back pressure the engine will run at high rpm and could burn up faster than normal use. Loving the setup 👍🏼
Looking good Brian. A couple things I would do, just my opinion. Put a couple hooks or rings that you can screw into the wood on the door and the side and hook up some bungees. Definitely get hose clamps on that outfeed hose. Keep an impact gun handy if you can and pop that hose off when you hook up to the trailer, tough to thread that hose in when backing up to the trailer.
Great tips ty!
Love that you made the move man. Good luck!
The guy who works with you seems like a good guy too
Sweet setup.. I'm a little jealous... Couple of things maybe for thought... Use a piano hinge on back door instead, if mesh tarp doesn't work out make roof of solid plywood and "swiss cheese" top with 1/4 drill bit. Keep up the good work.
Not a bad idea but, I think the solid piece helps keep the dust down
10:10 is like Keith Kalfas!!!!!
I have built a lot of boxes, add another 2x4x8 along the top for door. And 4 hinges. Cut bigger hole back door, go but quality rubber truck mud flaps, don't go cheap.
Cover your hole with matt, cut an x into rubber where hole is. It won't leak leaves then, even when driving down the rd to dump.. where do you dump.
We do the rubber matt on both sides of door.
Congrats on the new set up 👌 keep it going
“I guess I need a bigger hole” That’s what she said!!!
🤣😱
Probably would have been better to bolt the hinges on bud. Over time the screws will twist and loosen up.
That rig looks professionally done!! Looks like you bought it and just bolted it on👍
Congratulations man this looks awesome
Great job guys!!!
Great video, on the tail gate that you have built you have 2 X 4 on bottom now place on 2 sides and top to reinforce tail gate.
Nice handiwork brian!
As usual, I enjoy your input and video.

Hi Brian
Thank you for responding.
I would greatly appreciate it if you do.
Looks awesome!! I think when our canvas cover needs to be replaced I’ll do something like that...... to be honest, I don’t think it matters where you vent that thing... your trucks gonna be covered in dust no matter what. Also.... you guys are brave to paint that on the truck without covering the sides!!!!
Great video I love the debri loader
Congrats, big moves for the business!
Nice set up
Great video Brian!
Just some info, prime and oil paint all sides of plywood and 2x4s, use carriage bolts and wing nuts, try to minimize screws, use a plywood for top and have a 1x3 ft vent . I did this in 2002 and still am using today.
Also figure a canvas or something to cover your vents on truck hood, that dust will build up and clog them good leaving you with no defroster an hour before snow storm!!
Is that a “keith kalfas “ shirt? Btw great set up bro, looks dope 💪🏼💪🏼
Hey brother, on your hinges, try carriage bolts with nuts and you could also add a strip of wood that would spread the weight if the door out more...hope that makes sense....I can draw you up a pic and email if needed...keep rocking man and congrats on the new setup
We’ll see if it doesn’t hold up we definitely will be replacing the hinges and screws ha
Cool set up
Toss a strap over the whole box and connect it to the truck. Extra support for the times you have to dump and go back and forth 5x to get all the leaves out!
Will having the hole up as high as you can in the door , help fill the box more or does it make the box fill uneven ?
Congratulations Brian nice setup I just bought myself a 7 by 14 dump trailer bewhy next thing is the loader would you pay for yours
now ya just need a leaf plow!!
That looks great, can't wait to see it destroying some leaves
Great job fellas
Looks good 👍
If you do have problems with the hinges later on you may want to try to piano hinges so the weight from your door will be distribute equally across
Awesome set up bro. Don’t forget when cutting a gas engine of to throttle it down all the way then kill it. So you don’t continue pumping gas in on top of the piston.
Good call
You’ve inspired me to start a lawn buisness and I own the BR800ce and contemplating getting the echo 8010 or redmax 8550. Which one would u buy
The echo
I got the echo and i love it
Ok. Thanks for the advice
@@derek5463 100% agree
Thanks @Brennan H. Mans a botty friend lol
Great job bro 👍
Great video
looks good! pro tip I used a dinner bowl and traced it on the wood for mine perfect size lol
Truck looks good man you have airbags on that thing
Sir, on your gate door, could you use those shocks like on hatchbacks and camper tops ? Thought that could help lower it down smoother and easier on you and workers.
I am going to be doing the same set up. My question is I don't see how it is secured to the dumper dogg. I am assuming it is secured to the Black Boards in the dumper dogg brackets but I dont see any bolts or screws in the video
Nice 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sweet !
Or you can put a spring to hold the extra tube up sort like what 18 wheelers have to hold air hose
Very nice!!!!
I can't wait to this goat run. I love my small goat. How small will it shred the leaves?
Is it true that the less air flow, the better the leaves mulch up and compact?
Love ours man. You’ll crush it!
I'm eager to see your review videos.
I was debating buying one this fall but by the time I tried to order it they said it would be 3 weeks and in MN we started getting snow in Oct so I decided to wait.
If you think it's well worth the price I will definitely pick it up.
Question box looks about 6 feet tall . How much weight have you put into when full ? Wet and dry thanks
The tarp at the back of the truck should be double layer to help filter the dust when the debris blows into the box. Unsure if staples are strong enough to hold tarp over time. Fabricating wood clamps allows you to change a torn tarp more easily. Better to assume box & components can bend or wear out--and need quick repairs. Make sure your suction hose is long and flexible enough.
We’ll find out!
Instead of floor mats try a semi truck mud flap or dually mud flap. You can get them cheap at a salvage yard or buy them brand new at any truck stop. They would be more durable and last longer than a porch mat
Yeah good call
Brian, I have the same dump insert only it’s the poly version. Any advise on if this is possible on mine?
I mean I couldn't see why not but I haven't done it so I can't weigh in sorry.
THAT'S AWESOME!!!
Hey Brian, do you have a video on how to do 2 properties side by side and what's the pattern to do it. Please let me know. That's going to be a huge help.
We have a whole program about how to mow correctly on Lawntrepreneur Academy 👊
Let’s see it in action
Bigger hinges, and bolts with washers and locknuts for the hinges. No screws on hinges. And just get old mud flaps off tractors or dump trucks for the inside front. Bolt them to the wall
Me personally I think I'd take the discharge hose of during travel from one spot to the other. You could stress or bend the metal on the vacuum discharge itself. Just my thought if I had your setup.
Looks sharp! But I wonder if the Billy Goat is real secure in the storage lot. Any knucklehead jumping the fence would make me cry.
Hey Brian, nice video on building the dump box, l have one question can you lift the box off or do you have to take the box a part??
Just wondering how you built it for removal in spring??
We’d just take it apart yep
Brain what inches do you cut the grass durning the summer and what inch durning the spring
3”
Insulation pipe wrapping for water lines as what I meant to say
okay just some ideas i have built about 2 dozen of these so far.
For the back door use a 4x4 to carry the weight of the door your need to lag it in from the outside and since you used half inch plywood you should set a leg under the 4x4 that goes to the lip of the bed
For the door get 2 or 3 of the big barn door hinges you can lag the mounting side to the 4x4 with lags again and then mark and drill the door and use carriage bolts threads to the inside so you dont hook yourself on the excess.
As an extra if you do this while towing a dump trailer you just need to turn the upper discharge between the 2 boxes ran a setup like that for a few years great way to avoid going to the dump to often.
FYI i work in CT and almost everything goes to the dump including the woods lol
Where in CT?
@@MC-rr3ew stamford ,norwalk
@@mikebutler7237 im in fairfield..
Solid tips thank you!
@@MC-rr3ew so you have seen this as well i did a lot of work in darien, new canaan they get nuts with removing everything
Make sure to hit those screws threads that are sticking out with a flap wheel/disk on an angle grinder. Or add a block of wood. So the threads are buried. It’ll save you from putting your hand on those sharp pieces and getting wrecked
Also when you secure the tarp or floor mats. Use a long piece of wood basically as a giant washer to clamp the tarp in place. This way it’ll have a length of wood to pull against vs a tiny screw head. And it’ll be much harder for it to pull out.
Should have made toward the top so leaves go in and fall down I think you will only fill it to where you made hole or it will clog up if you go pass it
Brian, roughly how many average size yards of leaf debris can you get into your dump insert before dumping?
About 5 cleanups a day is what we average with great weather, and that’ll usually fill it up. It’s honestly a very balanced setup for the work and leaves we suck up for the dump size.
My apoligies Brian. I am looking for capacity...how many yards can you fit into your leaf box before needing to dump it? Sorry I my initial question wasn't more clear. i am considering a similar dump insert and leaf box and want to know how much it will hold before needing to dump?
Nice box Brain. now is time to rake some money$$ and what kind of F15O is your truck?
It’s an F250 🤷♂️
Brian maybe a help for you. Instead of a floor mate get yourself a truck mudd flap. We us them Instead of purchasing another sheet of plywood or always having to replace the floor mates. Hopefully this help you .congratulations and best of luck.
Jimmer
10:08 Keith Kalfas voice 😂
Alex nickels always suggests on his leaf trailer video the smoothest possible for the inside
Hopefully those 2x4’s on the inside don’t become a problem when dumping.
Instead of a fabric for your vent cover have you considered using a fine wire mesh?
I didn’t no sir
Yea buddy
What are the hanging floor mounts in the box for?
To slow down the debris
@@BriansLawnMaintenance thanks. 😺😺😺
