- Road trip adventures are exciting at any time and any age, this is our trip to the stelvio pass in Italy, travelling through France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium.
is the ducati multistrada 1200s , the right machine, do we have to worry about any Italian fragility or reliability.
testing brand new michelin road 5's
Just wow! I mean WOW!!!
👍
Well done. It looked tricky conditions up high.
You have an extra layer of responsibility with a pillion. Great job with the reassurance.
What a great record of the day. That pass is on our must do list
I genuinely thought you had already done it on your picos trip. Its a must to do once.
My only advice is leave it until late July or August because it was under 12" of snow the day before we rode it 😱
Thanks both 👍
How incredibly beautiful!!!!
Such a stunning place 👍
Amazing. Karen did so well, it's bad enough looking at that we road and ice, let alone being pillion! Great job to the pair of you
Thanks bud, it was sketchy at the top but she was an absolute trooper, great experience but don't need to do it again 😁👍
Wow! Look at that.. Oh no, don't look at that.... Classic! Lol.
I've been up and down loads of Cols in France, Italy etc, but I don't think i would have enjoyed them so much if I'd been a passenger! Another cracking video. Have Fun!
Thanks buddy, I'm with you on that, there is no way could I be a pillion or even a passenger in a car on roads like that. She did really well 😁👍
Amazing memories made!!!
👍
Great stuff Phil. Gee it looked slippery on the way down. Fantastic looking road though. Well done mate 👏
Thanks Ian, it was a bit at the top, there were small patches of ice but I didn't tell the Mrs until after we got to the bottom 🤦♂️
Well done both of you. A big bike with full luggage and two up was a great achievement. Slow and steady wins the day. I bottled out some years back when three of us went down to Italy from Austria. We passed Trento and kept going, I had wanted to do it but not as brave as you.
Thanks Mike, but like you said, if you take your time it's achievable, as long as theres no snow 🤣🤣
Tell Karen the Stelvio Pass hasn't got anything on Nurse's Corner and the 'switchbacks' through the middle of Penclawdd ;-) Nice video and well done. Look forward to Pt 5 🙂
🤣🤣 I'll tell her to look out for them the next time we visit family 🤣🤣
@@wsmv 😂😂😂👍
What an incredible road, and you did it!!
👍
Morning Phil another great video
Thanks Graham 👍
Absolutely stunning Phil, and great that you got to do that together. My wife would never do a trip that long on the back, so fair play to Karen👏👏👏👏
Something every biker should try once in their riding lifetime, that Stelvio.
Thanks bud, yes definitely once, and possibly once is enough especially if you're a passenger 🤣🤣
We did have a plan that if the weather was too bad I would ride it the day before without her but it was 12" under snow the day before 🤦♂️ we were lucky it was open 🙏
i wished my hubby rode would love to do more riding abroad but not brave enough on my own , im alway envious when couples ride together
@lisaholloway888 my Mrs didn't get on the back of a bike for 25 years but after I managed to talk her into it she now doesn't want to get off.
Be great if your hubby could start to learn and share adventures with you. Perhaps buy him a motorcycle training course for his birthday 😁👍
you did a bloody amazing job doing that pass,i would also have my eyes shut and i ride my own bike so not the best lol so scary that wall right next to you, well done both
@lisaholloway888 I must admit I couldn't be a pillion, but as long as you take it slowly it wasn't too bad.
We did it the slightly easier way too, up the south face and down the north.
Thanks for watching and commenting Lisa 😁👍
Superb road and scenery. I wouldn't want to be one of the cyclists heading upwards!
I thunk it was worse when they were overtaking me on the way down 🤣🤣
Definitely a good idea letting them go, especially with the snow and ice risk! @@wsmv
@CalmBiker absolutely mate, I had precious cargo 😄
No wonder Mrs w is on edge after that bloke who couldn't make up his mind.
Another one ticked off the list and a sticker at the top to prove it😎👍
Absolutely mate, I think we both kind of panicked when we saw each other amd went all British on each other 🤣🤣
I was there a week after you and going down was not nice. We had a heck of a lot of traffic coming up too. Well done to you both for doing it.
Thanks buddy, it's something that I'm glad ove done but don't need to do it again.
The south part was a nicer ride than the north that gets all the attention.
Well done you for doing it, 👏
Oh hell! I’m jealous as can be that you did that ride! I know exactly why you did this!!!
Thanks Patrick, it was pretty awesome 😁
Oh Phil,I don't mind telling you this mate, but I got a slight semi while watching this!!! 😮🤣✌️
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Superb vid, Weston.
I'm surprised you didn't chuck a few snowballs at Karen.
We did the Stelvio many, many moons ago but it was in a car as we couldn't get three on a bike.
3 on a bike? Sounds like a challenge to me Jim 🤣
@@wsmv Definitely, Weston, but the Italian plod wouldn't have seen it that way. Been OK in India though.
Bawn journo, Bawn journo, Bawn journo 🇮🇹 ❤😂
❤️🇮🇹👍
fab video may be a idea to link your partners mic into the videos so we can here her too, but lovely place yourve gone
@lisaholloway888 thanks Lisa, I wish I had connected her mic, she comes out with some hilarious stuff sometimes. 😁
That’s a long way up there!!!
Not for anyone with a fear of heights 🤣
@@wsmv I was nervous just watching it!
@Motoramblings 🤣🤣 you can imagine how Karen was 🤣🤣
@@wsmv panicky comes to mind! She can forever say she did it!!!
@Motoramblings 👍
Stelvio is just hard in any conditions. Its a challange, that's all. The views are indeed nice but for pure riding experience and fun there are plenty of passes in Italy. I enjoy Pordoi and sella and Fedaia the most for the views and riding experience. Stelvio is just a sticker you show off. I keep doing it every year with my wife as passenger and at the end i keep asking myself "why?" 😂
🤣🤣 I absolutely agree with you, now I've done the stelvio I have no need to do it again, but there are so many other roads that I want to ride that are much better and more rewarding around Switzerland, Italy and Austria 😍👍
I thought he said tomato too, but think it was "senso vietato" which is "wrong way" LOL.... they drive on the wrong side of the road and Italians have no buisness complaining about driving! 😀 Hahaha 😀
The views are quite distracting, must be hard to keep an eye on the road 🙂
I felt quite bad for driving the wrong way, but I blame Google maps directions 🤣
Mate the scenery was just too much, and the scaled down youtube compression really doesn't do it justice 🤷♂️
Senso Vietato was indeed what was said- The road is one way against the route taken. There were signs to turn right and no entry but, at the end of the day, no animals were harmed and no-one died. Glad you enjoyed yourself, Ill be treturning here in a couple of weeks to enjoy more roads around Bormio.
Tourists going the wrong way on a one way street!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
WTF was that dude doing!?!? 🤦
Good job tip toeing around those damp hairpins.
Karen 🙈🙈😂 tell her you got your knee down 👍
If I'm honest I think we both panicked a bit and that's where it all went wrong.
Yeah Karen was really nervous so taking my time was the only option, I didn't say anything at the time but there was small patches of ice at the top but I didn't want to worry her.
Amazing experience and now I've done it I don't feel I need to go back and do it again 👍
The kawasaki's line would've been good if our rider here had stuck to the outside of the turn, not cut towards the apex without visibility of oncomming traffic. "Damn good at switchbacks" - not yet you aren't. Some were decent, but some were too early on the apex.
Please see my previous post, we both made mistakes, the ascending traffic has right of way so if he had taken a wider arc and aimed for the corner apex it wouldn't have been an issue. I am f**King awesome at switchbacks and you aren't qualified to tell me otherwise 🤣🤣
@@wsmv 😂😂
Spectacular! I’d feel the same as Karen if I was pillion 🫣 I hope she has since enjoyed the views 😎
Yeah she did so well, and was able to appreciate it once we were safely at the bottom 😁
