  • Hands on review of the Canon XF100. I give specs and take a full tour around the camera features with pros and cons, then we have a collage of footage shot with the camera.
    Overall, it's a great video camcorder that's very lightweight, small, portable and full of features. As far as quality, watch the test footage and see for yourself in various situations.

    hey, that's great footage…could you explain to me how you blurred the background automatically…giving it that cinematic look?? I have a Canon XF 100 and know that it's the Depth of Field, but don't know how to make the camera control it automatically...

    Great Video!
    How does this compare to the XA20? Is the XF100 still worth paying around $500 more for even though the XA20 some better specs in some areas?

    Thanks so much for your reply, I wish didn't have to convert the footage from XMF as no matter how high the conversion ration would be, we still loose a bit of the original quality. what settings of conversion would you suggest so there will be minimum loss ? I have read a lot about the XMF format and people who have issues importing into after effects or premier. I think it depends on the OS, as it's originally designed for Mac.

    Thanks so much for this video! I love this camera, but there is one thing that makes it almost unusable for me, regarding the zoom - I wonder if you or anyone can help me with this? I like to use "manual focus", and I focus the old-school way - zoom right in, focus, then zoom back out. I like to use the "Grip Rocker" for zoom, but I am finding that it is way too slow for me, even when I set it to the fastest speed of "16". Don't suppose there is a way to increase the speed of the Grip Rocket beyond this?

    what's your take on using Canon XF 100 vs panasonic GH3 to shoot video for settings like basketball, manufacturing, and remodeling? I've a video shooter but am attracted to using DSLR only for the lens options. Also on sports, I'd rather shoot 60p and not 60i

    So for the flash cards how do you get footage over to computer ? Do I need a converter ?! Or why would you recommend? I’m thinking about buying this camera I have a canon t7i but this one is more professional for what I do !!

    I don't know if this feed is still being updated, but I got the camera and I had to learn there are specific ScanDisk cards to use an not just any company.
    When I finally figure it out, a 32GB will record for 1 hour, the only problem is, it breaks the recording up every 7 minutes, so which means I have to join about the videos when I put them on the time line, is there a setting to do one long recording or am I stuck with this break up in the recording or am I using the wrong memory cards or something?

    Is it possible to do a 'Live feed' from this. As in film someone performing, say Violin playing and have the camera linked to a Projector which shows the player 'live' on a large screen behind them. Like is done in Live Concerts? Thank you in advance - Aindre

    Thanks for review... I assume between the XF 100 vs 200 you'd pick the 200? I need a lightweight camera I can always have on hand for back up and my canon XA10 has always been good to me and want a little more robust than that...

      Sorry for the late reply. I use Pavetube HD video converter to convert the MXF's to Pro Res 422 proxy for editing in FCPX. Hope this helps!

    • @AndreasHeck
      @AndreasHeck 10 років тому

      actually you can directly use the footage from your CF Card.
      Canon provides a FCP X plugin for the MXF Containers.
      If you plug in your camera via USB FCP should then recognize the CF-Cards and you can directly import and edit the video without converting.

    MXF is a container or "wrapper" and not a codec. You got it wrong, bud.
    "At 1080p, 60fps, INTERLACED" Read up what INTERLACED scanning and PROGRESSIVE scanning are and know their differences.
    The feel of your video is great man but you are misinforming people.

    • @LakeKoverFilms

      +LakeKoverFilms 0:59 "It shoots in MPEG2 which is a file wrapper of MXF" There's my evidence
      And also, it's not "color SPACING", it's "chroma sampling" or "color sampling"
      I'm not trolling you, man. I'm just pointing out the facts.

    • @LakeKoverFilms
      @LakeKoverFilms 8 років тому

      Ok, so I got a little verbiage wrong. Your right, it is color sampling.
      But as for MXF, even though I said it confusingly I was conveying that MXF was the rapper.
