I think for everyone commenting there is another 10 with this issue just reading the comments.
My ectopics increase inline with stress. They started from what i believe was burn out or almost adrenal fatigue. But it is very true once they start they can then cause stress about your health and the vicious cycle starts. Sometimes i can go months with out an issue and then suddenly it all starts again.
It's comforting that this Doc is so passionate and is reassuring so many people :)

SAME omg... i was already in burnout--just barely scraping by with my stress levels and extremely tired. Then something incredibly stressful happened and then they started up and haven't gone away since, it's been 8 months.

@@sovereignsoulutions6612 SAME! I got Covid September 2021. Had adrenal fatigue since or a little before. Covid made it worse. Then I had a major trauma incident 2 months ago and started getting these type of beats. I’ve had anxiety over my health for the last 2-3 years. And I’ve been stressed and “worried” a lot lately. I have a stress echo scheduled end of September this year.

I'm surprised this only has 14K views! I am a low stress person and recently went through a divorce, and I didn't think I was as affected by it as I was. My ex (a self-righteous, holier than thou "christian") cheated on me with someone who worked for her (who was also "married"), and just when I thought I was over it, I started having PVCs to the point of bigeminy for hours at a time. My PCP caught a few of them on the ECG and they were textbook patterns. What is crazy is my healthy, 17yr old daughter also started having them a few months after me (without me ever telling her about mine)!! We both take magnesium now and I am on a beta blocker, and that has helped a lot. Learning more about this, taking care of our mental health, and ensuring our diet is full of variety has given us our life back! Thanks for putting this out there and helping random people like us!

Thank you for your thorough review of this study! Boy could I relate to this and your suggestion that people who are anxious have an enhanced awareness. I remember getting pvcs every once in awhile throughout life, but I never knew what they were, and I ignored them and went on with life. Once they were diagnosed, I got more "paranoid" about them and now I feel like I get them every day or at least a few a week! I am addressing as many aspects as I can but also working on psychological pieces such as mindfulness meditation. Your videos are so validating and I learn so much - I REALLY wish you were my doctor! P.S. thank you for the shout out to cognitive behavioral therapy, I actually am a therapist and a big CBT proponent!

Extremely helpful, and thorough response. I have a good cardiologist, but he doesn't sit down and really explain things like this, which is of course exactly when people need. Doc, thanks for posting these, just finding your videos now but they are extremely helpful. In my case, I was someone who had no real noticeable anxiety until I reached around 40 years of age, and then suddenly one day had a heart rhythm disturbance out of nowhere that lasted for a few minutes, and subsided - it felt like my heart was beating randomly, dizzy, and a bit weak, but its so hard to know which symptoms came from the heart itself and which from the panic that immediately overwhelms you when this first happens. In the 5 years since, I have had hundreds of "single skipped beats" that I strongly feel (very tuned in to it), spread out. Probably no more than a 3-5 in a single bad day, and many weeks or months with none at all. During those 5 years, I have had a half dozen "extended" episodes, which were likely doubles, triples or quadruples of pvcs. I have worn a holter monitor, and more recently 5 days a Zio XT patch, but in all monitoring cases I have never been able to capture an extended event (more than a single skip), so I still cannot tell if it's afib, or ectopic.
It does correlate with stress (work stress especially as I manage a team of technologists), and also with low levels of testosterone. Caffeine (I love my morning coffee) exacerbates the odds of a palpitation, and having drank alcohol the night before also does. The ultimate recipe for likely palps is: stressful week of work, followed by social alcohol at night and a coffee the next morning.
One note that always surprises me ... my heart rate is very calm when these happen, before and after. I've checked my pulse (manually and with a device) many times right after these happen, and it can be as low as 58-68 bpm right after an episode, which has me feeling terror (so one would think it would spike my heart rate). I am not a marathon runner, but my blood pressure is 110/80, and I do exercise and go jogging. So i think the bradycardia rates I see in the high 50's at time are likely not an issue. But I do find it odd that I will feel out of nowhere flutters and flops for 1 to 5 seconds, and then a steady 58 bpm after that. Also, I always have an urge to cough when an episode starts. No idea if it helps or not, but almost always it works, just might be timing in that they were only going to last 2-3 ectopic beats anyway.
Lastly, years ago I investigated my testosterone levels with a doctor. They were extremely low (280) at the time. Anxiety is a top symptom of low T, so I worked with a doctor to take clomid, which raised my levels to normal, and my anxiety went away and my skipped beats reduced to almost none. The times I have had issues were the times where I tried to taper off of the treatment, and more recently when I ran out of my meds and tried to half my dose to space them out. I wonder if this whole issue is a cycle of low T, plus work stress constant, causing high anxiety, which triggers palps, which causes more anxiety.
So this short thank you post turned into a long-winded explanation of my symptoms and life. Apologies! Thanks again for all of your work and videos!

Had a run of svt at 199 bpm before I was put on my beta blocker last year. Been doing pretty well but stress defiant is a trigger. I have had an echo with mild mitral prolapse, stress echo which was fine and ekg with pvcs but docs aren’t concerned. So was put to sleep to get this one in! LOL anyways, not sure really if the Mirena has brought this on? it has been going on now for 3months. I am in the process now of getting some heart tests done. Going to see the Heart specialist this Thursday to find out what they have found. Sorry for the long rant here! just wanted to say it's so nice to watch your videos! they really make me feel more calm and ok about my situation. I have a delayed reaction to stress. It is when you always had one or two..then suddenly, you look inward and then you notice every single strange beat. Now we become more aware of what we always had, however we are more sensitized to them. I Can say this, but when I get just ONE...it drives me to worry and worry can drive me to get more. It too have anxiety disorder. I had not any of these for many years, or that bothered me. Now...I have a lot of stress since my husband suffered multiple strokes.

I've noticed a large reduction in ectopics from running every single day. strength training is nice, but running seems to suppress a lot of them. I think I went from around 300-400 Noticeable ectopics a day to around 50 on a really bad day, most days they are around 20 or less. I highly recommend moderate cardiovascular exercise! I get around 8-10 during my daily runs/exercise, but MY GOD will I take that over the hundreds while constantly resting. Please guys, give running a try if you haven't already.

Thank you very much for another great video! Your advice to try breathing in a more relaxed way is a good one, I actually try to do this when I get a lot of ectopics in a row and often it reduces them. I was wondering whether the fact that I get more ectopics when I am walking at a relatively high pace may also be related to stress or adrenaline. When I first got ectopics a few years ago, they increased in rest after walking or when I went to bed. However, after almost a year without ectopics, they came back and now they get more frequent when I am walking at a relatively high pace or when I get nervous, and I get less of them when I start relaxing after an activity. I would think that a faster heartbeat gives less time for a ectopic beat to be generated, but in actuality it seems to be more complicated than that. It would be great if you could explain more about this. Anyway, thanks again, Dr. Gupta, I'm looking forward to your next video!

Anxiety about the condition could be helped by the medical profession explaining about the condition and pointing the patient to areas where they can find out the details etc. I was given medication and sadly over dosed, told I had A Fib that was it. You can’t get much information from the GPs and I haven’t had one for the past year so get a different locum 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank You so much for this video. I’ve been suffering from asymptomatic PVCs since a routine Airline Pilot ECG last February. I’ve had the following tests:- Stress ECG (PVCs disappear with exercise), Multiple 24 hour ECGs, 2x Echocardiograms and a Cardiac MRI. I have reduced cardiovascular exercise for around 6 months as the cardiac review pointed towards athletes heart (in the Grey zone but I am extremely fit). At my recent 24 hour ECG the PVC burden increased from 19% to 24% but my resting heart rate increased as a result of detraining. I find that “negative” stress is definitely a trigger for me. If I conduct an AppleWatch ECG after 8 hours good sleep I am in normal sinus rhythm. If I do an ECG later in the day I have a PVC on average every 4th beat. Other than trying to reduce stress is there any way to reduce the PVCs? I tried taking Magnesium but this has only had a moderate effect. Thank you once again 👍

Great video Dr. Gupta! My condition is different but similar in a way. I was "flagged" for having PTSD coming back from Afghanistan. Anger and lots of anxiety, I went to the ER on three occasions after having an anxiety attack. The first two times they told me everything with my heart was fine. The third time the EKG showed my heart only beating at 28bpm (bradycardia). I have seen some research online linking PTSD and anxiety to bradycardia. I now have a pacemaker full time. I was wondering if you have heard of this "link" and what you may know. Other research has shown soldiers with PTSD have developed bradycardia. Any information would be great. Thank you, Bob.

How are people reducing their anxiety? I’ve reached a point in my health anxiety where I spend almost every single day, terrified by the sensations in my body and utterly convinced I will soon drop dead from cardiac arrest. I honestly can’t live like this but have no idea how to reduce these fears and feelings?!

This may sound kinda rude or like ive bever experienced anxiety but trust me i have so badly i was about to buy my own aed because i was so afraid of cardiac arrest. But then i watched this anxiety motivation to literally stop giving a fuck. And althought it sounds almost impossible and hard at the beggining trust me its possible. Just dont give a fuxk, if you die you die lmao why care? You're alive at the moment so why care if you die in 5 seconds, just stop hiving a fuxk and start living

Hey Dr. 11 years ago I was addicted to adderall. That is what started my PVC's. Been totally sober for 10 years. 1 year after quitting I had major PVC issues. And its caused so much anxiety in my life. Whenever in life I face stress or physical stress I get PVC's to this day. Do you think the adderall damaged me or is it the anxiety. My hearts been checked and always looks strong and healthy.

What does cortisol with the heart? do cause this also ectopic beats?. For me it do is so I have no ectopics on the morning and during the wole day, I get them in the evening, and cortisol does secrete most around this times. I had a big time with stress, even with a lot of anger, I am quite unhandy and drop things on the vloor sometimes, I have now a very beautifull heartbeat of 58 in a quiet nice siunoidal matter, but when etcopics start, and it starts always with a unrest in the body and some feeling of fear.

Sir, you have been extremely helpful in explaining what is behind my pvcs psvcs I am getting. Experiencing occassional palpitations, the sensation in my chest is that the heart is beating extremely fast and hard, but in the end the heart rate is just slightly elevated according to my smartwatch(but it does feel like high intensity workout). Is that normal feeling? I was made aware of my ectopic beat by a nurse, that made an ecg years back as a routine check and she made me redo the ecg, saying that my heart is not appropriate to my age and the values were not good. Since then I am aware of my heart beat and I think I developed anxiety, despite my heart being structurally in good condition and number of ectopics quite low. I dont know how to get rid of the anxiety, but your comprehensive videos are very helpful and comforting.

Nope, an ectopic heartbeat, PAC or PVC happens when the heart's Atrial or Venticular section contracts too fast causing and too early heartbeat then an pause for the heart rhytm to reset

odd spasms in back of throat , slightly painful. could these be ectopic beats? Almost feels like a sharp quick stab in the throat, not external pain, internal. Like a contraction, sometimes radiates into upper chest. could these be ectopic beats?

Please check out the free course called cbt4panic on udemy. App. This really helped me understand the connection between stress, anxiety and various heart related sensations. I had a HA at 42, even though I had been incredibly health conscious most of my life, so it knocked me for six, loads of tests , and all came back negative Cardiology doesn't delve into the power of the mind. Took me 4 years to start to overcome my fears and it was great to find Sanjays videos to back it up from a cardiologists perspective. Btw I "hear" my ectopics too so a double whammy but if I can overcome them so can you

They just palgue me day after day after day… im like a skeleton as eating anything makes them worse, i would rather have my legs removed than these. Thats not said lightly. Thats the truth, i dream im normal but minutes after waking here they go again.
