Ectopics have ruined the last 20 years of my life, and continue to since they seem to be getting more frequent. That being said, Dr Gupta is literally THE only reassurance I’ve ever had about this very specific condition. And the fact that he freely gives this information especially via free web-chats is just astounding. God bless this man 10x over 😭
If you cannot find the trigger(s) - mine is black mold, why not look into ablation? Also, look at histamine, insulin, and inflammation, food/all allergies, change environment, pets. If you're in the US, find a functional medicine doctor.
I had AFIB when I was 35 years old. My Cardiologist told me I had PVC and it was normal and not to worry. Never told me anything else. After years of asking for more info, asking questions of my own docs, getting referrals, and doing research, I have just learned more about it in the last 60 minutes after discovering Dr. Gupta's videos. Thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart. All I needed (and have needed for the past 5 years) is an explanation of WHAT it is and WHY I shouldn't stress myself out everyday over it. Thank you so much!
He says he does not know how it feels and that's why he wants to try to understand his patients better; he has real empathy as well as intellectual curiosity about his patients' experiences and how best to help them. This is what makes him different from most cardiologists and most doctors in general in my opinion.
By far the only doctor that actually understands exactly how I am feeling . Thank you so much for for these videos! You have no idea what these videos mean to me!
@@adinashenry5474 Its crazy how often i get them and i am one of the lucky ones who feels every single one of them. gets tiring to be honest. glad i am not alone!!
Thank you SO much for making these videos. Whenever I have anxiety about my PVCs, this channel is where I come to watch a video or two. Not only do you explain things in a comprehensive fashion to us non-medical folk, but there's just something so soothing about the way you do it. You're part cardiologist, part therapist. 😆
I had my wife watch just the first couple of minutes of this video to show her how empathetic you were towards your patients, and how if more doctors were like you most of us wouldn't have the fear we have of going to see the doctor, and would consequently see our GP more often and live much longer and happier as a result. I wish you were my cardiologist!!
You are quite literally doing the Lord's Work. I can't put into words how much you have reduced my stress levels and removed the FEAR that many of us live with, that the next heart beat might be your last on Earth. Getting my magnesium supplement TODAY and starting it TODAY!
6 months ago I had ectopic beats at rest and during exercise, they were awful and I began to fear them.. I visited my GP, got referred and had all the tests done that Dr Sanjay mentioned.. All came back normal and I even achieved 16 minutes on the stress test! Ever since then my ectopics have completed disappeared.. Never under-estimate the power of your mind!
@Alicante Actress don’t be bro 90bpm isn’t high at all if you were having a heart attack it would be well above 100 and trust me your not alone this shits tuff
I am having ectopic beats for almost a year, my doctors said that it's definitely not the heart and I need to find what causes them. I have had so many theories and my heart has always acted like I was right (like when I thought that it's related to my stomach somehow and I've got them right after I ate or when I was really hungry) until I visited the doctor to prove my theory. It always appeared that I was healthy and it could not cause ectopic beats, and right after the news they always started to behave differently (but I have had them every day in different quantities: some days 4-10, some days probably more then 10000). Until I finally came to the conclusion that it is stress related. Then I have had almost a week with no ectopic heartbeats for the first time in 6 month.. And I have felt them only in stress related situations since then. Who knows, maybe some day I can make them totally disappear (or almost).
You are absolutely the best thing that's ever happened to patients and people with health anxiety. The way you explain things makes it easy to understand and has saved me from complete panic and running to the ER. Thank you SO much for what you do!!! Beyond appreciative!
Two years ago I ended up in A&E with ectopic heartbeats. This channel was the first place I really got any answers and reassurance. Two years later after numerous tests, with stress and anxiety management, taking magnesium everyday and with more exercise - my ectopics are far less but more importantly I don’t freak out when they do happen. That’s been the biggest change. They were taking over my life. I’ve taken that back from them. Keep up the great work with your videos 👍🏻
Hi, glad to hear you are feeling much better! I was wondering what specific Magnesium and how much are you taking? Also what type of stress and anxiety management do you practice? I take Magnesium Glycinate about 250mg but haven't taken it for long to know if it's truly helping. Hope to hear back!
Marybeth Moreno hi there. I started off taking Magnesium Taurate and that certainly helped. I’ve changed though to a MAG365 which is power format and can be made into a hot drink before bed. This seems easier on my system. In terms of quantity, I believe it’s approx 150mg per day which around 40% daily recommended. This works for me. I found that taking a higher dosage caused my leg muscles to twitch (strangely). For anxiety, which really only happened after I got panic attacks during ectopic episodes, I downloaded a popular app for relaxation. It helped going to sleep and walking the routes where I had the panic attacks. It found it invaluable. And obviously talking about what was happening with friends and family also helped. Explaining that it wasn’t just in my head. These were real and they freaked me out. Badly. Now I understand they are not dangerous. I accept when they happen and that they will happen most likely again. Accepting it seems to have helped and they rarely happen these days. So all in all, try not to panic. I did and it took over. It fed into a cycle of ectopics. The more I worried the worse they got, and the more I worried. I’m back on the right track now. The futures bright. Hope that helped.
@@Xrakes Thank you so much for the insight. It's a relief talking to someone who has them also. I just started experiencing these pvc's about two weeks ago. It's been a really rough time because of the fear of unknown, I've gone to the ER twice. I even had to take some time off from work because of the anxiety it's causing me. Luckily I have a good support system (family, therapist, etc.) and Dr. Gupta has been a God send for me. The past few days have been getting better, less anxiety and panic episodes. For the past few days I have been taking Mag Glycinate (powder form)about 250mg daily, potassium 99mg, Omega 3 oil, B complex (for emotional support) and also a high grade multi vitamin. I also cut out fast foods, sodas, caffeine and not all but a lot of sugar intake. I had all my test come back normal and have a healthy heart while at hospital. I'm currently waiting to send off my two week heart monitor for results and talk with cardiologist further. I honestly think it is linked to my eating habits and anxiety/stress because when I am calm I don't feel them as much. I do feel them more in certain positions like when I 'm sitting in a car. Which sucks cause my job is driving an 18 wheeler. Ugh! Why me?? I guess the faster I realize they are harmless the better quality of life I will have. Again thanks for the info! 😊
Marybeth Moreno well for what it’s worth. I similarly ended up in A&E twice and yes my ectopics are linked mainly to stress and anxiety. The good thing is that once you know that, and all your tests are clear, then you can focus on managing your stress/anxiety. Just don’t let that fear take hold. If you can do that then there’s certainly light at the end of the tunnel. All I can say is it’ll get better. The internet is a bad place to seek knowledge but this channel is the exception. You’re off to a good start. Best of luck and health!
I can't believe that this is the first time in 8 months that my questions are answered. And I have been seeing cardiologists and experts in arrhythmias. I'm moved, finding this channel is the best thing that happened to me lately. And I am blown away by the accuracy and extremely detailed information that is given. Bless you❤ can't thank you enough, people like you make this world a better place❤
Dr Sanjay - This is the second time you have reduced my anxiety... The last time was re: blood pressure numbers... I am now less anxious when 'in the middle of the night' I can feel my heart skip a beat and then follow up with several beats in a second... Thank you... No Mother Snake - lol
I’ve learned more about my ectopic beats from your videos than from any cardiologist. In fact, they never even mentioned the ectopics other than listing them in the report. I was just told to do whatever I wanted without restriction.
I’ve been having ectopics since I had covid in early January. These have been hugely troublesome to me. I then became pregnant in April and these were exasperated 10 fold! I have never been so terrified for my life and felt so mortal, they led me to become very agoraphobic and terrified to move, as often they would happen suddenly whilst out and about. I always come to your channel in times of panic, and I am so grateful for your posts ❤
Same here I got covid in January and have had ectopics since. I’m 19 and it’s been scary but I’m still doing alright and trying to fight all the anxiety about it
@@anyonebluejay5597 have you seen a cardiologist? They can provide some reassurance for sure! I’m on beta blockers now which definitely have decreased the amount of ectopics and tachycardia episodes I’ve been having :)
@@jane6261 yes, I had ecg, echocardiogram, 2 week monitor, and tilt table test done. My echocardiogram is completely normal. It definitely has been reassuring though sometimes I keep worrying and feeling like maybe I need more tests. They wanted me to try a beta blocker but I haven't gone on one yet because it scares me tbh 😭 are your ectopics PVCs/VEs? That's what mine are, in the ventricles.
@@anyonebluejay5597 you’ve had similar tests to me, I also had a normal echo. I keep doubting it and wanting another too - I think anxiety plays a big part in heart issues (I’ve never been so anxious in my life). I have a mixture of PVC’s and PAC’s so both ventricular and supraventricular. Although they’re benign, they do feel rotten. Do whatever is right for you in regards to treatment, I’m glad I’m on beta blockers but totally get the fears with medication too. I hope your symptoms ease but feel free to come back here if you’re in a stress it’s nice to know you’re not alone in your symptoms :)
Hey guys! I'm in the same boat.... I had an echocardiogram back in 2015 they won't do one for me now... Do you know if your heart structure can change in 7 years? I'm having severe ectopic heartbeats since covid and being vaccinated
This is so reassuring instead of making us feel like we’re imagining it all as most Dr’s have made me feel all my life. In order to deal with it alone I have pretty much come to the conclusion that ‘It hasn’t killed me after all these years therefore it’s best ignored’ and that has helped me not worry however the strong pains still take my breath away so your reassurance that if it temporary it’s unlikely to be doing any damage is very helpful. Seeing cardiologist tomorrow for Echo results so if she says all good, I’ll feel a lot more reassured too after your explanation of what they look for in an echo 👍🏻 Thank you for taking the time to make these videos - much appreciated.
My electrophysiologist said he's had one patient in 25 years develope a weak heart from etopics and was fixed with ablation. It's rare, but I'm running out of patients with these for the past 7 years. Lucky it started at 57 and not 17 like some. It's hard enough handling it at this age.
This video made me worry so much less about my extra beats. I have had three EKG tests in the last two months. They all came back fine but I still worried once I started getting my palpitations again. Thank you for all of your information Dr Gupta. Also. Thank you for all of the people in the comments. Being a cyberchondriac is not easy
All these years after this video was posted, it’s still helping people(even across the pond). This video is so reassuring because i had all the tests you mentioned. Going to try a beta blocker next week because I’m having between 3.6% and 9% PVCs but nothing else concerning.
Thank you, doctor. I have had all kinds of heart issues over the past 15 years. I'm 44 now. I think it all comes down to anxiety because I've had calcium tests, stress tests, device-wearing tests, echocardiograms, etc. They never found anything, but I've had heart pains, ectopic beats, and all kinds of stuff through the years. Need stress management.
Hello doctor. I want to thank you for your videos. I've been watching for a few months now after a diag of CHF. Your knowledge is immense and your presentation s very patient friendly. I believe you are doing tremendous good for a lot of people. GOD bless.
Your videos are incredibly helpful. I went to bed and felt a thump in my chest and immediately panicked thinking something was wrong. I didn’t sleep and had heart palpitations all night. It then followed on the day before and worried me. I went to my hospital for a check up the same night and found that I was suffering from ectopics beats. It did worry whether it would do damage and whether they disappear but I know if I can reassure myself and be less fearful I should be ok. Thank you for describing them it’s help my anxiety and fears.
The only doctor who relieved my anxiety to some extent about ectopics. Thank you. I try to avoid ectopics by strictly following suitable diet and work/rest balance or changing body position and doing breathing exercises when it comes to it. I would not ignore them as occasionally one becomes a few, then series and then atrial fibrillation might kick in. This is after having ablation procedure more than year ago. Better than measures mentioned above are regular mindfulness exercises and practice helps most.
Denis , I wonder how you are doing now ? I had an Ablation for AFib in June and since then horrible ectopics each day / PVCs and also some PACs . I’m taking the magnesium but no improvement . I’m reassured by dr Gupta and I am very happy with my cardiologist too
@@margaretbinns3134 I had a second ablation 2 months ago. Something they missed first time. Still on medication, ectopics now and then, but the result will be clear only after coming off medication in January. Also I have to mention recent discovery. It became obvious that carbs in my diet were killing me and I had no choice but go into keto diet. Changes so far are promising in only two-three weeks. The time will tell. Mindfulness practice still work very well, especially in the middle of night if mind goes in to panic mode due to past experiences. Mindfulness enables me to distinguish between what mind tells me and what is perceived in reality. Usually reality is: everything is within normal range and ectopics now and then is normal too. Hope this helps. Thank you ☺️
@@margaretbinns3134 Sorry, I feel I need to mention this in addition for more complete picture as I really feel for people who go through similar experience to mine.: At age of 54, AF was not my only health issue. Massive difficulties with digestive system, long periods of dizziness, mid and upper back muscle problems resulting in difficulty to sit or stand for considerable amounts of time. No specialist could pinpoint the problem, so, no treatment for that. In light of this I came to believe that AF, ectopics and other heart rhythm issues are activated by other processes in body, since above mentioned are paroxysmal, not happening all the time. Therefore it would be important to find something that helps specifically for you.. And this is no simple matter. Out there are tons of information that can be not suitable in your case. Also, capability to think clearly and distinguish is reduced by declining body condition in general. To overcome this a great deal of mindfulness would help. Mindfulness extends to understanding that if I fail to correct things: it's Ok too. I emphasize mindfulness as the key. No person is same and only you can see what is going on inside and what suggestions to apply learned from others. Hope you find your solution. Best. Denis
As a nurse your incredible bedside manner is very refreshing. You have an empathy which can be very rare in Drs these days. The work load and pressure Drs are under they do not always have the time for reassuring the patient or have the time to explain these questions the way that you have today. Thank you so very much much your kindness and your expertise. It is appreciated
Thank you so much for these wonderful videos! I’ve had PVCs throughout the day every day for 15 years and it causes me a lot of anxiety. Your “test of time” comment really helps me. All of your information really helps me, thank you so much! I also see other comments on your videos from people just like me which is like group therapy in a way. It’s reassuring to see I’m not alone. Thank you thank you thank you!
Dr Gupta thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I've recently had a really bad episode of palpitations and was told at the ER that I was experiencing anxiety attack. I went to a private cardiologist and got some tests which confirmed everything was fine... I'm a former competitive tennis player, now obese professional, so I think this has to go something with my recent health issues. I wanted to thank you for everything that you do as I feel reassured that everything is fine and I need not worry
I love these videos, not only because they are more personally relevant as I go through some of the testing Dr. Sanjay mentions but also because he is perhaps the most authentic doctor I have seen in most of my decades old life. Medicine shouldn’t be a mystery clouded by a physicians ego. Thank you. I missed the Facebook live talk and will keep an eye for the next one. Thank you for your integrity and sharing.
Once again thank you very much from the bottom of our hearts for all the time you spend making all these great videos. God bless you and your love ones.
You are the kindest most informative Dr I have ever encounterd. It is a true shame that I am all the way in South Africa becuase the gretest gift would be to consult with you regarding frigtening ecropics. Thank you so much for the time snd effort you put into providing information to me and fellow sufferes.
Hi Dr. I had what I thought were some basic, anxiety created chest pain. GP sent me off to see a cardiologist. Cardiologist said it's nothing, but that I needed a stress test to be sure. I did that, and it showed an abnormality indicative of having a blocked coronary. That led to a CTCA scan, which then showed an apparent 100% blocked coronary, leading to an angiogram. Despite all that I felt physically fit and well. Other than now extreme anxiety. The angiogram was done, which then showed my arteries were perfectly fine. It was the most anxious and crap experience of my life. Watching your videos during that time was very reassuring, and very informative to me during that experience. They all corroborated my hope that I had nothing going on, and eased some of the anxiety during that time. So many thanks for your videos, and keep up all the good work!
I'm glad to see how much your channel grew in a year Dr. Been here since 2k subs, now almost 100k. Goes to show that ectopics is something a lot of people crave for answers about. Went back and forth on the idea of consulting you but never had the courage to do it. Applied all your advices and now i only feel ectopics 2-3 times a day. I think cycling 25km every 2 days is what helped the most. But i still worry when i get them. I might mail you my Holter and stress test results if you're still open to that kind of thing 😊
@@Carlos-fh8wk Not really worried about the workouts, it's after the workouts that worries me. Got no problem when working out, but relaxing after the workout i will always get a couple of thumps 🤢
@Danaos I notice it’s when I relax as well. Especially if I sit or lay down quickly, like basically falling back into a chair or on a pillow, then I will notice some odd things. I’ve had 2 holters, one for two weeks, now I have a loop recorder. I’ve had an echo as well and it only showed a mild leak in 2 valves. But so far nothing my doctor has any concern over. Basically they all say that, in my case, it’s likely nerves/stress/anxiety. It’s hard not to be scared when you feel such things though.
@@nathanh3373 What i understand after years of reading up, listening to Dr Gupta and others i thing it all has to do with the vagus nerve. Ectopics in my case always come after sitting down, laying down, eating or just before having a big fart coming up, all situations that can press the vagus nerve, so that's the best explanation i can muster. Why do some people feel ectopics and others dont i guess it's because of different vagus nerve positioning or pressure or twisting, i dunno. That's what i tell myself anyway nowdays to forget about it 😋
Thank you so much! Please keep the videos coming-very informative! I have acid reflux and notice way more palpitations when it’s flared up vs when it’s not-can be very scary and unsettling
I have acid reflux and have just given diagnosis of the ectopic beats , ever time I eat something it flares as I get lot of belching due to acid reflux I am scared to death.
If you read about them, there's no proof that eating has anything to do with them. Really ? Well I'm afraid it does, because it does me too. Depends, because it's not all the time. Some experts say, don't try to identify triggers because it doesn't work, and I do believe that !
I am currently going through evaluation for palpitations- cardiac mri next week. I am 39 and still have young children- i know one day this machine will end up in the shop but I’d rather have a good a clear understanding than a surprise later. It goes a long way when the doctor is able to educate and provide resources to the patient. Somethings are out of our hands sometimes you get a check engine light.
I’ve had PVCs for months now every day and all throughout the day. 5 day Holter, ECG, and stress echo all normal. The PVCs still bother me, but I definitely feel more comfortable knowing that my heart is in great shape. Hopefully one day they will stop for a while.
@@noordervaish4226 I’m still having them every day. Been having them every day for years now. It doesn’t bother me as much mentally now, but I can’t get them to stop.

There are ppl who are doctors and then there are doctors who happen to be ppl. The first kind is created by humankind and second kind is created by God. Dr Gupta is the 2nd kind. I come from a long line of physicians and surgeons and I have observed the differences especially with older generations Vs new generation. Thank God for you Dr Gupta. I wished you were here because it is very rare to find a doctor like you in the USA. Thank you. Xxxxxxxxxx
Thank you. I have had ectopics for 10-15 years and any episode where they happen remains scary. I''ve had ECGs, holter monitoring, stress tests and echo cardiogram and have passed all with flying colors. I'll refer to your other video where it's mostly the fear (unfounded in my case) that makes it so much worse than it has to be.
Thanks again for another informative video. Been suffering with ectopics for 20 years now, had been severely anxious for most of that time but now I find myself fine most of the time when I get an episode of skipped or extra beats. It's only the runs of rapid or irregular heartbeats over maybe 5 or 10 seconds that still freak me out. It feels like my heart is out of sync, if that makes any sense. I can't help but think will this be the time where my heart doesn't reset? But sure enough it always does. I'd like to thank you for your time and effort in making these videos which bring some much needed reassurance to people like me who have just been told everything is fine without any explanation of what is actually going on. I had all the tests you mentioned and everything was good but it was never explained to me what these episodes were. In fact, I had never even heard the word ectopic until I started watching your videos. You alone are the reason my anxiety is nowhere near what it was up until about 2 years ago when I discovered your channel. I'm truly grateful. Thank you.
super synopsis on ectopic problems.I have had them for twenty years and i continue to have them although i have zero noticeable symptoms.I also agree as a health care professional that it is beyond rare that these ectopics cause heart damage even at very high levels. An good echocardiogram in my mind so reassure anybody that their ectopics are just annoying but do not pose a danger to heart damage
Yup. My heart doctor said he's had one patient have a problem in 25 years of practice, so it is rare. Of course he can't help me. 2nd opinion since 2017 when they started after taking a anti-seizure med called Topamax. I'm pretty sure it started them. Never went away.
Dr. Gupta, you are a gift to us all. Your expertise is matched only by your compassion and empathy. Oh, how I wish we had cardiologists within the purview of most Americans. I had a nuclear stress test after I had a CAC scan with a score of 492. My cardiologist never called about the nuclear stress test. When I called, the receptionist told me “everything is fine.” The cardiologist , although he did not speak to me or explain anything, threw another 10 mg pill of Amlodipine at me. This means 20 milligrams of Amlodipine. No one cares. I’m simply a cog in the wheel. Very disconcerting. Very recently , I discovered your videos. They not only impart the knowledge we need but also provide a comforting and reassuring approach. Thank you. I know my words are not chronologically cogent with life but please accept my condolences for the loss of your father.
Doctor sanjay u r second God yo us . No doctors r able to undestand wt v r going through. Only when i read comments i realised i m not only one suffering. I can hear the heart beat more when i rest. But atleast yr videos give us reassurance
Excellent video. Once again you give me hope and reassurance. I have had PVCs for 35 years now, they wax and wane. For the past few years I have hardly felt them but now they are flaring up. Such a nuisance.
Your videos are so helpful in explaining the heart. Have had Etopic beats, siting down, laying down, eating, getting up from sitting, doing dishes, walking, sleeping, and it feels juat about anything I do. ECG showed bradycardia, and tachycardia. Holter monitor showed PVCs, SVTs, skipped beats, and extra beats. Stress test regular and Nuclear shows no damage to theheart as of right now. Multiple echocardiograms show as normal. Theory is I've damaged / interpreted my Vegas nerve from having my lower esophageal sphincter muscle stretched 10 times due to EOE. That and triggers of stress, anxiety, and caffeine is causing the etopic beats.
I appreciate your videos so much. You have reassured me greatly. I have had fluttering maybe once a year for years, but since last October they have become much more frequent along with me slowing down and experiencing dizziness at times during my 3.5-4 mile morning walks. This concerns me, but I have not really been in a panic about it. I had an EKG that was fine, I just got results of 48 hour holter monitor during which I only had two mild flutters, but an hour after taking it off a had a big one. Doesn't that just figure. LOL It showed the two flutters as Premature Atrial Beats, which from your videos I realize are not something to really worry about. When it started I thought maybe it was my slightly leaky valves had gotten worse, or that I inherited Wolfe Parkinson White from my mother, or I was going to have a heart attack like my dad and need bypass like him, or that I had an enlarged heart like my grandmother. Like you have said, we do start to worry about everything. I'm grateful for what you do here because it has helped me to understand this better and relieve the concerns, even with my family history. Keep up the great work. I appreciate you so much.
Just discovered your channel! Soooo helpful thank you doctor! I have had a lot of ectopics this last two years because of off the scale stress. I manage it with beta blockers and an anti anxiety med. had a 24 hour ECG about a month ago and its all fine.
You are utterly brilliant and wonderful as a person and a professional. You are a credit to your profession and a fine example for your peers to aspire to. THANK YOU for imparting your vast knowledge and experience in a relatable way. Thank you for your altruism.
What a fantastic and honest and very deep video about this topic. You are the first doctor ever in almost 30 years that understand what I am going through. Very, very much appreciated ❤
Just a comment to help all the people on here asking questions and hoping Dr. Gupta will answer. Chances are he won't. I think he still does consultations (in person, at York Cardiology, UK or remotely) but these will cost you. You can visit his web page at York Cardiology, in any case. Also, for those suffering with a great deal of anxiety, as a result of your ectopic heart activity, I would highly recommend a book called "At Last a Life" by Paul David. It's available from the UK, ordered mine on line and found it most helpful of all books on the subject of anxiety so far. Have had PVC's and severe SVT for the past 20 years, on and off. Good luck and good health to all.
That's perfectly understandable. My comment was for those seeking a diagnosis on here. You spend a lot of your time presenting this very valuable information, on top of your regular professional commitments. That is very admirable. As you can see, it's also very much appreciated!
I absolutely love your channel. So much reassurance! You have such a gentle and kind demeanor, which goes a very long way in calming others. Thank you!
Your uploads are a pleasure to watch ...Extremely informative and always reassuring ...a very big THANK YOU Doctor And thank you gain for sharing your wisdom and knowledge
This certainly assures me that my persistent ectopics do not mean imminient death; I have no other symptoms, and will be visiting a cardiologist in 3 weeks, to review my echocardiogram. In the meantime, I will continue to walk 10 miles/day (no ill effects) and attempt to consume a gallon of water/day, along with the copius nutriceuticals that my kinesioligist advises... THANK YOU, Dr. Gupta, for reassuring me that I won't die in the near future!
thank you for your videos and reassurance..My Dr put me on Propranolol for severe headaches but instead of helping with them they have all but stopped my ectopic beats so maybe they could possibly help others..I am only on 5mg a day..
@@danangdevils For you, I have no idea about your medical history and/or your health status, so cannot give you any advice. However, I can let you know how I solved mine and the causal factors involved. I developed multiple food allergies and sensitivities after a vaccine aged 12. I didn't know this at the time, and many foods were causing my heart to beat irregularly. Later in life (late 20s), I figured this out after looking at the science of H2 receptors in the heart and histamine. When the body releases histamine into the blood stream, it can lock into H2 receptors in the heart, causing inotropic and chronotropic disturbances (irregular beats, basically). This is oversimplified, so if you want to look into the science yourself, it'll provide some deeper insight. One thing that led me in the right direction was the fact I had hayfever and would take an H1 antagonist anti-histamine (cetirizine) in the Summer months. Summer was usually the time my irregular heartbeats subsided somewhat, and Winter was when it always came back strong. So, the anti-histamine action had a pronounced effect on the severity of my irregular heartbeat. That's how I realised it was related to my immune system. So my solution was to take a daily 10mg cetirizine hydrochloride (over-the-shelf anti-histamine), as well as cutting the foods from my diet that were causing inflammation and irregular heartbeats. The elimination diet took a very long time (years), as it was very difficult to find every single food straight away. Now I'm 100% irregular heartbeat-free, 24/7/365, unless I'm testing a food/spice/herb I've never had before and it comes back due to an immune system reaction. Never felt healthier. Hope this information is of some use to you. But remember, I don't know anything about your medical status, so please don't think of this as 'your' solution. It may/may not be. But from my experience, and from talking to other people (anecdotally) who have had similar transient irregular heartbeats that come and go, it's been related to their immune system response to certain foods they occasionally eat.
@@JimGriffOne thank you so much for your detailed response, I really appreciate it and I’m glad you’ve finally got rid of them! I have no prior medical history, fairly normal 41 year old, did a half marathon the other week and they came out of the blue after that, died down for a week or so then have come back with a vengeance after I ran a 5k. And they’re always worse when I’m sat down or in bed. I’ve had a blood test so waiting on those results and I’m being booked in to see a cardio specialist as I also have health anxiety issues so the doc is covering all the bases. Can I ask what frequency you would have the ectopic beats? I caught 5 in 30 seconds on my Apple Watch earlier which freaked me out.
Whenever i get tension if skip beats i watch these videos again again. It gives me assurances. My cardiologist told me ignore not pay much attention but v r suffering only know how much v r suffering. It ruins oue life. Doctor i get tingling in my hands n legs my cardiologist told to see neurologist. It is so
why do they fell different sometimes they just feel like pause and start back up sometimes they pause with the thump after but sometimes they cause a stomach drop feeling and hot flash and make you feel like it took your breath for a second
maybe because you're getting PACs and PVCs. I get both and PACs feel like a small flutter, but the PVCs have more energy. In either case they're both not dangerous and it's a slow but sure process getting rid of the fear of them :)
This helps me so much I’m getting pvcs all day everyday and I’m so scared I won’t leave the house it’s messing with my everyday life I been two 5 heart drs and I feel like they all dismiss how I feel and always tell me not to worry about it this Dr reinsurers you and is very clear on what’s going on and that helps thank you so much
Thank you so much for this reassuring video. I have just been told that I have an extra systolic ventricula beat. I am 71. My heart does flutter occasionally and it’s never bothered me. I am reasonably healthy. I walk my dog three times a day and I eat healthily MOST of the time😳. I have to go for the further tests as per your description. The only time it seems to happen, or be noticeable is if I have had some alcohol. I used to like a glass of wine or two, but the fluttering of my heart and the after effects make me feel so rotten that I stopped having any wine. To be honest I don’t miss it at all.
Excellent and always reassuring thank you for such good information and taking the time to share, the ability to make others feel better is a gift and you do that.
I really appreciate your information! I’d like to see research on relationship of cortisol or other hormones causing ectopics. I have a lot of PVC’s . I use a Kardia monitor. I’ve been checked by cardiologist and EP doctor
I was recently diagnosed with gastritis. I think it was the cause of all my health issues- heartburn, chest pain, weakness, nausea, poor vitamin and mineral absorption. I began to take Florastor and go on a carnivore diet, and it has improved my health. I wish I would have known before having my ablation done. Even after ablation I still get skipped beats and have weakness. I think my issues were digestive issues. When I avoid carbs I get less palpitations.
why the ablation had done for you? Is it that becuz holter shows many of them? I have gastritis too and having PVC since then.. I hope you're in great health now! Best regards
@@mohalsh99 Because the skipped beats were interfering with my life. They would come on, and I would feel weak. I thought there was something wrong with my heart. Unfortunately, I didnt have someone to guide me. I think the heart doctor took advantage of me and made me agree to an expensive procedure I didnt need. More than likely the real issue was gastritis, and a diet high in sugar. (I had been vegan for a few months.)
My palpitations started end of 2023 and had a few more episodes before last week. When they came back again and haven’t stoped for seven days straight. I’ve been to the ER twice they sent me with a heart monitor saying everything looks good. I have a hard time sleeping because I hear my heart beat all night long and my heart rate seems to stall in the mid seventies never reaching my normal resting heart rate. I’m so exhausted, anxious and tired. Listening to this kind cardiologist has helped ease my anxiety a lot. I still have no answers to why this is happening to me. I just entered menopause and I wonder if that could be a factor. I have cardiologist and endocrinologist appointment this coming March. I pray these palpitations ease and go away soon. Thank you doctor for your reassuring explanations.
I had SVTs for 8 years....started gradually at once every 3 months then once a month then once a week then every day...had all the tests and monitoring...took meds...increased meds...then finally had catheter ablation by Dr. Nath here in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Was the best thing I ever did. I feel like a normal human being again. After 8 years I'm so thankful every day. No meds...normal HR and BP. True miracle. You have helped me with my questions over the past year and I'm truly grateful!!!!
Justin Delacerda I either walk 3 miles a day or use different machines at a fitness center for 30 minutes, or if weather is bad I do Utube exercises 30 minutes a day. I'm very active throughout the day but not highly active with weights or running.
Justin Delacerda More pronounced before my ablation and now less pronounced. I no longer have SVTs (supra ventricular tachycardia) any longer since my ablation. Only once in a while I feel like a skip of a heartbeat. I was afraid to have the ablation at first but so glad I had it now. I feel my heart is stronger since.
Other than feeling weird, mechanically from a pumping perspective this is not a problem: the first early beat means that the ventricle wasn't filled yet, but since typical ejection fraction is 67%, it will simply result in a higher ejection fraction, so now the ventricle is really empty. Thats why the second beat feels like a missed beat, just takes longer to fill ventricle from empty to full vs 33% to full.
Questions: 1. Why does my blood pressure go up when I have etopics. I usually have them for 4-5 days (all day) off and on, at a time with my normally low blood pressure going higher. 2. Am I getting light headed from the anxiety or the palpitations? 3. Do the palpitations in themselves cause a release of adrenaline?
I’m having so many pvc’s in the last week, I did the ecg that was normal and waiting on my holter results I am so scared but this video calms me a lot!
Ectopics have ruined the last 20 years of my life, and continue to since they seem to be getting more frequent. That being said, Dr Gupta is literally THE only reassurance I’ve ever had about this very specific condition. And the fact that he freely gives this information especially via free web-chats is just astounding. God bless this man 10x over 😭
God Bless you my brother! May Our Lord Heal us all, 🙏🏼❤️
He's a great man
Same here😢and now mine are getting worse, family members think I’m crazy-I’m so thankful for this Dr!
Try liquid hawthorn - salus hawthorn plant juice is very good . Also, magnesium and potassium. Takes a month or two, but
it works.
Good luck 👍
Thank you so much!
he's either gone through cardiophobia or is a pure genius. He talks about them like he really really knows how it feels
You have no idea what these videos mean to me!
yes I know what you mean I get days where they don't let up all day long and it is awful.
@@adinashenry5474 Its crazy how often i get them and i am one of the lucky ones who feels every single one of them. gets tiring to be honest. glad i am not alone!!
Truly an example of a doctor who does what he does selflessly because he loves what he does.
Agreed!
The feeling is terrifying indeed. Watching these videos are reassuring.
Same!
My cardiologist told me to go look up my valve issue. No explanation ...

Xrakers X did your heart ever shoot up to about 130 after your felt one
I can't believe that this is the first time in 8 months that my questions are answered. And I have been seeing cardiologists and experts in arrhythmias. No video editing here. Pure 19 minutes of great information. I watch all your videos. Thank you and Hello from a Russian from Canada.
I was just told to do whatever I wanted without restriction.
this man deserves the money he charges for the monitors, i'd love to support him.

It definitely has been reassuring though sometimes I keep worrying and feeling like maybe I need more tests. A man who is selfishly making a HUGE impact on millions of people.
Thank you sir.
Thankyou . After 30 years finally a cardiologist who can explain the problem in simple terms and your reassurance is very comforting.
Spot on !
Seeing cardiologist tomorrow for Echo results so if she says all good, I’ll feel a lot more reassured too after your explanation of what they look for in an echo 👍🏻
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos - much appreciated.
My electrophysiologist said he's had one patient in 25 years develope a weak heart from etopics and was fixed with ablation. It's rare, but I'm running out of patients with these for the past 7 years. Lucky it started at 57 and not 17 like some. It's hard enough handling it at this age.
Ectopics
I swear I love this guy! Thanks for taking the time to explain these things to us worried HUMANS
Best. Denis
I don't care what they say, you're a hell of a doctor and a great resource for many of us. Cheers!
As a nurse your incredible bedside manner is very refreshing. You have an empathy which can be very rare in Drs these days. I love these videos, not only because they are more personally relevant as I go through some of the testing Dr. Sanjay mentions but also because he is perhaps the most authentic doctor I have seen in most of my decades old life.
Fats Torvolay I had a very similar experience! False positive stress test and wide open arteries on angiogram
@Danaos: do you worry about cardio workouts ? Have you been cleared to do cardiovascular exercise ? Very happy to hear you are doing well.

If you read about them, there's no proof that eating has anything to do with them. Really ? Well I'm afraid it does, because it does me too. Depends, because it's not all the time. Some experts say, don't try to identify triggers because it doesn't work, and I do believe that !

You are so warm Dr Sanjay, your insight and time of voice surely calms a restless palpitations. Thank you so so much.
Exactly - did you ever find the answer??
Good to see you back Dr. Gupta as I so enjoy your videos and find them mostly reassuring .
thanks monika!
Thank you for your altruism.
how lovely .. it is you i should be thankful to. You dont know how much you do for me with the love and support you give me
What a fantastic and honest and very deep video about this topic.
Good luck and good health to all.
i do try and answer when i can but sometimes it gets overwhelming:-(
That's perfectly understandable.
Thank you!
Thanks for another great video! You've answered a lot of my questions and reassured me.
how kind.. thanks george:-)
Dr. GUPTA! So grateful for all your videos!!
Your uploads are a pleasure to watch ...Extremely informative and always reassuring ...a very big THANK YOU Doctor
And thank you gain for sharing your wisdom and knowledge
This certainly assures me that my persistent ectopics do not mean imminient death; I have no other symptoms, and will be visiting a cardiologist in 3 weeks, to review my echocardiogram. In the meantime, I will continue to walk 10 miles/day (no ill effects) and attempt to consume a gallon of water/day, along with the copius nutriceuticals that my kinesioligist advises... THANK YOU, Dr. Gupta, for reassuring me that I won't die in the near future!
Will losing weight stop irregular heartbeats if 60 to 75 pounds overweight?
thank you for your videos and reassurance..My Dr put me on Propranolol for severe headaches but instead of helping with them they have all but stopped my ectopic beats so maybe they could possibly help others..I am only on 5mg a day..
Thank you so much for this information. It really helps alleviate my anxiety.
You are a compassionate and caring doctor! I wish you were in New York!!
Thank you so much for explaining this to me. You don't realise how much this meant
I'm so glad I solved my ectopic heartbeats. Thanks for the info. Really appreciate your time explaining these things.
you are most welcome Jim
@@YorkCardiology plz respond
How did you solve them Jim? Mine have just started and they’re freaking me out 😢
@@danangdevils
For you, I have no idea about your medical history and/or your health status, so cannot give you any advice.
Doctor i get tingling in my hands n legs
my cardiologist told to see neurologist. It is so
why do they fell different sometimes they just feel like pause and start back up sometimes they pause with the thump after but sometimes they cause a stomach drop feeling and hot flash and make you feel like it took your breath for a second
How long have you had it for
How are u
maybe because you're getting PACs and PVCs. I get both and PACs feel like a small flutter, but the PVCs have more energy. In either case they're both not dangerous and it's a slow but sure process getting rid of the fear of them :)
This is exactly my question sometimes they feel worse than others
This helps me so much I’m getting pvcs all day everyday and I’m so scared I won’t leave the house it’s messing with my everyday life I been two 5 heart drs and I feel like they all dismiss how I feel and always tell me not to worry about it this Dr reinsurers you and is very clear on what’s going on and that helps thank you so much
how many you have daily ectopi ?
How are you doing now?
This doctor is a Godsend.. ty brother fro helping people..
You are the best Dr. Gupta.. thank you , this is great info 👍
I wish I would of met you long ago to tell you that your 100% correct
@@mohalsh99 Because the skipped beats were interfering with my life. They would come on, and I would feel weak. I thought there was something wrong with my heart. Unfortunately, I didnt have someone to guide me. I think the heart doctor took advantage of me and made me agree to an expensive procedure I didnt need. More than likely the real issue was gastritis, and a diet high in sugar. (I had been vegan for a few months.)
I was diagnosed with that to gastric
Thank you. We need so much reassurance when experiencing ectopic. I am taking a high magnesium and a banana for potassium. I find this helps.
Thank you SO much for the new video... Will watch now. Have a wonderful week. A California PVC sufferer☹
Hey fellow cali pvc person ☺
Thank you so much for making this informative video. I am much reassured by your explanation.
You are a lifesaver. Literally. And figuratively. Thank you so much. 🌹
how lovely thank you!
Magnesium Glycinate, 300 mg each night. Thats what I use. It's the most effective type of magnesium.
That was very interesting and answered important questions for me regarding hydration. Many thanks,
I had SVTs for 8 years....started gradually at once every 3 months then once a month then once a week then every day...had all the tests and monitoring...took meds...increased meds...then finally had catheter ablation by Dr. Nath here in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Was the best thing I ever did. I feel like a normal human being again. After 8 years I'm so thankful every day. No meds...normal HR and BP. True miracle. You have helped me with my questions over the past year and I'm truly grateful!!!!
Are you very active? As in, lifting weight, running, etc?
Justin Delacerda
I either walk 3 miles a day or use different machines at a fitness center for 30 minutes, or if weather is bad I do Utube exercises 30 minutes a day. I'm very active throughout the day but not highly active with weights or running.
@@carolbenson6524 How has exercise affected your heart? Were your sensations more or less pronounced?
Justin Delacerda
More pronounced before my ablation and now less pronounced. I no longer have SVTs (supra ventricular tachycardia) any longer since my ablation. Only once in a while I feel like a skip of a heartbeat. I was afraid to have the ablation at first but so glad I had it now. I feel my heart is stronger since.
this Doctor is God sent….
Thank you for this video I live with an Irregular Heart Shortness of breath and have passed out at work& home.
Really interesting and informative Doc. Thank you.
thanks frank!
