I’m experiencing heart palpitations and I can tell you they are very frightening the first time I had one I honestly thought I was having a heart attack but I think I’ve found the reason why I’m having them as a long time drinker of fizzy drinks and caffeine oriented drinks I think that is what is causing it so if anyone can offer some help as to what alternatives I can have that will not only help but maybe either strengthen or help my heart to be more healthy?
I am 70 years of age. Since at the age of 16 years I felt my first palpitations. It scares me... but I got accustomed. In the past I used Inderal 10mg, then went onto Inderal 40mg. Now I use Atenolol Denk 50mg. My grandmother now deceased sufferd with same & in my family line it came down to some of us. Would really love it to just stop.
any thoughts with heart and systemic issues with the covid vaccine? it is crazy they mandated this for younger healthy people especially with a rise in myocarditis. Hopefully it is all reversible.
I have a symptom where any sudden movements I make or even when i am working out lightly in the gym my heart will pound excessively and over react to the stimulus at hand. I've been to several cardiologist and they've all said Im fine, but this symptom causes me a ton of fear. Can you give me some insight on this anyone or has anybody dealt with this symptom?
Me too man i get this when i suddenly woke up from lying and when urinating too sometimes when urinating the palpitations are disturbs most. Im on bp medications when i passed out few months ago after that occurence this palpitations are moslty noticable. Hope everything is fine with you. Im getting echo asap to rule out any problems.
Yeah me too.. not so long ago i was out running 10km as if it was nothing. Now my chest becomes tight whenever i go out for a run. I gained 6kgs in 3months because of my medication. Im hoping its just the weight.
I get feeling in my heart that it skipped a beat and then beats really strong. my beating rhythm is normal though. But major problem i have is that i worry so much about my palpitations that it happens more and more often:( when I don’t pay any attention or I’m working out, it rarely happens, but i worry alot and it bothers me :(
V K exactly, it happens to me as well. Sometimes i even fear i might suffocate or my air ways will close, i also checked my thyroid, throat and lungs, again they couldn’t find anything. Turns out my anxiety makes me experience those symptoms and because i fear the symptom, it becomes worse. I found an amazing psychologist John Glanvill, i would recommend you to search for his channel on UA-cam. He explains those fears pretty well. It helped me realize my problem and calm down..
Dr Gupta, what is you opinion on stress and anxiety causing documented multifocal pvcs from both ventricals (3 different morphologies) and also causing couplets..do you think this is possible or would you expect an underlying condition to cause this?
I am 21. A few years ago I went to my doctor about getting palpitations, I was quite stressed at the time and worn out. I was sent to the hospital for a cardiogram which I had done... they also gave me an ultrasound of my heart which I was told was normal. I was told "yes something is abnormal but don't worry about it". That was literally it. Since then I have had a few palpitations on and off. This weekend I had a very stressful, tiring journey after some bad nights sleep and, got them very badly. I can tell for certain my palpitations are related to me being tired and stressed. Please do you have some advice for these circumstances. I do not want to have a panic attack and end up in A&E... I know I need rest which is sometimes tough because of my anxiety, but any other tips for helping?
Abbie Roberts I have the same issue as you (28 years) I have a structurally normal heart but PVCs and a lot of health anxiety. It's helpful to have someone to vent to that understands. If you're still having an issue, let me know :)
That's sweet thank you. Funnily enough I haven't had any in quite a while now. My stress levels are a lot lower and I worry about my heart less. I think that makes a bug difference.
Abbie Roberts so funny how that happens. I've had them for 12 years now and at first they were troublesome, but I eventually learned to live with them and they really decreased in frequency and intensity. The last year has been an anxious one for me and the PVCs make sure I know it. I'm glad to hear that you aren't struggling with them anymore.
Like anything else - after a while 1 of each no longer is enough. Man - I have had to add Magnesium Taurate. I haven’t figured out my trigger - if I did - I’d be better off.
Thank you doctor for all the work you do to give us this information. However this video keeps stalling on me, about the midway point. So I have no clue what you’re saying after that unfortunately.

Do you recommend any form of magnesium? I read that a 'triple calm' version is best - what do you think? My flutters are quite consistent and full-on, making me feet tight-chested and short of breath. I have no reason whatsoever to be anxious, I work from home for our family business, which my husband runs. I walk my dogs each morning, also do Crossfit, so I'm not out of shape, so no idea why they've started. Pending results of my 7-day Holter. ECG is okay.
Hi Doc! You mentioned something related to magnesium and potassium and I’m sure I’m not spelling it right because it’s not populating anything. Can you please tell me what it was? Sounded like “serimyan” 💗 also I don’t know if it’s just me but your video froze about halfway thru and produces no sound or video when skipping ahead but when going back, it’s normal.
Another great video. I have palpitations for about 12 hours about every 14 days. I have taken betablockers but they made me worse beta slows down, mind you it's not that fast in the first stage but more irregular, during the second stage of my 'episode' my heart goes slow a it 50 to 60 bpm. That's when I get on the tread mill and try and take my heart rate up to at least 130 for 5 or 10 mins and I go back into sinus. What I was wondering is why I am getting this regularly every 14 days. Its baffling, are there any body rthymns that might trigger it off?
Do you have a video addressing this? I would be interested in knowing more about hormone related palpitations. Thank you for this series of videos, very helpful information!

I've had this feeling in my chest, almost like butterflies, or the feel you get on a roller coaster drop. Now, today, they have been extremely frequent. Hey Dr. I have a big question. Please reply I need your help thank you. So I've been having palpitation or I could feel my heartbeating when Im sitting down or specialy when Im laying down. It doesnt matter what im laying on wheather its on the floor or my bed I could really feel it beating. I had Ekg test, and blood test but comes up all normal. A month ago I was really stressing about my headache that I had and constanly thinking about it every single day. Then I started waking up ofthen throughout the night and started doing lots and lots of research. When I went to the doctors, it was a migrane and since then when I lay in bed I been waking up atleast once every single night for about 2 and a half months now. And now Im feeling my heartbeating everytime I lay down. My doctor listened to my heartbeat when I layed down and sitting down he said it was all normal. What do I do and what do you think I can do to stop this palpitation. Thank you, harold

Truly outstanding! Thank you for your priceless advice Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!
You're being to hypersensitivity brother, its happened to me. I'm in my recovery phase of anxiety. I would always check my pulse or my BP 24/7. The best remedy of anxiety is acceptance of your symptoms and to face mortality. Everyone here in the world carries their morality. Its either quantity of life of quality. If you keep on worrying and just survive day by day you are looking at quantity life which isn't very helpful but if you strive to see the positive things in each day and ay least try to smile and laugh with friends and family you are using your life for quality. Quality will overcome your anxieties. Accept the symptoms once your doc said everything is okay, do some exposure therapy and CBT and you will overcome it day by day!
I have the same. I smoked cigarettes and abused cocaine and alcohol heavily for years and a couple months ago I quit everything because I thought I was having a heart attack and collapsed and hit my head, I had a few EKGs done and they didn’t find any problems but it triggered so much anxiety that I feel my heartbeat pounding most of the time and it feels as if it’s rattling my whole body. I’m only 24 and I’m worried I have done a lot of damage to my body and I won’t get away from this feeling. It’s the wake up call I needed to make big lifestyle changes, I just hope I get the second chance and I can get better.🙏🏻
@KKmies watch this UA-cam channel called "Academy of Ideas" that's a start also just put yourself out there. Meet new ppl at work, go out and join community work do the little things man .
It is very reassuring when you said that you would more likely find it abnormal for someone to go 24 hours without an ectopic beat. That's a better way of looking at it.
I don't know if this helps any, I am not a medical professional but someone who gets what you're describing. I have been told by a psychologist that our subconscious brain is actually very active while we sleep and it processes at night the things that we think/and worry about the most during our waking hours. She said panic attacks at night are actually more common than one might think. That knowledge helped me, just to know that.. but maybe see your doctor if you need clarification or testing? God bless you
I'm 17 and I just starting getting these a few days ago to the point where it's noticable I pray to God that I'm ok and that he keeps me safe same for everyone who clicked on this video due to the Same problem
These are ruining my life... i get mine while relaxing... either laying on the couch a certain way or when i am laying in bed a certain way... so annoying! I never get them during activity. Feels like my heart stutters... or i will take a deep breath and i will get a big one. (While relaxing like i said) I also dont feel stressed
Thanks for continuing to be a voice of reason and clarity on the issue. It took me a long time of research and reading in the 90s to find the information you're sharing now. The good news is that people can overcome the cycle of fear/adrenaline/fear and lead more normal lives without the constant worry and stress of the sensation of those beats and the fear that comes from feeling that sensation.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! Ever since I saw that alien movie, dark skies, things were going downhill fast. I was so scared to sleep in my room I would either sleep with the lights on or not sleep at all (not joking). Then my ribs near the chest area started to hurt so I thought I was having heart trouble but turns out the cartilage on the breastplate was inflamed on both sides of the chest to the point where I couldn't poke it because it burned so much. I remember leaving the hospital ready to punch anything in my way until I start watch your videos.

@@aghfryy6879 I take anxiety medication and I'm happily back to the old me and I take magnesium taurate and pottasium but still have heart palpations but it's not that bad as before
Hi Dr Sanjay Gupta! First off I'd like to thank you for your videos, they're very informative, and I thought I'd let you know you're appreciated. I first started experiencing palpitations in 2011, where I went to the hospital and had a potassium reading of 2.6 and was sent home with two tablets, got my potassium checked later and they were borderline low, 3.5.. the doctor thought that reading was normal. I have now seen a cardiologist and done a stress test and I am due for an ultra sound in one week. However, I am continuing experiencing these palpitations quite regularly, even during strenuous exercise. My stress test showed no irregularities, I had to bike for 12 minutes, should I wear a holter or event monitor to be sure that my palpitations are benign, or should I rest assured that these are benign if my cardiologist says so after a stress test and ultrasound?
prockzz if your potassium has been low then it is possible that your magnesium will also be low and this could be why you get the palps. Worth having a holter (just to be absolutely reassured that they don't represent an abnormal heart rhythm)and asking your doctor about your magnesium levels and whether it is worth taking some supplementation
@@YorkCardiology how do you prevent your potassium and magnesium from getting low other than supplementation. I mean can you use up these minerals faster when stressed? I notice my heartbeat when I lie down. It isnt fast just louder than normal, and breathing deeply doesnt calm me down or help me sleep. I do keto and taking magnesium citrate doesnt seem to do anything. I also have potasium citrate which tastes aweful. also what about sodium?

How many ectopic beats per day would you consider within normal range - 200, 300, up to a thousand? Would it not be taxing on the left ventricular muscle to have this extra expansion often? (I have normal, healthy heart, but am greatly bothered by these beats.)

I want to thank you soooooo much for your input on this subject.I am a34 yr old male.My resting heart rate is about 48bpm and my BP is normal 120/70.I am recently going through hell these past two weeks.Ive had PVC"s before and they usually go away within a day .I am a drinker and I get massive pvcs the day ater I drink.I usually Hydrate myself and walk around the track and they go away.I broke my leg a month ago and had surgery to fix it and I have been on bed rest or a while.I did drink for a couple days due to being down and out.One morning I woke up and had a bunch of pvcs in the shower. Now im having them all day no matter what im doing. Its been going on for two weeks straight and im so nervous.I tried walking around the neighborhood to get the heart pumping and the pvcs come very strong when i walk.I cant seem to do anything with pvcs coming on.Im so close to giving up on life.Im scared I just had my first son and hes gonna need me to be there for him.The worst part is that i lost my job due to leg accident and I also lost my insurance so im screwed. My Pvc's come at any heart rate and they dont induce my heart rate.I was also diagnosed in 2001 with a slight ventricle enlargement.Usually at bed rest I dont seem to get them as much. Please help .

I have a symptom where any sudden movements I make or even when i am working out lightly in the gym my heart will pound excessively and over react to the stimulus at hand. I've been to several cardiologist and they've all said Im fine, but this symptom causes me a ton of fear. Can you give me some insight on this anyone or has anybody dealt with this symptom?

V K anxiety makes us experience crazy symptoms. Even though there’s nothing physically wrong with us .. i checked my heart too, they said its fine.

Brilliant videos! Love to you and your family
+Abbie Roberts hi abbie..i'd be happy to help you in any way i can..perhaps the best way to chat would be via my website or fb page
Thank you! I will message your fb page, what is the link please?
I got my holter monitor back and it has some pvcs there but doc said it’s nothing alarming or dangerous

Ohh btw: I excersie atleast 4-5 times a week for about 1 hour everyday.
try the breathing exercise - slow your breathing to 1 breath in and out every 10 seconds for 5 minutes and that should get rid of it

Where is that part 2 plzz tell me
anyone else notice their heart beat out of their shirt slightly
