      @@SicilianStealth Dude I know that. I recently visited the Moynihan Hall and I admit, they did a somewhat decent job at replicating the original. Though not nearly as magnificent, it’s still a massive improvement. I heard they’re now removing those beam columns on the ceiling. About time. Now if only old Port Authority Bus Terminal could get the same treatment.

    One early Saturday morning in the spring of 1997, I treated myself to an LIRR ride from Penn Station to Long Beach. I thought I'd died and gone to HEAVEN, the trip was so beautiful. The return trip, which you captured just as BEAUTIFULLY here, was nearly as memorable. Thank you, DJ, for reminding me of it in this post.

    • @jimmyboy131
      @jimmyboy131 4 роки тому +1

      At least New York has very good public transportation. Yes I say very good because I have plenty of experience (as a frequent visitor) and I come from a place on the West coast that doesn't have that. Believe me, what you have in NY is light years better than a fragmented or non-existing public transportation system.

    • @jimmyboy131
      @jimmyboy131 4 роки тому +1

      @AriesAreTheBest Yeah I totally believe you. My perspective is that a real, active public transportation infrastructure is better than none. Corruption is everywhere, unfortunately. I just hope NYC area can recover from all this recent craziness, including the public transportation system.
      Selfishly, I'd like to be able to continue visiting again. As things are now, I have no plans to go back. And honestly I miss it.

    • @acmenipponair
      @acmenipponair 4 роки тому

      You all are plain wrong. Yes, there maybe have been some express trains on that branch from Long Island to Penn Station.
      But the nature of the line has changed: in the 1900s the line was made so that the New Yorkers could travel to a day at the beach. Nowadays it's a commuter train. And for a commuter train not the speed is important, but how many services they have. More services on the line means less speed, because you don't want a train to catch up to the train ahead.

    • @soundshaper
      @soundshaper 4 роки тому

      @AriesAreTheBest Back in the day, you hopped the turnstile or pulled it backward and slipped past it. The old wooden ones, I was too small to hop so I went under those, lol. And this when fares were 35 cents.

      They cant since the LB branch is electrified so the diesel engines are not necessary. I lived in LB at the time of hurricane sandy and my family and I had to leave to brooklyn since it was so bad. It was quite a while until we were able to go back.

    I've noticed that sometimes the third rail is on the right, while other times it runs on the left of the train. Does the conductor have to "do" anything to switch the feet over, or do all trains have them on both sides all the time?

    • @brianbirnbaum7391
      @brianbirnbaum7391 2 роки тому +1

      No the trains have 3rd rail pick-up shoes on both sides and neither the conductor nor the engineer need to do anything about that. This older M3 model EMU does not transfer power between cars however, so you notice the HVAC cuts out periodically (the lights in the car do too but not captured on video) as this front car goes over a gap in third rail , and cuts back in when a shoe contacts it again.

      It's legal if you're filming it for personal use, which I'm pretty sure includes this, anything else you need a permit. But nonetheless all Path trains are the PA5s which give no accessto the front window because the engineer closes the door blocking it.

      @Renz-O It's also illegal to just have a camera out on the Path system.

    • @acmenipponair
      @acmenipponair 4 роки тому +1

      It's a commuter train. Why should it go much faster than 60 to 70 miles? The train has to stop all three minutes and in 11:00 he already overshoots a platform, because he's too fast :D

      It looks much slower then it is, it only takes around 40 mins to get to pen station, this line especially the stops are close so they don't got as fast but on others there faster, but I do agree we have slow trains.

    Is it necessary to wear a mask in the US in all transit systems like it is here in Germany since April? If you do not, you must pay like you have no ticket for the trip...
