4K/60p: LIRR M3 Front Window Penn Station to Ronkonkoma

- Taken 4/20/23. With vacation from Work, made my way to the City after spending some time in Montauk in the morning. Hitched some M3's during the evening rush on #1064 back to Ronkonkoma and securing another full RFW in the process. It's a slow start out of the tunnel as we kept getting hit with Advanced Approach signals until Harold. Enjoy!

Amazing, the M3s are definitely the best for these RFW videos!!!
Awesome
....:) Nice Ride, Very Enjoyable and Smooth...!!!......Thanks for the Share....!!!!.....🤩🤩🤩
Amazing! The amount of action between Penn and Jamaica was so good, along with the air train and the 7!!!! Thanks for capturing this. Rush hour on the LIRR never disappoints.
Thanks for posting. Lotta people make fun of the LIRR, but I find it impressive. 1. The sheer complexity of the NYP to Jamaica physical plant. 2. the timing of trains at Jamaica station. 3. the extent of 3rd rail electrification out to Ronkonkoma 4. All those nice Smoooooth moveable frog switches 5. the surprising amount of freight traffic .
Very well agree. Thanks!
I'll never stop telling you,
Phenomenal work as always!
You keep posting them!
I'll keep clicking them!
Great video. This is a photographer's "magic hour". Low sun, clear blue skies and even more, the sun at your back. I'm sure those windows had crazing but it wasn't visible without sunlight on the windows. Good ride.
MTA Long Island Railroad, going your way!!!
Fabulous video! Great quality. Thank you.
Another Great M3 RFW classic from you. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Hope we meet up the end of May at Westhampton for the start of this summer's Cannonball season.
Already got the 26th in the books! See you there!
As a kid, I would be at Jamaica to wait for the Cannonball to arrive Trk 8 and stand at Hall's end of the platform. That train was so long, Hall would clear them to foul that signal and interlocking by 3 cars and 2 Alco locos. Man what a show as they would notch up and give that smoke show as both Alcos pulling hard a combo of old Pennsylvania heavy weights 3 axle cars and long 3 axle Parlor cars with a parlor observation at the end. In the busy part of the summer more cars were added. 3 Locos was the normal for power 🚆👍
great train ride to RONKONKOMA, LONG ISLAND.🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋
That’s the best thing about the M3s, the engineers usually leave the cab door open, so you have a good view of the controls, and makes for some good content!
Problem is if they have the door open (which they technically can't unless authorized by 204) then you need permission to record. It comes down to who you know, how you ask, and whether they say yes, or no.
@@MrMaster767 Oh, but I thought filming is legal in MTA Premises according to NYCT Rules of Conduct States : 1050.9. Which means that photography, filming or video recording in any facility or conveyance is permitted except that ancillary equipment such as lights, reflectors or tripods may not be used.
It is. It's just getting harder to do M3 RFWs with some new technology in the way.
@@MrMaster767 True lol
Dziękujemy.
Really Great video !!! Thank you MrMaster!!!
Thank you very much!
Love all of your rfw videos. Keep them coming!
Will do!
Love it!!
Thanks!
The M3s are great, you get to see out the front & have a great view #lirrm3saregreat
Absolutely!
16:13 epic train moment
Great trip!!! 👏👏👏👏
Thank you!!! 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent Work as usual
Excellent..
Amazing!
Thanks!
MY LINE! Yeah baby! I can't believe i found my line as , & after i was Just commented about it on the Freeport video. Thank you! Any chance of the Oyster Bay line bro?
Great Run. I miss the day's when all that territory was all Alco power. Before electrification. ✌👍
The memories!
Your videos are the best! 😃🚊
Thank you!
12:20 5 way meet 😮
Thanks for the great upload! That individual that crossed that the tracks at around 51 minutes that was crazy. I am pretty sure that’s not how it should work??
That Block Operator was playing too much Railroad. I saw that switch go from reverse to normal. Setting them up for a collision course. Then back to reverse. Smh, i like how you put the aspect of that High Low Home in the corner of the video. Good stuff. I’ve always loved that M3 horn as well as the Alarm
The Signal won't display. Might have been a mistake. As long as the signal isn't displayed. You can change switches without displaying a signal.
@@MrMaster767 yes but still. That other train was crossing right in front. That was insane
@@MrMaster767 I also move trains in an urban transportation agency and NEVER have I EVER seen this. And trust me… I’ve seen a whole lot. Even on the LIRR. But not on a crossover move. Nah. Doesn’t matter if that High Low home didn’t clear. That’s an interlocking. That’s insane Bro.
Great rfw but I never rode Budd M3 cars. But keep up the good work.
Thanks!
This makes me so glad I live in the country in a great state of Indiana. Miles away from anybody… can hear a train 3 miles away ..makes me sleepy ..no way I would live there though. That’s depressing. How do they make any money? They don’t pick up very many passengers!
Indiana is so far behind, you have ancient Amtrak trains, mile long freight trains, and a depressing 3rd world rural landscape. All you people do is drive around in cars on narrow roads and highways. Life is dull and boring in Indiana, all the cities there are rust belt and run down, so much that you have to tune into New York just to see humanity and people who live in the present and future, that are thriving and making 5 times your income.
Kudos on a most enjoyable video ! BTW, was that a consist of M7's and M3's joined at the hip just outside the Hillside Facility?
Great video. I am in NY in a week. I need to get from Manhattan/Times Square to Westbury on a Thursday evening. Would the LIRR be the best transport out there and back?
Plan out what works best for you!
What's all the construction about after exiting the tunnel around the 10:00 minutes mark? Are there other projects at work? And what does Advanced Approach mean?
how fast are these trains going?
At the 37:00 mark, is that Mineola station with the Oyster Bay branch off?
Price for round trip?? First time
It’s all double track now to Ronkonkoma? When did that happen!
I'm an amateur when it comes to trains. Can someone please tell me what the ringing bell is for?
Short bells are the alerter. Long bells mean the speed code is dropping.
@@MrMaster767 Thank You Sir.
Is it the equivalent of the AWS that is on British Railways then
12:30 Blinking Red means what exactly? 22:30 wow counting down the trains arrival to the second? what is this Japan?
Is that the same tunnel that the Acela uses?
I believe Line 2 they use.
are these diesel trains? cant see overhead wires ??
No. Electrically 3rd Rail powered.
Long dwell at Jamaica.
What line is this?
This is Mainline. Carries Oyster Bay, Port Jeff and Ronkonkoma branch customers!
If I could not be with you, my days but like a shock - of substitute vibrations - libations to a clock; Would to the end my bones excite denied rejuvenation - or ever twice begrudge the loss of similar sensation?
No mine is but the love of luck as whole life will insist; one more upon a lip to feed would sorely be unmissed. If what I know is paramount I'd scatter all its beans; the way in truth few good hearts beat in tandem with our queens.
There's the proof unprophecied of loss and libertines; painted by computers like some promissary scenes. A dog right now that I may pat would multiply no cost; I would not pass you by for days as sweated for the lost.
When hope is but my memory beside to energize; I'd wish you better all the more and twinkle for that prize. I cannot say you'd know the peace at last innocence heard. Formalities more practical survived worse than a bird.
Too bad that the scenery was not all that great when they were starting out.
I'm sorry but until you got way out into the suburbs, the scenery was utterly depressing. a 1st class, financial city should have modern infrastructure, fast modern trains. As a West Coaster, I feel sad for NYC, that compared to the modern European, Japanese, and Chinese systems, it's a total shame how this country has neglected its rail network. I've never seen so much rust and decay in a rail system as I've just seen here. New Yorkers deserve better because they are citizens of a great city. You should have faster trains to shorten your commute times. I have you in my heart !!
oh the trains are fine, we can get from one station to the next with the subways within a little over a minute if you’re only talking about the city, but if you go wayyy out to the eastern side of long island then yeah that’s where the speed kinda just fades out because you’re traveling longer distances and the Long Island Rail Road mainly takes around an hour using the Ronkonkoma line to get to the big city from the middle of the island and vice versa. however if you’re someone by montauk and take the Montauk branch/line it’ll take you 3 OR 4 HOURS!!! now compare that to china who can travel from Beijing to Hong Kong in ONLY 6-8 HOURS!!! and for us Americans it would take literally a day or 3 to travel that distance on train. So yeah if you’re only traveling on short distances sure it’s effective but long distances? hell nah… the only real most effective train line that exists is the north east corridor with our fastest train from Boston to Washington… everything else in the US is not going to be a very fast or easy trip using train if we compare it to other places.
You are on the west coast discussing east coast transit and mobility. You guys depend on freeways which are always jammed with cars, buses, and trucks. Your rail networks are the most outdated and depressing out west. They don't even have electrification. The trains out west use the push and pull method. You seem fixated on non-American transit services, maybe you should go live there and ride their trains.
My favorite part is the absurdly slow “walking speed” of the train as it approaches Hicksville.
Not another train in sight yet the train has to travel at essentially 5 mph approaching Hicksville.
Absurd and outdated. This is where even a little extra time added ends up adding to one’s already long commute.
LIRR switching and approach speeds remain outdated and the worst in the nation.
