This whirlpool washer would not work with cold water. Water pressure is good and valve was getting power. Water valve was needed for repair. We replaced it and all is well with the world again. Thanks for watching and like and subscribe!

Thanks! Was about to buy new machine but fixed with $9 valve. Also replaced my black rubber hose that had some gunk as well with steel braided. Works great!

How about the temp selector switch as well can u do a videos on how to check that?
To get you running temporarily for cold water only, just switch hoses.
Only down side is rinse cycle cause it's hot/cold warm/cold or cold/cold water settings
That works until the rinse cycle calls for both hot and cold solenoids to open up then won't advance any further

Help with diagnosis please? Older Whirlpool washer has very little cold water coming in. As initial diagnostic steps I disconnected the hoses, ran them down the drain, and verified water is coming out. Good. So next I swapped the hoses so hot water was connected to cold input and cold water was connected to hot input. Tried again and there’s still almost no cold water. Thoughts?

Thoughts please..... Whirlpool WTW5100VQ2. Top load about 6 years old. Standard simple washer with no whistle or bells. Long ago the hot side stopped working. This was due to water dept flushing city lines. Cleaned screen and the warm would work. Over time that stopped. Been on cold since. Did a load last night and all was fine. Put cloths in today and started and no water. Looked at screen and was fine. Washer will spin and door switch is fine. Now NO water goes into washer and I hear nothing, no hum etc. In addition both inlet motors oddly look like water has been splahing on them so they are rusted bad. Wild guess, inlet valve issue?
Check power to know for sure it’s getting there. If you get power and no water your looking at your valve. As long as you have good water pressure at the wall though. Got to check it or you can get burnt on purchasing unnecessary parts. If no power it could be the timer or temp switch. More common of the 2 but more expensive problem is your timer. Have to do power checks to make sure though.
@@BeardedApplianceRepair Thanks for thoughts. I have worked on electronics since the 80's so I understand what you say. Just not so much washers hands on. I get time in my 12hr work shifts I'll check power. I assumed as much that the timer is high dollar. Most stuff with such is. If it would be that than value of washer vs part is not worth vs new washer. So voltages wise on the inlet wire is that gonna be ac or stepped down to dc output? Have a clue about what the voltages should read at? I do find it odd all a sudden the cold will not work vs 24hrs prior it did when did a load. Course I think I mentioned long ago my hot side stopped working. That and I do know the left and right pistons I think they are called are really rusted out. That is due to long ago better half overloaded the washer for weeks till I caught on. It was splashing water over inlet and down back. Pulled washer out and under side was rusted out and floor soaked. The washer was brought new and taken care of except her overloading it. But yes, I will start with voltages but await reply to see if you know about what them voltages should be and ac or dc starting at the inlet water valve. I guess on a plus side if you turn the dial to spin it will take off and spin cycle just no water lol. As for water pressure it is very good and clean water till water dept flushes lines.
On the older washers everything is ran off of 120vac. So yeah just check for that. Sounds like it’s your valve and one part for both hot and cold water. Probably your cheapest option. They don’t make washers like that anymore. If you can afford it and if it’s in decent shape. If your frame is rusting out it’s not worth it. Well as long as the rust is serious enough. If you have surface rust I would not worry. Fix it if you can. That’s my recommendation.
@@BeardedApplianceRepair Hope that is the issue being water valve and nothing else. Frame looked good last I checked. Some rust is seen and paint chip. I did recall the tention spring for drum or what ever is pretty bad looking. Rest I think I caught in time or least stopped splashing and dried floor. Course over time that rust eats more. I 100% agree they don't make stuff like prior. Quality control went out the door long ago. I do invest in old if I feel the worth. I replaced a heating element myself in a Maytag dry machine. That unit is decades old only replaced belt one time. After new part for about a year now it's still kicking. That element was a good grade replace at about $120. I did that because I fealt I will get the use. The washer machine I kept simple. Get into boards and bells and whistles and all things error code. I want to thank you for the time and input. Over the days I will check all on meter and get back with a verdict. If valve I'll get that part and verdict that also when done.
I know which element your talking about. I replaced one recently and was more expensive than I thought it would be for that model. Was about 20 years old though. You can’t beat an old Maytag.

My wash is slightly different but same problem and I replaced my water valve and it still only works with hot water. So when it gets to the rinse cycle it won’t work

If it isn't the valve, and you have running cold water, it is the switch. UA-cam cold water switch and you will have your solution

I replaced the part but still no cold water. You mentioned checking for power on the clear connection, can you be a little more precise about how to do that? Or post a link to another video showing how to do that? I replaced it with a brand new part, so unless the new part is defective it can't be getting power for some reason.
Hi. I got the peice off. I can get water/air to go through (primed it in the sink and used a hand pump and bubbles came through both hot and cold area where you attach the hose.. So I assume it's not blocked? Is it safe to assume that? Working on testing the power source (finding a meter). How do I do that safely.

What if you have calcium buildup, even though you got a new value. Calcium still buildup in the filter. Please help

can you please help me.. i have here a washing machine white westinghouse . the behavior is the washer start today to fill water very slow. i check the intlet valve and this is ok, check the hose its ok, so i check the voltage and i found something interesting. when you put the cycle with cold water and hit start i see in my mult the 125v for a second then dessapear but if you put hot the 125 are steady. if put hot and cold the voltage was on and off. you know when activate cold disappear.. and i do the test disconnecting the inlet from the connector coming from the washer you know i connect my mult directly to the cables.. what you think? i cant find any parts for this its WWAC14M3HEKW
