If the lid still opens after you've tried to start the cycle, check the lid locking safety feature. It's pretty easy to disable.

I just figured out why my washing machine would never fill up and it wasn't mentioned in the video. The problem was where the drain line was running there was not a bend going up then back down again so all the water was getting siphoned out as it was filling. That's why the drain line and water in box is higher on your wall

Probably the timer. Fill it manually, with buckets of water, and see if it runs the cycle normally. If not, your timer is faulty.

My 28 yr old Amana is having issues. I bought it used a few years ago and the cold water just trickles in. This was with a new hose, new screens and we checked the water pressure......all that's fine. Without using a tester or tearing into it, I eliminated the inlet valve as the problem by swapping the cold and hot hoses so the cold would run thru the hot side and vice versa. The cold trickled into the hot side. I only recently found it might be the timer. It has another issue too, but I'm on the fence about fix it or because of it's age, buy a new washer. It stops mid cycle and smoke comes up around the drum. I can let it rest an hour after it fills up and not do the super loads and it's fine. When it shuts down, it has to rest a few days and then it's fine! Is that also the timer?

My Roper Washing machine cycles back and forth between hot and cold water (1-2 minutes each) during the fill cycle when the "HOT" water setting is chosen. The result is the water in the filled tub is lukewarm at best. Does anybody know if there is a part or parts that determines the length of these cycles? I'd like to make the hot water come out longer and/or the cold come out shorter to result in true HOT water when the tub is filled. A capacitor maybe?

Have a Whirlpool Cabrio Washer Model WTW6600SB2, I had a repairman replaced the tension robs and after he turn the washer, water flowed for a few seconds and stopped. He stated the control board was bad. I put a another control board in, started the machine, water flowed for a few seconds and stop. Cannot not determine the cause. Thought it might be the water pressure guage.
