I think you convinced me with this video. I don't need 1000 cc. Heavy weight maintenance nightmare. I need a well rounded fun machine that is reliable. Great video
Glad to hear it! Some folks want the biggest most powerful ATV they can get and that's ok.. We went through that phase too.. But balance, agility, and durability is more important once you get past the ego thing
@@DirtObseXXion, not entirely true. I grew up drag racing on sport quads, because I live where sport quads are useless I finally jumped ship after 22 years to 4x4. As a motorsport salesman I think yamaha is missing a huge market due to the Japanese stubbornness to use a 75+ HP motor. If yamaha would at least put out 75 I wouldn't have bought a 1000.
@@BertaWheet I understand some folks want them, but it's obviously not enough of a demand to interest Yamaha.. My guess is that regulations and carbon credits play a role in the decision.. If Yamaha can only produce X number of machines with existing credits, they are betting they'd sell more 700 Grizzlies than big twins.. Plus the current Grizzly costs them 0 in R&D, there's huge cost associated with developing and manufacturing an entirely new atv which is what it would be.. All they have now is an engine they could theoretically use in an 850 if it was modified.. According to Polaris, Big Bore sales, 850 and up make up the smallest segment of their ATV market.. They literally said that verbatim at the press release for their S models.
Yamaha makes great 450cc machines. That's bout the lowest size I go in utility/ trail 4wd quad myself. Plus Yamaha has best all around choices out there these days.
I was a Polaris guy for years. Owned 6 over the course of 10 years. After the last one I had, I did extensive research on most machines. I asked tons of questions to dealers and owners and after hearing multiple times that people haven’t touched their Grizzly for repairs other than oil and spark plugs for at least 30-35,000 kms I was sold. I saw a few Grizzlies with over 50,000 kms and still running great. I went out and bought a 2019 Grizzly 700 and haven’t looked back.
I have a blue 2018 grizzly 700 with the Fuji 708cc engine and aside from the engine, it's been a fantastic atv! The newer 686cc Kodiak my buddy has runs a smooth and quiet as a sewing machine, it's an absolute dream of an engine. With that all out of the way, I have 5,000 km on this ATV and I haul firewood and plow snow in a pretty large driveway. That ATV has been strong and very reliable. So far I've had no wheel bearing, tie rod end or any suspension part replacements. Just last week I had the CVT cover off to do an inspection while I was performing a full service and the CVT is just like new. There is no belt dust or abnormal patterns on the CVT sheaves. I've never experienced belt slip even hauling a full trailer load of firewood in high range on a dirt road. If anyone is it all hesitant about purchasing an ATV with a CVT transmission, I would say Yamaha and Suzuki are about the best out there.
Have a 2021 Grizzly se and we love it! Thing is an absolute beast in every terrain we’ve hit. The shocks and comfort of the machine is insane especially compared to my Raptor. I totally recommend this machine to everyone looking for a solid do it all quad.
Awesome review !! TY .... just put a deposit on a 2022 Grizzly 700 SE ... dealer told me that if I use yamalube and yamaha filter and keep up with the maintenance as per manual .... Yamaha warranties the engine for 20 years or 160 000 km ...must register unit online and update the maintenance done with mileage etc.... but well worth it .... first time I ever heard of that ...Big bonus aswell if Yamaha stands by it which i think they will.
I have a 2021 Grizzly and couldn't be happier, it has surprised me at every turn . I have 28" Maga Mayhems and don't use 4 wheel drive much. Had to relocate the radiator to keep the mud out of it.
How is it through water? Polaris sportsman 450 is not good, water will get it and need to drain it. Can am 570 outlander xt flys through water and mud no prob at all
Really enjoyed this well balanced overview! These are excellent sport utility ATVs for sure. We have a bunch of Yamahas & Polaris ATVs. Can't go wrong w/either.
Grizzly is the best overall woods riding quad. I think the question you have to ask yourself when you buy an ORV of any kind is: " what am I ACTUALLY using this for?" Cause if you wanna race occasionally than you want a can am or polaris If you just want a dependable woods banger than the Grizzly is a go to. They have an excellent suspension because you aren't losing ride quality from excessive weight. Big vtwins are 900+ lbs wet. Thats heavy AF for a bike that has to drive over roots and washboard terrain and only has 10" travel which loses ride quality from stiff swaybars as well that are necessary to control the power those machines have
This is such a great review! I'm a Honda guy and I think the Grizzly 700 is an exceptional machine. A bigger heavier machine may be viewed by some as a net negative, unless you intent to sink your machine up to the handle bars in mud, or unless you want to drag race. For farming/ranching/trail riding/bushwhacking my Honda Rubicon in the 500 class is perfect. I agree that the Grizz 700 seems to strike the right balance between power and agility.
As a Yamaha owner I have to say I love it. Everything, with one small exception. That is the high beam light on the handle bar! As soon as you put a fuel pack on or a storage pack on the light becomes worthless, and the light low beam lights just don't cut it! I would love to see Yamaha do a few things....eliminate the light on the handle bars, put better (brighter) low beams on board, or a dual HB/LB lamp in. Widen the handle bars to accommodate some light pods! That would be a simple fix to make this machine PERFECT! It's just to simple to overlook. Anyone in on agreeing with this?
Yeah not a fan of the light placement on the latest model , i quite often have both racks loaded up so would be of no use . If they had stuck a snorkel on it i’d of probably got one :)
love yamaha my grandpa has a grizzly 400 he bought new in 2000 use it for all farm work never broke down on us never has had any issues other then dead battery and changing the oil super reliable
I've had my most recent ATV for 2 years or so and enjoy hitting the trails with a few friends a few times a month. Everyone has their own style of riding that they enjoy, I'm glad my group just likes lugging around and enjoying the scenery. Maybe some hill climbs, a flip over or two a month, but it's fun for us. I don't think I could do the 25mph trail riding, ass in the air, tree dodging techniques enjoyed by others. And there are really none of those trails in the miles we ride here in South Central Kentucky (near home anyway)
Fellow KY boy, we were just at White Sulfur in Salt Lick Sunday.. The OHV trails in the Daniel Boone are nice, 50inch restricted so they're perfect for ATVs and never very busy..
I have a 2018 Viking 3 with the 686 single and was at first skeptical about buying because of the larger displacement twin cylinders in the Polaris and Honda models that made anything less than 1000 cc seem underpowered... but I was wrong. Coupled with their CVT drivetrain, Yamaha nailed the perfect mix of power, weight and durability in the ATV/UTV industry... with the battle for the best looking model or number of gadgets driving prices through the roof.
I was so satisfied with my '08 grizzly that I bought a second one in 2020 and kept the old one for my sons. The only things I changed are the tires. The zillas are great in the mud but when you hit dirt roads, they throw rocks all over the place and give a rougher ride on those 14" wheels. So I bought a set of Bighorns on 12" rims for the trail.
@@TheAnnalynn77 I went with 26" but you have to remove the backing plate behind the discs. You can probably buy some that would fit in the 12" rims but I just took them off. It rides a lot smoother now. Totally worth it.
2019 Kodiak 700 owner. I hate cvt but Yamaha does a good job at keeping it from revving to the moon just to do anything. I just wish I could get a Honda big bore that has more than 3 gears
Change your clutch weights, you can change your engagement point. I run 18gram grizzly weights in my Kodiak for the snappiness of a grizzly, but also have a machined sheave and a sim to keep my low end torque, plus I added a heavier secondary spring for faster back shifting and an even better engine braking.
I'm a huge fan of the Grizzly, but just not sure there are enough differentiating features between the it and the Kodiak, especially with price overlap depending on trim levels. Great video!
The Kodiak is a more compact chasis and the motor is detuned a bit to make the throttle much less punchy.. But depending on needs the Kodiak could certainly be the better buy..
In 2016 the Kodiak started out at $6,400 the Grizzly at $9,400. But that was the new 708cc and slightly different design on the quad. I had a lot of problems with my Grizzly not so much the motor but the quad itself. So much I'm disappointed and discouraged from Yamaha. I'd never buy a new Yamaha ATV from a dealer again. I'm at that point in my life where i'm ready for a SxS. I like the Viking but not with the 686cc.
The grizzly blows the kodiak away, I have a 2021 grizzly and a 2021 kodiak. The grizzly is more stable, rides way smoother, has a bigger layout and will blow the kodiak away from a dead stop and wheelies over obstacles that the kodiak won't. Both good machines but the grizzly is more sport and its worth the extra money in my opinion 😉
I actually went into the dealership planning on a kodiak because I was trying to keep costs down. It was the wider stance that convinced me to go for the Grizz, as much as anything. Lots of people put wheel spacers on their quads to make them wider, but not many are actively trying to make them narrower.
I've always LVOED my grizzlies! I've had a few, too, and never ANY real issues with them! I'm not too upset that they have not changed things in a long time. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Yes, they are awesome Indeed. Tho i'm partial to my new '21 Raptor 700R-SE these days ..it shares engine design w/newer Grizzly.. tho in pure performance capacity of course.
@@brucestephens1415 Honda has dropped the ball on its ATV line up. It's pathetic really. They are good. Yamaha, Polaris, Can Am etc are so much further ahead in tech & features. Lookin @ '22 Can Am XC Renegade 850 for my next quad.
Had a Grizzly 700 SE, loved everything about it except the short wheelbase. At 6’4” it always felt like I was sitting right over the rear axle. Not a good feeling on a big hill climb. Regretfully sold it for a 1000 Highlifter. Love the longer wheelbase but sure miss the confident feeling I’ll make it home. Great video and I still love the Yamahas!
Hey I'm the same height as you and used to own a grizzly 700 as well. Do the canams have longer wheelbases in general, or do you need the outlander max xt? I'm shopping around right now
The Yamaha has a 49” wheelbase and the Can-Am is 51”. I bought a Polaris which is 53” but if you’re looking at Can-Am I did drive a new XMR last weekend and the 51” wheelbase is comfortable. The 2-up can-am is I believe 8 inches longer than the single seat models and they have plenty of room but on tight trails you will have a bigger turning radius. I loved the Yamaha but just too short for my build. Hope this helps some and happy riding.
I got 2 friends with can am's and they had to start replacing stuff by the second season of riding. One has an X3 and most of the bushing's wore out. Power steering rack was clunking all over too. Stock radius arms are super thin and bend easy had to shell 600 for billet by 2nd year he had it. They dont come with any protection so you'll tear off plastic's in no time
I've been incredibly tempted to upgrade my 2005 Grizzly 660 for a new XTR and I know the 686cc engine is better and has EFI, but when I went to the dealership to compare what the new Grizzly's offer, I can't justify spending over $11,000 when mechanically it really doesn't appear to be THAT much different than my old 660. I'm torn. My old 660 has all the power I need and the carb is dialed in perfectly to my Colorado altitude, and a paid off quad is the best. I sure would like one of these new XT Rs though 🤷♂️ I'm only interested in owning Yamaha or Honda. The big power machines are sweet but I'm into reliability and practicality. No one beats that over Yamaha and Honda.
If it’s not broke, why replace it. I’m still using a 2004 Kodiak 450. This thing is a friggin beast. 950hrs and 14000 km and finally had to replace the wet clutch, and greased up the primary and secondary sheeves for the belt. Toasted it trying to tow a trailer full of cut wood, in high gear and not low.
@@jeremyjohnson5893 I mean now is the time to sell a used quad with the prices they're going for and with winter around the corner. I just talked to a guy at my South Denver Yamaha dealership that just got his new MT09 in, and he only had to wait 6 months for it 😳. I've decided I'm going to keep my 660 and probably buy a new Raptor instead of a new Grizz 🤔
Just bought a kodiak 700 back in june and going from my 97 timberwolf 250 it is pleanty of power for me and the ride is awsome its like driving a Tempur-pedic mattress
We just a 2022 a couple months ago and did a review on it, got a Kinf Quad for a comparison too... Congratulations on the new wheeler! Is it your first?
Love the review and can't wait until you guys take it out and make a trail review and trash it around. I'm convinced to trade in my old one and upgrade to a new one. Thank you.
I have a 2007 I bought brand new. Hasn’t changed much other than when they stuck that unreliable engine in for a few years. 9000 km and it’s been really good. Engine solid, still doesn’t burn oil at all and I’m still on the original belt! Other than normal maintenance items I’ve replaced the stator, rad fan, eps (my fault I sunk the quad an water got in the old unit), winch, heated grips, several wheel bearings and brake pads, one rotor, and that’s about it. Minor for 15 yrs old.
I have the 2021 Grizz SE model, and I love it .... live in the southwest, do a lot of technical and Trail riding with it , not so much muddying .... and it has been a blast coming from a can am outlander...
With a KFI snow plow setup my 2021 SE cost just north of $16,000 Canadian, expensive yes! That said it’s been bullet proof. Put 1000km on it with no issues at all. It’s chipped, clutched and is a absolute blast to ride. It’s plenty fast with a few modifications!
Wish I could get the 2021 Grizzly that I ordered back in March. It is extremely frustrating to wait 7 months for an atv then find out that for 2022 they chose that color scheme for EPS.
Hang in there it will be worth it! Have ur dealer get on them a bit too. Ordered a '21 Yamaha Raptor 700R-SE early April got it June 5th here in Ohio @ a pretty large powersports dealer. I think allocation is based on a dealers yrly sales. Tho not sure.
I just put money down an a 2022 xtr . Will be in within a month . Can’t wait ! Ultimately I chose the grizzly for its unparalleled reputation for reliability. I was considering a can am 650 but I agree with this video’s evaluation of usable power and trail friendliness of the grizz . I ride wood’s motorcycles as well and there is one thing that is for sure , it’s a lot more fun to ride a “slow “ bike fast than a fast bike slow 👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks for the Awesome video and review!
Im sneaking up on 10,000 miles on my 2018 Eps . Only issue was the 4x4 switch . I took it apart and re - greased it with new dielectric grease , its fixed. I should change the belt soon !
Love the review I just bought a 2020 grizzly se I am glad I did before the color change. Yamaha has always been good to me. It made me sell my brute force v twin, And alot better fuel efficient for the trails
Amazing to read the comments when we have a 1999 Grizzly that still runs like a Champ. And we just picked up a 2017 Yamaha Raptor 700 R that is a completely different kind of ride. After reading these comments I’ll just keep my old Grizzly unless I find a slightly used one and then I’ll just add it to the fleet. 👍🏻
All good brother, appreciate you watching! Please keep the feedback coming whether or not you agree with my opinions.. It makes the channel better... At the end of the day we're all just passionate about the sport, and I can definitely respect that!
@@alexprince9035 that’s what I keep reading. So, the Kodiaks made sense to me. I have the base models so I don’t need much. I just picked up a 21 700 a week ago and I do wish it had a Speedo/odometer though.
@@bach5780 even for the price they’re asking for the kodiak it should have one. Me personally I would never buy a new Yamaha with the prices they’re asking. I’d rather buy a new Polaris even if the reliability isn’t as good
@@alexprince9035 $7500 msrp for a 700 I think is a great value. I do agree though that it should have a screen of some sort. No Speedo is really lame at any price point
That's what I am seeing too. Big price jump... for what? Just like the Kodiak 700 EPS to the Kodiak 700 SE. All that money extra. For what? At least the 450 jump gives you a winch.
I bought a 2012 grizzly 700 last year with 350 miles on it from the original owner. I have put ITP hurricane wheels on it and 25x10-12 Deestone swamp witch radials on all 4 corners (cheap), I also added Flexx Bars, Flexx hand guards which i powder coated all the aluminum black, mount for the phone with charging cord, side mirror etc. I have to admit, just those changes it’s a fantastic trail bike. I’m sure a 2019 and up would be even better. I can keep up with SxS’s and dirt bikes on trails and hill climbing, I’m faster then most sxs’s on strait always unless it’s a 1000cc sxs. The stock suspension is better than the Suzuki king quad 750 which is another awesome machine but the grizzly makes a better trail bike. So far I just load the quad up, thrash it, I jump it over trail washouts, I take it in the mud (had to get pulled out twice), I clean it off and it’s always ready to go on the next trip, only ever done fluid changes. The 686 powered grizzlies and the 2019+ Suzuki king quad 750s is all I’d buy for trail riding. P.S. I’m glad to see only small changes from one year to another. For example I have a 1999 Suzuki King Quad 300cc in my garage, that quad will go and climb anything but it’s just super slow, even over 20 years later that quad is better at utility tasks then new ATVs. Belt driven quads are fun on trails but they aren’t nearly as good for chores. For example: trail mowers, pull a 60in trail mower with a stock machine at 3-4mph and you will over heat or burn up your clutches, I can run that Suzuki king quad 300 in 2nd gear for a lifetime and it won’t hurt it one bit. I would have to put new slugs in the grizzly, when I do that, I lose top speed to a point that 300cc quad would go faster on a road lol. Any belt driven machine I would call a sport utility. Shaft driven is utility.
I've got a 2009 grizzly 700 , I bought it used from a dealer with 2300 miles on it , I now have 7000 miles on it . I ride everyday and because I ride everyday I have had some wear issues .. CV boots and front wheel bearings .. I will have replace CV belt soon .. its getting a little noisy .. but all in all it is a GREAT machine .. I'd recommend it to anyone
I've got a 2008 King Quad 750 with a similiar amount of miles, 6800 as of yesterday. Still have the original belt too. I've had to replace all 4 cv shafts but they're not that expensive, the aftermarket models off Amazon are about $60 a piece and are just as good as oem. I'm sure the ones for your Grizzly are available for about the same price. I actually have a new belt that I bought last year but have yet to need to use. Ill just keep it on the shelf until I need it. Other than that routine maintenance like oil changes, brakes and wheel bearings. On my third set of tires, though the factory originals were pretty worn when i bought it back in early 2018. I actually was going to buy a used Grizzly 700 when I got this but the King Quad was a better deal and I've been quite happy with it. Paid $3500 for it then, $3500 won't buy you anything close to used 700 class machine now. She's not quite as pretty as she once was, the red plastic is faded and has got some cracks and tears in it but still starts right up and runs like new.
Looking between a CanAm outlander 650 and a Grizzly 700. Both seem to be similar pricing. Any recommendations? Rode a 2018 Griz on some trails and liked it, felt light and nimble. Test rode a CanAm in a parking lot so couldn't get a good feel for it.
Man. Great vid! I’m excited about selecting my first atv and this is definitely on the list. I’ve also been looking at the Honda foreman and rubicon. Do you have an opinion on the Hondas and how they stack up to the Yamahas? Thanks!
We just did a comparison on the Grizzly vs KingQuad. The Honda's are an entirely different flavor.. They're great for what they are, very reliable. But fun factor and ride quality isn;t the same as Yamaha.
I have a 2021 Grizzly, I couldn't imagine having more power where and how I ride. I already can't use all the power it has riding thru woods. Now on the gravel roads ya but I have no desire to drive 100 mph on a quad. I think the grizzly is pretty close to perfect the way it is, maybe some better shocks but it's still very nice.
I tell you what I wanted a atv I did my home work very well talked to people and more. videos also I bought a 2020 Yamaha xtr I couldn't be more happier I think I got 118 miles on it 16 hours lol it was a great choice
My first grizzly 700 was a 2018 and was a great machine but I didn't like the 708 engine I aggressively trail rode it for 1 year in the Colorado high country on rough trails for over 1200 miles and it performed well but at the end of the year it had some things that needed to be addressed like tires, brakes, shocks ,wheel bearings and and gear box bearings but I figured this is normal wear and tear but I literally rode it hard for that time and so it was then I decided to call my local dealer and see about a trade in for a 2020 and compare prices and it was at that time that I traded for my new current 2020 grizzly 700 with 686 engine that is a better more reliable engine and the horsepower as very slightly less than the 708 but still has enough for normal trail riding and suits me just fine, I have made some upgrades to it for reliability purposes only and not really horsepower gain and it performes like a dream on rough trails, I have had alot of atvs over the years and use to race sport quads but for trail riding this is the best and smoothest most reliable machine I have ever ridden and I will continue buying Yamaha their clutch and belt system is indestructible, there way better than the competition in my opinion, so anyone thinking of getting a sport utv, you cant go wrong with the grizzly or kodiak utvs
Love my 2021 Grizzly, 2002 Raptor,2000 Beartracker an 2004 TT225 trailbike an miss all the one's I have sold. Have had many different brands but Yamaha has always treated me the best.
I had a Grizz for a while and did a lot of trail riding in sandy loam and hills with rocks. I could get that thing anywhere and it literally never broke unless I crashed. Now I am back in the market, and could afford any quad, and I think I will get another Grizzly.
I prefer an all around trail dire with directional lugs, ITP terracross and Kenda bearclaws are probably my favorite.. Next would be GBC Dirt Commanders
I'm loving my 2020 grizzly 700se xtr. I've had zero problems. I atv i traded in to buy the griz was a 2015 polaris sportsman 1000xp, the 1000xp worked great ,,, BUT BROKE DOWN and Caught FIRE 7 TIMES, and cost me over 4000 $ in replacement parts, no labor costs included in that 4000$ because i do all repairs myself. Wheel bearings after wheel bearings, it ate them up. Belts snapped till I switched to the dayco xtx. Brake pads fell out when the wheel bearings lunched, ruined a caliper. Clutch housing was never siliconed properly and leaked horribly, till fire melted it and was replaced. Then it was good. Front diff was a problem also. Pinion bearing plate exploded which left the machine not able to move because the front drive shaft would flop n hit everything around it. Yup would if been walking if my wife wasn't with me. This happened twice. Grrrŕrr . I have to say I dont even miss the power of the 1000xp, because the only place we have to ride fast is the road. Ontario Canada has reduced speed limits for atv road use so couldn't pin it anyway. I went against my better judgment buying a polaris atv, and it showed right away with all the problems. If it ain't a YAMAHA, im not buying it is my way of thinking now. After 30 plus years of being on YAMAHA atvs, I dont know what I was thinking buying another brand
I had similar experiences with my XP1000 too... Costs a fortune just to build it up as tight as it should have come from the factory... After market pinion plate, bushings, bearings, ball joints, diff, clutch, frame braces ect... Sure does add to the cost of ownership
I actually really like that grey/yellow combo. I had a Grizz 700 and while it's a great motor, I'm still holding out hope for a twin. I love the motor in my Polaris 850sp....the rest of it is a pass. I wish I could put this motor in a Grizzly frame.
Get one while you can they sell so fast! Can't go wrong w/Polaris either. All we have is Yamaha & Polaris ATVs. Maybe a '22 Can Am Renegade XC 850 next tho:)
I agree very twin would rock. I have 2016 700 it lacks power. Handel's well. Had can am 800 xtp fell apart on me had 750 brute force had a lot of power but did not take bumps well. I did switch 4 clutch weights spring and shim. It is much quicker and better coming out of turns I did loose a little top end but I do not need it on trails
Would love to see you do a video on the Kodiak 450SE. Love the grizzlies, but out my budget. I think the kodiak 450se is the best bang for your buck for those who aren't looking to spend an absolute ton of money on their machine, but also want something of good quality and reliability out on the trail.
The King Quad and Grizzly are two of my favorite. Don't get me wrong, the other big twins with tons more power are cool, but with power comes maintenance, costs, and repairs. I feel like the 700-single class is about right for most people or to have at least one as an all-around machine. Just wish the 700 class was not so expensive. I mean, almost may as well go with a twin from another manufacture at this point.
Covid caused such a price hike in all models. I remember a few years ago(2016 I think) seeing the 700 class machines like a new Grizzly, King Quad and Brute Force at my local dealer(they sell all 3 brands) for $6000 for an end of year base model. Now even the 400 class machines are approaching that price. I do have a CF Moto dealer about 30 miles away, its also a Polaris and Can Am dealer. I'm still not 100% sure I would ever buy one of those but I'm slowly being convinced that their reliability is getting close to what a Polaris and Can am are for way less money. I just don't like the fact that the 800 model is only available in a 2up. The 500 looks like the best value they have, can buy one of those with power steering, a winch and nice wheels and tires for about $6000. They have a 600 model too, which is the closest in power to the 700 class machines. I think they should have just bumped it up to a 700 instead to have something that would directly compete with the Grizzly and King Quad 750. CF Moto just doesn't have the dealer network like the rest though, some people might not live within 100 miles from a dealer.
@@gregrowe1168 - I've done a lot of reading on the CFMoto machines and have watched tons of videos. I would wager they are far more reliable than Polaris or CanAm. They sell like hotcakes overseas and many have over 10k miles on their machines. CFMoto also builds motors for KTM. My issue is as you stated, dealer network. The closest one is about a 5-6 hour drive. There used to be one at a local Yamaha shop 90minutes away but he quit selling them in 2016, not because of reliability but no one trusted CFMoto around here at the time. I would buy one with a local dealer, but since there is not, I would stick with what we do have for sale in the area just to have easy access for warranty work, repairs, and parts. I do the same with vehicles. We have no dealership in town, the closes town that does is 90 minutes north. That gives us the option of Ford, Jeep, or Dodge. Even though I'd much rather have something else like a Subaru.
I have owned 1 Yamaha, It was worked on more then it was rode and at 8 months old it was completely shot. It just couldn’t stand the pressure. Lol. Still have that after taste in my mouth after 21 year’s.
I have been waiting to see the 2022 Yamaha line up. I clicked on the link and the first thing I saw was that hideous yellow. Then I saw a bunch of green Kodiak machines. The Kodiak 450 EPS SE is okay, Steel Blue and Graphite. I still like the 2021 Armour grey and the Ridge Red better. Colour is very subjective of course. I told Yamaha what I think of their new colours, my 2 cents worth. It won't do anything, but I figure they should know I almost barfed too!
@@DirtObseXXion I'm 100 percent convinced the goal was to move people up the trim level ladder by making the more affordable one too hideous to put in the garage lol
@@alexmaclean1 I believe you are 100% right. That's exactly what it was for. Kinda worked for me in 2018, dealer has 3 700 Kodiak left. 2 tactical black SE, and an eps in camo. They couldn't pay me enough to buy an ugly camo bike. So I paid a bit more and bought an SE. But the dealer did help me out with a double dealer incentive, $200 off instead of 100, plus an expired $250 factory rebate offer, and no pdi or freight. So I'm the end it was only $75 more than the eps would have been
I have to say your videos led me to buy my 21 grizzly a year ago now. I just recently went for a rip with a group of friends riding various brands and bore sizes. After swapping out rides every now and again to try out different machines. Everyone was drooling over my grizzly, and I agreed with all of the things they said. By far, I definitely am extremely overjoyed with my purchase. The only drawback I am having with it is that the two plastic wings towards the front of the seat cushion that are in place to help keep the seat in position keep coming out of their designated slot. I will say I find it quite annoying. Other than that, I thank you so much for all of the research you put into these machines.
Truly honored I could help and I'm super glad you're happy with it!!! The Grizzly will probably always be my favorite 4x4.. Nothing else checks as many boxes even tho there are a few things I would change too..
Lol of the person on the 700 has skill and knows the trail well, I assure you the 700 can lose you in the trail. That's not bashing on the 450, they are awesome, and will still beat a 520 Honda Rubicon in almost every comparison.
@@jasonmorehouse3756 I’m serious, my buddy and I can ride. Our trails are 50” wide and winding constantly. The 700 is heavier and wider, it can’t go over 25-45mph on the trail and that’s where the 450 shines. Mid range is impressive on the 450. When we get to an open rode, he smokes me everytime, but the trails, I’m right their with him.
@@jasonmorehouse3756 I’m pulling wheelies on the 450 bro. The 700 pulls wheelies while sitting down. My max speed on the 450 is 56mph. The 700 is 65mph. I bought mine right out the box 2018 and first ride was wide open pinned to 56mph. Break it in how you want it to perform, change the break in fluid and go. I figure 56mph is pointless so I’m about to put a clutch spacer/shim in it drop the top speed to 50mg and give me more bottom End for the mud and trails with different tires.
I'm torn between the Grizz and the 750 King Quad. Both quads check all the boxes for me, but the belt drive warranty and power steering of the Grizzly are compelling factors
👍 good video. I talked my dad into buying a 2021 grizzly XTR The beginning of this year got it at the end of February. This machine is an absolute beast. My only complaint is the plastic is cheap & breaks very easily. In my opinion the XTR model should come with the upgraded bigger brush guard And metal skid plates. My dad bumped a tree and cracked front of fender😬 He also destroyed the floorboard the second trip in the woods. We ordered the ricochet 10 piece skid plates. They are well worth the money. Would be nice if it was straight from the factory decked out paying $12000+. We also have a Honda Rubicon deluxe 2017. The grizzly is bigger and heavier but rides smaller and more nimble.
Hate to hear that about the plastic! I think a better skid plate is a reasonable ask on the XT-R.. But I've used ricochet before.. That will definitely solve the problem
@@jessewilliams2719 Honda is great! Haven’t gone riding as much as I want to but starts up ride‘s nice just like day one. If you have the extra money I would go with Yamaha grizzly but you will not be disappointed with Honda unless you’re looking for speed.

@@scottmugford1123 Yamaha cvt is nothing like any of the other cvt systems. And it will stay up against your gears in the Honda in water, or pulling a heavy load behind it. I sold my 450 foreman and bought a 700 Kodiak, world of difference, but best move ever. This bike can do anything that 450 could, easier, faster, and more comfortably. The only place the Honda beats it is fuel economy, but it barely does that.
I think the grizzly would benefit with a 6.4 liter Hellcat HEMI. Kidding. Awesome video. Not to keen on the colors either. God bless and stay safe everyone. Worlds gone nutty.
@@hernilsoriano4873 Awesome man congratulations! The Raptor has been my favorite ATV out of everything I've owned, rode, or tested.. I can't ever imagine not having one..
I have a 2002 grizz I bought as a second quad for letting the kids or a friend ride and ended up really liking it. The quad has so much more refinement compared to my 2016 brute force. Yeah the brute has an awesome engine but the brakes and tranny pale in comparison to the grizzly. I’m not a fan of the EPS the brute either. I’m thinly of pulling the trigger on the spec’d out version of the grizz. Good video BTW.
I got a 2020 grizz xtr...love the ride and handling...and looks...but could use atleast another 20 hp or lower gearing...the wide zillas on front catch too many rocks..roots etc...better off with skinnys up front
I have one that I use for hunting and a bit of trail riding. And let me tell, it has a lot of power. You pop the gas and it stands up on 2 wheels. Not my style of riding anyway. I like the power it has to pull and for going up hills effortlessly. I did my research before I bought it. For what I use it, it's the best most reliable ATV on the market. It's a 2020
May have to look into a grizzly. Looking at a Suzuki 750 Kingquad, Yamaha Grizzly 700 or a can am 570 or maybe a 650 or 850. Canam is my 1st choice but I’m not too sold on them yet
Just check both out in person before you go one way or the other... Sometimes the best machine on paper just doesn't feel right when you sit on it... Everyone is different
@@DirtObseXXion that's 100% right. I was set on a 700 grizzly until I sat on it..... Coming from a 450 Honda, the grizz felt huge, and the wider plastics took away my sight lines for technical trail riding. Sat on the Kodiak next to it and boom... Liked the seat and bar position much better, I could see the shaker plastic was closer to the old Honda sight lines... Yet still got my 700 power. Sold 2018 Kodiak 700 SE. It's been modded to do everything the grizzly could and more. Love this bike
@@DirtObseXXion just try n buy parts now. Its brutal here in Ontario.
My 21 Kingquad 750 rips but I still have mad respect for Grizzly’s! We grew up on em!
I have a 2019 Grizzly and love it. I run 27’s, added an EHS tuner with an air box mod and Barkers exhaust. Couldn’t be happier with its performance.
I bet it's a beast with those mods
My 19 Grizzly has the EXACT same set up. I couldn't be happier with it.
I'm interested about those mods. Are there any forums for advice? How to make airbox mod?
Have a 2021 Grizzly se and we love it! Thing is an absolute beast in every terrain we’ve hit. The shocks and comfort of the machine is insane especially compared to my Raptor. I totally recommend this machine to everyone looking for a solid do it all quad.
Nice!
Should ride you a poolaris
I picked up a Kodiak 700 EPS SE last month... It is doing everything I need. I got it for hunting/working. I am very happy with it.
Kodiak just under the Grizzly!!! Still badass!!!!! CAN'T NEVER GO WRONG WITH A Yamaha ..
I am a big Grizzly fan. I have had three. One 660 and two 700s. Love them!!!!
Yep! They offer it because they know they won't need to honor it.. That motor is as bullet proof as they come...
Thank you!!!
Grizzly is the best overall woods riding quad.
I think the question you have to ask yourself when you buy an ORV of any kind is: " what am I ACTUALLY using this for?"
Cause if you wanna race occasionally than you want a can am or polaris
If you just want a dependable woods banger than the Grizzly is a go to. They have an excellent suspension because you aren't losing ride quality from excessive weight. Big vtwins are 900+ lbs wet. Thats heavy AF for a bike that has to drive over roots and washboard terrain and only has 10" travel which loses ride quality from stiff swaybars as well that are necessary to control the power those machines have
John Pellan from @atvscene has been racing a Grizzly this year and doing pretty well... If I were going to race a 4x4 it would probably be a CanAm
I had a can am and loved it. Up keep was stupidly priced so i got rid of it *shrugs*. Great bike if you got deep pockets
Been a Yamaha guy all my life but I think both Honda and Yamaha are exceptional.
Not only is it a beast but it’s literally the best looking atv on the market Yamaha just nailed it.
I think the first XTR was the best looking Grizzly ever, with first SE blue one in a close 2nd..
That's really good feedback 👍
Yeah not a fan of the light placement on the latest model , i quite often have both racks loaded up so would be of no use . If they had stuck a snorkel on it i’d of probably got one :)
Agreed!
Put a light bar on, end of story
20inch light bar on front rack from Amazon. Night into day
love yamaha my grandpa has a grizzly 400 he bought new in 2000 use it for all farm work never broke down on us never has had any issues other then dead battery and changing the oil super reliable
I just bought a new kodiak xt 700 eps....Couldn't be more impressed with both the power and the ride...Not to mention the bullet proof reliability...
Awesome! Yeah even moderate mud tires are too much lug for me..
That’s exactly my thought I have a 2021 and want to change to 12” wheels. What size tire did you go with?
@@jasonmorehouse3756 I will look into that
Grizzlies and King Quads best all around quads in the game. Very torn on which one to get next. I already have a 500 King Quad and I love it.
Great point! Hope y'all are doing good up there! Seen some gorgeous photos on the Gram!!!
Yep
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it just like on the Honda’s
Yeah that's a tuff decision.. They're definitely significant financial investments
I literally just sold my 660 and put a deposit down on an SE. Not sure it was smart, but I wanted a new quad so...
Love the Yamaha line up. I currently have three kodiaks. Two 450s and a 700. The pricing compared to the Grizzlys kept me buying Kodiaks.
There’s barely any difference between the two.
@@alexprince9035 that’s what I keep reading. So, the Kodiaks made sense to me. I have the base models so I don’t need much. I just picked up a 21 700 a week ago and I do wish it had a Speedo/odometer though.

Great comment 👍 Nice additions to the Grizzly to make it even better on trails!
How does this compare to the brute force as far as power output ?
I have a 2021 Grizzly, I couldn't imagine having more power where and how I ride. I already can't use all the power it has riding thru woods. Now on the gravel roads ya but I have no desire to drive 100 mph on a quad. I think the grizzly is pretty close to perfect the way it is, maybe some better shocks but it's still very nice.
I tell you what I wanted a atv I did my home work very well talked to people and more. videos also I bought a 2020 Yamaha xtr I couldn't be more happier I think I got 118 miles on it 16 hours lol it was a great choice
I agree with these recommendations. I've ridden dozens of fourwheelers and Grizzly 700's are the best
I picked up a 2022 CfMoto Cforce 600, for 7800. Canadian cvt, and Bosch Fuel injection, it's a beast.
Nice!
There is zero HP difference between the 708 and 686. There's a 6% torque increase in the newer 686 due to a great box change.
@black bear No problems at all it runs great and cooler, runs better than my 2018 that had the 708 in it
@black bear 👍
Smart move!
Glad you did this review……. I started following you two year ago when you had your Grizz!
I'll have another one someday.. We've been having a blast on sportquads but I miss the 4x4 sometimes
Which atv and tires do you recommend for snow removal and winter riding...
I prefer an all around trail dire with directional lugs, ITP terracross and Kenda bearclaws are probably my favorite.. Next would be GBC Dirt Commanders
Amen!! I absolutely love my grizzly and I won’t buy anything besides a Yamaha. I truly love them!
Right on!
Sure does add to the cost of ownership
heard complaints about the lighting
Mines on order, black special edition, can't wait!
Sweet!!!
Hi what do you think about the Quality of CF moto? I just feel like to buy it? Is this good to me ?
I've scripted a video to answer that exact question.. I hope you stick around, it will be posted in a couple weeks
@@DirtObseXXion thanks sir
I actually really like that grey/yellow combo. I had a Grizz 700 and while it's a great motor, I'm still holding out hope for a twin. I love the motor in my Polaris 850sp....the rest of it is a pass. I wish I could put this motor in a Grizzly frame.
I like the flo-yellow & grey hue myself.
Please make a video show step by step how to install a hand warmer for an ATV Grizzly 2019-22 for some people don’t know how to install like me?
The King Quad and Grizzly are two of my favorite. Don't get me wrong, the other big twins with tons more power are cool, but with power comes maintenance, costs, and repairs. I feel like the 700-single class is about right for most people or to have at least one as an all-around machine. Just wish the 700 class was not so expensive. I mean, almost may as well go with a twin from another manufacture at this point.
That's where I'm at right now. It's basically a toss up at this point
Not fair... Nothing withstands the littleMan
Lol!!! If it was yellow on black it would have worked better... But I'd still ride it!
@@DirtObseXXion I'm 100 percent convinced the goal was to move people up the trim level ladder by making the more affordable one too hideous to put in the garage lol
Glad I got the 2021 Grizzly se with the orange and grey
@@alexmaclean1 I believe you are 100% right. That's exactly what it was for.
Kinda worked for me in 2018, dealer has 3 700 Kodiak left. 2 tactical black SE, and an eps in camo. They couldn't pay me enough to buy an ugly camo bike. So I paid a bit more and bought an SE. But the dealer did help me out with a double dealer incentive, $200 off instead of 100, plus an expired $250 factory rebate offer, and no pdi or freight. So I'm the end it was only $75 more than the eps would have been
A bit confused …how do you choose between the mud tires or the tune since I will be ordering online ?
The SE and XTR models come with the zillas.. Base models have trail tires..
@@DirtObseXXion ohhh alright makes sense thanks !
Wya ya the major difference between the se and xtr?
Is the exhaust heat still an issue with the new model?
Exhaust heat is an issue on everything now.. A fuel programmer adds fuel making the machines less lean and therefore a little cooler
@@DirtObseXXion I wouldn't mind more storage. Never mind, I just saw another video, and it has plenty. lol
My next atv will be a grizzly. I have owned a Polaris, a Honda - Time for a Grizzly. Great review.
Thanks for checking it out!
My 2018 kodiak 450 can tow 1322lbs as well. 450 is good in the trails as well. The 700 can’t lose me, so I’m happy
I figure 56mph is pointless so I’m about to put a clutch spacer/shim in it drop the top speed to 50mg and give me more bottom
End for the mud and trails with different tires.
@@jasonmorehouse3756 maybe I’m a really good rider and my buddy is trash idk,

Miss my 18 sportsman 1000 ..but the grizz is built to last
I'm torn between the Grizz and the 750 King Quad.

How has the honda been?
I'm having a really hard time deciding between the two.
