Hi, I own the same rifle over in the UK were it is called the HW99s for some reason. It is in .22 cal paired with a Hawke Vantage 2-7 X 7 AO IR scope. It loves the H&N FTT and Air Arms pellets pushing 11.7 foot pounds sub 12ft lbs uk law. It is a really accurate rifle and does all I ask of it. I do use JSB Hades for close range ratting but these are a looser fit in the barrel so you have to close the barrel facing down as not to accidentally clip the skirt. This rifle is great for hunting but also gives many a PCP a run for its money at the range. Like yourself I am a springer guy and love the channel.

In the UK you can't own anything over 12 foot pounds without a firearm's certificate, so that is what nearly everybody works with. 12 foot pounds is fine for the kinds of quarry that you hunt with air guns, if you put it in the right place.
People with permissions or their own land really should apply for FAC even if only air rifle, I shoot sub 12 and an FX Crown .22 H&N 218 21 grain slugs at around 840 fps, gives a whole new meaning to air gunning at 30 plus ft/lbs, it was easier to apply for FAC than it was applying for for my first job.
As others have state 12 foot pounds is the Upper limit for an Air rifle in England and Wales without a firearms licence. in Scotland things have changed. Under the terms of The Air Weapon and Licensing (Scotland) Act, 2015, airgunners in Scotland need a Scottish Air Weapon Certificate (AWC) to possess or use any airgun and that is before needing a Firearms Certificate for one over 12 Ft/Lbs. So shot placement is critical in ensuring a clean kill on small game, and finding the pellet you rifle likes is a major consideration. That rifle really likes the last pellets shot, a nice tight group.

The hw50 has plenty of knockdown power even in stock configuration I did add a vortex ho tune kit to mine and it’s putting out 13fpe with ftt and 13.5fpe with the terminators from h&n but the biggest thing to look for is bolistic coefficient you can shoot one pellet at 30 yards and loose half your energy at target and shoot another pellet the same speed and weight an hold onto 80-90 percent of your energy at 30 yards I shoot mostly h&n ftt out of my hw’s and my measured bc on the ftt trophy is 0.032 I set my chrony up at 50 yards and shoot through it and measure speed from muzzle and at 50 yards my r9 has 16fpe at muzzle and 11fpe at 50 yards my hw50 has 13fpe at muzzle and just shy of 9fpe at 50 yards and at 35 yards it will still almost pass through squirrels and I take shoulder shots on them most
12 fpe absolutely deadly, great video. It would be interesting to show penetrating energy of 177 vs 22 vs 25 at same energy... What thickness was that ply (or maybe it was particle board)? My 16 fpe rifles aren't pushing through my 3/4 ply backer that I use. Great video as always, but I was surprised to see that it needs stock screws tightened so much. Don't blow away up there in SD. ~Papa T
@@PapaTAdventures Thank you so much Papa T for checking out my video!🤠👍 177 in the same energy has greater penetration capability and 22 caliber has greater energy carrying capabilities and the heavier projectile will always carry more energy farther than a lighter projectile.🤠👍 I never did measure the plywood, I guess it was about 1/2 to 5/8 a inch. Ps, all springers stock screws get loose.🤠👍
Very educational, I appreciate your expertise in breakbarrel riffles . I think many many of us that purchased a PCP put our breakbarrels up and feel like a pcp is superior. I recently took a friend out he was completely new to airguns so I brought my Beeman RS2 , a Chinese made riffle from SAS . I grew to love it again and was impressed with how you can develop a rhythm with a breakbarrel that isnt quite the same with a pcp , you will always be refilling the airtank and magazines. I have been eyeballing a 25 cal Breakbarrel Hatsan Striker its spring powered . What is your opinion on this riffle ? I remember you were having issues with a Hatsan riffle in the past . I really want the 25 cal as it shhots 24 or 25 footpounds , the thing I do like about PCP is the higher FPE ratings . My Beeman Bullpup shoots about 45 FPE and at 100 yards still hits hard . I had in mind to buy the new Macavity arms 30 cal PCP but after a wonderful shooting trip with my breakbarrel, Im looking a purchasing a 25 cal breakbarrel over the pcp . Great video illustration of power , its appreciated

I really forgot how much I loved the simplicity and power of breakbarrel riffles , I didnt mean to become a PCP snob it just happened on its own , its fairly addictive to be able to put hole in hole at 40 and 50 yards . I truly believe if you get into a rhythm you can shoot more shots from a standard breakbarrel than you can a pcp with a magazine. Ive never shot the magazine fed breakbarrels as of yet but they seem a little cluncky . I prefer or at least I think I do shooting by single load each time . How many shots would you fail to send down range while loading the magazine compared with single loading ? 🤔 As Always much respect . I watched Nibs from walnut and steel show off his synthetic stock Beeman rs2 and it promtwd me to pull out mine with the woodstock and shoot it again it was simply a great experience and reminded me why I got serious about airguns in the 1st place . Hey, y'all; Could you talk about energy in Joules, since that is the international standard of measurement for regulations? "one pound-foot is equal to 1.35582 joules" 12 foot-pounds= 16.72 Joules For example, anything over about 14.7 foot-pounds requires a separate license in Germany
@@brandterickson8175 Hi 👋 Brandt. Thank you for checking out my video.🤠👍 I have to say that the HW95 is still my go-to break barrel air rifle. The HW50s in 22 caliber is great, but it would possibly be a better option in 177 for a flatter trajectory. I'm also planning on cutting a coil or 2 off the mainspring for smoother performance.🎯 With heavier pellets it shoots great but with lighter 14.3 or 14.66 pellets, not so smooth and my groups are not as tight because of the more harsh recoil. I hope that helps you.🤠👍
@@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 That does help, thanks. I'm interested in getting a springer and have been going back and forth between the HW95L in .22 and the HW50S in .177. Energy does not kill, hemorrhage is what kills (generally) - but also CNS destruction, and especially hydrostatic shock - which you only find in high powered rifles (not in handguns-- gel tests lie. No normal handgun has anything that can be described as "stopping power").

671fps and 949fps are good numbers(velocity) to remember for airgunners
At 671fps the pellet weight is the ft-lbs of energy at 949fps double the pellet weight to get ft-lbs of energy
671 x 671 x 8 / 450240 = 8.0ft-lbs

Thank you so much Papa T for checking out my video!🤠👍
177 in the same energy has greater penetration capability and 22 caliber has greater energy carrying capabilities and the heavier projectile will always carry more energy farther than a lighter projectile.🤠👍
I never did measure the plywood, I guess it was about 1/2 to 5/8 a inch.

Thank you for checking out my video Jason!🤠👍 Hatsan can be a real hit or miss rifle, depending on the quality control at the factory. If you do get a Hatsan, the 95 has the Quattro trigger and is a better trigger. Airgun Depot has them going really cheap. If you get a lemon just send it back and ask for a new one. I looked up a link for you. 😀👍

@@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 Thank you for going above and beyond , I love that you stuck true to your breakbarrels .
As Always much respect . Your channel is almost unique due to your love of springers and the expertise you share with the community.
@@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 I would like to thank you for alerting me to this deal , Im sort of scared I might get a lemom but I went ahead and made the purchase today .
I have to say I had pretty much put spingers away and felt like PCP is a level above , now my opinion is a bit reversed, I just broke my Crosman icon and including the Buckrail-line stock spent over 300 dollars , I can get a beautiful spinger for that kind of cost .
I watched Nibs from walnut and steel show off his synthetic stock Beeman rs2 and it promtwd me to pull out mine with the woodstock and shoot it again it was simply a great experience and reminded me why I got serious about airguns in the 1st place .
Cheers and thanks again for the advise , I will post something once my Mod 95 arrives

Hey chuck. I have a 77k and 50s both in 177. Would a 95 luxus in .22 bee worth adding to my collection? How dous it compare to the 50s?
@@eb8713
Hi there!👋🙂👍 Thank you so much for checking out my video and for your question! 😃👍
My HW95 22 Luxus is my go-to hunter with 17 FPE and out of my 5 HW's it is my favorite for hunting, target 🎯 practice and plinking.
If you have no power restrictions I highly recommend the HW95 for you! 😃👍
I ment to ask how much louder this was compared to the HW30 ? Seams like a logical progression from the 30 as my Garage rifle. Pet control 😮 And they are not that expensive.

Hey, y'all;
Could you talk about energy in Joules, since that is the international standard of measurement for regulations?
"one pound-foot is equal to 1.35582 joules"
12 foot-pounds= 16.72 Joules
For example, anything over about 14.7 foot-pounds requires a separate license in Germany

In a previous video you said the HW95L what your "go-to" rifle. Do you think the HW50S has the potential to unseat it?
@@brandterickson8175
Hi 👋 Brandt. Thank you for checking out my video.🤠👍 I have to say that the HW95 is still my go-to break barrel air rifle.
The HW50s in 22 caliber is great, but it would possibly be a better option in 177 for a flatter trajectory.
I'm also planning on cutting a coil or 2 off the mainspring for smoother performance.🎯
With heavier pellets it shoots great but with lighter 14.3 or 14.66 pellets, not so smooth and my groups are not as tight because of the more harsh recoil.
I hope that helps you.🤠👍
@@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 That does help, thanks. I'm interested in getting a springer and have been going back and forth between the HW95L in .22 and the HW50S in .177. I'm assuming the spring in the HW50S is the same regardless of caliber, so it sounds like, based on what you're saying, it would take some tuning with the lighter .177 pellets.
You might want a multi shot break barrel for your hunting rifle .

Yes I did a chronograph test after I cleaned out the factory grease and I was getting about 10 FPE, but after a session of shooting, I did another test and the power came up to 12 FPE. It was averaging 617 fps with the 14.3 Crosman Premier Hollow Point.
Ps, thank you for checking out my video!😃👍
Energy does not kill, hemorrhage is what kills (generally) - but also CNS destruction, and especially hydrostatic shock - which you only find in high powered rifles (not in handguns-- gel tests lie. No normal handgun has anything that can be described as "stopping power").
@@CandidZulu
You are incorrect, without energy you will not cause hemorrhage to take your game. 🐇
