- Accuracy testing the new JTS airguns dead centre take down pellets.
they are made in china and share some similarities with the QYS. the design is quite unique and different to anything ive seen before? are they any good or is it all just hype?
I use the air arms xti50 which has a high spec lothar walther barrel and also use the airmaks katran which uses a CZ barrel. i test in both the magazine and single shot configuration. the results are quite surprising and the longer range performance in light wind has to be seen to be believed.
ive also just received my new scope the falcon s40i ffp monster. the xti will shortly be getting an overhaul and this new scope might well replace the mighty arken ep5 that i have been using for the last year
When they first hit the market, they were priced well below JSB and H&N pellets, making them a budget-friendly option. The price likely rose due to their growing popularity. I used to shoot the 18gr .22s in my HW100, and they were incredibly accurate. They’re produced in-house by JTS, not by QYS or any other manufacturer. Great review-really enjoyed it!
The never-ending search for the perfect pellet, good luck 🎉
It's fun trying them all though...well.. when it goes to plan.
Your thorough testing and dedication are admirable. I've got a little add and could never do what you are doing. When you get done testing pellets no one can say you took any shortcuts, Thanks.
Great review Tommy, i only use H N pellets now, mostly barracuda 8s in everything ive got ,i just got fedup with paying premium money for crap results , so now i stick to H N, the quality is much and more consistent 👍
If your barrels like the h&n they are a safe bet mate and their aggressive pricing is brilliant for us.. I still can't beat a decent batch of heavies myself but would love an h&n alternative to them for the long range work.. one day maybe..🤔
Personally I wouldn't use anything in my Weihrauch other than H&N FTT. Never had a bad pellet out of all the tins I have ever bought and same price as these. I have in the past bought JSB and found far too many to be damaged, Air Arms are not too bad. But H&N are top quality.
Can't argue against that mate. Ftts have been around for years for good reason 😉
My HW 110 hates them. tried to zero them and they were all over the place. I'll stick with JSB's
@@dennisreid4428 My 99s loves them. I think springers like a harder pellet and pcp's
a softer lead, also FFT's are shorter and may not like being magazine loaded. But every barrel has its favoured pellet.
@@warrenbrooks-r2h When I bought the HW 110 I bought loads of little 25 pellets bags to see what it liked. Saw a video where somebody recommended these pellets, thought I'd give them a go. conclusion,I wasted my money. I'll try them through my 1982 BSA Scorpion springer pistol and see how they do. Yup I started on springers
@@dennisreid4428 my best mate I go shooting with he has the HW100 and 110 and he doesn’t like them at all,or should I say his HW don’t like them
Good shooting Sir. I use a Weirauch HW98S with JSB .22 5.52 mm Exact Jumbo Diablo and they are tack drivers at 25 Metres. I weigh and size every pellet with a 5.52mm Pellet sizer then place them in soft foam holders inside tins. Ime from a farming background and also a UK Veteran so when i am shooting i make sure my pellets are as good as they can be. Every bore of every rifle is different so its a matter of finding the correct ones for your barrel and then purchase as many tins or sleeves as you can with the same batch number. If you wish to achieve the accuracy you expect then you need to weigh and size every pellet first 🙏
Absolutely agree mate 😉
File em in the BIN
Might turn them into fishing weights 😆
ALL THIS FROM A COUPLE CUPS OF TEA. Outstanding!!
Heyup chap, looks like you've saved me fifteen quid 😁
Great informative content buddy, cheers, Jon 👍Hawkes eye TV 👍😁😁
Its definitely a surprise how big they come up. Shame as they look well made, have a decent weight variation and well packed so no damaged ones 😞
Thanks m8 you saved me some money.. was going to get a couple of tines to try .. 💯 won't bother now for my air arms
If you fancy some testing for fun/science, I'd definitely suggest trying the Brazilian Rtx and some of the rifle thunders. They were great fun and really good in the wind in my rigs. 😉
@tillysgunstocks did you do a vid on these?? I must have missed it.. I'll look into those ty 👍
I use QYS on my BSA 177, just centres 16g on my FX Dreamline .22 and I love them in the .22 but not so much on the 177, that been said I’ve been saying a long time these are just like the QYS in quality and their accuracy with the right barrel , love you’ve reviewed them and you like them, as always cracking show
A pretty exhaustive test there, you gave them every chance. I certainly wouldn’t waste money buying any more of these Tommy or giving the heavier ones a try. The term ‘buyer beware’ comes to mind
Hi nick, yeah very surprising results really. They look on the face of it ,to be well made but just oversized so much they get damaged on loading. There enough vids now to see the barrels I use are all known good ones and all very accurate with consistent pellets. Shame really that there's no batch codes to try others or avoid this batch
@@tillysgunstocks
Thanks for your reply .Yeh, not having batch codes and or dates isn’t good. There are better pellets out there. But a big thanks for highlighting their shortfalls and saving folk some money as they’re not cheap. Safe to say we take your comments and reviews seriously
I would try them after putting them through a resizer. I got the biggest resizer I could find on ebay as to let the barrel grooves still do their thing. Now super smooth loading and groups are a lot better with my hades.
Definitely need to be careful sizing down the biggest pellets and these are unusually large. Trying to size these down concentrically would probably be almost impossible. One of them wouldn't even fit the head measuring gauge ☹️
A gentle size down though for a soft jsb can definitely reap rewards in some barrels 100% 😉
Great to see you shoot so well, most of the airguns I've owned would make the target look like I'd used my browning with 28g of no6 shot 😄 how much does that set up cost ?
I can't possibly answer that 😳🫣 my wife reads the comments 😆😆
The red xti is about 4k worth. So pretty dear, however... Reality is that I can shoot very similar scores with my near 9 year old s510. 😉
I get very good results with the 10.9gr JTS in my AAS400 Classic and in my MPR speed +- 720ft/sec I also lube it with Technical graphite oil to keep the barrel clean. It soften the fouling and it is blown out.
great review diferent barrels ect well thought out review thank you
Cheers mate 😀
Hi Mr Tilly, a better title would have been "A new low in expensive pellet design". The look on your face as you were trying to gently load a pint sized pellet into a half pint barrel was priceless! The general rule(s) that every gun has it's pellet or the pellet choses the gun is busted now, let's call it "Tillys Law"- Some pellets are terrible, whatever their price in any gun.
I've been testing (RWS) Geco, lead free flatties in my Airacuda Max .177, cheaper than chips and not too shabby for pest control (range tested) but in the field testing with card targets? If you snag a rock with one the ricochet zzzzzzzzzzzzing is embarrassingly terrifying!
And a compliment and suggestion; So you buy a tin of pellets and test fire them which is what your average airgunner does, you give us straight out of the can findings, bravo on the testing honesty. Could I suggest that you go to a "I'll go and weigh/measure the rest of this can" cut to find out why they are so good/bad after you have done your 20m test to give us a why so good/bad before extending the range.
If this stuff was easy it would be boring, thank you and keep on doing your thing
im glad you got some, i have been shooting them a little while now and the heavies are large as well. have you not seen the ones same shape as jsb heavies as well they perform the same plus you can get them a lot cheaper than £15
I'm a little put off mate now tbh. Especially with the lack of batch codes..
I'll happily accept this is just a bad batch/tin. It happens we all know that ,but how can we avoid this batch or find known good ones🤔
I've been using these for 2-3 weeks in my Redwolf and found them 'ok' - mostly in still conditions. I agree that they are noticeably inconsistent when loading.
However, I tried a few in my HW44 pistol and it doesn't seem to like them at all - probably due to the lower power and pellets being tight to load.
Interestingly, the first tin I had was really good. Subsequent tins not so good.
I've never seen such large pellets mate. Since filming I picked a few more larger ones out and rodded them through another couple of barrels. They get really torn up😞
Shame as they look well made, clean and well packaged. I'd be interested to see chrono results from the pistol...
@@tillysgunstocks If I get a spare hour this week I'll do that for you.
The size variation explains this pellets bad performance. Perhaps the Chinese manufacturer is using a worn-out press, or running the machine faster than it was designed for. I use the .22 version in my BSA Hornet and it is OK at short range, but hopeless at 50yards. I'll stick with the Baracuda15's.
Hi mate, have the .22 got batch codes on the tins ? Have you ever measured any?
No batch codes as far as I can see. I didn't bother measuring them as i could feel the size was inconsistent as I fed them up the spout. Won't be buying anymore.
Morning TG. Great video, just not the best of results! How are they achieving the longer reduced centre section, is it at the expense of the head or skirt, or is the pellet longer than others overall? Maybe they had 5 different presses going and mixed and matched filling the tins. 😃😃
Hi mate, compared to an exact the mid section is at expense of the skirts flare. They are a little longer overall than a jsb heavy too. They look well formed ,clean and no damaged skirts .weight wise they are good but they're just too large. One would barely fit in the head measure. They are getting deformed on loading and the skirts smeared off the back.
It's weird there's no batch codes either 🤔
It would be interesting if you tried the heavier pellets TG, after much pellet testing my BSA R10 SE .177 definitely prefers the heavier pill.
I've settled on Bisley Magnums 10.65g which are the most accurate and consistent pellet in my rifle, followed by JSB Heavies @ 10.34g.
Just my findings.
An interesting presentation mate, nice one. 👍
Thanks for the video Have tested the JTS dead center s still think the JSB 10.3gr are lots better not much in it just got a tin of snowpeak of China 10.3gr but are around 11.2gr need cleaning not tested yet but probably ok for plinking..my guns don't like H&N FFT s
JSB 177 10.34 £12.50
A tin win win
It would be interesting to see what they do at FAC power levels.
Yep I'm curious too. My best guess at this point is they will get worse. The larger blast of air will almost certainly shred the skirts even more... Not sure.. we'll find out next year when the fac stuff arrives 😉
Barracuda 8 much cheaper and are great in my HW100
I use heavies in my Ghost, Red Wolf and Wolverine R, I’ve given up chasing pellets lol😂
H&N are really picking up a huge amount of new customers of late mate. It's great for the sport and the competition between brands should help push development forward and more aggressive pricing.
@@tillysgunstocks they are a fair bit harder than JSB and suffer less from potential damage
are you using JSB heavies in the red wolf, i shoot the same and on a mission to find the right pellet for it?
@@ianyanto123 I’ve tried several and find them the best. I shoot on an outside range and they are the least wind affected
Very disappointed in those. I use the .22 Dead Center and they have proved to be very good. Great review as always, cheers, Woody.
Hi mate, have your.22 got any batch codes on the tins? I also pulled out the papery disc from the lid of these incase it was hidden, but nothing obvious🤔
It was a fun test as it kept me on my toes but very disappointed with the results
Did you try resizing the pellets ?
Tried these 2 or 3 weeks back, TI50, not impressed, random grouping, flyers, may suit other barrels, maybe even the XTI 50 with some stripper adjustment, i even emailed JTS in 3 occasions to ask for the BC, no reply, so that speaks volumes, they either dont know or dont care, either way i wont be likely to buy another of their products!
*EDIT* XTI50, not TI50 (oops)
I doubt they'd tighten up with any rig tweeks mate. Them large ones are getting heavily deformed on loading. I'd need a toffee hammer to bash em in the 9015 factory barrel 😆
You noticed the little ring around the top the heads on some? That looks like the swaging dies used by h&n ,or that style of tooling...they leave a tiny area for the air to escape. Hence the nipples found on some bismags and Barracudas
Don't they offer a head size to buy like Air Arms and JSB do?
Some of my rifles love a 4.52 and others 4.51.
They do a lovely mixed pack mate, one tin contains every size you might need randomly distributed throughout 🫣
There quality ammo...good in most rifles... apparently jts..got machinery from germany. Had set up a factory in china...cheaper then setting up in usa.....
Interesting you say that, as I've got further through the tin a few of the pellets have similar light ring marks around the heads as you occasionally see on h&n pellets.🤔
The sizing though is not ideal through this tin
Doesnt shoot like quality ammo
@@tillysgunstocks with my testing only did 30 yards..so I would.nt no wat 50 yard groups would be..did them in daystate..hw100...s410..s510...ghost...vulcan..vixen....
Hi great vid as normal ,who is that pellet gauge made by?
They're made by field target shop in Lithuania mate. It's my mate audrius who makes them. He makes all my hardware for me too 😀
@@tillysgunstocks cheers do you have a link
They're not living up to the youtube Hype. No thank you. I'll take fifteen hundred econ 2s please 😂
Best budget pellets ever made mate.wise choice 😉
💯
Those cuts in the pellets are far too deep, I recon its affecting the stability of the pellet whilst spinning, try " sizing " them down, preferably in increments, apart from that, I was expecting excellence straight out the tin, fantastic testing, there's 1000's relying on you with this one, don't mind paying £17 a tin, even if it means doing a little alteration ( sizing ) to get top notch accuracy.. I know you shouldn't have to do it, but if used for competition it would be worth it...
I'll do a vid in the future mate about sizing. I'll keep some of these for the vid as trying to size these down even incrementally is alot harder to do whilst maintaining concentricity. The rim of the head will vary hugely between them(once sized) on account of the massive variation of starting sizes . That can often cause bigger FPS spreads than is ideal. I'll go through it when I get chance but the key thing is always to start with the most consistent batches and then work them Into something useful.😀
What does "2 Syds" mean on your target paper?? LOLOLOL
Pmsl... Don't forget I'm a cackhanded lefty.. I shoot right handed though... 25yds🫣
@@tillysgunstocks I know. I was just funnin' with you. Although, come to think of it, it would be cool to start measuring airgun shooting distances in 'Syds'. One Syd would be 10 yards, 2 Syds - 20 yards, etc. etc. etc...
"Say, how far away was that varmint?"
"Ohh, about 3 Syds."
Hahahaaaaa
Wow, what a waste of time and money, was going to try them, decided I would stay with JSB/H&N
I can't disagree after trying these mate. If youve not tried the Brazilian pellets yet they were great fun and they (in my barrels atleast) were mega in the wind.😉
Thsts really disappointing. I've been using the. 22 for over a year and had really fantastic results in both my .22 rifles. I was waiting to see the .177s become available, but this has inspired me to look elsewhere.
Have you measured any by chance mate of the .22? Do the .22 have batch codes on them?
Wow those rifling groves were very heavy. Not great pellets.
I've done enough vids now with those barrels we can all see they are known good barrels and all very accurate in their own rights eh. I don't think I've ever seen such a broad spread in size.. ever 🤔
@@tillysgunstocks shocking really. For that price range too.
Once again , price is not a determining factor of quality .
A😘💕👍👍
expensive junk !!! 😅
Yeah you lot all best watch the video twice now to replenish the channel budget after these ones 😆😆
Gotta say though, I was very disappointed. Especially at the price point ☹️
Looks like expensive rubbish.
