Just wish Noctua fans didn't look ugly as hell! Im using Corsair sp120's there basically the same plus they look really nice in your case
AF's and SP's for the win.
Spray paint them bitches.
dasupasin Heresy.
dasupasin
Wear the tan fan with pride. Its the mark of good quality.
If only I could afford one t_t
Samuel Wicks Worst fans ever.
Those new fans look like something my grandma would have in her pc...
always enjoyed watching linus' videos :)
I was thinking of getting the R4 with the window when I build my rig. How do you find it? I heard it's very easy to build with and keeps things extremely quiet, even for cards with stock coolers etc.
Personal Computer Computer
My specs are,
Pentium III 650MHz
192 MB SDRAM
Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4
It's not a bad machine :P
if thats your pc then how did you watch the video? it would be soooooo laggy that it would be unplayable
Eth5471 Hes probably kidding -.-
I noticed the lighting wasnt vary good during the shooting of this video. I couldnt see what you were doing most of the time inside the case. Maby thats something you should look into for the future. Great cooling ideas by the way! Where did you get the low noise cables?
this is a great video!!
If you want really silent computer..take your PC to another room, and find very long vga or hdmi cable for monitor.
You sir are a genius
might as well get rid of my doors cause im never gonna close them
lol I think a closet might also work
Lol yeah, then USB extension cables with repeaters for keyboard and mouse
Diddleshot
there is wireless technology...
Wants to make the system more silent.... replaces the entire GPU. Not really what I was looking for =P
But it is a great guide nonetheless
I am going to be silencing my computer in the next week or two so I was just gunna ask is it worth getting the rubber mounts and some gaskets for my case fans or is it overkill?
Hey good tips. I have close to the same setup. I've been eplacing fans in my antec 1200 and noticed now that the loudest fan is actually on my corsair tx850w PSU. Would you have any replacement recommendations? The fan is kind of warped so it will rub which is so annoying! I've broken my warranty by taking it apart so that avenue is closed.
I wish I was that customer
Don't quite agree with the less fans for quieter PC...My PC has 9 fans in it and under load and at idle it's barely audible. I would say more fans as then you have more fans for airflow so they won't need to run at a high RPM whereas having less fans they would need to run faster to move the same amount of air meaning they will be louder.....But my opinion :P
fans = noise. fans X 2= noise X 2. More fans = more noise. 9 fans = more noise than 8 fans
Depends if you have them under a fan controller if you don't then yeah I can imagine more fans would equal a PC which sounds like a jet :P
Ludovick Erickson Really? So you think mixing 2x 40% alcohol boose gets you 80%? Same thinking.
If you have 10 fans, everyone running on same RPM, you will barely hear any difference between 1 and 10 fans.
oh i guess running 10 cars in a garage sounds the same as one car then. your sound logic is flawless
Well as a car is loud to begin with then yeah...Well done... I am talking about a little fan here -.- But if cars had a noise level dial like a fan you could turn up and down you could make 10 cars sound like 1 car without that function. Or if to put it simply Graphics Cards are a great example a card with 1 fan and a card with 2-3 fans which is going to be louder while gaming??
if my mother board has only 1 input socket for a system fan, are there any adapters i can use to have more than 1 case fan?
I am going to buy a Corsair CC650DW Obsidian Series 650D and heard read that it has two loud 200mm fans. I also read, that standard 200mm fans are to wide to fit in the case. Is there any good and silent help?
(I would take 3 SilverStone AP121 fans for the back and top, but then I still have one loud 200mm in the front.)
Am i the only one to not give a *F* about PC's noise for my gaming rig ? :P
some people have them in their bedrooms and like to sleep at night.
mine stays on overnight sometimes doing processing/backups
hamfish MIne aswell, but honestly i can sleep without issues even with noise n' stuff :P
Probably haha unless you use headphones, the extra noise gets in the way of the experience.
You go through all the effort to remove signal noise from your audio, only to put up with air noise?
I don't give an F about anything besides the noise. I get headaches every day that are triggered by noise so nothing else is more important to me than minimizing noise. Not performance, cost, or appearance.
My specs are:
2 pound Potato.
Hah i just got the new 1.5 pound potato. Suck it!
nikolai1790 ooo yeeeeee i got a stone for 1 pound runs every thing on 1080p
ManiacPalcon MPC Got an Electron runs everything on 10K
Thanks, will definitely consider it
is it okay to leave the old thermal compound on the cpu and install the cooler? im not sure if i should clean the cpu or leave the old thermal compound and along with new pre inserted-thermal compound from the h80i....
Can someone be kind enought to help me with my fans? I have 3 Noctua nf-f12 fans. Back exhaust, top intake, front intake. My motherboard has 1 4pin header and one 3 pin. I wanted to connect 2 fans to low noise adapters and then to y-cable and to the header. Like linus did in this video, I turn the pc on and they dont spin, when I remove the low noise adapters they spin fine so whats up?
I think the noisier component of my pc is my Corsair TX750M, but I heard is a silent pus, maybe mine is defective or maybe the psus are noisier than I thought. Any similar experience with the same PSU?
Hi, What should I expect if I change the coolers of my two H80i watercooling systems by a Noctua NF-P12? Only a lower noise but same average CPU temperatures? or I should also expect a higher temperatures? My system has 2 x Xeon E52650 with 2 x H80i cooling systems.
Is there ANY way to buy the ultra low noise adapter separate?
I have an NZXT Phantom, and it runs around 40 degrees under load with almost no sound, but I want it to be silent as my dogs farts.
will the low noise adapters still work if you have to plug it directly into your PSU?
This is probably a stupid question but... what screw driver was that at 6:05 ?
will AMD FX work better if i use multi threaded software?
my program (3d rendering) can use up to 64 threads / cores, and when the FX get bench marked, they use games which normaly only use 2 threads, or 2 cores and not support HT. any answers?
Using the ultra-low noise adapter like that, will the cooling be efficient enough?
I have heard that larger fans are generally quieter. If I use 200mm fans in replacement of 140mm fans (Yes, my case does have multiple case-fan screw holes) would it make a reasonable noise difference?
Does Noctua make silent 200mm fans?
i Have the Corsair 650 Obsidian case and it has two of them...
Hey guys, I need help here, I've cleaned out my Heatsink, fan and PSU, but my PC is still loud as hell, should I get a new case with more fans on the side to help with airflow and will that help quieten it down? Thanks:)
What did you use to remove the old thermal paste?
Hey, ncix tech tips, I have a question. I am sure about having a netbook, but here is the issue, I like playing games. May it be known that I do not care about graphical detail nor resolution. What is the best netbook( or sub 14" notebook) I can get for this? Thank you.
What brand is the screwdriver he's using? pretty nice one.
Would a 560ti (Slightly OC'd) run most games fine, and how long until I would have to SLI to still keep up with the latest games ?
Does your case have dust filters? Or does the dust just live everywhere BUT your case?
have a 4670k on a msi b85m g43 and a gtx 650 ti boost psu corsair tx750w the case is a ciorsair 500r.
Wanna upgrade twocorsair sp120 quit fans one sp140 and a corsair h80i is it a good upgrade wanna make the case quiet please reply
So, I'm thinking about getting a new case, Mobo , a watercool setup (so i can finally OC my i7 2600k) along with some other parts for my comp. Going to be getting another 660ti FTW sig2 for SLI, so I figure water cooling might help with that, hopefully it doesn't leak on me. Any suggestions for upgrades? Current setup is i7 2600k non OC, gtx 660ti FTW sig2, 16gb ram, Asrock pro3 mobo with pci 2.0 =p.
I've got a Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 6950 2GB (OC edition) and it is very long, So long in fact that the card appears to be flexing under it's own weight. It isn't really flexing a whole lot but I'm just wondering if this is normal of if I should put something in the case to support it. Thanks.
I have just bought and build a new computer, but my MSI N770 Lightning sometimes starts to vibrate. When I press the card up a little it stops. Does anyone know things I can try to stop it?
I did something with the cable management, and it has stopped already. Thanks for the help though :)
Same thing happened to me and it was the GPU vibrating the other PCI tabs :p.
It was very simple to build overall, with LOTS of cable management space. Its very quiet even with the stock R2 fans thanks to its sound dampening materials. I had it for around 3 weeks and i love it
are evga gtx 650 ti boost can work on hp Compaq dc7900 Convertible Minitower?
I got a Rhéobus from Aerocool "Touch 2100" does it effects noise of the my gaming machine ?
i5 3570k
GTX 660 Twin FrozrIII
2 Aerocool Shark Blue Edition 140mm
1 Aerocool Silent master 200mm
and 2 stock Fan
i have a cooler master elite 361 pc case it support 2 120 mm fans 1 on top and 1 on side and 2 80 mm fans both on the back as the power supply is in the front i have used 2 noctua nf-r8 80 mm fans on the back and 3 nf p12 1 on the top as exhaust and 2 for the corsair h70 water cooler as intake there is only 1 exhaust fan in my pc case that is on the top nf p 12 all others that are 2 p 12 for the water cooler and 2 nf r8 at the back are all intake linus plz tell me if i can improve anything thnx
I have a cm storm enforcer, should i change it ?
if yes then to what ?, thank to any advices.
spraypaint maybe? but i don't know how safe that would be or if it will affect ballance and airflow
Is there a program that I can use to manage my CPU fan speeds?
im going with the NZXT Phantom full tower case it has. The H60 CPU cooler, BitFenix Spectre 200mm front, BitFenix Spectre 140mm side , BitFenix Spectre 120mm x2 side and the BitFenix Spectre 200mm for the top. this is my graphics card Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 OC 2GB. Anything else to make it silent and cooler??
if you didnt OC it then the stock cooler should be fine, maybe its due for clean up and thermal paste replacement?
where can i get those low noise adapters?
if i buy a cpu cooler like that can i mount the fan to the side pannel
shouldn't the h70 been placed as an intake instead of an axhaust?
Is the case nearly airtight and under positive pressure?
What screwdriver is Linus using?can somebody tell me?
Thank you good Sir!
how much are you willing to spend and what do you plan to record
What gamer uses the stock cooler at all?
Anybody know How much worse noise with the nf-f12 instead of p12 ?.I will have a greatly improve in the temperature ?.
But it was running at 8x,not sure if it`ll make the games run at lower FPS, so I tried to put in the 16x slot again and it began to bottleneck everything and I`m currently at the 2 slot which is 8x
Does this problem is in the MOBO or in the GPU?
My PC specs:
i7 - 3770(not k) with EVGA Superclock cooler
16GB RAM Corsair Vegeance
1TB HDD
GTX 660 TI PE MSI
Maximus V Formula as MOBO
750w Corsair power supply
What else could cause this problem?
I also got the Corsair H100 closed loop, I've tried to avoid stock cpu coolers since a very loud and hot P4.
Have you checked out that you don't have any dust on your gpu heatsink? That usually causes that kind of heating. My cpu had like 25% of it's heatsink blocked with dust and after getting it away my temperatures got down from 80c to 60c.
Linus please respond, I have a really good pc and I play csgo and it will get loud, what can I buy, and or do to help it please answer
+crawfisk How many fans in the case do you have? Do you know the model of each?
Gratz on your new PC :3.....FYI Stock CPU fan is noisy as hell o.O Odered water cooling kit yesterday to quieten it up XD (you can reduce the noise with software that comes with mobo though)
I like the look of Nactua. i am going put few in my new rig next year
i was playing far cry 3 on max setting and temperature was between 70 to 75C on my 660 ti...is this normal or should i be concerned
What is the heat under full load?
i have a i7 3770 and i ran out of bucks so i had to use the stock fan,now it gets 52-58 degree at gaming how can i cool it down its a very new one no dust nothing i want to keep it cooler though using 20bucks any ideas plzz....and it lags like hell with the heat
Im trying to build a gaming pc for under 500 dollars any suggestions on parts i should use that would fit together
I have very recently purchased this case and I can safely say that standard 200mm fans fit perfectly (I have a CM Megaflow 200 installed in the front). The fans are not too loud but the Megaflow is definitely MUCH quieter and pushes a lot more air. The three speed fan controller also helps. ;)
NCIX, do you build systems in US or just sell parts?
Would you look at the size of that CASE?!!?! Does it echo in there?
Why You dont buy the artic cooling xtreme gpu cooling system? A wat silent option and much cheaper tan replace the gpu
Bottom line, if you want to go silent remove all the fans as possible and replace them all with liquid cooling or passive cooling units. Though Corsair H series coolers are a good starting point for changing over to a liquid system. Currently they only make CPU version with no plans on making enclosed GPU coolers. Besides making a water cooling system from scratch isn't as hard as you'd think. You need a pump, a radiator or two, a reservoir, heat blocks, tubing, connectors, and mounts. And of course a case and power supply capable of taking of all these components.
If you wanted the least noise, why didn't you with with a custom liquid cycle?
I got a set of Noctua fans for my CPU cooler and then spray painted them black and added carbon fiber vinyl to match my carbon fiber case I built last year. But really I have to say I'm very impressed with the performance its even cooler that some of the liquid cooling builds I have done in the past.
Can anyone recommend a really quiet pc case for under £100? I'm running a standard atx board, radeon 7870, single 120mm radiator for cpu, an ssd and standard hdd. There's so much choice out there that i have no idea what to go for, i'm a fan of simple clean design like the fractals. Thanks.
It would be nice if someone could do noise demos of the components.. i have no idea how silent that grafics card really is..
I am planning to build a dead silent gaming pc, but i am not sure if its even possible.
Why didn't you put the radiator in the top area?
thx, going to buy one ;)
from what i see, the speed cant be controlled with the molex adapters so im gonna try to use the quietest 140mm/120mm fans i can find at full speed, possibly im gonna use the bitfenix spectre 120/140mm fans as they have a max rpm of 1100 which i believe should be considered fairly quiet still, though im still a little concerned on the noise level db part because a lot of the times its inaccurate or they don't list the loudest db, only the lowest...
I have an Intel Core i5 3570k and I want some water cooling for it! Do anybody have any tips for a water cooling system that is easy to install?
Where can I buy that screwdriver...
im not sure what a "TDR" problem is but if after changing PCIE Slot everything works fine then yeah its the PCIE slot on the mobo thats not working proprely and no running at 8x wont make a difference
I'm gonna say beauty is in the eye of the beholder here...
personally, i would've also changed the case to something like the Define R4, those mod-vent panels help the airflow and all the panels including the front 'vanity' panel have soundproofing on them
Hey there. I'm about to buy an i5 3570k 3.4GHz processor for my computer. I want it to be cool enough to overclock, but I know nothing about fans to do so. My preferred budget is £30 although I can go a bit higher. Please help me.
Two thoughts regarding this lesson: the lighting could be better, and there is no comparison of audio levels before and after. It doesn't matter now as this video is nearly three years old.
Spinning fan blades (much like propellers) create noise cavitation. Bearings do wear and subtly add to the noise level. Computer cases were not initially designed with airflow in mind because it wasn't much of an issue. Modern high performance computers dissipate the heat of a small stove as waste energy. What's a gamer going to do with all that heat energy? Coffee warmer?
my thoughts too....no measuring of audio levels before and after.???
I got an AMD Phantom II X6 1050T with stock cooler and I want to replace it with liquid cooler because it gets too hot sometimes :/
your motherboard manufacturer website, probly under the support > driver section, altho you should read the risk of doing it before, and then see if you should still try it
No sound test?
In Store, there was a free upgrade from 750 to 850 Watts, So i took it. Your's a Nice build
What case did he use?
Buy a bag of small thin rubber washers. Put one in every spot where you have components attached to each other or to the case by screws. While you are in the case clean out some of the dust. Done. It won't make it silent but it will help with some vibration noise issues and only costs about $2.00.
Standard power supplyes have the kables fixed in the PS no matter if you need them or not. Fully modular PS don't have any cables pre-installed, and you can plug in the cables that you need to run your system, no need to waste air flow in your PC with unnessesery cables.
how long il keep the gpu for will depend on how quiet and good the performance it is, either il get a ok one right now without a aftermarket cooler and then upgrade to a better one in a year or two with a cooler and quieter fan, or il get one really good now with a quieter and cooler running fan. possibly a artic cooling one or other good quiet brand, il be probably using molex to 3 pin male adapters for the case fans as the motherboard wont have more than a few header ports for the fans.
In my opinion it goes pretty well together with a white case, I guess it helps if you think of it as chocolate and cream colored.
I have filled pretty much filled my white NZXT Switch with these fans and after you've gotten used to the colors they seem to fit in just fine.
nice come back bro.and also read THE OTHER 5000! massages
how do you guys ship those machines across the country? Cause I know for a fact that the UPS people throw the shit in and out of the trucks they get sent in.
I wonder if (water-) coolers are big enough and waterpump strong enough, is it possible to build gaming computer with zero sound. Full system without fans.
Where do I get it?
