2012: PC 1080p 140fps while moving
2014: Console 900p 30fps while standing
Truly the future is now.
900p 30fps is a miracle for consoles
X/2 Depends on the game.
He has dual 590's, that was the best back then! when he would use two r9 295x (best of 2014) cards he would get so much more performance
MISTER AGB its only getting better and btw. this is bf3, not crysis 3 on 4k ultra
MISTER AGB
lol r9 295x the best rofl you had me going. Good show good show.
haha i still remember watching this 4 years ago but it still good for now :D
AzimSobri yea 1080p pfft
just started watching some of your videos, very complete guides, very conclusive reviews and you just helped me a lot about my computer compounds knowledge.
It'd great to see how others do their set up. Learned a few other tricks from this series.
Came here because Linus mentioned it in the WAN show.
it will be perfect when you write the hardware into the description :D pls. thank you.
( excuse for my english )
NCIX, thank you for sharing your awesome videos; this video was exceptional, great coverage over everything, not just "installation" but possible mis-haps such as tubing that needs to be extended diagonally. Once again, thank you!
That cablemanagment ... You are the king, Linus!
can you do a video about how to drain a loop properly, I want to add a GPU and don't want to mess it up.
Drain the reserve water and let the running water get back to the water case (i dont know what to call it) the do it many times
Try if it works
He's done a part 4 showing how
why was the pc in front on the monitor...
Awesome guide. I never felt the need to do a water cooling setup before but now I'm really interested
Great video Linus... this was very helpful! I am looking to do something like this down the line and now thanks to you, I have a good base to learn more.
Instead of the green lights, I would use a Black light to make the green really pop.
black light?? pls show me black light.
Blacklight is a UV light
Put neon fluid in and put a black light OP SET OP FOR DAYS!!! SWAG NOODLE 9000!
SkrullePuwzz Ultra violet dont sound like black -_-
***** black and UV are the same thing when it comes to lights.
Fun unrelated fact: I really don't need to know any of this, I just like Linus's face.
We all like Linus' face.
***** gay is great!
***** You are ugly
Cool vids. Made an enjoyable watch as always
Awesome series thank you for making it!
culd one get a pump with a combustion engine? that wuld be incredibly supid, and soo freaking awesome!
Total Stalin Sure, let's make the water cooling circuit blow the fuck up when you turn on the PC :D
22:36 Made in CHINA :) :D
Everything is made in china lol
lol this world is made in china
He could be chinese as far as you concern :P
HellzHonour Mao Zedong
Actually civilization started in the continent of Africa.
Thank you so much for this very helpful video!
That's insane frame rates and superb water cooling man awesome
well im never gonna attempt to water cool my pc. i will surely screw up
Yo who here in 2018
GJ Linus,its a masterpiece.
Very informative, thanks!
I have hd 4600 graphics and I can max out today's games with 50-60 average fps
bullshit.
correct.
lmao
Although it is surprising what the hd4600 can still run. The new grid auto sport for example. At low settings obviously, but still...
lee smith the a10 7850k is even more impressive... sure, it was MADE to be used instead of a discreet gpu, but still... bf4 high to ultra graphics at 720p with ~40fps... damn...
Geez. Way too much work. Just dump your whole system in a nonconductive water box.
"Nonconductive" water will become conductive very quickly, after being in contact with various metals in the system. On the order of a few hours to a few days.
Mythricia Mineral oil wont ionize C:
can be done :)
just wash it in water and soap rince well then give it alot of time to dry
***** its a must to wash all pc parts .....i dont know why linus doesnt say this
Came here because it was in my Watch later lol so dope. I remember I needed this video for my first build. Never did the water cooling though lol enjoyed the video though.
great bro after 3 year of this video help me so much ,by the way currently in you tube
no such like this installation video cant see (simply how patiently you describe) ...
good vid. much appreciate gave many hint and tips my 3 fan ek rad and 1 fan rad tj03 case with top taking places and holes finished now I do it complete.
Hey Linus!
Im having a big problem I'm hoping you (or the community) can help me with and they are my INSANE microbubbles!!!
I've done many soft tube builds but decided to go with 1/2" rigid copper for this build. Used jb marine weld for all the joints. Looks amazing and I just completed last night after over a month of waiting for parts and building. Using an alphacool vpp655t pump. Alphacool rad, aquacomputer Cuplex Kryos copper cpu block and matching aquacomputer kryographics pascal copper edition.
For the build I made sure to clean everything thoroughly and performed 3 full flushes with straight distilled prior to boot which is when I noticed the problem.
I let it run over night but turned the pump down to medium so that the bubbles wouldn't get sucked back in the loop. Checked it out today and was happy so turned it back up to full and there are so many again!
There are so many that there's a small layar of foam on top.
really nice worksmanship :)
I like the way the case is obstructing the gameplay -that's some convincing game footage arround the corners.
good thing we can see the screen so nicely.
I can't wait to do this for my phantom 820 in the future
So I've been looking all over the place for a tutorial that shows what to do with the wiring of the fans, and have no luck. I'm getting a 360mm rad and plan to put it in push pull configuration (3 on each side), what do I do with the 6 leads? Should I get some splitters and hook it up to a fan controller? Or get a bunch of splitters and merge it into one and hook it up to the CPU fan header?
This video is gonna be mega helpful in future for me, gotta get the money though first.
Should of went with the UV coolent and a UV tube. I love the effects. Great video. Looking to build my liquid cooling system soon
This looks really nice. I am using fans to cool down my processor but one day I will build a machine with water cooling system just because it looks really good.
Retro rig!
A lot has changed in 4 years but somehow there are still some relevant tips here.
Linus....
A pure genius
The stock Swiftech D5 variant pump comes with non removable barb fittings. There are newer variants that do have removable fittings that will allow you to use your own preference of fittings.
Cool but personally I'd use clear tubes, clear liquid, and add fluroscein for a nice effect.
this is the best water cooling guide ive found, anyone have any other guides that are comparably good?
AWESOME!
Just a question, if I have a Corsair 600 watt power supply, and I put 2-way SLI GeForce gtx 660ti 2gb video cards, will the power supply not be able to handle it or will it be fine?
"The difference between the hottest part of your loop and the coolest part of your loop is about 0.1 degrees." Thank you so much for telling me that, I totally didn't know that. Thought it would be better to feed it through a radiator between components! !
He's doing it for noobs like me, not for advanced builders!
I wasn't being sarcastic mate, I was literally going to set up a 120mm rad between components because that's how people told me to do it!
Reading over it I see how it sounds really sarcastic though lol
Oh yeah, haha! Yes I can see that :D
ahhh remarkable 6 slot memory lay out! X58 hooks up a lot old stories.
Pretty sick imo.
And also hot air rises, and the pci slots usually are perfurated in case of dual pci slot cards.
so when you refill the reservoir and get it pumping the fluid, do u only need the PSU switch on to circulate the fluid the the radiator, cpu, etc or do u have to also turn on the computer?
thanks
This case is designed with airflow coming in through the bottom and out the top, Hot air rises. It is also really beneficial if your using heavy waterblocks for your graphics cards it's good because the weight wont put stress on the PCi slots.
Yes please.
Awesome video, pretty wild shit.
swiftech are really really good.no leak and no noises and really good performance
I definetely agree with you as far as getting fluid all over the place is conserned but that is an extremely rare case and usually happens if you do a slopy ass job , but even then if you select the correct type of fluid you can avoid a ton of problems that might be caused by leaks. I would suggest getting one that does not conduct electricity or even buy a volatile cooling liquid.
Haha it's awesome watching this video as of today. I just happen to get my hands on a g1 guerrilla board which is very similar, and an i7 980. I plan to make it as best as the hardware allows and eventually adding really nice water cooling much like this but in a smaller spectrum to fit my case. I've seen this hardware in action and as of this day, with a GTX 980 with a water block (cpu is just enough to support it) this would still be a killer machine playing games at high settings. My hopes and intentions aren't set rediculously high, but I do plan for great 1080p quality gaming at around 60+ fps.
People don't usually watercool for lower temperatures alone, usually extreme overclocking or e-peen contests. Heck even aftermarket air cooling heatsinks aren't necessary for keeping a processor at a working temperature, but only if you have no interest in overclocking or if you don't have a lot of money to spend on a computer.
Hey great vid u explained filling loop the best out all the videos on youtube wich had best tips in that fastest amount of time that is easy to under stand for noobs new to water cooling . thanks for the tip on the air bubbles. Keep up great work, also what case is that? Be nice to use for a home server I want to build after my Gameing rig. Thanks again for great video keep up great work I subbed
question before I break my h100 to get a better cooling build can you salvage that radiator from the h100? If so is buying a different one any better or difference in temps?
stock fans and coolers suck i play crysis 3 beta with max fan speed and my gpu gets to 70C-74C on a gtx ftw 4gb.(non overclocked)
Just to state the obvious: I want this more than anything right now.
are all fittings compatible with all mounting holes on the block's? so that you only have to match the tubing and fitting?
I will say I was skeptical about it too, but I opted in and purchased an H100 and am enjoying it. I will probably do a custom loop next time though. :D
Toooo cooooool!! I need this
In the winter time, can I bypass the in case reservoir with tubes that lead to a reservoir outside for free super cold water? (of course making sure the pump isn't trying to pull too much water)
Thank you homie!
At 14:35 is that the motherboard cable he is sticking the paperclip into?
Does this also work the same for full modular PSU's? I got a Corsair professional AX1200 here and im starting watercooling next week.
Any help would be appreciated
2 years ago or so I built my brother a 4.3 GHz overclocked beast that used air cooling. It works great, although the fans make it extremely noisy and it's a dust magnet. Once I get a job and can afford to build my own rig, I'm going to use water cooling. :)
what music do they use in the surface pro 3 advert?
Do those metal fans help at all with cooling effectiveness? Do you have a video comparing plastic and metal fans?
I have a question When u jump your psu, do u leave the wires ( CPU wire, pci -e,etc) on or do you take them off ?
Best music evar!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I believe that with my bigger case the (HAF X) it will fit like a charm. Did you leave it with the 4 fan radiator?
Dude off the forums had the Corsair H60, 5-year warranty, it was defective and leaked.. But Corsair paid for all the damaged parts. But that was back a few years when the H60 first came out.
Linus you da man
It's a special case, the outputs are on the top :)
that is one kick ass rig
how does he run the video cords (d-sub/dvi/hdmi) since the graphics cards ports are at the top??
Any coolant will do? As long is I apply Biocide and place some kill coils?
Since the water is moving through the loop pretty fast and constantly it won't freeze. But ya there are also coolants made just for liquid cooling. (if you use distilled water you most likely will want to use a "silver kill coil" to prevent algae, etc.)
That's a beautiful PC.
what res is that? looking for a small one and haven't seen that one before
You have a point about airflow restriction, but there is no problem with the fans. They are covered by the spiraling grill you can see, no cable gets in there, especially blowing unto the cables.
would it be possible to use something different then water? like a thin baby oil or something other oil based product so in case of a leak it would not short-circuit the parts?
How would the H60 be in any way quieter? You've got noise from the pump and it's much harder to push air through so that fans have to run faster.
Rather than zip tying the tube to the reservoir, can you use some type of compression fitting?
can you tell me how much better this is than a pre built system such as the Corsair H100i?
what size compression fitting are those and what diameter hose are you using
i love that case... what model/brand is it?
how are those lights he attached in the case called? what brand are they? :)
And all that good stuff...
Depends more on the components themselves but to answer your question, no some motherboards are shell cased.
What type of barb fittings are those? does anyone have the model?
Also, if your wrench slip away, you can hit components on motherboard, and damage it.
Best is tight fittings already on waterblock away from the motherboard.
By the way, if you are sure that you will not hit components you can try this method of work.
if I am using a 200mm rad do I need another rad or can I just use the 200mm rad?
3/8in or 1/2in ID what do you think
And does those tubings in the video have 1/2in OD?
GRATS TIPS!
Would you get any noticeable difference if you had the graphics card and cpu with their own cooling blocks? I want to try this but i also want to know what i stated.
possible if i could get those PC specs and price of your PC total?
@21:17....no its not the mounting of the block that's the issue, the main card in ANY sli config (or crossfire) ALWAYS produces more heat than the 2nd or 3rd. Nvidia pointed this out years ago. the reason for this is sli or crossfire configs only add's 35-75% more gpu power to a system for gaming than just one card. and the main card still does most of the work, so it will produce more heat.
@LinusTechTips How did you mount the SSD's at the back?
ok, thanks :)
Aren't there some systems which run in oil (or some other liquid), like an aquarium?
@matthew broadbent use distilled water and a kill coil. Colored fluid causes gunk to build up in the blocks. Distilled water keeps this from happening.
