Hi mate, great video! Iv just got new casings for my 5eb due to cracked liners. The new cylinders are good but obviously off a used bike, I’m replacing the piston rings and using the original pistons, do you recommend I hone the new cylinders or just leave them?.. just to say a massive thank you, your videos gave me the confidence to get stuck in and have ago at rebuilding my engine 👍
@@JRRetroRebuilds Iv finished putting my engine back together following your videos intensively , done my head aswell, all lapped and new valve stem seals. Without your videos I would have never even attempted this job so a massive thank you.. I am having trouble however, the engine is back in the bike and running spot on, however when I click the bike into gear the gear shifter doesn’t come back to a central position you have to move it back with your foot whatever gear you are in , it’s almost like the spring isn’t working or maybe I haven’t fitted it correctly, Iv watched you doing it like 20 times but can’t see what Iv done wrong.. any suggestions? I have cleaned and oiled the gear linkages from the rear sets just to eliminate those being seized.. Many thanks
@@IsaacShelley-e5b hi mate thats awesome and very glad to hear it. your issue can only be that spring mate. see if you cn opperate it whislt watching what it does and then you should clearky see the issue. the only other issue could be a stiff gear selector so check that is free enough to easily move
also im not sure but was told they built the Firt R7 out or an R6 5sl Engine? bored to a 700cc is right could we have it bored out to a 700cc?? haha if so I think I mite have to
HI MATE ANOTHER QUESTION IF YOU DONT MND, THE 5EB IS MEANT TO HAVE A WEAK SPOT? MINE ON 36000 SEEMS TO RUN FINE BUT NOT AS TIGHT AS I LIKE IT, CAN I JUST BUY AN 5SL HEAD OF IT AND JUST FIT INSTEAD OF 5EB? PISTONS IN DONE??? HAHA I HOPE
Ive got a spare engine for my bike that i plan to rebuild in the future, though it runs fine. Leaving a comment for the algorithm, good work!

for a resleeve of the original engine you need to speak to james at super finishings uk and say jon sent you

Hey man I have a question if I'm doing the transmission will I have to drop the whole bottom half with with the rods and everything
Unfortunately you have to split the casing yes
