My first bike was an 01-02 R6. Learned how to ride, made a lot of riding mistakes but it never let me down. Ended up getting bigger carbs and opened up the exhaust all the way through and all I can say is I miss it so much. Haven't rode in 4 years and am looking to get another. You did great with this one.
I have the same bike and want to do a full rebuild as well as some light performance upgrades. The bike has sentimental value which is why I’m doing it. Having troubles finding parts online any times for finding engine/trans parts for the 1st gens. Thanks in advance!
I've just watched the two-part series. Great work, man! found a Gen 1 for sale surprisingly low mileage for the age but did not think there'd be hope to modernise it. Would you suggest a Gen 1 for a new rider considering potential repair work needed?
You sould get a go pro or 360 cam and showcase montages of yourself actually working on the bikes like sanding, painitng, body work, torquing bolts down, and installing assemblies
so did you put a 2nd hand crank in , with a 2nd hand set of con rods, put new rods onto old pistons as theyre fine, then new mains and big end bearings? really nice job man
I had our sponsors Jetmotorsports find us a good used one. In the end it was cheaper that having the old one machined to a lower than standard thickness and it came with matching pistons and rods.
Hi there.....I am also working on the exact same bike and have an issue. While trying to pull the engine out I have run into a weird problem. All the bolts on the right side are loose. Back two bolts (the ones you take out last) are also loose. On the left side one out of the two is also loose but this second MF*** seems to hold the weight of the whole engine on its own and i can not take it out. Is there any tehnique you might know to help out. Btw if intrested it would be quite cool if we stayed in contact so we can help each other when needed hehe.
Awesome content, please keep it coming. YT algorithm only promotes shorts but we appreciate your effort

I put a used low mile crank rods and pistons in with new crankcase bearings.
@@EngineInformantwhere did you find the new crank case bearings cuz I'm having trouble finding any that don't cost an arm and a leg for a whole set?
Just curious, where did you source the rod bearings from?
Great build! Did you fix the crank or grab one from ebay?
