I love that so many of us older folks are ripping around on ebikes feeling like we're teenagers again. I almost felt embarrassed at first because I thought it was going to be a bunch of young teens but so many of all ages, it's nice to see.
This was the best done and most helpful review I have seen. Thank you very much. I am 70 and I have health issues that makes it difficult for me to hike very far. I love being outside and I get around quite well with a motor between my legs. I own an escalator, a tractor, a mower, a truck and a Z06 Corvette.....I can operate any of these all day and into the night. However, none of these toys will help me get down the trail or beach when I want to get out with nature or fish from shore. It is my hope that such a bike will add to this part of my life. Again, thank you for your time.
Best vid on the Rad Rover yet. Everyone else seems to sit back and throttle-up, whilst I wanted a bugs-in-your-teeth report on how good it is in PAS mode. I want to dump my car, get fit on it AND get my groceries from my town 10 miles away. The fact that you were blasting it yet had enough breath to talk, says it all. Thankyou!
I really like this review and have shared it with several people. Your enthusiasm for the Radrover overflows and it was a deciding factor in helping me decide to choose this particular ebike to buy. Of course, it contrasts with the 3,500 mile review, which (I apologize) made me laugh at your wonderful candor. You are probably an enigma to Rad Power Bikes... they cringe when they see the hell you put their bike through in that reservoir. Conversely, they owe you big time for promoting their product in your videos. I am certain your videos have contributed to their sales. They ought to send you a complimentary new ebike. You make that Radrover look fun, not just riding it, but with all the tinkering you do with it. Thank you Stan.
I am 51 yrs old and want to buy this e-bike. My spoiled teenager wants me to buy a high end $4000 e-bike. He thinks money falls from the sky. This RadRover is all I need for cruising at a great price. Thanks for a great review !!
Thanks Stan...that was a lot of fun riding along with you. I agree with others that Rad Bikes needs to put you on the payroll as you do a fine job of selling their product for them! I'm about ready to pull the trigger on one and looking foward to enjoying bicycling again after many years on the sidelines.
Just got mine..I live on the Mojave Desert in Southern California.. You're a much better rider than I am. I won't be riding my Rad Rover anywhere near the top speed until I really get adjusted to it.. The soft sand around my place is treacherous even with the fat tires. It is great fun to ride, and the bike is well made with a price that is real value for the money... Thanks for the great video!
I was fascinated ( and a little horrified!) by your ride. I plan on getting a Rad Rover, and I had no idea you could do those types of riding on it! Just like off-road mountain biking! I'm happy you didn't tear your leg out of the socket on a root, haha! You have checked another box for me on my list of pros! Thanks for the GREAT review video, and best wishes.
I've been riding the 2019 Rad Rover 2yrs now and it's cheaply made and will not function like this video. 😊 It's ok for old people who want to get out.
Great ride!! Had me biting my nails in spots. I can see by the way you ride, that you have been riding mtn bikes for quite a while.and you really know this trail Thanks for sharing.
Those trails look great and the benefit of your Rad is you can explore that type of stuff for hours. I really didn't expect a 65lb bike to be able to handle that. Great review video. It should be on the company's website.
Either way these pedal less ebikes are sure to raise government eyebrows and make it impossible to ignore the fact that you are riding a powered vehicle on trails that are designated otherwise. Stick to a pedal assist and we will have no problems in the future.
Love my Rad Rover but just basically ride it on the paved sidewalks in parks and drive slowly. It's still great fun and I am getting good exercise as I rarely take it past Pedal Assist 1. Going to get one for the wife.
Agreed. RadPower is excellent with customer service. Had mine come in with a broken shifter. Sent off a pic, they had a new one in the mail within a week. I think their biggest problem is keeping these bikes/parts in stock. I've been waiting over a month for a rear rack on my mini-step through. Very happy with the bike.
Stan! You are my Bro! I am close to your age methinks. I just bought this bike myself and I am hoping that after so many miles you've put on this sucker since you made this video. that you still feel the same. I have one advantage; I live very close to where these bikes are put together and I am going to pick up mine tomorrow fully assembled and I'm going to throw it into the back of my truck and take it from there. I can't believe the cool commute you have! Mine is mostly city, and you are a true trail warrior!. This will replace my cool but ancient mountain bike - an old Marin Muir woods, and your amazing cinematography (helmet cam?) You sold me dude!
Thanks Stan - I just received my new RadRover here in Canada, and your review helped sell me on it! (Should be on their web page, lol!) Incredible bike, so much fun. For my intended use I think of it as something between a road bike and a motorbike - it definitely rides differently than say a mountain bike (at 2x the weight). But at the same time it can go everywhere a bike can go ... and yeah it hauls! A friend took it on a spin yesterday, and within minutes he was talking about ordering one for himself. My one concern is theft - not a bike you’d want to leave unattended.
Thanks for the review, plan on getting one for this next hunting season in Texas, I live a couple hours north of Houston, your riding trail shows me that it will handle the public land trails I plan on exploring this summer and fall. Thanks again.
If I wasn’t sold on this bike before I sure am now. Stan you’re a legend mate! If this ends up being the one I get it will be all because of this video!
That is really neat! I would like to tell folks that on a trail similar to this, specifically in Texas but possibly in other states as well, walking, biking and equestrian use trails are all shared. You could easily encounter a horse back rider walking their horse on a trail with this silent wonder. I would inform you that horses need an opportunity to get an eyeball on a bike rider and if possible, from a distance. Even better if you completely stop and let the horseback rider walk past you. (Or if you are passing let them find a spot to yield the trail to you.) I know that is a hassle but most bike riders don't know that horses don't encounter bikes very often (if ever) and the horse can leave the trail possibly putting the rider and or horse in danger if you continue to approach at what you think is a slow pace... but to the horse, not so much. AND most trail riders are female and are youth. If the trail is as congested as this one is (and some are) the rider has nowhere to go to yield to you and they are 8-10 feet tall (horse plus rider). Anyway this is just to say I love the bike, scares me to think that could come up behind me and my horse. If you see a horseback rider, yell out way before you arrive so they know you are intending to pass. Happy to share the trail with you, just please don't kill any horse back riders or me. God bless.
This is great. My dad is pushing 60 and his doctor says he needs a bike. He lives is a really hilly area and it's not really fun struggling up those hills. We got him a radrover earlier today after some research and I think I'm going to get one for me to replace my 50cc scooter I take camping!
Looks like a blast!! Im in Houston I have a mongoose malus fat tire bike with a 750watt geared rear hub kit 52v 17.5ah battery I installed my self it hits 28mph I love it!! Be so fun to ride around there!!
Great riding mate. You know that Trail. I've been looking at these bikes for a while. They have only just started delivering to the UK. I'm tempted. Good review.
Who-eee! I really enjoyed your ride/video!! I almost felt like I was on that bicycle instead of you and a few times I thought for sure I was going to get a mouthful of bark as you zipped by some of those really close skinny trees.
I never seen a video that sold me so much on the item. I am getting one for sure. Trying to get my cousin in on this because they have deals going on now. 200 dollars off 2!
Well I have decided to get one. My adult children live in Washington so Over Christmas I will be out there and going to the Seattle store to pick one out.
Although interesting to get a feel for riding on it, it's not a review of the bike. However, it's a perspective that we seldom see from bike reviewers so thank you for that.
great review... it looks like you put the bike to the test... i do like how well it handled when you were having fender issues.. did you ever get new fenders and how do they handle and how is the bike handling now?
I felt like I was watching Return of the Jedi with those high speed chase scenes in the woods. High anxiety waiting for this guy to hit one of those trees. Be safe man.
I love my RadRover! Big and heavy and upright like a cruiser bike but it’s like a magic bike. I tried a $5000 Levo it was light and had a seat drppper but the Rover is less techy and more cruisy
Bought mine mid June of last year and just turned 1000 miles on it two weeks ago. I do ten miles a day and 20 miles twice during that week and......wanted to track my usage s o I have closed it now twice staring out with a full charge and riding it until the last box begins to blink and I will be fair and round it off but go 150 miles on a charge, probably more like 160 but did not want to get caught running it dry.
