Your thoughts on the whole "well you're not exercising if you're using an electric bike" is spot on. I bought a Rad Rover shortly after seeing your initial video and I love it. Think of it this way; you're getting 100% more exercise out using your bike than if you're not even out at all. I love my Rad Rover.
Jerry I have been watching you since 150k and I love watching you over come this weight issue. Jerry you were also the one who gave me the urge to lose weight. I was 15 going on to 16 years old and I weighed 326 pounds and back in June i started working as a plumber with my nieces dad and he saw i was depressed because of my weight and i told him how i wanted it to change and he suggested crossfit and mountain bike racing. He gave me his $800 mountain my for $100 and I love it. He also takes me to crossfit after work every day and I go to the gym everyday by myself now. I also loved shakes so much that i stopped eating the fattening one and also I do meal plans and just watch my eating and I feel like i have so much more energy. Its now November 11th and back on November 5th I officially lost 121.5 lb. I couldn't have done it without your inspiration and you sitting down and talking about your problems to us like we are family. To be honest it would be an honor to be apart of your family because you are my biggest role model and you just changed my life so much Thank you so much Jerry you changed my life for the best and I hope you keep making videos for as long as possible and you keep trying to lose weight like I we are in this fight together. Jerry you are my hero. Thnx
Hey Barnacules! Love your vids! If you're not a fan of those brakes, you can swap out for some higher quality cable brakes without having to do too all the work to make it into a hydraulic system! Some cable brakes stop just as hard... I'd know... 380lbs 6'7" beast over here! Keep it up!
I think people who dislike e-bikes because of the no exercise argument should take into account what you _aren't_ doing when you're out riding the bike instead. A couple of hours on an e-bike, getting a little bit of exercise is time _not_ spent on the couch getting negative amounts of exercise.
Pile of carbon By rough estimates he covered 25 miles a month give or take a couple miles. I cover that in a week because of college and getting up early on weekends. Yeah I have downtime, that's because I'm actually having to work my legs to get places. E-bikes have a place in the cycling community, just not in weight loss.
Loktoren I would strongly disagree with you there. It is really great as it is far better if they use an e-bike and only do half the work them self, than not using a bike at all.
ABaumstumpf There lies the issue. He doesn't have to work as hard so there isn't much of an excuse to at least do 10 miles a week. Yeah he has youtube to do, but it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to do a mile or two. I have a lot of respect for barnacles, that's why myself and others have expressed concerns about him not getting enough mileage.
Loktoren Yeah, but again - it is still better to get SOME kilometers than getting none. I find my self often enough not taking my bike when visiting my sister for example. i basically have 2 ways, the direct route going over some hills (2x ~200m) or the long way with an extra 8km each direction. An e-bike would make it far easier and i would use my bike more often for those distance. (and doesn't really help that it is nearly 50m just from my house to the street either... ) I can understand where you are coming from, but a e-bike is certainly helpful for him.

Barnacules Nerdgasm hi Jerry I was very interested in this bike when I saw the first video on it does the motor have a power return system for when you're not using it so you could prolong battery life?
I've read that that achieves very little on a bicycle, because riders are so used to managing the energy of coasting, by taking off the effort 50 yards before a junction etc. When you do need the brakes, the need is usually acute and immediate, and magnetic braking just won't do in those situations. Coming down a mountain is one of the few situations where regeneration might be handy.
Great video Jerry! I enjoyed your first one and it's interesting to hear how the RadRovers have been holding up. I'd love to see a vlog of your ride up Iron Horse and appreciate your humor but also that you filled in the tire divots :P
I can tell you are really stoked and 7 months later you are still stoked, that is so awesome... Looks like a life changer for real... I'm sold, buying one tomorrow...Thanks for a fun video...
Keep up the great work Jerry. I built my own electric bike this last summer from a conversion kit and a home built battery pack made from reused laptop batteries and I went from not biking back to regularly getting on the bike instead of taking the car at least while I had the time during the summer. During the summer I rode the bike nearly 2 times a week.
I'm glad to see you happy. the freedom that you can experience in a ride its beyond comparison. it helps to be away from depression and sadness. well at least for me. keep the smiles coming
Your enthusiasm is wonderful and I see that “e bike smile” on your face. While it’s so good to be outside enjoying yourself, it’s not a key to weight loss. Diet is overwhelmingly more important. Eat more plant based foods. Eliminate dairy especially cheese and processed milk products. Cut way back or better yet totally eliminate meat and animal foods. Never, ever eat processed meats. Buy only very healthy multi grain breads from a local bakery. Eat at vegetarian restaurants to get a better idea of what is possible for delicious plant based meals. Cut down portions. Eat fruit as a sweet snack. Watch Forks Over Knives. You have attitude galore and a good positive approach to things and you will succeed! Hope this helps! I can’t wait for my Rad Rover to arrive in two or three weeks!
I bought this bike a few months back because of your recommendation ! I bought it for the same reasons as you - for reducing weight and generally becoming more active. A heads-up - Mike Radenbaugh mentioned on the electricbikeforum that they will be introducing full cover fenders for the radrover soon so you might want to pick them up to give extra protection from rain and dirt.
Jerry. A few things. Point 1: You're looking well and congratulations on your weight loss so far. and Point 2: Thanks again for the re-review of this thing. Have been wondering how it has been going. It's a pitty they don't ship outside the US/Canada yet :(
I'm sorry but you use excuses instead of putting in work to lose weight. I lost 42lbs in less than a year by cycling 10km a day and watching what I eat. It's not that hard when you change your mindset and not live in denial.
Daithi J I once lost 30 pounds in a summer watching what I eat and cycling a bit. It's not hard if youre feeling well. If youre feeling deppressed, it's damn near impossible.
Barnacules Nerdgasm Make sure the crank arm doesnt get lose again. Had it happen to me and I didnt notice until the rod in the crank snapped going uphill.
I'm an older big guy, and I like that you have no issues and share how the bike does with gentlemen of our dimensions. I agree that the assist is a huge plus, some exercise is better than nothing and does encourage riding, then when tired or just want a break, then do the assist or motor only. No everyone that wants to ride a bike is a lean mean pedaling machine so finally a way for us to participate. Thank you.
Seeing a bigger guy ride this bike has almost sold me on it( I am 6 ft 225 lbs ,up 40 lbs since I retired) . I am waiting for the weather to cool down here in Texas before I purchase anything . Keep the videos coming.
Totally agree on your views about exercising on an electric bike. Encourage you to go out often is really a main benefit. If I may suggest, please consider to wear helmet. That bike can ride fast enough and head injury really is a no joke.
Psychically it might not be as hard as normal cycling. But, you're out and about & still moving. In terms of mental health (I myself suffer depression & anxiety) it's fantastic for the mind & self-esteem. Well done on weight loss, cycling & video 👍👍 From 🇬🇧🇬🇧
I don't think they did as well as his others videos, and thought the interest wasn't high enough. Guess its too niche. Being a programmer for a living, I fear that I wouldn't really enjoy as much as I think I will, as it may enable my anal mode, and I will just be irritated by what I think of as bad habits xD
I would to get an electric bike for my mother, she used to ride a bike all of the time when she was younger but she has arthritis in her legs now and misses riding bikes so much. Glad to see that it has made such a positive impression on your life and weight loss. Keep up the great work!
I have got to say it's great to see you exercising, keep it up man, but it must have been a PAIN in the ass setting up all those camera shots where you ride past and then have to go back pick up the camera, rinse and repeat xD Appreciate the videos as always Jerry!
Really nice to see you so happy, man! I really like your videos and the ones you make when you are happy are awesome! You, sir, will always have my LIKE.
Good on you Jerry, this is exactly why E-Bikes are awesome! I ride a LOT here in New Zealand, and ive come across so many people out on the trails on all sorts of e-bikes. It really lets people access stuff they might not be able to do otherwise, and as their fitness increases they can just use less and less battery power. Hope you keep enjoying the riding, its such a great sport!
174 miles over 7 months... or 25 miles a month... not sure I would label that as "riding alot"... Back when I rode I covered 25 miles in a week easy... but that bike gave up on life after 3,000 miles too...
i doubt it... ive ridden 26 miles on mixed conditions gravel, road, and hilly terrain... took me an hour and maybe a half... no motor or anything just a standard hybrid bike.
Congrats on riding Jerry! Keep it up. Those pedal assist bikes are pretty cool. I've been a bike commuter since 1992, I'm 51 now and love every day I can get on the bike.
These bikes look great. I'm going to be getting one on your recommendation. Being 52 with torn up knees, I think this is exactly what I need to get me moving again. Thank you.
That's what I was thinking too. I got my new bike in June and have 1020.14 miles from trips I decided to track on my phone. That's just one hour a day. Probably at least 250 miles I haven't tracked going to stores, appointments, friend's houses, etc. If I can do it on a normal entry level Trek, Jerry can do it on an electric bike. You don't have to find an offroad trail, ride around town if that's all you have time for.
Nah. In the summer I do like 400-500km a week. Rule #24 // Speeds and distances shall be referred to and measured in kilometers. This includes while discussing cycling in the workplace with your non-cycling coworkers, serving to further mystify our sport in the web of their Neanderthalic cognitive capabilities. As the confused expression spreads across their unibrowed faces, casually mention your shaved legs. All of cycling’s monuments are measured in the metric system and as such the English system is forbidden.
Anything that gets you out, moving, and having fun is better than staying inside all the time. Great video! I try to watch every single one you make. Keep it up!
Great bike. I think I need one. Btw my 11 year old son and I went riding and he fell hard hitting his head on the asphalt when he was making a turn. Thankfully I am strict about wearing a helmet. I see you don't wear one and you have a powerful bike. Wear it. Just like responsible gun owners need to lock up their guns....bike reviewers should push safe riding.
170 miles in 7 months. I got an E-Bike in September and have done 320miles on it! The miles crank up when you are using for getting to college. Gotta say I love the freedom that an ebike offers and the 1000W I have pulls like a champ. 15mph up steep hills and 30mph on the flat.
If my knees didn't pop with every rotation of the pedal I would get one of these... I'm 230ibs and down from the 260ibs I was last Dec. Jerry and Jay really are an inspiration. The amount of determination these guys have is incredible and putting themselves and their weakness out for the public eye for the betterment of their fanbase is brave and fantastic. Thank you guys. I can walk fairly well and I'm grateful for that but since knee surgery isn't an option I am going to get a Yamaha WR250r which fits me and where I live very well. I Want to live life again and not just be passive about it.
While it's not something I would ever buy, I love bikes and I'm glad that it gets more people riding. Good to see you being active, just spending time outside being active does so much for your mental health
+nltankontop no, I wear what is comfortable not what random people on the internet tell me too. If I listened to negative people on the internet I would be dead from all the people that tell to kill myself. Probably best to just ignore people like you, no offense.
Dude....PLEASE ride the Ironhorse! It was always my intention to ride that when I bought my Rodriguez. Now I'm 8 years older and hitting double nickel in January and still have not done it. Been looking at e-bikes for two years and kept coming back to these and your videos have helped me in this determination to get one. I've looked at EVERYTHING. Although I do dig on that Radrover, my personal choice is going to be the RadWagon and the RadCity. Works better for my situation. RadRover will be coming by spring. Thanks to you for providing this final impetus on this monumental decision. I can't buy a dishtowel without research. BTW...i have been looking for some long term results on these. Glad to hear that your issues were pretty minor. Thanks again, Bro! Kev
Wiffle Yes, on the trail we were on, an unpowered bike would be doable and reasonable, and not very much effort. Once you start adding in hills, the effort is greater to move 280lbs up a hill vs. 180. When you then add in the fitness difference, it is extremely hard for someone at 280lbs to jump into an interesting ride and not bail after minutes from exhaustion.
I was doing some research on the rad rover, and yours convinced me to get one. And I did! I’m at double nickels (55). A bit overweight. BMXer back in my teens. And having a BALL with mine. Radrover should give you a sales commission on this sale!🤙
Congrats for getting out there. I totally understand whats up. You can upgrade your brakes to hydraulic. More importantly mix your pads. One metallic and one organic. This allows better grip under various conditions where one falls short the other will compensate. The same parts for a mountain bike will fit. They come loaded. You can even change the rotor size to a 200 if needed. You LBS should be able to help you if this is beyond your scope. The rotors should never be touched with your hands. Disc brakes are very sensitive to contaminants.
I have to say I can see something like that being a HUGE help to people for getting around and I agree having the power backup is a bonus. My knees are crap and much as I would love to say ride a bike in San Francisco I know my knees would say otherwise! Plus having the power boost for nasty hills and stuff is nice! Glad to see your out and having a blast man! its awesome to see the old Jerry back in the saddle :)
Jerry I'm sure you don't remember, but I contacted you about this bike for weight loss. You suggested not to purchase due to my massive size, because of your inspiration I have lost 115lbs. still got a way to go but thank you for the inspiration to better myself.
Deathmonkeyjaw he explained like a minute in how he's able to actually ride with friends and when he gets tired he can kick the motor on so it encourages him to actually exercise more if at all
I personally don't like the idea of an e-bike as I'm an experienced mountain biker, but if this is what will help people who have trouble with riding a bike, I'm all for it. I'm glad you're getting into biking Jerry and maybe someday you can ride a full manual bike and go on some trails.
And he explains why in the video. Life and weather among other things. He does live in the Pacific Northwest. Rain, sometimes heavy amounts, IS a common occurrence.
Yeah but if you want to make a video about reliability maybe not do it after a distance my 50 euro bike that sits outside in the rain all day also manages without degradation.
Dutch schoolkids don't have a bus to get them to school but need to bike. I knew people that had to bike two hours a day, each school day and it rains, freezes and gets hot here as well. As my mother used to say: you are not made of sugar.
your assesment of the bike is 100% on. i had a stroke and was just getting into riding and had to stop and then was told of this rad rover bike, bought one and can actually ride again. and like you said if i get tired i can throttle it. would love to learn how to double the speed though. take it easy
Hey man. Glad you like to bike. I picked it up while in college and fell in love with it. Keep up the good work. It's probably my favorite way to exercise because you feel like your getting somewhere quickly.
Well -I disagree....Hope needs optimism....Love needs caring....... Mind blowing is when twenty fire fighters try to get a kitten down from a tree for three hours and charge the cat owner a couple boxes of beer....and call the whole thing a "practise run "- thats mind blowing......
I think you are absolutely correct in stating that getting out and being with your friends, keeping up with them, is more important than the exercise benefits.
Your reviews of these Radpower bikes is very helpful for me, especially that Iron Horse Trail info, as I'm 275, and right now 8-10 miles is all I can handle on my conventional bike, and my knees aren't like the torque I'm experiencing on hills, and I want to be able to ride to work (~12 miles one way) on a regular basis. It's certainly cheaper than the 28mph "speed pedelecs" made by Specialized. I also received some really shitty customer service from Juiced earlier this summer, so that put a bad taste in my mouth. Reviews like this are really really helpful.
I know u won't see this but like you inspire me so much, I'm 14 and big but like ur so happy with your life and you cheer me up. Stay strong and don't listen to the assholes. Thanks for inspiring me and just cheering me up, goose luck mate
Long time viewer here and I support your weightloss a lot; Whilst I really do believe that its good becouse you are getting out with your friends and all, but let me tell it to you straight. Weightloss is not supposed to be fun, it is supposed to be hard and really though. We all have had the moment when you just cant pedal anymore becouse you are tired, but its then when you really lose weight. When you cry out your lungs and legs and cant breathe. As a 10 year cyclist (on a road bike and mtb) I think what I say, is true. And btw if you put only 170 miles on a expensive bike, it shouldnt have any problems.
That was fun. I"m an older guy....still good looking, but older. I live near Seattle. This looks like a good choice for me. Thanks for taking time to share this.
My 78 year old aunt uses an ebike to explore Europe in a way her motorhome can't. They're brilliant things. Even if you arent spinning and sweating, being in the great outdoors is proven to be good for your health even if you're just sat down in a wheel chair. I did a 120 mile bike ride a couple weeks ago. I probably would have enjoyed it more with cycle assist.
xWood4000 We left them at home accidentally. The trail is straight and very quiet in that area (we came across 10 people in the time we were on the trail.) Considering the risk was so low, we went with it, but +barnacules knew he'd get comments about not having them on.
Hahaha as long as you're careful :-) I managed to nearly die the one time I rode my longboard without a helmet.. some guy on a bike cut me off, broke not one but two wrists >.< Great content from you guys +xaqaria!!
Keep in mind, on any bike most of your stopping power will be in your front wheel, 75%. I always use both front and back brakes when stopping, but rely on my front brake for the stopping power. Hope this helped. Also, thanks for a great video.
I bought two Polygon bikes and converted them to 36v 500 watt ebikes. They rule! I still ride my regular dually but use the ebikes for every commute. Makes you feel like a kid again. Highly recommended 👌
I'm glad you updated on the Radrider my wife and I are disabled and can't walk or peddle very long so we are ordering two of these. I also was 339# when you started your body refit program so I started one also and I'm down to 317# in three months. So thanks for the inspiration. I'm shooting for 250# I'm 6'3" so that should work. Well great videos as usual be safe..
Hey, I got a Juiced City Scrambler back in April but due to a battery failure lost most of my summer. (all these ebike vendors are suffering due to COVID & Logistical issues, pissing off anyone needing service, this is universal) I didn't get the exercise I hoped for. BUT, since permanently resolved the issue and got a second battery too! This bike has no issue flogging along at 26 mph and 18 up hills with more than 300# of ass and cargo on it. For us big boned folks a set of MAG (City model only) wheels is important to avoid constant spoke issues. Also I'm into 'not leaving well enough alone' and have a big box of parts to enhance my ride and keep me busy, over the cold Maine winter. I suspect many more miles with pounds left on the road come spring and a very custom bike. Sadly as I disLIKE Facebook I had to open a account to get the best related groups. Juiced owners see 'Modded Juicedbikes' for a strong helpful group dedicated to resolving issues.
Don McGowan I think the point you are missing is that, when you aren't messing with them and start using it as a bike, it helps you get out. While it will reduce the effort, it allows you to level the playing field and ride places you never would, with people you never would. I'm out of shape, too. Going up hills kills my thighs, causing me to quit early. With this thing, I can hold myself at a reasonable personal limit and still complete the ride - and not slow down a real rider that is trying to share their pass time with me.
Love this video. Your take on fitness is exactly why I purchased the new Rad City bike (which I cant wait for) so I can go on rides with my sons! And also commute to work and get back in shape.
We've had our Radcity for about a month and put on 150 miles. Anytime we need to go anywhere we hop on our bikes. One of the best investments for our ebike was the panniers (saddlebags). They are so much fun to ride and worth the price.
Your thoughts on the whole "well you're not exercising if you're using an electric bike" is spot on. I bought a Rad Rover shortly after seeing your initial video and I love it. Think of it this way; you're getting 100% more exercise out using your bike than if you're not even out at all.

Don't let people put you down you lost a lot of weight and the best part is you are having fun
i bought a Radwagon a month after your first review and I already have 750 miles on it.
Absolutely love it.
Great job on the weight loss Jerry, you're looking good.
+Geekanoids thank you!

Glad you're out having fun! Keep after it! I love biking and love seeing more people doing it, no matter by what means.
keep up with that smile, it makes difference. love to watch your videos lately.
+com easy to smile when you realize the trolls on the internet at losing ;)
great to see that your still using this man and that it's not sitting in the garage collecting dust. keep it up man!
Make the iron horse trail vid!!!
Jose Vigo Yes! I want to go up there!
Jose Vigo I second this.
I would also like to see this trail vid!
I am interested too.

An electric bike is a great idea. I work 1.5 miles from home but there is a big ass hill. An electric boost would be nice
Beastly Hax well if you read the comment jack wagon, it says it would be nice for a boost
Hell yeah that's awesome! I might have to pick one of those up! Good to see your enjoying life a little more each day again!
I'm glad to see you happy. the freedom that you can experience in a ride its beyond comparison. it helps to be away from depression and sadness. well at least for me. keep the smiles coming

And you've really inspired my video editing.
+GottTech Reviews glad to hear it! I've been more creative with my editing lately and have been enjoying it.
I bought this bike a few months back because of your recommendation ! I bought it for the same reasons as you - for reducing weight and generally becoming more active. I ride it to class every day and it has not only made me more active but freed up so much time on my schedule.
It's a pitty they don't ship outside the US/Canada yet :(
scottjacko87 I've wanted one in Australia, still waiting
And to think I just payed off my credit card and now I want this bike plus I'am really enjoy your content.
electric bikes are cheating is a common refrain.
been riding 10 years.
get more exercise with electric because you are actual riding.
Tom Robertson , besides they are just fun!
Have about $1,000 im looking to put down for a bike...any recs after 10 years of riding?
I'm sorry but you use excuses instead of putting in work to lose weight. I lost 42lbs in less than a year by cycling 10km a day and watching what I eat. It's not that hard when you change your mindset and not live in denial.
+Daithi J I lost 30lb in 46 days? You should get on my level.
Daithi J I once lost 30 pounds in a summer watching what I eat and cycling a bit. It's not hard if youre feeling well. If youre feeling deppressed, it's damn near impossible.
i lost 5 pound down the sofa last night and didn't even have to move
keep the momentum going. hope to see you as slim as jay some day :)
Barnacules Nerdgasm Make sure the crank arm doesnt get lose again. Had it happen to me and I didnt notice until the rod in the crank snapped going uphill.
7 months later, I still want one, I'm still poor :P
That new radcity they've got coming out looks so great.
Thank you.
170 miles? that not really that much for 7 months
fuddle128260394 wtf 7 months really?? barnacules dont get lazy
fuddle128260394 yeah, I bike 12-16 km daily on a normal bike
Could be less
Mr Chicken Tits it's 0.9 miles a day
He is a busy dude though but yeah
Seeing a bigger guy ride this bike has almost sold me on it( I am 6 ft 225 lbs ,up 40 lbs since I retired) . I am waiting for the weather to cool down here in Texas before I purchase anything . Keep the videos coming.
Totally agree on your views about exercising on an electric bike. Encourage you to go out often is really a main benefit.
If I may suggest, please consider to wear helmet. That bike can ride fast enough and head injury really is a no joke.
helmets r 4 pussies !
Famous last words.
TheFilledk Said the motorcycle owner who died protesting against helmet laws from a head injury.
Helmets are a good idea but i doubt this bike goes over 20mph with a big guy on it on flat land.
You'd be surprised how fast these bikes can go . De-restricted mine will hit over 30mph but because of stupid UK laws it has an electronic limiter .
I'm glad to see you going out there and having fun.
Psychically it might not be as hard as normal cycling. But, you're out and about & still moving. In terms of mental health (I myself suffer depression & anxiety) it's fantastic for the mind & self-esteem.
Well done on weight loss, cycling & video 👍👍
From 🇬🇧🇬🇧
+Michael CGN you're right! Thank you.
Nice video but main thing how much does it cost how fast can you pedal with electric assist to Big questions
Codegasm?
he said multiple times he would continue the series, but didnt follow through. I really liked it! :)
Lázaro Blanc Me too!
+Tigirian she would love it.
I have got to say it's great to see you exercising, keep it up man, but it must have been a PAIN in the ass setting up all those camera shots where you ride past and then have to go back pick up the camera, rinse and repeat xD
Appreciate the videos as always Jerry!
So glad you're enjoying yourself, Jerry. Keep up the great work!
Really nice to see you so happy, man! I really like your videos and the ones you make when you are happy are awesome!
You, sir, will always have my LIKE.
+Diego T. Thanks!
no, thank you, sir. Cheers from Brazil.
Maybe he's not riding it a lot but he's riding it HARD when he does. That's harder on the bike than riding a lot of miles with gentle use.
i doubt it... ive ridden 26 miles on mixed conditions gravel, road, and hilly terrain... took me an hour and maybe a half... no motor or anything just a standard hybrid bike.
Kakkoii riding an ebike hard? might be possible but Jerry wouldn't do that. that's why he's a big dude
creep less time on the computer and more time moving... no reason to have a E bike.
@Risto Mladish @creep I'm referring to the bike's reliability, did you guys even read EoRdE6's comment comment?
Congrats on riding Jerry! Keep it up. Those pedal assist bikes are pretty cool. I've been a bike commuter since 1992, I'm 51 now and love every day I can get on the bike.
ahhhhyyyyy your pretty agile for a big guy!!!!!!! impressed!
Kinda like Shay Carl was. He could do backflips on a trampoline. I saw Jerry's little jump he did on the bike haha. He is.
These bikes look great. I'm going to be getting one on your recommendation. Being 52 with torn up knees, I think this is exactly what I need to get me moving again. Thank you.
174 miles in a few months??? you must never have time to ride
thats what i make in 2 weeks :D
Shaya Maddex i plays pokemon and Walkd 700km in 4 months
Nicolai Nielsen No one gives a shit. Miles.
What's the point of locking up your guns only to have less time to protect yourself in a home invasion
170 miles in 7 months. I got an E-Bike in September and have done 320miles on it! The miles crank up when you are using for getting to college. Gotta say I love the freedom that an ebike offers and the 1000W I have pulls like a champ. 15mph up steep hills and 30mph on the flat.
This makes me want to go out and ride my own bike
Do it!
Barnacules Nerdgasm if only it wasnt pitch dark and 18:14, either way I cant go biking any more atm because of my health
O Moo I cant breathe
WeStY how are you alive right now?
wait I guess the only way you cant breathe when your riding a bike is asthma
If my knees didn't pop with every rotation of the pedal I would get one of these... I'm 230ibs and down from the 260ibs I was last Dec. Jerry and Jay really are an inspiration. The amount of determination these guys have is incredible and putting themselves and their weakness out for the public eye for the betterment of their fanbase is brave and fantastic. Thank you guys.
I can walk fairly well and I'm grateful for that but since knee surgery isn't an option I am going to get a Yamaha WR250r which fits me and where I live very well. I Want to live life again and not just be passive about it.
How's the weight loss going?
josh Subet He's down a fair amount: 20-30 lbs? It may not translate well on video, but you can see it in him.
At least he is doing something
Lost 30lb from my highest weight of 310 2 months ago.
And now you're 320.
While it's not something I would ever buy, I love bikes and I'm glad that it gets more people riding. Good to see you being active, just spending time outside being active does so much for your mental health
Really dig your videos bro but please get some bigger shirts. Quit trying to squeeze into that XL when you need that 3XL. It's all good bro.
+nltankontop no, I wear what is comfortable not what random people on the internet tell me too. If I listened to negative people on the internet I would be dead from all the people that tell to kill myself. Probably best to just ignore people like you, no offense.
You sound and look like Cartman.
"Whatever, I do what I want."
durrrr someone wants to help me not look disgusting how bout i chastise them online. cant imagine how embarrassing you are to be around
Good for you Jerry! I love how you spread your ways of coping with exercise by showing everyone else. Keep it up!
Jerry I love you but 296 pounds to 282 is a bit concerning after 7 months.
PopCornKilla I like the guy as well but unfortunately he won't succeed at his weight loss... He hasn't found conviction yet.
170 miles on an e bike in 7 months is not a whole lot, I hope his diet is doing better :)
No, 296lb to 282 in the last month, I hit 310lb at my highest.
Barnacules Nerdgasm Thats good!
I got misunderstood
Kev
It might be fun to ride and all, but a normal bike would be better exercise wise.
Wiffle He addresses this in the video.
No, you will get so fed up you can't be arsed taking out the bike, so you use the car instead, talking from experience
Yes, but if he's not currently capable, its a lot better than nothing.
I guess you didn't watch the video...
I was doing some research on the rad rover, and yours convinced me to get one. And I did! I’m at double nickels (55). A bit overweight. BMXer back in my teens. And having a BALL with mine. Radrover should give you a sales commission on this sale!🤙
No hate, but 170 miles is nothing - see how it's fared after a few thousand miles!
That'll take him 10 years at this pace.
Nice video. You're looking healthy and good. Wear a helmet though. All that exercise isn't worth much if you damage your head...
Unless its another stupid law..
shut the fuck up.
As a larger guy my self I gotta say tucking your shirt in make you look bigger and makes your shorts look like pants
No, he's mastering the art of chub n' tuck
Jerry I'm sure you don't remember, but I contacted you about this bike for weight loss. You suggested not to purchase due to my massive size, because of your inspiration I have lost 115lbs. still got a way to go but thank you for the inspiration to better myself.
no offence, but if you are trying to lose weight, shouldn't you get a non electric bike?
Deathmonkeyjaw exercise matters very little when it comes to weight loss
20%
Deathmonkeyjaw he explained like a minute in how he's able to actually ride with friends and when he gets tired he can kick the motor on so it encourages him to actually exercise more if at all
Glad to see you're still enjoying the bike, and still moving forward with your weight loss. keep it up!
Bravo! Now Get A Helmet!! Looking forward to your next review.
Until its another stupid law...
shut the fuck up.
I personally don't like the idea of an e-bike as I'm an experienced mountain biker, but if this is what will help people who have trouble with riding a bike, I'm all for it. I'm glad you're getting into biking Jerry and maybe someday you can ride a full manual bike and go on some trails.
in 7 months you've put 174 miles into a bike and said you've used it quite a bit?!
Max Cadena stfu he trying
+max - it's called being a salesman. also, what the fuck do you care how much he rides it? maybe to him, that's quite a bit.
As my mother used to say: you are not made of sugar.
your assesment of the bike is 100% on. i had a stroke and was just getting into riding and had to stop and then was told of this rad rover bike, bought one and can actually ride again. and like you said if i get tired i can throttle it. would love to learn how to double the speed though. take it easy
thats pretty rad dude! :) and it does burnouts
Hey man. Glad you like to bike. I picked it up while in college and fell in love with it. Keep up the good work. It's probably my favorite way to exercise because you feel like your getting somewhere quickly.
Jerry is the type of guy to wear shorts no matter what Season it is.
You would be correct :D
I'm honestly surprised you replied to my comment. Keep up the good work on your videos :).
Look at that joy in your face riding along on your bicycle. Keep on peddling happy.
Barnacules got that chub and tuck down
The best bike is the one that gives you the biggest smile, so it looks like you're on to a winner. Definitely make that Iron Horse trail vlog!
I will tell you what is priceless. Free stuff. Mind blown right?
but... but... wow. you're right
Free stuff is not truly free. Mind blown?
Hope and love are free.
Hahahaha, that's funny.
Well -I disagree....Hope needs optimism....Love needs caring.......
Mind blowing is when twenty fire fighters try to get a kitten down from a tree for three hours and charge the cat owner a couple boxes of beer....and call the whole thing a "practise run "- thats mind blowing......
I think you are absolutely correct in stating that getting out and being with your friends, keeping up with them, is more important than the exercise benefits.
does anyone else get a ken bone vibe from this guy
Your reviews of these Radpower bikes is very helpful for me, especially that Iron Horse Trail info, as I'm 275, and right now 8-10 miles is all I can handle on my conventional bike, and my knees aren't like the torque I'm experiencing on hills, and I want to be able to ride to work (~12 miles one way) on a regular basis.
It's certainly cheaper than the 28mph "speed pedelecs" made by Specialized. I also received some really shitty customer service from Juiced earlier this summer, so that put a bad taste in my mouth. Reviews like this are really really helpful.
Jerry looks thinner than when I watched a few months ago
Oh he said he did...
I know u won't see this but like you inspire me so much, I'm 14 and big but like ur so happy with your life and you cheer me up. Stay strong and don't listen to the assholes. Thanks for inspiring me and just cheering me up, goose luck mate
Long time viewer here and I support your weightloss a lot;
Whilst I really do believe that its good becouse you are getting out with your friends and all, but let me tell it to you straight.
Thanks for taking time to share this.
did anyone else cringe when he shifted gears while not moving?
No, because I don't cringe over silly things.
0:39 - 0:43 is so wholesome omg makes me feel good :) glad to see you smile
Why was jerry not wearing pants in this video?
My 78 year old aunt uses an ebike to explore Europe in a way her motorhome can't. They're brilliant things. Even if you arent spinning and sweating, being in the great outdoors is proven to be good for your health even if you're just sat down in a wheel chair. I did a 120 mile bike ride a couple weeks ago. I probably would have enjoyed it more with cycle assist.
You didn't use a helmet? Well, it's Your choice.
It is also very rare to need It.
xWood4000 We left them at home accidentally. The trail is straight and very quiet in that area (we came across 10 people in the time we were on the trail.) Considering the risk was so low, we went with it, but +barnacules knew he'd get comments about not having them on.
Hahaha as long as you're careful :-) I managed to nearly die the one time I rode my longboard without a helmet.. some guy on a bike cut me off, broke not one but two wrists >.<
Great content from you guys +xaqaria!!
Cause theyre not needed if you use a bike like this, helmets are for extreme bmx and trail stuff, not for this.
jadoei13 Accidents can happen and it's better to be safe than sorry.
Keep in mind, on any bike most of your stopping power will be in your front wheel, 75%. I always use both front and back brakes when stopping, but rely on my front brake for the stopping power. Hope this helped. Also, thanks for a great video.
Last time I was this early Trump was not Americas president
I bought two Polygon bikes and converted them to 36v 500 watt ebikes. They rule! I still ride my regular dually but use the ebikes for every commute. Makes you feel like a kid again. Highly recommended 👌
chub n tuck on point
I'm glad you updated on the Radrider my wife and I are disabled and can't walk or peddle very long so we are ordering two of these. I also was 339# when you started your body refit program so I started one also and I'm down to 317# in three months. So thanks for the inspiration. I'm shooting for 250# I'm 6'3" so that should work. Well great videos as usual be safe..
+Hoss fantastic! Keep up the great work.
Use helmet!
Hey, I got a Juiced City Scrambler back in April but due to a battery failure lost most of my summer. (all these ebike vendors are suffering due to COVID & Logistical issues, pissing off anyone needing service, this is universal)
I didn't get the exercise I hoped for.
Laziest bike ever, keep making justifications
they make sebse in some cases and for some people but really not to lose weight
Don McGowan I think the point you are missing is that, when you aren't messing with them and start using it as a bike, it helps you get out. While it will reduce the effort, it allows you to level the playing field and ride places you never would, with people you never would. I'm out of shape, too. Going up hills kills my thighs, causing me to quit early. With this thing, I can hold myself at a reasonable personal limit and still complete the ride - and not slow down a real rider that is trying to share their pass time with me.
Some exercise is so much better than no exercise.
He got all sweaty riding, he's obviously doing some of the work.
I don't need to lose weight and I ride an eBike. you know why? It's fun, you heard of that before, fun?
Love this video. Your take on fitness is exactly why I purchased the new Rad City bike (which I cant wait for) so I can go on rides with my sons! And also commute to work and get back in shape.
you need a lid brotha!
We've had our Radcity for about a month and put on 150 miles. Anytime we need to go anywhere we hop on our bikes. One of the best investments for our ebike was the panniers (saddlebags). They are so much fun to ride and worth the price.
