Wayne looks like a kid who's gotten an hour's sleep before waking up to open Christmas presents and is ready to go back to bed.
hahaha
Wayne's live performance makes me feel like a kid who's gotten an hour of sleep before waking to open X-mas presents! See you guys at the special Yoshimi show in DC!
is it not????
Or…
Still wearing his pajamas no less.
I remember hearing that song on the radio for the first time and wondering who was playing it. I had no clue. About a week later I saw Beck and The Flaming Lips opened the show. When they played this song, it was one of the most happiest moments of my life! INSTANT FAN. I met Wayne a couple of years later and told him how the words to that song help me get over the death of my father. I told him thank you and extended my hand for a shake and he pulled me in and gave me a GIANT hug.
This song will stand the test of time.. Quite moving..
Yah u can use it to prop a table
I remember buying this album right after it came out and how much it meant to me. I just thought it was one of the most beautiful albums I had ever heard and couldn't stop telling people about it. lol
I'm surprised Wayne doesn't release all the multi tracks from the album to encourage fan-made remixes. I would imagine a project like that would be right in his wheelhouse.
I would kill for those stems!
This is the song that turned me one to the flaming lips, in a Mitsubishi commercial. I never bought a Mitsubishi, but I've seen the Flaming Lips twice now. If you ever have the chance, see them. Even better if you can take someone who doesn't know they are Flaming Lips fans yet.
Damn, no way is this album already 20 years old. One of the most beautiful songs ever written and will still sound amazing in another 20.
The Flaming Lips.....masters of being sad and funny at the same time...amazing!
I love this video more than it probably merits. You can tell that mixing, producing and engineering isn’t Wayne’s main function. He’s a vibes guy. Love it.
Lol all fellow vibes guys relate
Dave Fridmann is a huge part of why the album is great
Nice pijamas.. I discovered the Flaming Lips in 1987 when my band, Modern Whigs, opened for them in Witchita KS. Wayne stood at the front of the stage with his arms folded taking in our sounds and visuals like a connoisseur that I'm sure he is. I returned the love, front and center, arms folded, trippin balls as the Flaming Lips power trio opened their set with The Who's, "can you see the real me". Thats all I remember. Too high to even say hi.
1...2...3...4!
You and The Ramones 😉❤️
Such a blast of sunshine that song is.
so proud of Wayne
he showed them all
I remember ordering this album off on Amazon (before streaming was a thing) and loving this "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" -- such a quirky album but a classic of the 2000's. "Do You Realize" was a sleeper hit that was hidden on this album.
My fave Flaming Lips song by far!
Wayne is a cool guy. The time I saw Flaming Lips he was just casually walking around before the show. He walked up and said hello and he was just...very chill and friendly. Great band, great dude. Love it. Also...one of the best live shows I've ever seen.
Very cool indeed. I remember a friendly chat with him back in 2002 when the Lips were touring here in Spain. I came back home with this record signed by him and a memorable gig.
He's always had the coolest hair in the business.
Awesome to be able to hear things separately and then how it all comes together. Would love to see this with Yoshimi.
This made me cry in happiness and gratitude. Seen this band probably 7 or so times, and this is always such a catharsis of a song in live shows. Love you Lips!
See yoooo Monday!! ♥️🎶💫🦄🙌🏼🧚🏻
this warms my heart so so so much. thank you so much wow 👏🏻
Too good! thank you!
Wayne you're the best
Do you realize it's been amazing the have this song around for 20 years! Do you realized it was 20 years?! "Let them know you realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last." And this amazing song is already forever. Dude, what amazing work for the guy that made the mixing! Do you realize?!
The first album I ever bought!
I want all the tracks from all the recordings!! Imagine the remixes!
Beautiful is true , so in love with Wayne
that shirt goes so hard
Does it? Does it really?
@@p0llenp0ny yes it does :)
How has Wayne grown all the hair I’ve lost over the last twenty years?
Holy freaking crap! It's been 20 years already?
Definitely put a smile! on my dial🤗 😎🙏
Please more of this Amazing!!
Any one here listened to this song for the first time on Michael Rupper documentary by Vice :) ? . i did and just loved the song so much !
I love u guys! 💖
This is an amazing insight into a fantastic song.
amazing song made by amazing people
A favorite song! :)
Oh man, what a lovely surprise! So many interesting layers, ie. those synth jew-arp like sounds and acoustic strumming are gorgeous. Hope to see more of these!
Remember laying in my bed at 6:15am waking up to WOXY playing this as I prepare for another day in high school.
Love that band!!
Love this style of video, please do more!
Genius song from one of my fav albums!
I love the length of this video.
4:19?
Steven Drozd... tight on them drums
when a song belongs to the world more than its yours anymore.
Its a special song.
Please do more from the album!!
Happy Holidays Wayne ❣️🤗😘
Came out the month I was born. Important record to me.
"Oh, shit. Now we're done!"
😂
If I had such nice pajamas as Wayne's, that would be my teevee outfit as well.
I thought that thumbnail was Matt McCusker for a sec, then I saw that the video was 4 minutes and 20 seconds long so I had to do a triple take to be sure
Tenían un concierto que se grabó en Tokio...fue alucinante deberían de publicarlo ya que lo borraron
Snoopy PJs.
First time I heard this song was in 50 first dates
💜🦄💚🌈💙🧠❤️
Are those Snoopys sewn on?
Gifted and cursed with this album in art school. It provided years worth of inspiration and encouragement, and now it’s the most hauntingly beautiful music that when mixed with nostalgia becomes like a paralysis
I can relate to that on so many levels. We'll be okay. Hang in.
The video of this being performed at Glastonbury in 2010 reduces me to uncontrollable tears every time I watch it. What a moment.
One gig I would absolutely love to have been at.

New to mixing. How come the drums are on two different channels? Thanks!
Ok so in the part where they are talking about the "funny sounds" I can't tell what they call it, I'm trying to figure out what synth Steven used for that. I know they mention the juno but I don't think that's it... Almost sounds like he says "frisco" or something? Any help would be much appreciated. The synth itself can be heard isolated at 0:03
Any analog synth can do that
Most likely a moog synth
I’ll never forget…the way bands like this responded to the pandemic with nothing but cowardice. Great song.
A favourite song of mine. It looks like he’s playing chess with the mixing board. Or
backgammon.
why does it smell like weed in here?
