Theres NO one like Steve Perry he has a voice so beautiful like NO other!! I miss you Steve you should really do a tour that would be awesome if you decide to plse come to Albuquerque, New Mexico PLEASE!!!! I'd pay big money to see you Steve cause I would want to be in the 1st row that would be a dream come true I've seen you with Journey several times in 3 different States!! You are the best song writer singer there is you are a ICON!!!! Thank you for the new album Traces I absolutely love it most of all is my favorite!!!
I like DavidEmailman's comment from 5 years ago...I'm an Elvis fan and have been since I was six years old. That guy definitely had charisma and a talent not many can compete with even today. But Steve...he's definitely got IT and no one, absolutely no one, rivals that voice. If I'm listening to music it's either Elvis or Steve...the two most beautiful men God ever created!
LUCINDA BAKER I'm with you both! It was the same for me with Elvis since I was a child, truly. My heart broke when he passed. Then......here comes this guy with a voice like I've never heard and stage charisma OMG. While I stood and watched him on stage I even thought of Elvis and I know he would have really got Steve!
+LUCINDA BAKER omg ladies I couldn't agree more!! My 2 most favorite men! I just made this exact comment on a SP fan page on Facebook, but it's kind funny that in all I've seen and read about Steve he's never made a comment about Elvis. Wonder if he even likes him.
Its funny you play this song today and people ask "Who is that"?The Good old tunes!I was playing evolution from Journey in the car.Someone at work didn't know who it was till Lovin touchin Squeezin played!
This is great to see again. Have you heard Journey's new lead singer? WOW!, but I sure would like to see Steve at it again. I had the priveledge of seeing them in Dallas as the headliners at Texas Jam in the early 80s'
It is him, and no, he worked as an announcer and writer for "Fridays". He is actually a very accomplished comedic actor, cartoon voice actor, and has appeared in numerous TV shows and movies since the 60's and is still active.
Think we should rename the song, "Where ARE you?" and sing it to Mr. Steve Perry. No one like you, Steve. You left some impossibly, big shoes to fill. You are missed, sweetie.
Steve had the impossible ability of singing better live than in studio. Not even Freddie Mercury had that chance. Steve is untouchably the greatest of all time.
This was a sound check jam tune. that eventully ended up on departure. and was a great opening tune for a long time. Rolie version of band was Great. Cain version of band is also great, just different writting styles.
I totally agree, across the board Journey's musicians stack up with the other superbands of the 70's.Nobody is saying otherwise, I just think PASSIONATE Journey fans have a hard time seeing anyone other than Steve front the band. Each time Neal brings in a new lead, the person either sounds like Steve and/or has the looks, which causes us die hard Journey fans to ask, why not just bring Steve back? If you are going to replace him as they've done,do it without trying to bring in a SP WANNABE.
Greg was tired of touring. First Santana and then nearly non-stop touring with Journey. If you watch the interview they did during the infinity tour, he talked about the number of shows they did. He picked Jonathan Cain as his successor
@moparrules1968 my sentiments exactly... Journey are touring here in the UK in June..... i wont be going as i believe the bands huge success was down to the fab Steve Perry.... now that may sown horrible of me but to be fair,..... im not bothered, this is the stuff i was raised on.... not with the subsitutes who really dont fit the bill...... i have 3 boys 12, 9 and 6.... they listen to the tracks from 78-98... nothinmg else.!!
Steve Perry never says anything bad about any of the guys or Herbie from what I read, I think Herbie is just bitter and hates perry now. He found out Steve wasn't stupid regarding the business. Perry admits he was difficult to deal with, They said he kept to himself and it was awkward to his band mates. He probably kept quite a lot like great vocalist do.. From what I was told He took care of himself. The other members didn't have to. They could party Perry couldn't afford too..
@moparrules1968 oh my god you are so right only problem is it seem Steve either doesn't or can't come back for reason I not shore I think the first was he can no longer sing or he just does not want to but I belive it is the first one. I wish he would I would be the first one in line. He show these sing how to sing now days
If half the things that Herbie Herbert says about Perry is true, one suspects Greg also got tired of putting up with Perry. And part of the reason they became so huge on Escape was in part because Jonathan Cain was there. It's been said Open Arms was a left over from his days in The Babys. Apparently, he put it forth at the time, and John Waite (The Babys' lead singer) veto'd it. So perhaps if Greg had stayed around, they wouldn't have been quite as big.
OMG! This is why I hate being in the groups. I respect all as artists they are and I do love Steve and his voice the most! But there is no reason to fight and down grade others. I think some have a bit of mental problems here especially when you don't even know any of them personally!
Going to send you full private message as is because I never experience server problems that way if you want to continue there. But it's mostly just about saying the obvious of what you do know but do not want to acknowledge.
I'm just exstatic seeing Schon playing a solid body Ovation UKII !!! Awesome! I saw the latest incarbatuon of Journey with Cheap Trick and Heart last year... with that little fillipno kid. It was SO rediculous seeing all these "older legends" doing their things and then this lil' fillipino jumping bean bounching all over the place... we all jeft the show early and disappointed. Jeff Scott Soto made a better frontman than this freaky midget! LOL And Lord knows they screwed poor Jeff over BIGTIME!
the critics suck rating everything, i dont get why everyone takes what the critics say, they are always full of shit. Journey is one of the best bands every created after steve perry joined and it turned into crap when he left. If you ask me neal schon should have just gone back and started bad english again after he left
I got curious and found that interview Herbie Herbert did. He really ripped Steve Perry. He said Gregg left because he got tired of Steve. I'm a big fan of; "never believe anything you hear(read)and only half of what you see" but where there is smoke there is usually fire.
come on, smith and schon had monster talent that was RARELY EVER displayed (wouldn't want to upstage mr. perry now). smith got in a little here, but like i said wasted talent.
perry is one of a kind , no one can top that majestic voice ... i mean no one
NOBODY better than SP.
Period.
My top 11th liked song ever which I compare in talent to some of THE KING ELVIS Presly songs. Thanks Journey. Thanks for posting this.
Dude - this is high quality for back then. Be thankful you see anyone in this video except the lead singer! STEVE SMITH IS INCREDIBLE.
Theres NO one like Steve Perry he has a voice so beautiful like NO other!! I miss you Steve you should really do a tour that would be awesome if you decide to plse come to Albuquerque, New Mexico PLEASE!!!! I totally agree. Elvis is the King. Steve Perry holding second forever!
It's not very often I meet an Elvis fan who also loves Steve Perry Doris Mers - They are both amazing in their own right!
I like the way you put that Verna Cohen - I think Elvis would have really liked Steve as well!
What energy Steve has on stage! Love this video, Journey at it's peak.
This is a smokin performance, Steve is on fire!! And his vocals are flawless!
This was an awesome show to watch! What energy! What a voice!
Journey~Steve perry on...
I LOVED JOURNEY, For me from 76 to 86 there was little else but, when Gregg left, Journey lost It's SOUL.
The ultimate line up. Rolie sounded great combined with Perry.
I love his long hair, smile and energy. His voice is the best.
i totally remember watching Journey on 'Fridays.' good times...
Thank You Mariet2 for posting this.
What a performance!!!!!!1
The band is great, but that Perry is something
beyond great, what a showman.
I remember staying up late to watch this when I was 10.
Never heard this before. Love Journey thanks for the Flash backs!
God Steve is so gorgeous here !!! And Greg is cute too. Love this video. Thanks so much for posting it. Can't stop looking at it.
Its funny you play this song today and people ask "Who is that"?The Good old tunes!I was playing evolution from Journey in the car.Someone at work didn't know who it was till Lovin touchin Squeezin played!
he not only sings slow stuff be they can rock. neat. i love that too. still soulful and rich with feeling. cool!!
This is great to see again. Have you heard Journey's new lead singer? WOW!, but I sure would like to see Steve at it again. I had the priveledge of seeing them in Dallas as the headliners at Texas Jam in the early 80s'
Not impressed with Arnel as lead singer. He tries to be like Steve but. But working. When Steve left journey died for me.
It is him, and no, he worked as an announcer and writer for "Fridays". He is actually a very accomplished comedic actor, cartoon voice actor, and has appeared in numerous TV shows and movies since the 60's and is still active.
Steve Perry es el único con esa voz tan bella en este mundo..
Think we should rename the song, "Where ARE you?" and sing it to Mr. Steve Perry. No one like you, Steve. You left some impossibly, big shoes to fill. You are missed, sweetie.
the 1 and only perry...
I like all their music. The change was R O R it went south. But that style was in at that time!I pretty much like some of the change.
I can't agree more. Some of their best songs were sung by Steve Perry and Gregg Rollie.
Cool vid. I wish they would make up not many groups are this freakin good. Man tv back then was atrocious. I couldn't even see Neal's face once.
All the times i heard looks that kill ....When looks that kill came out it sounded sooo familiar,
lol
Steve must have bionic lungs to do all that running around and never miss a note!
Oh those "tails"!!!! ;-D
I love Journey! Oh and it's funny how one of the cameramen suddenly pops up behind the drummer @2:17.
Well it is tv, remember the midnight special?
Steve Perry never says anything bad about any of the guys or Herbie from what I read, I think Herbie is just bitter and hates perry now. He found out Steve wasn't stupid regarding the business. OMG, can someone give me a time machine Id be right up front .
@lyndas02 Perry got the bad hip from gyrating around so much sticking the goods in the camera. Not that us ladies didn't appreciate the view
@moparrules1968 oh my god you are so right only problem is it seem Steve either doesn't or can't come back for reason I not shore I think the first was he can no longer sing or he just does not want to but I belive it is the first one. I miss Gregg Rolie! Classic song like this: Priceless! Look at Journey rockin' out & having fun---awesome!
Is Fridays available on DVD yet? There was some classic shit on there...specially Michael Richards and Rich Hall...
If half the things that Herbie Herbert says about Perry is true, one suspects Greg also got tired of putting up with Perry.

Where Are You? Is more like it . . .where are you Steve Perry?
Love coming back to listen to this song.makes you want to dance .even if you cant LOL
LMAO...ZYVZX! You got that right!!!...:)
Yes, it is indeed Warren from "Andy Griffith".
Real name, Jack Burns.
@moparrules1968 I agree absolutely. Two completely different kinds of keyboard players. And Gregg was so much cuter then Jon too. LOL
I agree, Jonathan is good but I always liked Gregg's style better. I love the songs that Gregg and Steve sing together.
Damn, can Steve Perry be any HOTTER! Love him!
OMG! This is why I hate being in the groups. I respect all as artists they are and I do love Steve and his voice the most! But there is no reason to fight and down grade others. I think some have a bit of mental problems here especially when you don't even know any of them personally!

Was that the show with Melanie Chartoff?
I'm just exstatic seeing Schon playing a solid body Ovation UKII !!! Awesome! I saw the latest incarbatuon of Journey with Cheap Trick and Heart last year... with that little fillipno kid. Great lineup. However I liked it with Cain the best.

steve augeri-$ 20.000
jeff scott soto-$5.00
arnel pineda-$ 70.000
STEVE PERRY - PRICELESS
@Shadowsadist I think in the 80's a lot of women would gladly have paid for Steve Perry's body if he was selling it.
camera at 2:17... LOL
I got curious and found that interview Herbie Herbert did. He really ripped Steve Perry. He said Gregg left because he got tired of Steve.
I'm a big fan of; "never believe anything you hear(read)and only half of what you see" but where there is smoke there is usually fire.
I still prefer Gregg Rolie to Jonathan Cain.................
come on, smith and schon had monster talent that was RARELY EVER displayed (wouldn't want to upstage mr. perry now). smith got in a little here, but like i said wasted talent.
Who cares. Jonathan Cain is much better. Journey became superstars when he joined.
too bad all that talent wasted writing/performing mostly chick music.
