Those songs are sung each and every time with a TRUE passion. Imagine everything you do giving everything you have to give nearly every night. I can't believe he didn't just drop dead on the stage one night God forbid. He truly gave it all he had and we all benefited greatly from it. I knwow it took a toll. I salute the greatest VOICE in music Thank you LB
Makes me wish I had a time machine and could go back to 1978! Thank you! I am lucky enough to have seen Journey 3 times (with Steve Perry) in the early 80's.
so what you will about the band, but Steve has got to have the best voice in rock and roll. Robert Plant and freddie mercury can hit some amazing notes, but Steve realy was octaves above them all!
I remeber in 79-80 going to see Journey. We paid $30.00 a piece for 8th row floor, center. These we bought from scalpers, ha ha. Times they are a changin.
This is what youtube is all about ! look at this old rock history. Neil, What an incredible guitar player . He played that solo note for note just like the album. Thanks so much for posting this gem perryfan4ever. Dave.
BRUCELEE1940, Journey has had 6 lead singers: Gregg Rollie, Robert Fleischman, Steve Perry, Steve Augeri, Jeff Scott Soto and now Arnel Pineda. Pineda is 40+ but still does a good Perry impression - for now. Neal tours relentlessly to make the alimony $ for his 4 wives. It is doubtful that Arnel will be able to keep-up with Neal's demanding scheduling, as Arnel, too, will eventually become vocally shredded like the other Perry replacements... I wonder who singer Number 7 will be?
I never heard this song before I watched this clip, and I must say I truely LOVE it! How much feeling Steve puts into the song and his beautiful phrasing. Everyone who had a hand in writing this song did an excellent job. Fleischman also did a great job writing "Wheel in the sky".
You cannot give enough credit to Steve Perry. You cannot compare Freddie Mercury to Perry. Different styles different voice range. Perry has the edge I am afraid as Freddie strained to hit the high notes and I am a fan of his but you have to be realistic. Two very talented individuals
now this is the 4th lead singer to face the awesome journey..i grew up with this most awesome group!! but, without steven perry its just not the same journey to me..but, im going anyhow 31jul08 in wpb, fl..along with cheap trick and heart.. I totally love journey and all the other bands..Steven dont know where u r my friend but, good luck!! u were the best of Journey and always will b!!!!just like VH dlr back tks god!!!!
Whoa, that's so strange...My dad was born March 30th. & I dedicated this song to him. I was born on Fathers Day 3/19/1966 & my Dad was buried on Fathers day 1985, I was 19...
They've always been amazing performers. Nice recovery with the technical glitch there, Greg! It may have been interesting to hear that whole solo as synth once.
BRUCELEE1940, Deen Castronovo while never named as "lead singer" did sing - quite capably- lead vocals on a number of songs in live performances during both SA's and JSS's tenures.
Unbelievable range, just wish the video was a little clearer.... Great song though. Steve is the Voice. Oh but do I reember those styles and the BIG hair....
Steve is AWESOME. Please don't compare Steve, who quit Journey when he was 37 (for all practical purposes), with Arnel who struggled for 27 years to get noticed and finally joined the band when he was 40. They are completely different but they are both AWESOME. It is like comparing diamonds with diamonds.
One of the 3 best rock and roll voices ever. Too bad his ego got in the way. I still enjoy Journey with their new singer and all, but miss Perry. Neal still has it together as he did then. Just play r&r.
When the guitar & then the keyboard hit in, it´s absolutely amazing... I must have heard this song 2000 times but I´m still as keen listening to it as on the first time. The album-version is much better though.
Haven't yet heard any of the new songs that Arnel sings on their Revelation album. The problem is, when he sings 'steve's' songs-it is like watching a very good Elvis impersonator-you want to have the original back so badly that you'll suspend disbelief to 'pretend' that it is Steve-which is really unfortunate because AP is VERY talented in his own right. A shame that he couldn't break in as himself, not as Schon's desperate replacement for Steve. I just can't get past that it ISN'T Steve!
CHIDAISY04, Yup...it's true. Some would say he can't make a commitment to a woman - or a lead singer, for that matter! Some would say that, but I won't.
I appreciate the spread that you do about our idol, Steve Perry. But I think that it should be more nice from you to put his name instead of the site name. We have to spread Steve clips, not our name or the site name. Forgive my sincerity. __________________________________________________________
:flicks veiws button:is this counter working?this is called talent lot of so called artists might want to check it out. i mean the crap these days.and what the hell is the deal ith dane cook?hes not funny....at all.
What a voice...I never get tired of hearing Steve Perry sing. Rock will not see another voice like his.
Steve Perry is probably one of the greatest male vocalists ever. I truly love his voice and talent.
Those songs are sung each and every time with a TRUE passion. Imagine everything you do giving everything you have to give nearly every night. I can't believe he didn't just drop dead on the stage one night God forbid. He truly gave it all he had and we all benefited greatly from it. I knwow it took a toll. Thank you

edtate02 must be high, Arnel is very good but isn't even in the same solar system as Perry in his prime!
Makes me wish I had a time machine and could go back to 1978! Thank you!

he sings this song with so much passion, how can one not love him and his voice?
I love you Steve! You'll always be in my heart!
This is my all-time favorite Journey song and no one has ever heard of it :-(
THIS is what made me love them from moment one! I miss Steve Perry and I miss bands with real talent!
I remeber in 79-80 going to see Journey. We paid $30.00 a piece for 8th row floor, center. These we bought from scalpers, ha ha. Times they are a changin.

Dave.
this song is perfect.
Perry makes it soar...

I wonder who singer Number 7 will be?
This is incredible. I never saw them when Gregg Rolie was still w/the band to my eternal shame. This song stands the test of time.
all HAIL to "THE VOICE""!!!!!!!
I LOVE the all-too-rare songs where Neal plays an acoustic guitar. Awesome!
amazing. He has to be one of the best singers of ALL TIME. top 5, definitely.
thanks for posting! classic!
Considering how washed out the video is, it's surprising that the audio is so clear. Thanks for sharing this.
I never heard this song before I watched this clip, and I must say I truely LOVE it! How much feeling Steve puts into the song and his beautiful phrasing. Everyone who had a hand in writing this song did an excellent job. Fleischman also did a great job writing "Wheel in the sky".

This along with Styx's' "Suite Madame Blue" has to be one of the greatest Rock Ballads of ALL TIME! Frickin Awesome!
oh my goodness. i've never heard this live before. I miss steve so much
This is my all time favorite Journey song!
Steve was their precious child.
steve is so cute, and his voice is amazing!!
Come on? Can you see Pineda pull shit like this live? No way. I seen and heard him. I love Neal, tearing it up with his fro!
Oh my dear friend, you are not alone! I used to have to put the needle back to this tune in the day, because i wanted to hear it over and over.
The Voice.
This song has the heart of the 70s in it.
I was a kid back then, but gosh, I remember and love those days.
hey edtate02.........are you high?????? do your ears work??? Arnel better then Perry???? not in this lifetime!
now this is the 4th lead singer to face the awesome journey..i grew up with this most awesome group!! but, without steven perry its just not the same journey to me..but, im going anyhow 31jul08 in wpb, fl..along with cheap trick and heart.. FANTASTIC! That sounded SOOOOO damn GOOOOOD!!! Thanks for sharing!
Whoa, that's so strange...My dad was born March 30th. & I dedicated this song to him. I was born on Fathers Day 3/19/1966 & my Dad was buried on Fathers day 1985, I was 19...
Fantástico Mr Perry sempre será o melhor...
Greg Rollie left because he felt burnt out. He was on the road between Sanatana and Journey for 10 years.
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. That was epic! My favourite Journey line-up, too.
It doesn't get much better than this.
They've always been amazing performers. Nice recovery with the technical glitch there, Greg! It may have been interesting to hear that whole solo as synth once.
BRUCELEE1940,

amazing..AS USUAL
I love this song/Journey/SP!!
Unbelievable range, just wish the video was a little clearer.... Great song though. Steve is the Voice. Oh but do I reember those styles and the BIG hair....
Thanks for sharing, Kathy !! Awesome song & video !!!
Where did Greg Rolie's organ solo go?
In any case, a classic song by a classic band.
This sounds like a concert I have on cassette from the Capitol theatre in Passaic NJ. Plassaic??? Never knew there was video. Go Aynsley!
wonderful video great song. journey and steve forever¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ viva.
Happy Birthday Son, as Steve and his daughter. I know this is not your type music. It was when you were born. Love you
How fucking awesome is this song? You are fucking awesome for posting this!
Neal's Fro is the best!
Perfection!
They sure don't make em' like this any more!!!
Glen3467,
True, and that's the same reason why Steve Perry left the band in 1987.
eat that american idol!
Além de raro é fantastico........
AWESOME! Thanks so much for sharing
go to his website and see explanations. doesn't seem pissed off...had health issues and they moved on without him.
Steve is AWESOME. Please don't compare Steve, who quit Journey when he was 37 (for all practical purposes), with Arnel who struggled for 27 years to get noticed and finally joined the band when he was 40. 99minerkc,I think 1972 but Perry joined them in 1977 and went their separate ways in 1998.Google Steve Perry to find more info ok.Perry ON.....

Best for in the biz!

Oops! What happened to Greg Rolie's keyboard solo?
None-the-less a classic rock band full of talent.
One of the 3 best rock and roll voices ever. Too bad his ego got in the way. I still enjoy Journey with their new singer and all, but miss Perry. Neal still has it together as he did then. Just play r&r.
LOVE it.

This is a great solo album from him.

@Glen3467 absolutely...
CHIDAISY04,
Yup...it's true. Some would say he can't make a commitment to a woman - or a lead singer, for that matter! Some would say that, but I won't.
Is that Greg Rollin on keyboard?
