I’ve had all the big brand modellers. A few months ago, a musician mate played me some of his own material. I asked how he’d got the great guitar sound, he said it was the Boss GT100 I’d sold him a few years before. I sold everything and bought a Boss GT1000. It’s not what you got, it’s how you use it. 👍

I literally just found out about you last week when i was in the weeds about programming the AxeFx3. Your articles (especially the dad jokes, a lot of people know I spilled the beans recently) and patches were super useful! I decided I wanted a floor modeler for local shows. I hesitantly pulled the trigger on this today after carefully considering the QuadCortex, FM9, Helix, and Kemper Stage. To hear your words at the end, especially knowing with how much you know about modeling, really made me feel more comfortable in my purchase. I really thought it was well designed, built well, and sounded great from the Andertons video. For someone who’s gigged tube gear the most, this Fender product looks like it will be a good medium ground from my 65’ DRRI and AxeFx3. The AxeFx3 sounds great, but you really need to understand modeling and real gear well to make it sound great. It’s been a black hole of research for me since I’ve gotten it haha. Thanks for the great work you do for the guitar community, I’m a fan 🤘

@@Place_to_keep_videos Yeah, that was one of the downfalls. It was also very expensive at launch, well over $1000. Keep in mind, that's 2001 money! Fender introduced it as their flagship, despite offering poor support for it, and not updating it over time. I took one in on trade years ago. Didn't sound bad especially for the cleans, but didn't sound great either. Modern day modelers are far more advanced. Hopefully Fender learns from their previous mistakes with it, the competition is fierce.

A couple of centuries ago I was blown away by what I believe to be the first floor processor for guitars, the Boss ME-5. I sold all my pedals, I bought the ME-5 and it allowed me to so much, I loved it! It was intuitive and I used it for 9 or 10 years.
Then I went back and forth, using a bunch of pedals (and amps of course) and digital stuff. But for the last 20 years I’ve been using pedals exclusively. Building a new pedalboard every now and then. Using real amps.
I have bought a couple of digital devices through the years for recording purposes. But this is the first time I get a bit of that feeling when like when the ME-5 came out. I genuinely feel tempted. I’m not there yet. I mean I invested in the right amps and the right pedals and guitars to be as good and as versatile as it can be for my own situations, which was a journey and a puzzle. It was easy when I played the larger venues and had roadies to do the hard work for me. But now I almost exclusively play in bars and other smaller venues. And again, I invested in that transition. It took time and money, but I had a lot of fun in the process and I love what I have and where I’m at. But this thing speaks to me.
At this point though, I’d only be willing to add it to what I already have. I don’t want to make the same mistake again that I made a number of times before, meaning selling most of my gear to afford the new stuff, only to find out that it doesn’t do what I hoped it would. It only worked once. The first time, when I bought the ME-5. And this does give me the same vibe, even though it’s vastly different. 🤔

I also bought the ME-5 when it came it out, and I still have it. I enjoyed it very much and if I have to join a band for only one or two gigs, I rather take the ME-5 with because of its simplicity. Besides the ME-5 I now have a 2nd hand Fractal AX-8 but use it only in my homestudio. That’s a great “machine” but as a rookie it’s not easy to program a good sound, it takes quite some time. The TMP looks easier to use but I no longer wanna buy such expensive stuff. I maybe should have done it if I hadn’t the AX-8.

Ok, up front, I'm a big Fender tube amp guy; who recently had 9 amps stolen in an outside studio break in. I can NOT afford to replace what I once had as the investment capital needed well exceeds my current earning potential and budget. So, I'm looking at this as a next best replacement option for those classic amp losses. $1,700 may be steep in a normal situation, but I am seeing it as a cost savings of around $15 Grand to my wallet. It frees up square footage, electric bill, cooling costs as well. Those amps when fired up in multiples, throw a ton of heat into the room. So, I've ordered mine to park it on my desk to run direct to DAW. It just makes sense for my current needs.

  • @harryharris1619

Kind of wonder at this price range what competition is going to be effected the most. The quad cortex has tone capture and normal modeling but the TMP does not have the tone capture. The UI is easier for sure than the Fractal system but Fractal has way more amps and IRs. Seems to me that if Fender supports this product with updates in both features and fixes that Fractal will be most affected in new sales to newbies to the modeling world. What do others think?

Just subscribed to your channel after watching quite some videos from you. I rather don’t reply on videos but you showed the best demonstration so far I have already seen. Most others are making videos to show their guitar techniques from the Northpole to the Southpole and with an speed like a passing F16. You do it much humanly and this way it’s funnier to listen and to make a decision. I grew up with the sound of The Shadows but until today I haven’t seen a video of any modeller yet HOW they can bring that typical Hank Marvin sound. If I am correct he used a Vox AC30, the Stratocaster and a Binson echo chamber, and this it. So my question, can you let us hear if you can make that sound (eventually compared with the the original sound from CD) ? Many thanks in advance. Greetings from Belgium 🇧🇪
