    Back the mic away from the cabinet. It has the 12" woofer, a tweeter and a mid-range speaker also. You had the mic jammed into the woofer, missing the other higher range frequencies.

    I really want someone to do a stand alone review of the speaker. Probably a lot of people who already have a floor board that might want to use this. When gigging I run direct but I want something for the house and practice that sounds better than a PA speaker or studio monitors. Something voiced for guitar

      @@MsSpicynipplesThey say the fender fr is made of plywood...interesting since some of their amps costing twice as much use mdf, and many other modeller speakers are made of junk materials, even plastic. But if the power amp is noisy or the speaker sucks, that would be a deal breaker...all eyes are on fender in this moment, but given their recent track record I find it hard to get my hopes up

    Thanks for this video. I was hoping for a decent presentation of the Tone Master FR, but I feel like just close mic-ing the 12" cone is not representative since you are missing out on the 1" tweeter that does all the high-end. That's why your close mic-ed sounds are very muffled and dark. I would appreciate if you made another video specifically for the FR-10 or FR-12 with a microphone at least 2 or 3 feet away from the speaker so it can capture both the 12" bass driver and the 1" tweeter for a more accurate representation of the sound.

    This seems pretty cool, but I am concerned about how many comments (across the internet, not just here) I've seen alledging that Fender has a history of poor post-launch support. I would like to know more about how much we can trust that this product will still exist 5-10 years from now. The cutting edge does dull quite quickly, especially in the digital effect world

      How do you like it compared to the Helix? I'm in the market for a floorboard modeler but I keep realizing that the Helix is like 10 years old. I'm fearful that if I got one, Helix 2 comes out and I'd be pissed.

  • @LoganAddisMusic

    Everyone that's saying it's too expensive... Cool! It's not for everyone. You can spend the same money on an amp rig and be perfectly happy as I've done for years. Or spend a fraction on other modelers that are also great! For me, with as much traveling as i do, this is as close to the ultimate portable rig that I can take on tour and has about every feature i would want. Expensive? Yes but i think all of the R&D put into this and the amount of features makes it worth the extra money. If i only played at home, I wouldn't spend the money. For reference I'm coming from a Fractal FM3 and FC6 and I'm not looking back.

    Well I’ve watched the video in it’s entirety. It’s cool. Is it really a Tone Master product? Well my idea of the Fender Tone Master was to be digitally designed simplistic amps built to look and operate like the original amp it was designed after. I don’t think they should have used the Tone Master logo on a deep dive feature laden product as it’s only going to confuse the consumer. Just my opinion of course.
    I’m sure it’s a great product so I’m not knocking it. I’ve always been a Fender guy for the most part. But for the high price point I would just sooner use my Tone Master Deluxe Reverb amp and a pedal board or my Boss Katana 100 mk II. There is just too big of a risk of an expensive unit failing and being unserviceable. I worry the same about my Tone Master Deluxe amp for that reason because it wasn’t cheap either.
    But for those that want a high quality unit at a premium price I don’t think that the Tone Master Pro will disappoint. Thanks for the early review Chris. Great channel.

    • @AlamoMusic
      @AlamoMusic  Рік тому

      Good points. I think at this point Fender is morphing the Tone Master name in encompass their process of modeling and creating IR cabs and the products they build from that. Their language in the product talks about using their tone master process in the non-fender amps so that seems to be where it’s going.

    • @24avenged24
      @24avenged24 Рік тому

      Ya I get why fender called it tonemaster since it's the digital product line, but this and the amps aren't (imo) targeted at the same players. Calling the frfr tonemaster seems especially confusing to someone unaware of the various products looking at them in store, potentially beside the tonemaster amps.

    Giving a pass for it starting as an “unboxing” video, I’d say you did your viewers a bit of disservice by not at least reading the pamphlets in the box, or familiarizing yourself with the amps in question prior to recording. A few other guitars to plug in (because, you know, EVH always used a Tele) would have also given a better idea of what the unit could sound like. For example, things such as “what’s the intensity knob do?” would have been pretty obvious with a little prep. I’m sure you’ll be following up with a more in-depth view, but those of us with a dozen years on modelers like Fractal and Kemper are needing a lot of what you could provide with a little reading (as many others with advance access did). I’m not hating on it as bad as it sounds, sorry for that. I just saw a missed opportunity for you. Thanks for the info you did provide! I’m planning on giving it a try in January (new tax year for the music biz), and see if it can compare to my Fractal rig.

    Very cool looking. The only thing so far before even watching this video is my criticism of plastic input jacks in such a high price unit. REally good review that covered a lot of material. The UI looks very easy to use and if the amp tones and effects are good, it should do well in the modeler market especially for newcomers to the modeling world. A decent looking/sounding FRFR amp/cab at a lower cost point was sorely missing in the FRFR marketplace. Will definitely be looking at more reviews of those. All in all a very interesting product from Fender that hopefully they will support over the years. The product seems to currently fill a gap based on its ease of use and all the port options it has. The Line 6 Helix line, which is aging now, has competition. The Quad Cortex and Fractal could also be affected by this release, although they maybe in a slightly different kind of modeler category.
